Obama-Kennedy ticket?

“Putting Kathleen Sebelius on the ticket is simply putting a female governor on the ticket to put a female governor on the ticket. But Caroline Kennedy has the experience and training necessary to lead, and as vice president, could help to restore our image in the world.” — blogger Ben Goodman, on the Huffington Post

Why not just ask Oprah to run? Obama-Oprah 08?

Just put the least apt to lead in the number 2 slot, that makes a whole lot of sense.

Yeah. Nobody knows, so it’s ridiculous to speculate.

    I hope it’s Russ Feingold, but it’s a long-shot.

It really doesn’t matter to me, I’m withholding my vote since it won’t be Hillary.

To even suggest it shows they have lost their minds.
But, so has much of the rest of the country as well.

Just what “experience and training” is that? A quick look at Wiki tells me she has NEVER held an elected office. She sits on various boards, thanks to the family name. She – wow, get this – represented her family at R. Reagan’s funeral, and at Lady Bird Johnson’s funeral.

Well – given that perhaps the most important job of being VP is going to state funerals, maybe she does have the “experience anhd training” necessary!!!

Geesh. Someone with even less real experience than Obama. Given Obama’s frighteningly thin resume that’s not easy to do . . .

Now GM…let’s not sell her too short. She ALSO represented her family at Jerry Ford’s funeral! Talk about qualifications!

PMom..I can’t believe that you’d even consider not voting…even if for no other reason than to get a democrat back in the white house.
    Check your email, please.

Who is sure Obama IS a Democrat?

    He doesn’t talk like one.

Since my vote doesn’t matter in Kansas anyway, I too will save it for someone I can vote FOR.

    Or I just won’t bother.

    Word to Obama supporters?

Silly topics like this don’t increase Obama being taken seriously.

Ah scrolling up I see it comes from Rhonda.

Which would tend to explain things.

Maybe we ought to consider shutting up and just letting Obama pick his own running mate. If we trust him to run for president, we ought to trust him to select the best vice-president.

I assume Kennedy’s principal qualifications are her gender and her last name. But if Obama were to pick a woman it would be Kathleen Sebelius. Sebelius, however, now appears to be a long-shot, since it would offend Hillary and Bill (who really haven’t at all given up their sense of entitlement to the White House) to pick a woman other than Hillary, particularly since that other woman would then become a threat to Hillary’s campaign in 2012 or 2016. I think there’s some sexism in there – he can’t pick a qualified woman because of the Clintons, so he has to pick a man as VP nominee.

So, Chas..are you now the blog monitor? Telling people who can and who cannot comment on different topics?

If so, then may I ask why you had the temerity to comment during the Republican primaries? Or, don’t your “rules” apply to you?

Rhonda? Are you really serious about this blog topic? I am starting to think that the members of the Eagle Editorial Board are just a bunch of trolls surfing the internet looking for celebrity stories. Looks like harmless Bonnie Bing psuedo celebrity journalism rather than Buzz Merrit civic journalism which is much more dangerous.

This is not serious. However, I think in reality, Caroline Kennedy might make a surprisingly able vice president, and president if she was called upon. The reason why I say this is her founding of the Profiles in Courage award (left or right, I would suggest that Profiles in Courage by John F. Kennedy was one of the most interesting and important political books ever written), and the pattern that she and the PiC selection committee have shown in awarding it is both non-partisan and (IMO) dead on. The kind of political courage that PiC celebrates is the kind that has never been common in politicians, and in today’s hyper-media age this sort of courage is weeded out. The fact is, there are times that the majority of voters are wrong (left, center, or right). Sometimes, once in awhile, the best decision is the one that will guarantee that the person who makes it will never be elected to office again. Caroline Kennedy, like her father, recognizes that sort of courage. Since she hasn’t held office, and is associated with the award, she might be uniquely qualified to actually enact that sort of courage (of course, this is speculation on my part).

That being said, while I think that Caroline Kennedy might make a shockingly able vice president, she would not make a good vice presidential candidate in this election, because of her lack of office holding experience that would be a political liability in the actual race.

Chas., this is a blog. Every topic here is designed to elicit comment, some a maximum amount of comment.

More to the point, I can guarantee if there was a topic on McCain’s VP choice or a potential VP candidate, there would be comment (in fact, there was a lot of comment on Jindal earlier).
