Michelle Obama’s all-American speech

Michelle Obama’s uplifting, poised speech to the Democratic convention Monday night was terrific, and should silence GOP critics still trying to paint her as an America-hating radical.
Instead, she came off as an all-American Horatio Alger story, someone who rose from a working-class background on the south side of Chicago to the pinnacle of success by adherence to old-fashioned values of hard work and faith and family. It’s a story even Obama’s conservative opponents should admire.
She helped show the human side of Barack, too, with a touching account of how he drove her and their newborn daughter home from the hospital, nervously moving along at a snail’s pace and looking in the rearview mirror. And the Obama kids were adorable when they took the stage.
What’s not to like about this family? The Republicans will have a hard time making Michelle Obama a liability after Monday night, or calling the Obamas “elitists.”

Oh to be so blind as to think one speech would somehow make it all go away. Political speechs and advertisments are just marketing of another product.

It’s all about what they are selling, not about the truth. Think of that old commercial of the boys around a campfire drinking beer. “It doesn’t get any better than this!” It’s not about giving you some top of the world life experience, it’s about selling you beer.

Similarly, this speech is not designed to tell you anything about Ms. Obama. It’s about telling you they want you to think about her. All politicians do it.

What is sad is how an experienced editorial writer buys it so readily.

    Good speech.

Good, BECAUSE it was completely phoney.

Michelle Obama tells students to “reject middle classness” and to reject “corporate American” and to work for non profits.

Michelle Obama made nearly $300,000.00 per year at a non profit organization. I do not think most “not for profit” jobs pay that much.

    http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/2007-05-10-michelle-obama_N.htm

Michelle Obama is also friends with terrorists, including Weather Underground members Bill Ayers and Bernadett Dohrn. Michelle went to Ayers home, with Barrack, for strategy meetings when Obama launced his political career.

Terrorist Bill Ayers later became Barrack Obama’s boss, at another “non-profit” foundation. That foundation gave grant money to terrorist groups.

Mrs. Obama had a mountain to climb last night because of an ill-advised choice of words she made months ago. She climbed it.
How anyone can say anything evil about her after last night… well, it’s going to be a little bit harder, but that is the cross every Democratic First Lady has had to bear (with the exceptions of Bess Truman and Jackie Kennedy, the latter because it all ended too soon).
With the possible exception of Nancy Reagan, how come nobody ever attacks Republican First Ladies?

Bill Ayers HIRED Barrack Obama, making Obama the CHAIRMAN of one of the Ayer’s Controlled “charity” boards.
The New York Times ran an article of Bill Ayers, when he was promoting his own book, “Fugitive Days” and standing on an American Flag.
Many copies of that article were destroyed on 9-11-01, that is when the Ayers story appeared.

“Andrew McCarthy has highlighted these ties in “The Company He Keeps: Meet Obama’s Circle: The Same Old America Left.”

Obama also was involved in pro-Palestinian activities — an involvement he has tried to obscure as he sought support from American Jews when he began his Senate and Presidential campaigns. He attended pro-Palestinian events where anti-Israel invective was par for the course. He served on the board of Directors of the Woods Foundation — which gave grants to pro-Palestinian groups and helped sponsor propaganda events for the Palestinian cause. These events featured anti-Israel agitprop as a central focus.

He served on the board of the this foundation with William Ayers, a leader of the Weather Underground, a group that in the late 1960s carried out domestic terrorism against American targets such as police stations, the Pentagon, and other symbols of the establishment. Ayers lives in the same Hyde Park neighborhood as the Obamas and contributed to his Senate campaign.

Obama tried to dismiss the nature and duration of his relationship with Ayres during the debate with Hillary Clinton this week, but she brought him up short when she revealed the shared Woods Board membership.

Ayers notoriously expressed no regret for the domestic terrorism his group inflicted against America. He told a New York Times book reviewer, “I don’t regret setting bombs. I feel we didn’t do enough.” The article appeared on the morning of September 11. 2001.”

Those of you who defend these nut case groups are actually hurting your own party.

Barrack Obama was employed by Bill Ayers. Both Michelle and Barrack were friends with Ayers and Dohrn.

    From truthfightsback.com:
Barack Obama lived in the same area of Chicago as Ayers, and Ayers has been a politically active member of that community for years. Considering that, it’s actually remarkable how little the two have to do with each other. Early in Barack Obama’s career, he attended one reception in his honor at Ayers’s house. They also were separately asked by a charitable organization to serve on that organization’s board. And that’s it. There’s no friendship between the two, no relationship, no history of working together. This whole manufactured issue was already hashed over in the primary, but the Republicans, desperate to change the subject from the state of the United States and the unpopularity of their policies, are trying to revive this discredited attack once again. A shady Republican front group even ran ads trying to tie the 60s-era activities of Ayers to Al Qaeda today.

It was a good speech and did what it was supposed to do – be inspirational and motivate.

With that said, reality outside of speeches in politics do occur.

Once political hats are put on, the inspirational speeches go by the way side and influence peddling takes place.

We all know it happens, so no sense in denying the truth.

As I stated last night, the speech was enjoyable and did serve its intended purpose.

But let’s not be blinded from the facts at hand, by the flashlight in our eyes please. :)

    Further clarification:
“Barack Obama has very little connection to William Ayers. Barack Obama served on the board of a non-profit in Chicago. This non-profit also asked Ayers, now a professor at the University of Chicago, to serve on the board. Obama had nothing to do with his inclusion on the board. Very early in his career, Barack Obama attended one event at Ayer’s house, organized for Obama. This was over a decade ago.”

Ayers gave Obama his job, on the Chicago Annenberg Foundation.

Also, how did the radical Ayers get on these boards in the first place? Simple, Ayers had wealthy parents. Ayers CONTROLLED the board, and Obama would not have been asked to be on the Board, without the direct involvement of Ayers.

Also, Ayers EMPLOYED Obama, as CEO of the Chicago Annenberg Foundation.

Obama was an EMPLOYEE of Ayers, when Ayers stood on an American Flag to promote Ayers’ book.

The above post was written by a Black doctor, as one argument against the racist idea of the “Bell Curve” — His thesis is that America is such a “melting pot” that measuring intelligence between races, in America is a stupid exercise to begin with, since no racial line is “pure”.

Bill Clinton is doing his part (for the Republicans):

The former president, speaking in Denver, posed a hypothetical question in which he seemed to suggest that that the Democratic Party was making a mistake in choosing Obama as its presidential nominee.

He said: “Suppose you’re a voter, and you’ve got candidate X and candidate Y. Candidate X agrees with you on everything, but you don’t think that candidate can deliver on anything at all. Candidate Y you agree with on about half the issues, but he can deliver. Which candidate are you going to vote for?”

Then, perhaps mindful of how his off-the-cuff remarks might be taken, Clinton added after a pause: “This has nothing to do with what’s going on now.”

Alas, I am ready for a change from a Republican in the White House. Obama, Hillary, Ron Paul, Kevorkian – I don’t care who the Democrats nominate they will get my vote. I will vote for whomever, from whatever party, I think can beat the Republican candidate for President.

(I normally oppose voting based on the party of the candidate, and generally don’t think it is good to vote against someone, but the Presidential election this year is an exception to those rules.)

This whole convention is about appearances. I think butt size is relevant. Do you think Obama would be the nominee if he was big and fat with a pock marked face?

Excuse me Mr. Obama, I mean Senator Obama, sir. Um . . . know you are busy and important and stuff. I mean running for president is very important and . . . ah . . . I hate to bother you. I will only take a minute ok, sir?

See, I have these missing pieces that are holding me up, and I was wondering sir, if you could take time out of your busy schedule and help me out. You know, no big deal, just some loose ends and things.

Hey, you have a nice place here! The wife sees houses like this on TV all the time and says boy she wishes she had digs like this you know? Is that painting real? Really? Wow. I saw something like that in a museum once!

Oh, sorry sir. I didn’t mean to get off the track. So if you could just help me out a minute and give me some details, I will get right out of your way. I want to close this case and maybe take the wife to Coney Island or something. Ever been to Coney Island ? No, I didn’t think so. . .

Well, listen, anyways, I can’t seem to get some information I need to wrap this up. These things seem to either be locked up or not available. I’m sure it’s just some oversight or glitch or something, so if you could tell me where these things are . . . I . . . I . . . have them written down here somewhere . . . oh wait. Sorry about the smears. It was raining out. I will just read it to you.

Could you help me please find these things, sir?

    Barack Obama’s Stealth Socialism

By INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Monday, July 28, 2008 4:20 PM PT

Election ‘08: Before friendly audiences, Barack Obama speaks passionately about something called “economic justice.” He uses the term obliquely, though, speaking in code — socialist code.

“…. A perfect storm of statism is forming, and our economic freedoms are at serious risk.

    Michelle Obama: The Actress

While her husband is Politician Celebrity, we finally got a glimpse last night of Michelle Obama, The Actress, and exactly how far she will go to pretend to be something she’s not in order to get into the White House.

I mused yesterday that Obama’s speech could in no way eclipse the rank absurdity of Teresa Heinz-Kerry’s Ode to Herself four years ago. But I was wrong. In her widely panned speech, at least Mrs. Kerry respected everyone enough to be honest with us about herself.

Michelle Obama, on the other hand, simply was not. Her comments last night in no way, in any small part, reflected her repeated speeches over the past 18 months. It in no way gave us even a tiny glimpse into the world we know she and her husband live in–one of grievance, anger, entitlement, and general whiny unhappiness. Whether it be through her own now consistently famous complaints, or the people they have chosen to surround themselves with– America-haters, in one instance, a domestic terrorist with a commitment to kill Americans and topple the government. The Obamas’ own words and their associations belie the “Donna Reed” image MIchelle Obama tried so hard to convey last night.

Americans are very open-minded people. We like the underdog, those who come up–we like to hold up the unexpected. But what we dislike with as much passion is being lied to. Differences of opinion are one thing, being lied to is quite another. Michelle Obama’s contempt for the “mean” American people is apparently so complete she now has no problem smiling as she spins her pretend story of patriotism and gentle, optimistic love for family and country.

She did make one mistake–she must have left the pillbox hat back in her suite.
