Dancing with the governor

Denver wasn’t all politics for Gov. Kathleen Sebelius. The Wall Street Journal captured some of her moves.

Forget “Dancing with the Governor,” this morning, let’s try “Dancing with the EAGLE.” Where is today’s “Open Thread”? Perhaps it’s a little late and will arrive eventually. So, HLP, have another cup of coffee while you are waiting. And remember today, Saturday, is the day of the “new moon.” So the moon will rise at approximately the same time as the sun, a few minutes before 7 AM, so probably only a slim sliver if that will be visible.

I should have said, the rising moon will only salivate with a slim silver sliver of shimmering reflected early morning sunlight.

    Good morning JWink!

Obviously Phillip has a well deserved day off. The BLOG is in the hands of the second string. So, no open thread? We’ll just take over this one!

GOP Nominee Palin cool on Global Warming

Some scientists believe Alaska will be among the first to feel the impact of global warming, but Sarah Palin told voters there she wasn’t sure climate change wasn’t simply part of a natural warming cycle. “I will not pretend to have all the answers,” Palin said about global warming, according to the Anchorage Daily News. Her spokesman clarified at the time that “she’s not totally convinced one way or the other. Science will tell us . . . She thinks the jury’s still out.”

Palin shared her views in the run-up to the 2006 governor’s race, at an Alaska Federation of Natives convention, where delegates passed a resolution calling for a mandatory reduction in pollution affecting the atmosphere. Answering a question from the Daily News, Palin cautioned against “overreaction.”

Those were among the comments that brought condemnation today from Greenpeace to her selection as Sen. John McCain’s running mate on the Republican ticket. The environmental group’s Alaska Global Warming Campaigner, Melanie Duchin, described Palin as “one of the most anti-environment records of any governor in the United States.” “She has supported oil drilling in some of the most ecologically sensitive areas in Alaska, even when it meant sacrificing polar bears, beluga whales, and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge,” Duchin’s statement said. “Despite her advocacy for expanded oil and gas drilling, Palin has done almost nothing to promote the clean energy sources that can help solve global warming, which is already having major negative consequences in her state,” Duchin said.

In an interview released by Newsmax magazine today, Palin said that while she recognized her state would be affected by climate change, that didn’t mean humans are responsible. “A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state, because of our location,” she said. “I’m not one though who would attribute it to being man-made.”

Palin’s comments stand in sharp contrast to those of McCain, who says at every campaign stop that he believes human activity is driving global warming.

And then, since we are on a Kathleen Sebelius thread, am I the only one that has noticed the incredible hypocrisy of the left when it comes to the Palin selection?

They were all wetting their panties at the thought of Obama selecting Katy but Sarah isn’t worthy!

McCain doesn’t the experience and wisdom on the ticket that Obama lacks and Palin was a perfect choice to shore up his conservative credentials.

On the other hand, Obama needed some ‘gravitas’ and the only thing that Katy would bring to the ticket would be, well, gender diversity!

Palin’s credentials for VP are every bit as impressive as the ones that Sebelius claims to bring.

HLP- If you will remember, I was NOT hypocritical at all about Sebelius. And Sebelius has TONS more experience than does your beauty queen Sarah the imPalin.

What the left is saying about Palin is much milder than what the Right was saying about Sebelius prior to Obama’s selection of Biden. We’ll have to wait and see what kind of candidate Palin makes. She seems to be a moral conservative who has shown flashes of good sense. Out on the trail she could be a game breaker, bringing the faithful to McCaine as strongly as they turned out for Bush, or she could be a disaster.

In my opinion, that train left the station long ago, with no one on it, except in places like Kansas, where there isn’t a train or a station. We’ll have to wait and see. Should only be a week or two. Can you see her standing on the “dykes” handing out food and water, alongside McCain? It’ll be a hoot whatever happens.

Seems to me, he had it all wrong, and paranoia was his constant companion. But that’s just my opinion, you know, the opinion of a cheese eating surrender monkey. Which in itself proves the theory of evolution. Since monkeys can’t type, I must be human, which I’m sure will be questioned by some gun carrying, nazi war monger:-)

    “Political_mama” asks –

“Since when is dancing embarassing? Too insecure to get up and dance?”

    I’ll admit it.

I’m pretty insecure about dancing BADLY. Which is what I usually do.

    I’m not sure why.

When I was a kid most dances I went to I was playing in the band.

I was a drummer, so I think I got the concept of moving in rhythm, but somehow it never translated to grace on the dance floor.

I grew up seeing those Fred Astaire movies and believing all it took was a tux and a dance and all the Ginger Rogerses in the world would fall at my feet. Then I rented a tux for Junior Prom and realized that everyone who wears a tux — except for Fred Astaire — looks like a butler.

Dancing insecurity is the National Male Disease. I could host the telethon.
