Former President Bill Clinton’s full-throated endorsement of Barack Obama Wednesday night should finally end the political soap opera and speculation about whether the Clintons support Obama and want him to win. After calling on the 18 million people who voted for Hillary Clinton to vote for Obama in November, he laid out a case for why Obama was ready to be president and why America needs him to be president. “Everything I learned in my eight years as president and in the work I’ve done since, in America and across the globe, has convinced me that Barack Obama is the man for this job,” he said. And as for Obama’s first presidential decision, the selection of Joe Biden as his running mate, Clinton said that Obama “hit it out of the park.”

Looks like the repubs. are going to have to look for a different wedge issue.
Bill and Hillary BOTH gave good speeches. They both made the case for “No McSame, No Way”
He did a good job on the speech. Biden did pretty well to.
My president hit it out of the park! Maybe the best speech he’s ever given.
Work harder, take home less
From 2000 to 2007, worker productivity rose significantly in the United States, but real income fell for middle-class families, a group of economists says.

Bill doesn’t give speeches. He talks to people.
A big problem Hillary has is she’s simply not an effective speaker in front of large crowds, especially compared to Bill.
Senator Clinton kept stepping on her own applause lines Tuesday night. Bill effectively worked the crowd on Wednesday.
On some level, the ability to speak in public might be construed as a superficial qualification for the presidency. Jefferson, it’s said, hated to give speeches, had a weak voice, and couldn’t deliver the goods as effectively as with his written words.
But it matters as a metaphor for leadership.
From Julius Caesar to Shakespeare’s kings to FDR and JFK, the ability to communicate is a key element of leadership.
I guess I am a little confused. Are we supposed to vote for someone because someone told us to?
This endorsement business is the epitomy of sad. Voting for someone because they were endoresed by someone you like is just as bad as not voting at all.
We will get exactly what we deserve if we vote based on this absurd trend.
I figure President Clinton knows a lot more about how Obama will govern than I do, a lot more about the challenges he will face, a lot more about the people he will work with — so, yes, I definitely respect his input and endorsement. He knows the job and what it takes to do it. He says Obama is the man for the job. Carries some weight!
Nancy Pelosi: “I am very proud of the Democrats in Congress.”
Never mind that no Congress in the past 20 years has passed fewer public laws than this one, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Hillary Clinton: “I will always remember the boy who told me his mom worked for the minimum wage and that her employer had cut her hours.”
So, how will raising the minimum wage get that mom more hours? If the business owner found her employment too expensive at the lower wage, won’t they be cutting her hours even more now?
Another difference between McCain and Obama is the ability to communicate and conduct oneself properly. Obama can, McCain can’t. The way McCain treats women he would give us the potential for worse than just rubbing the German Chancellor’s shoulders.
“Barack Obama knows that America cannot be strong abroad unless we are strong at home. People the world over have always been more impressed by the power of our example than by the example of our power.”
President William Jefferson Clinton
“Never mind that no Congress in the past 20 years has passed fewer public laws than this one, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Yes, the Republican scorched earth policy on passing legislation has been effective, but it will bite them in the butt in Nov.
“On some level, the ability to speak in public might be construed as a superficial qualification for the presidency. Jefferson, it’s said, hated to give speeches, had a weak voice, and couldn’t deliver the goods as effectively as with his written words.”
If you go back and READ the transcripts of the Nixon-Kennedy debates Nixon won. But if you WATCHED them on TV Kennedy won.
“We will get exactly what we deserve if we vote based on this absurd trend.” — Objectivist
You get exactly what you deserve if you do not listen to the opinions of people you respect.
Written by Dr. Jack Wheeler
“The O-man, Barack Hussein Obama, is an eloquently tailored empty suit. No resume, no accomplishments, no experience, no original ideas, no understanding of how the economy works, no understanding of how the world works, no balls, nothing but abstract empty rhetoric devoid of real substance.
He has no real identity. He is half-white, which he rejects. The rest of him is mostly Arab, which he hides but is disclosed by his non-African Arabic surname and his Arabic first and middle names as a way to triply proclaim his Arabic parentage to people in Kenya . Only a small part of him is African Black from his Luo grandmother, which he pretends he is exclusively.
What he isn’t, not a genetic drop of, is ‘African-American,’ the descendant of enslaved Africans brought to America chained in slave ships. He hasn’t a single ancestor who was a slave. Instead, his Arab ancestors were slave owners. Slave-trading was the main Arab business in East Africa for centuries until the British ended it.
Let that sink in: Obama is not the descendant of slaves, he is the descendant of slave owners. Thus he makes the perfect Liberal Messiah.
It’s something Hillary doesn’t understand – how some complete neophyte came out of the blue and stole the Dem nomination from her. Obamamania is beyond politics and reason. It is a true religious cult, whose adherents reject Christianity yet still believe in Original Sin, transferring it from the evil of being human to the evil of being white.
Thus Obama has become the white liberals’ Christ, offering
absolution from the Sin of Being White. There is no reason or logic behind it, no faults or flaws of his can diminish it, no
arguments Hillary could make of any kind can be effective against it. The absurdity of Hypocrisy Clothed In Human Flesh being their Savior is all the more cause for liberals to worship him: Credo quia absurdum, I believe it because it is absurd.
Thank heavens that the voting majority of Americans remain
Christian and are in no desperate need of a phony savior.
His candidacy is ridiculous and should not be taken seriously by any thinking American.”
And how many boxtops did Wheeler send in to get his PhD? What is it in, anything real or relevant?
Dr. Wheeler received his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Southern California, where he lectured on Aristotelian ethics.

“A big problem Hillary has is she’s simply not an effective speaker in front of large crowds, especially compared to Bill.”
I disagree.
Bill is better at embracing a crowd.
Hillary is better at motivating one.
I like her combative style. Obama would do well to learn from her. The goofball mocking thing he does doesn’t serve him well and brings him off as arrogant.
A perception he only adds to at every turn.
mrcontroversy,
Where did you get your…….oh, I guess you don’t have anything!
“hit it out of the park.”
So it is said…
So it shall be done….
and the masses went wild…
Baaaah….Baaaaah….
Very possibly, Gustav, Hanna, Ike, Josephine, and Kyle are about to endorse Obama.
Because of the “Green Theme” of the DNC, I thought of another way the Democrats could reduce the carbon foot print of their event. If they would all just stop breathing they could keep 2.2 million pounds of CO2 out of the atmosphere by my calculations, and of course by doing so benefit the country in several other ways as well.
Just checking Boxedin.
My pet peeve is people citing unknown sources without qualifying them.
Prince Alwaleed, Adel Hamed Shoman and Mohammed Al Jaber have finally dropped Cliton and are endorsing The One.
Bluejay- I like her combative style. Obama would do well to learn from her.
Your opinion, but I think due to the outcome, perhaps Hillbilary would maybe be the one needing to learn a thing or two…..
“The goofball mocking thing he does doesn’t serve him well…
And this years Demoratic nominee is……
Box – if I wrote a similar diatribe against McCain would it carry the same weight with you as the one done by Wheeler?
‘bth’
Depends if it was as accurate and from as credible a source.
But thanks for asking nicely….I get your point and respect your question.
“Just checking Boxedin.
My pet peeve is people citing unknown sources without qualifying them.”
mrcontroversy, I answered your earlier question about Dr. Wheeler’s PhD, and if you followed the link I provided you could have found much more.
In case you haven’t discovered it yet….cough, Google provides ready access to that information as well.
“as credible a source”
How about from a PhD?
bth,
I am not sure I am following you.
Do you have a PhD?
If so, what in?
When you say, “if I wrote a similar diatribe against McCain would it carry the same weight with you as the one done by Wheeler?”
Well one, I would have to read it first, don’t you think?
Yes, Boxlock.
I know BTH personally and I know he has a PhD in one of the hard sciences.
The ’90’s called.
They want their president back.
Obama, the CHANGE we want.
“I did not have sex with that woman, Monical Lewinsky” Bill Clinton.
“I support Obama” Bill Clinton.
Come on. The Clintons want Obama to TANK, they just do not want the blame for it.
When did Bill or Hillary, even once, state that Obama was “ready” to lead?
What accomplishment was listed?
What qualifications were listed?
“Obama is a liberal, we are liberals, vote for Obama”
Hillary and Bill could have given the SAME speeches for any Democrat in the country.
Linda, you have to be kidding!
Bill Clinton has treated women FAR worse than any other figure in Congress, or in politics, in modern history. Hillary’s job was to manage the “Bimbo Eruptions” — that was what the CLINTON Adminstration called Hillary’s major function.

Paula Jones’ lawyers get lion’s share of $850,000 settlement
March 5, 1999
Web posted at: 4:19 a.m. EST (0919 GMT)
LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (AllPolitics, March 5) — The bulk of the $850,000 settlement in Paula Jones’ sexual harassment case against President Clinton will go toward attorneys’ fees, while Jones will collect $200,000, according to one of the attorneys.
The money was paid in November but held up by the courts when Jones’ former and current lawyers could not agree on how it should be split up.”

Also, I do recall Obama calling a reporter, “Sweetie” lol
“I know BTH personally and I know he has a PhD in one of the hard sciences.”
Capn,
Then let him present his “similar diatribe against McCain” and we’ll see if it would carry the same weight with me as the one done by Wheeler.
“Franklin” is a self confessed Republican party operative.
His posts here should be viewed as commercials for the Republican party.
“Prince Alwaleed, Adel Hamed Shoman and Mohammed Al Jaber have finally dropped Cliton and are endorsing The One.” — biased1
Are you that rarity, a 15-year-old conservative, or are you merely an adult who sounds 15?
Then let him present his “similar diatribe against McCain” and we’ll see if it would carry the same weight with me as the one ‘done by Wheeler.’
Should read; ‘done by Wheeler ON OBAMA.’
Boxlock – it’s not worth the trouble but you did prove my point. If you agree with the diatribe you give it weight. If you don’t you discount it. The fact that I have an earned PhD would make no difference to you.
bth,
I am not following your point, if you are even making one.
Just because someone (you) may have a PhD certainly does NOT mean that everything they put out would be accurate or of value.
Are you asking that I place value on something you would write without reading and evaluating it on it’s singular merit?
The whole subject of a PhD originally came from mrcontroversy and his comment as follows;
mrcontroversy

“And how many boxtops did Wheeler send in to get his PhD? What is it in, anything real or relevant?”
I simply answered his question with respect to that question.
Frankly, as this conversation has progressed I would be placing less and less “weight” on anything you wrote, diatribe or not.
His posts here should be viewed as commercials for the Republican party.
Good idea, and the Eagle can charge him for advertising. Wouldn’t THAT be a kick?
Clinton supporters always knew they would do what was best for the party and for America. They are true champions. And it was Obama’s people and republicans who liked to try to demonize them as simply so power hungry that they would stop at nothing.
Obama obviously doesn’t have the same ideal of doing what is right for the country or he’d had put HER on the ticket.
Predestined Posted August 28, 2008 at 5:15 pm |
“His posts here should be viewed as commercials for the Republican party.”
In that case I will probably place a great deal of ‘weight’ on the positive value of them.
PMom, here’s my take on the VP choice.
First, we know Senator Clinton’s talents would have been wasted in the job.
And there would have been embarrassment (at least) in the vetting process.
As for making a show of asking her so she could turn it down — the Republicans who are the best at slander would have used that to their advantage. If there had been the offer there would also have been the criticisms — BIG ones, and it wasn’t worth it! She wouldn’t have accepted, it was a waste of her talents and so why open the door to more criticisms?
When President Clinton said, “And in his first presidential decision, the selection of a running mate, he hit it out of the park,” he acknowledged the whole VP situation without leaving any room for criticism. Yes, you have to read between the lines, but it’s all there in his words.
It was handled perfectly.
“Then let him present his “similar diatribe against McCain” and we’ll see if it would carry the same weight with me as the one done by Wheeler.”
I’m sure if Wheeler himself wrote a diatribe against mccain, it would not carry as much weight with you as the one he did on Obama.
The Repubs. would’ve been calling biden a 2nd choice v.p.
Not good.
That’s only one of the criticisms I can think of. And I’m not going to post material for Paul the paid Republican political shill. He gets his advertising space free and still draws his salary. I won’t help!
Or, they would’ve been saying, Hillary saw no future for the ticket. If they’d hinted at a S.C. slot, con world would’ve gone crazy.
political mama
I understand how you feel. And to an extent I agree.
Hillary Clinton would have been wasted in the office of Vice President. Too, she may not want to have have been asked.
Your feelings though, demonstrate that Obama is making a CRITICAL mistake in not mentioning this or seeing that is mentioned in any capacity.
Hillary didn’t mention it. Bill tried to bury it by saying what a great choice Biden was.
But you and me and probably several million other Hillary supporters need some sort of answer.
Was she even asked? If not, why not?
Obama MUST address this tonight. IF he does not, he risks permanently alienating several million voters. It clearly is a deal breaker for you. And myself I don’t like unanswered questions.
He has felt himself above political reality before and often. This is one he can’t win without confronting.
I really think the Repub. party listens to Paul about as much as we dems. do. Even in as low regard I hold the party, I think they would never pay for his representative ability.
Well he told us last Monday night that his job is to post things and then report what got reactions. Further he reports back info from “smart libs” (his words) who engage him. Want me to go get his exact words? It’s easy!
“When President Clinton said, “And in his first presidential decision, the selection of a running mate, he hit it out of the park,” he acknowledged the whole VP situation without leaving any room for criticism. Yes, you have to read between the lines, but it’s all there in his words.
It was handled perfectly.”
I’m sorry linda but you are very wrong here.
Political mama, myself and kfg prove it.
How many people are there out there that want a better answer? My guess is 2 to 3 million.
Can Obama afford to bet 2 or 3 million votes on not answering a question?
BlueJay, If your question is confronted it will be in a similar way President Clinton did it and you’ll still need to read between the lines. The way it was handled was the very best way to handle it for ALL involved, especially the Clintons.
Fine, I’m wrong. I’m OK with that.
Franklin paulie is a washed up party hack.
The way to deal with him is to make sure that at least once or twice on every thread he posts, we mention that we know just what he is up to.
I read them when he posted them, just not buying it. Although, I do sometimes thing the Dem. party ought to be reading the Weblog, to pick up some ideas.
We’ll find out late November 4th (with any luck!). I do remember an election that took a long time to get final results.
Bringing up what should be in the past won’t change those election results.
I, for one, didn’t want to see the Clintons embarrassed! I respect both of them.
Linda my take is IF they ever confront it at all, it will be down the road in some out of the way forum.
Senator Clinton will mention that she didn’t want the job.
They HAVE to make the question go away.
IF they do it as I suspect? I feel disrespected.
I can’t think of anything the Clintons do that would stay out of the news. That’s not going to change. They are BOTH powerhouses in the Democratic Party and their power isn’t going to diminish.
I don’t know if this is factual but it sure sounds like it could be.
Obama supporter calling for help.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4g8KfQ6uTP0
That’s what happens when you have a 911 operator that is a mccain supporter!
In that case I will probably place a great deal of ‘weight’ on the positive value of them.
And to hell with truth in advertising? LOL
Oh come on Predestined, you’re just too easy now.
You know that was intended as a joke, especially after the questioning I gave him earlier.
You Dems need to lighten up and laugh more.
Now, a reporter very critical of Haliburton, has found a similar DEMOCRAT Iraq – Rezco scandal:
“Now we see what some might suspect as similiar financial escapading from the Democrats.
Two years ago, Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity gave a $50 million contract to a start-up security company – Companion- owned by now-indicted businessman Tony Rezko and a onetime Chicago cop,Daniel T. Frawley, to train Iraqi power-plant guards in the United States. An Iraqi leadership change left the deal in limbo. Now the company, Companion Security, is working to revive its contract.
Involved along with Antoin “Tony” Rezco, long time friend and neighbor of Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama, and former cop Daniel T. Frawley, is Aiham Alsammarae. Alsammarae was accused of financial corruption by Iraqi authorities and jailed in Iraq last year before escaping and returning here.
Sources in December told the Chicago Sun-Times the feds are investigating Rezko’s dealings in Iraq. Aiham Alsammarae, who lives in the Chicago area and was a college classmate of Rezko, is a dual U.S.-Iraqi citizen. He left his post as Iraq’s electricity minister in May 2005, about a month after Companion got the contract.
Companion’s contract called for it to fly 150 Iraqis to the United States for police-type training. Among the subjects: how to shoot AK-47 rifles.
Frawley, 56, was a Chicago cop for seven months in 1977. He has owned businesses that sell resins to make plastic bags. He is a friend of Rezko’s former business partner Daniel Mahru, an attorney for Companion when it got the Iraqi contract. Frawley and Rezko owned Companion, according to two sources. Frawley wants U.S. officials to persuade the Iraqi government to honor the contract he signed on April 18, 2005, when Aiham Alsammarae ran Iraq’s electricity agency.
Chicago Media, responsible and politically aware list Antoin Rezco as a “contributer to Obama’s Presidential campaign”. In fact the relationship is somewhat more involved than that. This exccerpt is from an article I wrote for Associated Content some months ago:
In June, 2005, Barack Obama and Antoin “Tony” Rezko purchased adjoining parcels of land in Kenwood, IL. The Junior Senator from Illinois paid $1.65 million for a Georgian Revival Mansion, $300,000 less than the asking price. On the same day, Tony Rezko paid $625,000 for the adjacent undeveloped lot.
In July, 2006, in an effort to increase the size of his side-yard, and for the purpose of building a fence, Barack Obama paid Rezko $104,500 for a ten foot wide strip of his land.
Political fundraiser Antoin Rezko in under indictment for seeking kick-backs from firms. He is known as a promoter of gambling interests. Obama has steadfastly voted against gambling concerns.
Obama and Rezko have been friends for several years, and have occasionally dined together in a foursome, with their wives. ”

Who is al sammmarae?
He is a fugitive from Iraqi justice:
