You are ever so safe running away. Us older dykes would quickly get out of breath trying to chase ya down.

But hey, we were HELL on the softball field when we were young...

"ksfarmgrrl" on Melissa Etheridge --

<i>"Vichy queer"</i>

Okay, that's funny.

A bit harsh, but funny.

There's no fighting like infighting with your friends.

That's probably the reason I get along pretty good with most Lesbians I've known. I refuse to take any s#it from them; I run away like a sissy from the fight.

"Most people know where Democrats stand on those issues so why stir up the Boxlickers in the electorate by mentioning them?"

And why continue to pander to the boxlickers of the world?

Heheheheheh. And what is Tammy Baldwin SUPPOSED to say? What do you think her position in congress would be if she didnt toe the party line? She'd be cleaning the restrooms in the house gym.

And, it's interesting to note from your link:

"But the platform draft approved Aug. 9 by the party’s 186-member Platform Committee apparently omits any mention of the words “gay” or “lesbian,” which had been included in the Democrats’ 2004 platform.

The document, discussed by Democratic officials and gay activists during a conference call Monday with reporters, was not publicly available. The Democratic National Committee has yet to release a final draft of the platform approved in Pittsburgh.

The document also apparently omits a provision in the 2004 platform that declared the party’s opposition to a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, which the older document called a divisive effort by President Bush to “politicize the constitution.”

So it's a weaker document than the one in 2004?

Color me shocked...

"Boxlock, that sounds like a death threat! Don’t let Pmom prevent you from posting here!"

Thanks Max, not a chance of P_moma or anyone else doing that. Lost interest is the only thing that would stop or slow my posting, and that is a real possibility as their input is so shallow most times.
Remember, I enjoy their insults, it confirms they are reading my posts....like what I'm saying or not they ARE reading my posts.

I hope so too. With the exception of Hillary mentioning gay rights in her speech, that and choice have been played pretty quietly at the convention.

And please, what are the stonewall DEMOCRATS supposed to say?

They have to roll over and kiss the feet of their masters, or they wont even get CRUMBS, much less bread. The one thing both the mclurkin and finney incidents have proven is that it's ok to phuck gay people at will. It brings no consequences.

A lot of gay folks, from Washington to Wichita, seem to be democrats FIRST, and gay people second.

Leaders of six national gay and transgender advocacy organizations, including the National Stonewall Democrats, nevertheless hailed the 2008 document as the strongest platform on gay and transgender issues ever approved by a major U.S. political party.

U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisc.), the only openly lesbian member of Congress and a member of the 15-member platform drafting committee, called the platform’s provisions on gay and transgender issues “historic.” Baldwin said the document would set the tone for expanding the rights of “all GLBT people” in the next several years.

She also noted the gay and transgender rights provisions were “fully supported” by Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, who is the party’s presumptive presidential nominee.

Pmom, I honor you and your service. I'm glad to be on your side too!

"Perhaps that is where we can begin- changing the hearts and minds of the black community leaders to recognize the gay community as a struggle that needs the same equality."

Good luck with that.

I'll still support good candidates like Donald Betts, Oletha, etc. We need them to lead the bigots in their community out of the wilderness.

"But on the whole, obama is not a part of the African American community that walks it’s talk regarding equal protection under the law. Equal rights under the constitution. If he wins? It’s going to be a long four years for the gay community.

"Just like it will be a long four years if mcsame wins. No matter what, my people just got a four year set back."

I respectfully disagree with the equivalence you draw here. I understand your irritation and indeed disgust over the McClurkin incident, and I also understand how that could be a deal breaker for you with Obama. However, I also think it is a mistake to use that to draw a predictive equivalence between the results of a McCain versus an Obama election, because there is a difference between the candidates, if in nothing else then in who they would appoint to the federal judiciary. Civil rights reform is often started in the courts before the elected governments and the populace who voted for them evolve to widespread acceptance. The tide of history on this issue, given the demographics in this country, is inevitable, but justices selected by a McCain presidency would be likely to slow that tide down.

Finally, I have seen no evidence, NONE, that Barack Obama will be intentionally hostile to GLBT issues. The worst (and I am not saying that this would be OK in any way shape or form) one could expect would be neglect. From McCain, far worse (active hostility) can be expected.

I won't let them phuck you KFG. Sister, I've been fighting long and hard. I'm on the state board of the sisterhood, remember?

And remember what it stands for- equality for all. No more- no less. I want the right to marry any person of legal age that I choose- whether it be a man or a woman. I hurt for you that you are not allowed to marry the person you love- legally.

But it goes beyond that- to as long as you sit down and shut up- they'll treat you like you have a 'roommate'.

I know, we have that here. Our gay community is great in number- and they all are very quiet about it. How sad.

I can't say I feel your pain- but I certainly empathize with it.

By the way? check out the site 1100 torches.
We have much work to do.

Perhaps that is where we can begin- changing the hearts and minds of the black community leaders to recognize the gay community as a struggle that needs the same equality.

By the way? check out the site 1100 torches.
We have much work to do.

Perhaps that is where we can begin- changing the hearts and minds of the black community leaders to recognize the gay community as a struggle that needs the same equality.

Yeah JR on your back, how comfortable would that be?

JR has been on the back of taxpayers for years.

And you know, if Hillary had really done her part, Monica would not have had to do her part.

PSALM 2008-2012

FIRST BOOK OF DEMOCRAT

Obama Is My Shepherd, I Shall Not Want.
He Leadeth Me Beside Still Factories,
He Restoreth My Faith In The Republican Party,
He Guideth Me In The Paths Of Unemployment.

Yea, Though I Walk Through The Valley Of The Bread Line, I Shall Not Go Hungry.

Obama Has Anointed My Income With Taxes,
My Expenses Runneth Over My Income,
Surely, Poverty And Hard Living Will Follow Me All The Days Of My Life.

The Democrats And I Will Live Forever In a Rented Room.

But I Am Glad I Am an American,
I Am Glad That I Am Free.
But I Wish I Was A Dog
And Obama A Tree.

It is a hallmark of prejudice kfg.

The once persecuted and oppressed have an unfortunate need to find someone new to fill the need for a target for hate.

Me? I'm a straight white man. The only oppressions I know is the Republican party I used to belong to.

In reading Thomas Frank's book, I have come to be aware of something.

The conservative movement is insatiable in its appetite. And so, ultimately it must consume...

   itself.

"Screw ‘em…but, please, not literally"

Heheheh. Not to worry Pre. I dont waste my talents so lightly. And you KNOW what I mean! I could make their eyes roll back in their heads while they are screaming "mommy"... but why would I want to? heheheh.

I'm proud to stand with you too. Always. And Linda and Pmom and Mary and JR and Rage, and Steven, and Kansas Native, and well, hell. you all know who you are. I'm bound to leave so many out, please dont take offense.

And yeah. I think obama will make equality of marriage a very low priority. Which is the same as stopping it. I dont know if you are aware of the deep divisions between the black community and the gay community. It's deep, and it's mean, from the top of govenment to it's lowest levels.

And that hurts. As someone who fought for civil rights for all races, I know, they couldnt have gotten their equality, such as it is, without the help of white folks doing the right thing.

And we cant get equality, such as it will be, without straight folks of all stripes standing with us. The homophobia in the black community is deep and mean, particularly in black churches. I saw what it did to my most excellent ex. I've seen what it had done to other gay and black friends.

It has to be stopped. An explosive conflict between those groups is simmering just below the surface. But it will burst open some day like an infected sore. I wish they'd recognize our struggle the way we have recognized theirs.

It deeply disappoints me. And the sight of those black ministers testifying AGAINST equal civil rights for me and mine is SEARED into my memory.

I dont know what it will take to get it out of my soul. But watching obama use that division to win in south carolina by kissing the ass of mcclurkin, the poster boy for black bigotry, is something many of us will carry for a long time. A scar on our soul. It will heal, but the mark will always remain to remind us...

We cant trust these people and their churches. Oh yeah, there are heros, like Donald Betts, Oletha Faust Godeau, and lady in the KS Senate who's name escapes me. They are our brothers and sisters who will not make US sit at the back of the bus, or throw us under the bus.

But they were punished by their own communities for helping us. This a long road to be traveled, and it's filled with potholes and detours and slick spots. I thank them for offering a steady hand as we travel the road to equality.

But on the whole, obama is not a part of the African American community that walks it's talk regarding equal protection under the law. Equal rights under the constitution. If he wins? It's going to be a long four years for the gay community.

Just like it will be a long four years if mcsame wins. No matter what, my people just got a four year set back.

And yeah, in addition to the Makers Mark and Xanex, it's going to be a looooong damn sleepless night for us.

Kinda hard to sleep with one eye open.

They phucked up. It's up to them to come to us for reconciliation.

And I'm sorry, but the devil will meet yet another musician at The Crossroads before that happens.

But god bless Donald Betts for standing up to the little church ladies and doing the right thing. Too bad gail finney couldnt do the same, even as an officer of the County democratic party.

<i>But we don’t have to shut up and sing.</i>

Hey, BlueJay, I don't want you to. We all have to make sure our reps (including our President) are toeing the line. That's something the Right doesn't bother with. They don't question, they don't push, they just wander along behind.

There's a caller on CSPAN RIGHT NOW from Wichita!! She's mentioning having considered writing in Hillary as a sort of "protest", but she's ready to vote for Obama. Stand together, stand firm.

KFG,

Do you believe Obama would try to stop that change you personally need?

We put too much on individuals, and I don't mean you and yours. I believe I understand where you're coming from, as best I can. Many of us have been in the same situation before. You and I have. Linda, Mary, P_mama have. We're women. And I think we can swing him over to our side. He won't stop us. He can't.

I'd be proud to have you stand with me. You and P both. I will gladly stand with you and let my voice be heard. But it's going to take ALL of us.

As for the rest of these nutjobs here? Screw 'em...but, please, not literally.
