The task had to be bittersweet, but Hillary Clinton did an outstanding job Tuesday night in Denver of reaching out to her disappointed supporters. In a lengthy speech, she made an upbeat, direct plea for Democrats to rally behind Barack Obama and, most important, defeat Republican nominee-to-be John McCain. “You haven’t worked so hard over the last 18 months, or endured the last eight years, to suffer through more failed leadership,” Clinton said to convention delegates. “No way. No how. No McCain.” And no question that Clinton did her part Tuesday night to try to unify the party after the primary fight. Now, will her delegates — her “sisterhood of the traveling pantsuits,” as she called them — fall in line, or cause a ruckus during tonight’s roll call vote?

Okay, let’s see if I can repeat yesterday’s feat:
A negative response will be offered in 3… 2…
How ironic, that if obama wins, he really has Hillary to thank for it. Had she not laid down the law to her supporters, obama would have been screwed. And he still may be. It’s up to him now. If he loses, he cant blame Hillary. There’s nothing more she could do, no way she could make it more clear, that she is COMMANDING her supporters to vote for obama. Rachel Maddow noted late last night that anyone who COULD be persuaded was persuaded. If they are not now persuaded to vote for obama, they will never be persuaded. And as she noted, those who can not be moved are now outside the bounds of the debate.
Unfortunately, I guess that includes me. Like JR, I can easily be against mcsame. But obama offers nothing to me as a rural, lesbian woman. Especially in Kansas, where my vote will most likely not count unless it is for mcsame.
The democrats should have no complaints against Hillary now. Obama needs to man up and take responsibility for the outcome, win or lose. And win or lose, he needs to thank Hillary for her grace and her support.
Hee hee heeeeeee Mr. C!
An interesting look at what the MSM had to say this morning…
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132×6772931
And ya know, Hillary did last night what women always do. They put aside their own personal hurts for the good of the family. They suck it up, they bring everyone together, they work through the pain, they make sure the kids have clean clothes and there is food on the table.
And they heal their own souls if there is any time to themselves.
I predicted yesterday that she would make the democrats sorry she was not the nominee.
I think I was right.
I don;t support HIllary but that has to be a classic line, and one I agree with
“No way. No how. No McCain”
And the other classic line “Did you come to the campaign for me or for them (veterans, cancer victim etc)?”
(insert negative response here)
“And the other classic line “Did you come to the campaign for me or for them (veterans, cancer victim etc)?””
Sadly, for many delegates, to campaign for her.
I predicted yesterday that she would make the democrats sorry she was not the nominee.
I think I was right.
———————————————————-
ksfarmgirl, I couldn’t agree with you more. I believe that was her main message. If she is smart, which I think she is, she will want McCain to win because it will make it easier for her to win when she runs again in 2012. She is not about to roll over and give up, she has wanted this presidency since she was young girl and her father told her she would be president some day.
In addition, her husband made a speech yesterday where he was referring to cadidate X(McCain) and candidate Y(Obama). For a good laugh here is the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4lHJ_dL24k
Even the Onion didn’t think of “lesbian farm girls from rural Kansas.”
No Borg Hunter, she wants Obama to win to stop you people from ruining the country.
I thought Bill Clinton was one of the best presidents this country ever had. Unfortunately, as a husband, he makes a great president. Like as a tax accountant, Willie Nelson is a great guitar player.
Bill is the reason Hillary is not the nominee. So.. I had a little problem with him tearing up and saying “I love you” over and over.
Uh.. it’s a little late Bill.
But it goes to show what character Hillary has. To put the good of her family, to honor her marriage vows, even when the whole world thought she was nuts for doing so.
Like my Dad said, in the long run, you can never go wrong doing the right thing. And I think Hillary knows, no matter what she does, if obama loses, the whiners will blame her. If he loses, she’s toast. She wants him to win. In four more years, he may be toast, given the impossible task facing the next president.
THEN she can run again.
I could not have been more proud of her last night!
And for the Hillary haters, I’m reminded of the song “one’s too many and a hundred’s not enough”.
…and at the risk of futile tail chasing in the “I spy nic switching” game…
Does anyone think the borg hunter reminds them of grmie?
“lesbian farm girls from rural Kansas.”
Hehehehe. Well, we are a pretty small cohort. Which is, of course, why no one gives a rat’s ass about our vote…
Long time readers here will remember.
Among all the Democratic candidates, Senator Clinton was originally the one I resisted the most.
I didn’t like the whole dynasty thing with the bush and Clinton families.
Then? Barack Obama started making Republican noises and I had to distance myself from him.
Even as the entire world seemed to fall into orbit around a candidate we knew almost nothing about. For Senator Clinton to have stuck the fight as long as she did against the collected juggernaut of the media and the masses of bleating, fainting sheep chanting “change” was truly remarkable.
This will not endear me to Obama supporters. Well, as we know I have never much concerned myself about that. They must earn MY endearment now.
Senator Clinton was leaned on to end her campaign. She did so when she didn’t have to.
She could have made a fight of the convention. And I’ll venture there was enough buyer’s remorse in the air that she could have taken the nomination. Only to lose the election and divide the party. Instead she has done beyond the call of duty. In probably the most parsed and analyzed speech by any politician in history. Living a moment that had to be near as hurtful as Al Gore certifying the eletors in an election stolen from him. She was gracious, flawless, perfect. She has handed the White House to Senator Obama.
If only Obama can reach his hand back in the general direction of the Democratic base. There are amends to make. There are positions to clarify.
There ARE wounds to heal.
In eight years of misery, we have at least been comforted that it was our election to lose.
Now? It is Barack Obama’s election to win.
“Bill is the reason Hillary is not the nominee. So.. I had a little problem with him tearing up and saying “I love you” over and over.”
Yeah, and did you notice him first glancing quickly at the camera to make sure the little red light was on before he would mouth his words for the camera?
Typical Bill Clinton.
“Especially in Kansas, where my vote will most likely not count unless it is for mcsame.”
I am optimistic that this year will be different.
I have faith that there are enough people who want change and want to make a statement by NOT voting Republican in Kansas, that Obama (or whoever runs against the republican candidate) could win Kansas.
For that to happen though, everyone who wants a change needs to vote nonRepublican - even if you think your vote will not count.
That’s just awesome.
Obama wins and “you people” won’t be able to ruin the country anymore!
I’m all for it! “you people” will probably just stop doing whatever you were doing to ruin the country simply because Obama is President.
Either that or Obama will make sure that “you people” are no longer given a voice in the government since “you people” have demonstrated your knack for “ruining” the country.
Sounds like a happy new day is dawning. The day when “you people” are silenced and suppressed since it has been shown that you will “ruin” the country.
That’s the new Hope and Change of an Obama Presidency? Huh?
Democracy is a term that does not go over well with Democrats.
For example, if they were truly democratic, they would allow for a vote at the convention. However the “you people” in this case are the Hillary supporters who might interfere with the facade of Unity. Therefore, lets silence the Hillary supporters and force a unaminous vote for Obama. All for the sake of not “ruining” the country.
“Bill is the reason Hillary is not the nominee.”
Oh, I think it’s safe to say that Hillary is where she is BECAUSE of Bill. While it’s painfully obvious that they don’t really care for each other, they NEED each other.
As usual, the Rude One has the definitive take. Rude language warning. If you are easily offended, dont click. And read his mini post after the long one. Heheheheheh. He’s one funny sumbiotch.
http://www.rudepundit.blogspot.com/
Oh yeah, an his post about Dennis Kucinich, my FIRST choice, is spot on. I wish I had the Rude One’s way with words.
Hey Farm Gal,
” Like as a tax accountant, Willie Nelson is a great guitar player.”
Hey! My neighbor is a tax accountant and a great guitarist, and last Saturday night we sang a fantastic duet of the Bush administration theme song “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out!”
“she will want McCain to win because it will make it easier for her to win when she runs again in 2012″
WRONG! Ted Kennedy thought that in 1980 - it doesn’t work.

“Bill is the reason Hillary is not the nominee.”
Oh, I think it’s safe to say that Hillary is where she is BECAUSE of Bill. While it’s painfully obvious that they don’t really care for each other, they NEED each other.
Actually it is BOTH. Had she not gotten a kick-start she probably would not have gotten as far as she did. However, Bill also limited her.
UNLESS - she had developed an independent political career in the first place. She is, IMO, the more intelligent of the two.
bth,
Perhaps. But I view them both as “all hat and no cattle.”
Clintistas will claim that Bill fostered the economic growth of the 90s. I’ll challenge them to show me the policies that did so. They won’t respond. We’ve been there countless times.
Bill is a gifted orator. He also can’t control his testosterone. Hillary is a stumbling speaker - monotone and absolutely no sense of timing.
Democrats vote their hearts, not their heads (ergo: bleeding heart…). They’re emotional. They LOVE the speech, even if it had no substance - like last night.
I’m willing to bet dollars to doughnuts that Obama’s message on Thursday will be all about change (change what?). All about “no more Bush” - ok, what do you plan to do differently? All about “right now!” (do what right now?).
Any takers?
Look say what you want about Hillary and Bill’s relationship- I see more to it than what people try to make of it.
They both started where we are- had the same dreams- concern for other people. Bill likes women and Hillary has likely known that for years.
I see no animosity towards Bill in that way. He was a dog, he was busted, and they have come out on top as a family. How can you dis that? Isn’t that what the right wingers want you to do? FAMILY no matter what?
If anything- THEIR marriage is the epitome of what a good marriage should be. You roll with the punches, and you get back up and fight like you’re on the same team.
Bill didn’t screw this up for Hillary. Bill did what he should have done, fiercely fight for his wife.
And to you Obama supporters- tell me. All those characteristics that you tried to put off about Hillary being selfish and only wanting to win. Do you see HOW wrong you were now? She did what she had to do for the party. She did it exceptionally well. Obama didn’t care about the party or he’d had put her on the ticket. We must make concessions but he can’t even make the most obvious pick to win?
Now we’re behind in the polls during a time when we absolutely should be ahead and gaining. Own up.
“And ya know, Hillary did last night what women always do. They put aside their own personal hurts for the good of the family. They suck it up, they bring everyone together, they work through the pain . . .”
Because men never do this?
Like on the beaches of Normandy for instance?
That’s the problem with “identity politics.” It pits people against each other with an “I suffered more than you, way more than you” meme.
I hate identity politics. It’s what’s almost fatally killed the Democratic party. We should stick to what matters–economics.
Nobody discriminates against green, money green.
Wrong testicle I had that fight with you years ago and I beat your behind…which is why you rarely really fight with me anymore.
“Wrong testicle I had that fight with you years ago and I beat your behind…which is why you rarely really fight with me anymore.”
Another lie.

I’m willing to bet dollars to doughnuts that Obama’s message on Thursday will be all about change (change what?).
_________________________________________________
I’m willing to take that bet! (if I win do I get dollars or doughnuts? I want the doughnuts)
Clinton’s speach is going to be about Clinton, CLinton’s policies and Clinton’s eight years and how Bush’s eight years screwed up all the good he did.
I will bet you there will be at least 20 ‘mes’, ‘Is’, ‘mines’ and various and asundry other possesive pronouns for every Obama. He’ll mention Hillary at least as often as Obama.
The press will go on and on about what a great speach it was and McCain will get another point in the tracking polls by noon on Thursday.
HEHEHEHEHE
Hey P-mom,
My wife is half Sicilian and half Irish. If I ever got caught marking trees in some one else’s yard she’d get drunk and hide the body!
In my wacky funde world, it’s grounds for divorce to fertilize someone elses garden.
Here’s an odd thought: can’t stomach Obama? Think McCain’s potato been baking too long?
Well, it’s predictably Republican Kansas (meaning McCain is likely to win in a blowout), but in the Internet age, your view can influence those beyond its borders (and hence get blamed for the outcome).
There are third party candidates. Bob Barr. Cynthia McKinney. Ralph Nader. Ron Paul (write-in campaign).
Why not support them all? Seriously. I haven’t lost my mind (yet). There’s no way in hell any one of them will actually win. And the voter demographics suggest it would be roughly an even swipe across the major parties’ bow.
WOw. The Democratic Party won;t say whether or not they will break their own rules. Of course, in my opinion, that holds true for either major parties. A POX on both their houses
Obama advisor Berman
“In an interview, Berman said convention rules call for the states to be called in alphabetical order to report their roll call votes, beginning with Alabama. However, Berman would not say whether that would happen this time.”
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080827/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_democratic_nomination
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. damn
Clinton’s speach is going to be about Clinton, CLinton’s policies and Clinton’s eight years and how Bush’s eight years screwed up all the good he did.
Why shouldn’t he do that, Hank? It’s a party convention, after all, based on the notion that there is a difference between the two organizations, and their approach to governing.
That hardly hurts the nominee.
I will vote either third party, or write in. I will NOT vote for the democratic or republican candidates. It will be a “wasted” vote, but perhaps if betwen now and them we can get enough people to vote likewise (any candidate, just third party or writein) maybe they will ge the messaage.
lj,
Here’s how it might work (without breaking, in a technical sense, the rules). A motion is made from the floor to suspend the rule about which you post; a second quickly follows, it (the motion for suspension) passes. Then, (assuming it is New York that is to go first) a motion is made to allow New York to answer the roll call first, with the rest of the states to follow in alphabetical order; seconded, etc., etc.
So, no rules are “broken”, just a procedural move to get the roll call out of the way as choreographed.
“Clinton’s speach is going to be about Clinton, CLinton’s policies and Clinton’s eight years and how Bush’s eight years screwed up all the good he did.”
As long as he makes sure he mentions that he had budget surpluses after inheriting record deficits from Poppy Bush - and that then Baby Bush eclipsed his daddy’s record for squandering America’s wealth. Sounds good to me!
VT - another method is for states to pass and let it get to NY. I have seen that done to allow a particular state put someone over the top.
Vaugn-
Gotcha. Just sick of the bs from both parties. “You break the rules”; You break them more” ;”Your guy sucks”; Your guy sucks more.; and on and on and on and on.
“I’ll challenge them to show me the policies that did so. They won’t respond. We’ve been there countless times.”
Actually we HAVE responded - balanced budgets helped.
Another thing, which drove Ron Thornburgh out of his mind (”They can’t do that!” why?). Vote-trading.
Here’s a “progressive” site: http://votepair.org/
Get an indie voter in a swing-state to vote for the major party candidate you dislike less. In exchange, you promise to vote for the third party candidate you were going to vote for anyway! :)
The best of both worlds.
Clinton’s speech will be about history repeating itself, except we’re in even more dire straits.
Bush’s speech will be about a continuation of his great leadership, NOT!
Clinton will nail another bush on ‘It’s the economy stupid!’
“. “At some point in the evening,a light is going to shine down and you will have an epiphany and you will say, ‘I have to vote for Barack.’”
Senator Barack Obama
Well? I guess the light aint found me yet?
I’m not sure what counts as an epiphany. Maybe if Kansas polls Obama within 5 points of McCain in Kansas on November 3rd? That would be the stuff of epiphanies.
And it IS what he ran on. Turning red states blue?
Here is a hint Senator Obama. You ran to win the primary. And despite all the screaming and fainting and a mountain of cash from the faithful?
Ya just barely pulled it off.
Now, maybe I’ve been wrong about you.
Maybe you have just been playing rope a dope reaching out to the rotten cons. I hope so.
Because you have got all of the middle squishies and disaffected cons you are gonna get.
HIT John McCain HARD. Reach back to your base. You took the fighter outta the fight. Now YOU have to toe the line and come up swinging.
An awful lot of people have just been disenfranchised to accomodate your ego. Do something to earn it.
Bush will say ‘We can not afford to let our great economic gains, and world leadership position go back to how it was, I’m voting for John Mcsame’
Right, Ben; forgot about “passing”.
DENVER–Police in Denver arrested an ABC News producer today as he and a camera crew were attempting to take pictures on a public sidewalk of Democratic Senators and VIP donors leaving a private meeting at the Brown Palace Hotel.
Hmm.
I think James Carville was spot on. You can keep the “hope” thing–hope is important–but the desperate stakes need to be driven home in the bluntest terms possible.
Now is not the time for nice.
P.S. You can keep the Jim Leach republicans too–so long as the divisions (yes, divisions, gotta have ‘em if you’re actually presenting a choice) need to be made clear.
P.P.S. In particular, Mr. Senator, you need to convince these people they’re making a huge mistake:
A new CNN poll, conducted Saturday and Sunday, showed that 27 percent of her voters now said they supported the Republican candidate.
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/27/dnc.main/
Hey ksfarmgirl, I don’t know who grmie is but that sure isn’t me. And do you always have to make a big point about being a lesbian. It doesn’t bother me but it seems as though you need to prove yourself by it. I may be a Christian but I don’t throw it in everyone’s face with every post that I make.
Florida just got to cast its votes.
No thanks be to Senator Obama…
Even the role call is being jiggered to make it look like an Obama landslide.
Sigh….
Change?
There are the niceties. There is courtesy.
And then there is I guess Senator Obama’s considerable ego.
Which way is it Hillary? Obama, one way or the other.
What Hillary really thinks.
http://election.newsmax.com/mccain_3am.html?s=sp&promo_code=68A3-1
TheBorgHunter,
It’s typical of those with a more radical homosexual agenda to push it in everyone’s face.
I wouldn’t care either if she’d just keep quiet and not try and for in on others as normal.
Ops, that’s;
I wouldn’t care either if she’d just keep quiet and not try and force it on others as normal.
Just my opinion, Germ is on a different level of nastiness than TheBorgHunter could ever even conceive of, I would imagine.
Which reminds me of the book the Watermark owner was hawking: Laura Bush: An Imagined Life which would be different from ksgrm: A life one hopes to never imagine.
A new CNN poll, conducted Saturday and Sunday, showed that 27 percent of her voters now said they supported the Republican candidate.
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/27/dnc.main/
Ya know, a second thought occurred to me: how does know these are her voters?
Hey borg and box.
Phuck you and the horses you rode in on.
I dont mind straight people either as long as they act gay in public.
With the full 100% support of Hillary Clinton and by unanimous acclamation, Barack Obama is chosen the Democratic nominee for President of the United States.
“Phuck you and the horses you rode in on.”
Like clockwork.
tic toc tic toc
Well, Clinton said “all the votes will be counted.” That’s important.
Though I thought Nancy was tad quick with that gavel!
Gooood one, grrl! Woo Hoo! And, your friends do know how to act gay in public!
“ksgrm: A life one hopes to never imagine.”
Hee hee hee hee heeeeeeeeeee!
Funny, but that “stay in the closet” crap is the same thing grmie always posts. We’ll see.
Gee, I’d like to try acting gay in public. What do I have to do? I had a drink or two at the gay bar I used to live near, but I have a feeling that’s not enough!
Could someone email me the gay agenda? :)
So… it’s ok for boxlicker to talk about his wife and kids, job, etc. It’s ok for grmie to talk about her life, her kids, her hubby, etc.
But it’s not ok for me to talk about my life?
Hehehehehehehehehehehehehhe.
See, there’s this thing called the scroll button. When you see my name? You should use it.
But you wont.
Sorry Rage, but it’s a secret….
I generally do.
Not a single boo in the house when Obama was nominated by acclamation!
Thanks Linda. But actually, I love my friend no matter HOW they act in public. At the Frank book signing, I couldnt have been prouder to be one of you guys!
Oh and nut boy? Remember. I’m twice the woman you’ll ever have, and three times the man you’ll ever be.
But my friends already knew that…
hee hee heeeee. But nut boy wont know, because, um, ya know, he’s scrolling over me. I can tell every time because he, ya know, responds to my every post.
Like clockwork.
Oh and nut boy? Remember. I’m twice the woman you’ll ever have, and three times the man you’ll ever be.
But my friends already knew that…
Heheh, omg, yer on fire today!
I’ve heard about how you look, Nag.
No thanks.
“I’m twice the woman you’ll ever have”
In size, likely.
Sorry, Dave, word of your enormous girth proceeds you.
But i don’t doubt your women are slim and sexy–at least if you budgeted the correct amount. . .
I’m sorry I missed the book signing. Sounds like it was fun.
“I dont[sic] mind straight people either as long as they act gay in public”
The point is kfg, why do you feel the need to act gay or homosexual in public.
It’s very small minded.
There is no reason to act gay or straight in public at all.
That is unless you are perverted, or demented….which is it, or both?
kfg further posts;
“So… it’s ok for boxlicker to talk about his wife and kids, job, etc. It’s ok for grmie to talk about her life, her kids, her hubby, etc.
But it’s not ok for me to talk about my life?”
I don’t even hint at sexual orientation when talking about wife, kids, job, etc., or in relation to anything else either. That’s common decency and courtesy.
But you do….that’s what sick, and childish.
I think the issue might be that we tend to show physical affection to our ‘other’ in public. If I give my wife a kiss or hold her hand nobody notices or cares. If, however, a same-sex couple does the exact same thing there are ‘issues’
Knock ‘em down farmgrrl!
The point is kfg, why do you feel the need to act gay or homosexual in public.
It’s very small minded.
There is no reason to act gay or straight in public at all.
You’re truly twisted. What the hell is “acting gay or straight in public”? Trying to get laid? Kissing? A leather outfit?
What?
And why is it your business? Is Officer Botox going to start patrolling the singles’ bars?
“why do you feel the need to act gay or homosexual in public.
It’s very small minded.”
What kind of blockhead remark is that?
I’ve met kfg..three times now.
There is not a kinder, warmer, friendlier person in this world.
But she doesn’t wantonly kiss on, fondle, maul or otherwise act out in any offensive way with the women in her near vicinity.
Unless you count hugs which she distributes liberally and without prejudice.
Oh please boxlicker. I dont act gay or straight in public either. I act like me. As Rage pointed out, WTF does “acting gay” mean? Ben, you are correct. If I call my sweetie “sweetie” in public, hold her hand, share a special look, let her eat off my plate in a restaurant, or go shopping for BEDDING, is that acting gay? Or acting like normal people in love? I think the latter.
And… you need to button up boxy. Your ignorance and bigotry are showing. When you talk about your WIFE, that isnt invoking orientation?
jesus WEPT. Only in boxlicker’s world.
I see boxie hasnt found the scroll button yet…
Be careful, Jay: hanging out with lesbians has been known to cause secular humanism. :)
“Trying to get laid? Kissing? A leather outfit?”
Nope. We still havent found it. I’ve seen straight couples do and wear all those things.
Maybe for guys it would be shopping for designer home furnishings? For women it would be going to Home Depot and checking out the tool belts?
heheheheh. Nope. I’ve STILL seen straight folks do all those things.
I’ll continue to ponder.
KN, she calls you too?
hahahahahaha
BlueJay and kfg,
This is a public place and you most certainly do act out you sexuality here.
To deny that is simply a lie.
“secular humanism”
Is that catching? Do they use antibiotics for that?
Or just garlic and a silver cross, er silver bullet?
Hehehehe. No boxy, I post about my life and make off color jokes. I’ve noticed straight folks do both of those things with great regularity.
Come on. Admit it. You LOVE my posts. Otherwise? You’d use the scroll function and quit posting your horses’ ass responses.
“But she doesn’t wantonly kiss on, fondle, maul or otherwise act out in any offensive way with the women in her near vicinity.”
Funny thing, but the meetup I brought my sweetie to, her only complaint was that I paid too much attention to my blog buddies and not enough attention to HER!
Does that make us sound like an old married couple or WHAT!
Women. Cant live with ‘em, and cant live without ‘em.
Officer Kotex thinks a blog is a public place? Since registration its more like a private club.
Nope. We still havent found it. I’ve seen straight couples do and wear all those things.
But Boxy wants to keep straight couples from doing these things too, I guess.
This is a public place and you most certainly do act out you sexuality here.
To deny that is simply a lie.
Uhhh. . .this is just too weird.
COME JOIN THE WEBlog ORGY! OHH YESSS! BABY!! TALK TO ME, BOXY! TASTE MY PHILOSOPICAL NAUGHTINESS! CARESS MY POLITICAL SARCASM!
DOOOO ME BABY!!! YESSSSS!! OH GOD. . . I’M ARRIVEING!
Rage…………don’t get old boxtop toooooo excited!
LOL
I get such a laugh out of it, the perverts are all grouping like hyenas, you know the jackals they are. Sub-life forms that live and associate in the dark, cowards, ashamed of themselves but determined to force their lives on others.
They are to be pitied actually….it’s pretty sad.
“BlueJay and kfg,
This is a public place and you most certainly do act out you sexuality here.”
I DO? Outside of posting once that Jamie Spears looked older than 16, I can’t think of anything I ever said in that direction.
Have you somehow managed to delude yourself into thinking that I am gay because I have a gay friend?
Sub-life forms that live and associate in the dark, cowards
So many of the people here have you met in person? I could produce a list.
And I think Jay could probably produce the longest list of us all.
OMG Rage, I’m HOWLING!
“Sub-life forms that live and associate in the dark, cowards, ashamed of themselves but determined to force their lives on others”
Oh fer christ’ sake boxy.
If we speak openly and have a hoot at a con-free meetup, we’re acting out in a public space. And if we slink around behind closed oors, we’re ashamed of ourselves and live and associate in the dark.
Jesus WEPT. Stupid is as stupid does.
heheheh. Closed doors. I have been behind a closed oor since I was a randy teenager…
…and back to the topic.
Hillary has been one classy biotch through this whole convention, no?
I hope Bill is as classy tonight as she, and Chelsea, have been. I think he will be. He’s never missed running to the head of the parade. heheheh.
Damn I’m glad your like is dying out Boxlock.
Folks? I figured out how he has made me into
“Sub-life forms that live and associate in the dark, cowards, ashamed of themselves but determined to force their lives on others”
I proudly called kansasfarmgrrl my friend and I admitted I have hugged her.
Obviously I must have been infected!
Hillary has been one classy biotch through this whole convention, no?
Yep.
I hope Bill is as classy tonight as she, and Chelsea, have been. I think he will be.
Yep. He’ll be Bill Clinton.
Bill Clinton has been called the politician of the century.
But seeing Hillary in action the last year and a half?
I think she has been the brains of the outfit all along. Bill’s a gladhander. Hillary knows the dance and all of its steps.
So it ends up to have nothing to do with sexuality at all! “Boxlock” hates lispers and dykes.
Rock Hudson good. Liberace bad.
Portia de Rossi good. Rosie O’Donnel scary.
Consider the choreography today.
I predicted things would go pretty much the way they did today back in June.
I do wish they had done a full role call and THEN Hillary would have called for acclimation. What would it have hurt? Why bully the delegates and shuffle the states to make it look like a landslide?
BlueJay - I think it has to do with the schedule - Bill Clinton is set to speak during prime time.
I dunno, “BlueJay” –
As it played out it looked very Clintonian. (and I mean that in a good way)
She gets her roll call, makes a bit of a grandstand move for the purpose of party unity.
I hope/expect Bill Clinton to give one last inspirational touchy-feely speech that ends up with outrage at how good it was in the 90s and how much Shrub fuc#ed it up.
I hope/expect Biden to lay into John S (for Senile) McCain the Third (for Shrub’s 3rd term) along the theme of “The John McCain of 2000 wouldn’t vote for the 2008 version. He wouldn’t even recognized today’s John McCain. He’d probably be afraid he was in the wrong house.”
Biden has 30 years of behind-the-scenes in the Senate with McC*nt. He knows what John McCain the Maverick said he was for and Biden knows how different that is from McBush.
Sadly, http://www.alternet.org/blogs/rights/96627/
Box works security it seems.
Thankfully we’ve made progress and the others figured it out that it wasn’t offensive and took action.
And the passing of Del Martin is sad indeed. What a triumphant end to a triumphant life.
I would never blame Hillary if, by some stretch of the imagination or the nasty, dirty lies spread by the Right/Always Wrong, Obama does not win. I suspect things will pick up for the last two months of this race. It’ll go fast.
For those, whether libs or not yet committed, still on the fence or unable to accept Hillary’s request to unite, I do understand your disappointment. And, like you, I hope Barack Obama fulfills what he’s promised and offered. But I would feel the same no matter who the candidate. There are no guarantees with anyone.
Obama has inspired, and at this time, that is a seriously important thing. He’s offered hope and change in a nation divided more than ever. More than by race, whether black/white or other. More than by male/female. More than gay/straight. We know we can’t survive another 4 like the last 8. By not suporting Obama, the numbers and the power weaken. Please help us all bring healing when you step into the voting booth.
I get such a laugh out of it, the perverts are all grouping like hyenas, you know the jackals they are. Sub-life forms that live and associate in the dark, cowards, ashamed of themselves but determined to force their lives on others.
You been looking in the mirror, boxy?
Pre- why did he choose to divide us further. I just don’t get it.
Was his seething hatred of Hillary seriously that bad that he had to blow this?
Seething hatred? When?
Dividing us? Did you want only one candidate to run? Guess what? That wouldn’t have been Hillary. She WILL have her time. She deserves it.
I don’t understand you at all. You seem to be able to see things and know things that no one else can. I haven’t come on this blog and dissed Hillary. I admit to having some reservations where she’s concerned, but she would have my vote if nominated.
Be my guest. Throw this COUNTRY under the bus, but when it’s over, and you’re whining because your life is on the road to hell in a handbasket, I’ll be the first to point out why.
Bull you cannot blame me for this! I’d be mad as heck at Hillary if she would have thrown Obama under the bus and all of his supporters- because it would have been for the detriment of the party and the country.
Obama doesn’t seem to care that he just blew it. Do you not see what is happening? How come you can’t tell him he screwed up. We always yell at the other side for accountability- this man is accountable for the unity of our party- and he’s blown it- big time. He’s blown the election big time.
Rage,
I’m sure you meant to type “precedes” not “proceeds”.
Just a casual typo. Right?
No, I don’t see what is happening.
This is POLITICS, P. I know you aren’t new to it.
Obama blew what? Not asking Hillary to be VP? How do YOU know she wanted it? How do YOU know they didn’t discuss it?
There’s a winner and there’s a non-winner. That’s life. It’s a FACT. The majority, even by a very slim majority, chose Obama. Yes, you’re angry, but don’t be foolish. If YOU want to see any change, YOU are responsible. Obama–or Clinton, for that matter–cannot do this alone.
“I get such a laugh out of it, the perverts are all grouping like hyenas, you know the jackals they are. Sub-life forms that live and associate in the dark, cowards, ashamed of themselves but determined to force their lives on others.
“They are to be pitied actually….it’s pretty sad.”
Actually, you are the one to be pitied. Then again, you are happily wallowing in your willful stupidity and the language of the bigot.
You fail to understand that you are the kind of stain that the Republicans are desperate to hide this election. The harsh, certain and judgemental prigs upon whom an annoyed electorate vented their displeasure in 2006, and indeed in Republican primaries in 2008. That’s why McCain is the nominee, because you and people like you are losing propositions for them.
“Obama doesn’t seem to care that he just blew it. Do you not see what is happening? How come you can’t tell him he screwed up. We always yell at the other side for accountability- this man is accountable for the unity of our party- and he’s blown it- big time. He’s blown the election big time.”
Political Mom. In all seriousness, I think you see something as self evidently obvious that really is not. And I doubt that Hillary Clinton sees “Obama’s mistake” like you do. I would have liked to have seen an Obama/Clinton ticket, but it would have been very, very risky for both of them, probably more of a risk than either one of them wanted to take.
Now personally, I would have preferred that Obama had not choser a Joe Biden, but it was an interesting choice, particularly when facing a McCain candidacy.
“Damn I’m glad your like[sic] is dying out Boxlock.”
BlueJay,
Not dying out, not dying out at all.
My ‘kind’ have been in the vast majority for thousands of years, if you are referring to those that think acting out homosexual behaviors is wrong. You think this is some special generation and all that history will be magically undone just because you believe it or want it. If so you are naive at best, stupid more likely. Besides there is far more to it than simply changing societal norms, it is unequivocally condemned by our maker, and that won’t change.
And BlueJay and the rest, tonight I can go to bed with a smile on my face and peace in my conscience knowing that I have been blessed. And if blessed to awaken in the morning I will still have a wonderful family, a beautiful wife, personally and physically, one of high moral character. I will have kids that have achieved much personally and career wise. I will have my beautiful grandchildren. I will have a good and rewarding job in many ways. And I will know that I live in a state that has Constitutionally recognized and protected marriage as it has traditionally been understood for those thousands of years I referred to earlier. As have approx. 44 others as well, either Constitutionally or in Statute or both.
I realize I don’t deserve all that blessing. It has been given to me pure and simple, but the decisions I have made alone the way, and the way I have lived in my life have helped put me here too.
Think about that….what do you want, truly want, you just might get, it as I have.
Night all, got’a watch the Democrat antics, chances are there’ll be several making fools of themselves.
P_mama,
You wanna see seething hatred? Watch Boxlock and the others. The FEAR is coming back to bite them in the ass. :)
Guess Boxlock has never known what love looks like — any kind of love. Sad. So full of hate and intolerance there isn’t room for love in his heart.
Box thinks he’ll pray and God will take care of it. Box is an idiot if he thinks that gays won’t have more and more rights because society’s views on it is changing.
Ag- if its not an issue- why are we still talking about it?
Three of us- hard core base liberals- refusing to unify. That is a big deal on such a small board.
And if its us- the most outspoken and loyal of us- imagine what is out there who aren’t as vocal.
All that diatribe.
And boxy never got around to how I am such a menace to society?
Ok.
political mama? I know you hurt. I do too.
And I am FAR from ready to vote for Obama.
He must earn that.
But the hurt for Hillary? Trust me when I steal a line here. “I feel your pain.” I LOVE Hillary’s fight and spirit. Keep reminding yourself this.
She is not going away. She didn’t die. She has a bright political future. Her constituents in New York are very happy with her service. She likely has a job there for as long as she wants it. Too? She COULD have taken this. It would have been bloody. But if she was the monster the right has told us for 16 years? She wouldn’t have cared about that. She saves herself, the party, and maybe the election with her sacrifice.
“Box thinks he’ll pray and God will take care of it.”
No P_mama, Box KNOWS IT! Maybe not take care of it according to my will, but…well read Romans 8-28. Oh heck, read all of Romans 8 from the beginning, it would be good for you.
I’ve read your fairy tale book front to back. You hope- you don’t know. I think its funny you think any God would find your hatefulness acceptable. Well unless you worshipped Satan. How do you rectify his love for all of his creation when he created the gays?
“Besides there is far more to it than simply changing societal norms, it is unequivocally condemned by our maker, and that won’t change.”
Where have you been the last 30 years? In a mine shaft?
And I don’t take anyone’s word there IS a “maker” let alone that they are privy to such a beings opinions.
Pre, with all due respect…
“He’s offered hope and change in a nation divided more than ever.”
Not to me and mine he hasnt. He hasnt done a goddam thing but throw us under the bus.
You are not convenient to Obama kfg.
So, what me and you and lots of people have to do is keep being the voice of discontent. WE remind Obama and his supporters that this is a nomination not a coronation. We can fight McCain and we can defend Obama when he merits it.
But we don’t have to shut up and sing.
“How do you rectify his love for all of his creation when he created the gays?”
Oh come on…not even you are that naive.
God of course loves all equally, but he won’t accept unrepentant self will…HE calls that sin.
His creation is motivated to do all kinds of things counter to HIS will, acting on it is sin and will be punished without forgiveness, which is dependent on repentance.
I realize I am opening up to all kinds of ridicule but…ya know, it rolls right off anymore. I almost enjoy it because I know you are hearing this, whether you like it our not.
LOL, you say you speak for God based on a book that says he did a 360 right in the middle of it.
” Box is an idiot if he thinks that gays won’t have more and more rights because society’s views on it is [sic] changing.”
Gays have the same rights that non-gays have.

“Gays have the same rights that non-gays have.”
Exactly KSGolfnut….EXACTLY!
They are simply too slow to figure that most obvious fact out though.
Night all, I noticed on another thread comments were made ridiculing gun owners on this blog.
I think I’ll go down to the safe and enjoy looking at mine before going to bed….ha.
KFG,
Do you believe Obama would try to stop that change you personally need?
We put too much on individuals, and I don’t mean you and yours. I believe I understand where you’re coming from, as best I can. Many of us have been in the same situation before. You and I have. Linda, Mary, P_mama have. We’re women. And I think we can swing him over to our side. He won’t stop us. He can’t.
I’d be proud to have you stand with me. You and P both. I will gladly stand with you and let my voice be heard. But it’s going to take ALL of us.
As for the rest of these nutjobs here? Screw ‘em…but, please, not literally.
But we don’t have to shut up and sing.
Hey, BlueJay, I don’t want you to. We all have to make sure our reps (including our President) are toeing the line. That’s something the Right doesn’t bother with. They don’t question, they don’t push, they just wander along behind.
There’s a caller on CSPAN RIGHT NOW from Wichita!! She’s mentioning having considered writing in Hillary as a sort of “protest”, but she’s ready to vote for Obama. Stand together, stand firm.
“Screw ‘em…but, please, not literally”
Heheheh. Not to worry Pre. I dont waste my talents so lightly. And you KNOW what I mean! I could make their eyes roll back in their heads while they are screaming “mommy”… but why would I want to? heheheh.
I’m proud to stand with you too. Always. And Linda and Pmom and Mary and JR and Rage, and Steven, and Kansas Native, and well, hell. you all know who you are. I’m bound to leave so many out, please dont take offense.
And yeah. I think obama will make equality of marriage a very low priority. Which is the same as stopping it. I dont know if you are aware of the deep divisions between the black community and the gay community. It’s deep, and it’s mean, from the top of govenment to it’s lowest levels.
And that hurts. As someone who fought for civil rights for all races, I know, they couldnt have gotten their equality, such as it is, without the help of white folks doing the right thing.
And we cant get equality, such as it will be, without straight folks of all stripes standing with us. The homophobia in the black community is deep and mean, particularly in black churches. I saw what it did to my most excellent ex. I’ve seen what it had done to other gay and black friends.
It has to be stopped. An explosive conflict between those groups is simmering just below the surface. But it will burst open some day like an infected sore. I wish they’d recognize our struggle the way we have recognized theirs.
It deeply disappoints me. And the sight of those black ministers testifying AGAINST equal civil rights for me and mine is SEARED into my memory.
I dont know what it will take to get it out of my soul. But watching obama use that division to win in south carolina by kissing the ass of mcclurkin, the poster boy for black bigotry, is something many of us will carry for a long time. A scar on our soul. It will heal, but the mark will always remain to remind us…
We cant trust these people and their churches. Oh yeah, there are heros, like Donald Betts, Oletha Faust Godeau, and lady in the KS Senate who’s name escapes me. They are our brothers and sisters who will not make US sit at the back of the bus, or throw us under the bus.
But they were punished by their own communities for helping us. This a long road to be traveled, and it’s filled with potholes and detours and slick spots. I thank them for offering a steady hand as we travel the road to equality.
But on the whole, obama is not a part of the African American community that walks it’s talk regarding equal protection under the law. Equal rights under the constitution. If he wins? It’s going to be a long four years for the gay community.
Just like it will be a long four years if mcsame wins. No matter what, my people just got a four year set back.
And yeah, in addition to the Makers Mark and Xanex, it’s going to be a looooong damn sleepless night for us.
Kinda hard to sleep with one eye open.
They phucked up. It’s up to them to come to us for reconciliation.
And I’m sorry, but the devil will meet yet another musician at The Crossroads before that happens.
But god bless Donald Betts for standing up to the little church ladies and doing the right thing. Too bad gail finney couldnt do the same, even as an officer of the County democratic party.

Farmgirl is “thinking” again…..
It is a hallmark of prejudice kfg.
The once persecuted and oppressed have an unfortunate need to find someone new to fill the need for a target for hate.
Me? I’m a straight white man. The only oppressions I know is the Republican party I used to belong to.
In reading Thomas Frank’s book, I have come to be aware of something.
The conservative movement is insatiable in its appetite. And so, ultimately it must consume…
itself.
Hold on kfg. I got your back.
PSALM 2008-2012
FIRST BOOK OF DEMOCRAT
Obama Is My Shepherd, I Shall Not Want.
He Leadeth Me Beside Still Factories,
He Restoreth My Faith In The Republican Party,
He Guideth Me In The Paths Of Unemployment.
Yea, Though I Walk Through The Valley Of The Bread Line, I Shall Not Go Hungry.
Obama Has Anointed My Income With Taxes,
My Expenses Runneth Over My Income,
Surely, Poverty And Hard Living Will Follow Me All The Days Of My Life.
The Democrats And I Will Live Forever In a Rented Room.
But I Am Glad I Am an American,
I Am Glad That I Am Free.
But I Wish I Was A Dog
And Obama A Tree.
“Hold on kfg. I got your back.”
OH NO!!! That would make me extremely nervous and insecure. Butt, what ever your persuasion according to kfg, and others.
Box?
You are melting down guy.
Yeah JR on your back, how comfortable would that be?
JR has been on the back of taxpayers for years.
And you know, if Hillary had really done her part, Monica would not have had to do her part.
I won’t let them phuck you KFG. Sister, I’ve been fighting long and hard. I’m on the state board of the sisterhood, remember?
And remember what it stands for- equality for all. No more- no less. I want the right to marry any person of legal age that I choose- whether it be a man or a woman. I hurt for you that you are not allowed to marry the person you love- legally.
But it goes beyond that- to as long as you sit down and shut up- they’ll treat you like you have a ‘roommate’.
I know, we have that here. Our gay community is great in number- and they all are very quiet about it. How sad.
I can’t say I feel your pain- but I certainly empathize with it.
By the way? check out the site 1100 torches.
We have much work to do.
Perhaps that is where we can begin- changing the hearts and minds of the black community leaders to recognize the gay community as a struggle that needs the same equality.
Box, why don’t you find yourself in a pine box tonight for the sake of humanity. Don’t you have a rapture to get ready for?
Leave us worldly beings to our own. You are not of this world, remember?

Somebody should, since you never bother.
You’re as predictable as lightswitch and almost as smart.
“But on the whole, obama is not a part of the African American community that walks it’s talk regarding equal protection under the law. Equal rights under the constitution. If he wins? It’s going to be a long four years for the gay community.
“Just like it will be a long four years if mcsame wins. No matter what, my people just got a four year set back.”
I respectfully disagree with the equivalence you draw here. I understand your irritation and indeed disgust over the McClurkin incident, and I also understand how that could be a deal breaker for you with Obama. However, I also think it is a mistake to use that to draw a predictive equivalence between the results of a McCain versus an Obama election, because there is a difference between the candidates, if in nothing else then in who they would appoint to the federal judiciary. Civil rights reform is often started in the courts before the elected governments and the populace who voted for them evolve to widespread acceptance. The tide of history on this issue, given the demographics in this country, is inevitable, but justices selected by a McCain presidency would be likely to slow that tide down.
Finally, I have seen no evidence, NONE, that Barack Obama will be intentionally hostile to GLBT issues. The worst (and I am not saying that this would be OK in any way shape or form) one could expect would be neglect. From McCain, far worse (active hostility) can be expected.

Pmom, I honor you and your service. I’m glad to be on your side too!
“Perhaps that is where we can begin- changing the hearts and minds of the black community leaders to recognize the gay community as a struggle that needs the same equality.”
Good luck with that.
I’ll still support good candidates like Donald Betts, Oletha, etc. We need them to lead the bigots in their community out of the wilderness.
Heheeheh. Does anyone but me think it’s funny that boxy wants us to think he’s such a pious bass turd and then HE mocks the bible?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
I tell yew whut. You just cant make this stuff up!
Leaders of six national gay and transgender advocacy organizations, including the National Stonewall Democrats, nevertheless hailed the 2008 document as the strongest platform on gay and transgender issues ever approved by a major U.S. political party.
U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisc.), the only openly lesbian member of Congress and a member of the 15-member platform drafting committee, called the platform’s provisions on gay and transgender issues “historic.” Baldwin said the document would set the tone for expanding the rights of “all GLBT people” in the next several years.
She also noted the gay and transgender rights provisions were “fully supported” by Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, who is the party’s presumptive presidential nominee.

Yeah, and I saw melissa etheridge performing too.
Vichy queers. We’ll see what progress is made.
or not
I hope you are right, KN. I’d love to be wrong on this one.
And please, what are the stonewall DEMOCRATS supposed to say?
They have to roll over and kiss the feet of their masters, or they wont even get CRUMBS, much less bread. The one thing both the mclurkin and finney incidents have proven is that it’s ok to phuck gay people at will. It brings no consequences.
A lot of gay folks, from Washington to Wichita, seem to be democrats FIRST, and gay people second.
I hope so too. With the exception of Hillary mentioning gay rights in her speech, that and choice have been played pretty quietly at the convention.
Most people know where Democrats stand on those issues so why stir up the Boxlickers in the electorate by mentioning them?
Heheheheheh. And what is Tammy Baldwin SUPPOSED to say? What do you think her position in congress would be if she didnt toe the party line? She’d be cleaning the restrooms in the house gym.
And, it’s interesting to note from your link:
“But the platform draft approved Aug. 9 by the party’s 186-member Platform Committee apparently omits any mention of the words “gay” or “lesbian,” which had been included in the Democrats’ 2004 platform.
The document, discussed by Democratic officials and gay activists during a conference call Monday with reporters, was not publicly available. The Democratic National Committee has yet to release a final draft of the platform approved in Pittsburgh.
The document also apparently omits a provision in the 2004 platform that declared the party’s opposition to a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, which the older document called a divisive effort by President Bush to “politicize the constitution.”
So it’s a weaker document than the one in 2004?
Color me shocked…
“Boxlock, that sounds like a death threat! Don’t let Pmom prevent you from posting here!”
Thanks Max, not a chance of P_moma or anyone else doing that. Lost interest is the only thing that would stop or slow my posting, and that is a real possibility as their input is so shallow most times.
Remember, I enjoy their insults, it confirms they are reading my posts….like what I’m saying or not they ARE reading my posts.
“Most people know where Democrats stand on those issues so why stir up the Boxlickers in the electorate by mentioning them?”
And why continue to pander to the boxlickers of the world?
“ksfarmgrrl” on Melissa Etheridge –
“Vichy queer”
Okay, that’s funny.
A bit harsh, but funny.
There’s no fighting like infighting with your friends.
That’s probably the reason I get along pretty good with most Lesbians I’ve known. I refuse to take any s#it from them; I run away like a sissy from the fight.
hee hee heeee MH. Glad I could start your day with a laugh!
You are ever so safe running away. Us older dykes would quickly get out of breath trying to chase ya down.
But hey, we were HELL on the softball field when we were young…
