As he visited Johnson County last week, National Republican Congressional Committee chairman Tom Cole, R-Okla., said that state Sen. Nick Jordan, R-Shawnee, is the best candidate the GOP has fielded against Rep. Dennis Moore, D-Lenexa, who has served the heavily Republican 3rd Congressional District since 1998. Cole’s estimation sets Jordan apart from the likes of fallen Moore challengers Phill Kline (2000), Adam Taff (2002), Kris Kobach (2004) and Chuck Ahner (2006). Jordan’s top issues are energy, taxes and health care, and his campaign is working hard to mention Moore as often as possible in the same breath as Nancy Pelosi and Jimmy Carter.

Rhonda: Have you forgotten that Dennis Moore was raised here in Wichita. His father was a long time attorney here. I believe he might have been Sedgwick County prosecuting attorney and local elected Democratic party official.
After law school, Dennis Moore practiced in Johnson County and served as Johnson County’s prosecuting attorney. He always reminded me of Li’l Abner for some reason, a good person.
In Johnson County, Dennis is kind of “Jack the giant killer” in politics.
True, state senator, Nick Jordan, is well known with his background in Overland Park Chamber of Commerce and in his church (or at least former church, I might not be up to date), the Full Faith Gospel Church, largest church in Johnson County.
This could be the political race to watch for U.S. Congressman in that northeast Kansas congressional district.
Oh well, I’m sure Moore will gladly take the $1,200,000 that Boyda turned down. He may need it too. Without Sebelius and Phill Kline to drive the voter turn out and with such a sucky Democrat presidential ticket, Moore may have a hard time hanging on to his seat.
Dare I say, could it be possible that both Boyda and Moore could lose in what was once predicted to be a democrat landslide year?
“TheBorgHunter forges –
The 3rd District isn’t the Republic Party stronghold Jan Meyers represented. Half the voters are in Wyandotte County and there’s no county on the planet that’s more Democratic than the ‘Dotte.
North of Olathe, JoCo voters are mostly once-born moderates who’ve reject the Nazarene Mafia’s bigotry.
At street level, Moore operates one of the most effective constituent-service congressional offices in America. I know 4th District constituents who, after being ignored by Tiahrt’s office, have called Moore’s office and had Social Security SNAFUs cleared up in hours after being piddled with for months by Tiahrt’s ideologues.
Nick Jordan will make a fine congressman for Kansas. His ability to work with everyone will be a big asset.
He had the foresight to see the benefits Kansas has in research and created the Kansas Bio-Science Authority. Still in its growing stages Kansas has already seen the benefit of new companies coming to Kansas to do research. It has also assisted many existing companies in their quest to increase research right here.
Because of this Kansas has the potential to become one of if not the biggest player in all kinds of research in the country.
What has Moore done for Kansas?
Johnson County has barely a drop of oil.
When Carlin came up with his stupid “severence tax” on minerals, oil and gas, Johnson County was all for it.
“Don’t tax you, don’t tax me, tax that guy behind the tree” —
Also, as Obama’s Marxist mentor, Sal Alinsky, teaches: “The establishment abhors controversy” —
The blue bloods of Johnson County can get Moore to do what they want, on a few bills of regional interest to them. At the same time, those same blue bloods don’t have to be “emarrased” by issues like abortion or guns or gay marriage.
Moore might compromise a bit, on those things, but he will not be an “agitator” or get his picture in the paper for leading any “radical” movement.
I would also add that Moore made it to power because the Republican Party screwed up, back when David Miller ran, in the Primary, against Bill Graves.
Many Republicans would prefer a Congressman they can control, sometimes, over Party activists they can not control at all.
Moore can be beaten, but Republicans need to study the situation and be a bit more humble, if they really want to win.
Monkey
I do not believe you.
I have used Tiahrts office, frequently, to fix both Social Security and Medicare problems.
Tiahrt’s staff does a great job.
Of course MH and some others of his ilk like to tout how great the constituent services of Boyda and Moore are while claiming that Tiahart and republicans don’t care about anyone except the monied people.
Of course none of its true, but since they are democrats, they have nothing else to hang their hats on. I’m really looking forward to having an all republican congressional delegation again.
Saul Alinsky was not a Marxist. He was a community organizer seeking to improve democracy from the bottom up. Falsely turning him into a supposed “Marxist mentor” is both dishonest and ridiculous.
Anything goes to smear Senator Obama, I guess.
He thought Marxism was an idea whose time had past.
Quoting Alinsky:
“… Spouting quotes from Mao, Castro, and Che Guevara, which are as germane to our highly technological, computerized, cybernetic, nuclear-powered, mass media society as a stagecoach on a jet runway at Kennedy airport. (Alinsky 1972)
DavidB – didn’t you get the memo? ANYONE connected with Obama is either a Marzist, Islamic terrorist, crazy frings Christian – or all of the above.
/sarcasm off
You forgot sixties radical/anarchist/mad bomber turned “community organizer”.
Definition of a communist-a socialist in a hurry.
Definition of a marxist-a communist with a gun.
author unknown.
Yes DavidB, by the above definitions, Saul Alinsky was not a marxist. But he most assuredly was a communist.
It’s sad it took the GOP in Kansas this long to realize Dennis Moore is nothing more than a rubber stamp for Pelosi’s ultra-liberal whims, and he will be nothing more than a rubber stamp for Messiah Empty Suit should he win and ruin this country. The GOP simply needs to run a candidate who can send Dennis Moore back to the private sector, and Nick Jordan is that candidate.
Why did Jim Ryun get beat by Lynn Jenkins in the 2nd District? Same thing. Sure, Jenkins may not share some conservative values, but she is a heck of a lot better than Boyda, who is in lock step with Pelosi.
If the Dummycrats thought Tiahrt was so vulnerable, why did they run that joker of a candidate? Donald Betts? Who the heck is he?
Terrific!!
