Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., never got close to the GOP presidential nomination, but he snared a speaking slot on final night of the Republican National Convention, Sept. 4. The theme of that night, when John McCain will give his acceptance speech, is “peace.” The speakers’ list has created buzz for confirming some Democrats’ fears that their 2000 vice presidential nominee, Joe Lieberman, will speak at the GOP convention (on Sept. 1, when the theme is “service”).

After watching the CNN story on McSame last night- I can’t believe that anyone would vote for him. He’s a pathetic person. A real jerk and he seriously needs to not even be in the Senate.
After reading Corsi’s book, I can’t believe that Obama is even running.
Corsi is far more reputable than CNN, by the way.
Boring speech alert!
Prepare for gratuitous use of the words “God”, “life” and “responsibility”. Bring a pillow and a book or stock up on no doze!
Seriously, a con convention is like a massive gathering of Ward Cleavers. I hope the GOPstapo is unable to keep the Ron Paul kooks from spicing things up a bit. Otherwise the con convention is a total snore.
Most conventions for the past couple decades have been incredibly boring. Years ago there were actual floor fights/delegate votes, etc. Now it is a pro forma annointing of the party’s already designated candidate for both parties.
There are much hyped discussions about ‘planks’ and ‘platforms’, which are largely forgotten after the convention, but that is about it.
I was at the Democratic National Convention in San Francisco in 1984…and other than the parties, it was pretty boring.
Fears about Joe Lieberman speaking at the con snooze lecture show?
They are the only people that want anything to do with him. heh He’s got Joementum. They can have him.
“Corsi is far more reputable than CNN, by the way.”
Is that the joke , or the punchline? Or maybe both??
Joe Lieberman, will speak at the GOP convention (on Sept. 1, when the theme is “service”).
Service to whom or what?
Oh, the irony!
Very smart move by McCain. Try to bring in both the Right and some from the middle. Especially if he chooses a pro-choice running mate.
Fear, I think it’s funny lieberman’s talking at a republican convention. I think he was a drag on the Gore ticket. Maybe he’ll be the right’s no. 2 man this time.
Maybe lieberman will share the stage with mccain and correct his gaffes for him.
I’d rather listen to a test pattern than Brownback; unless , of course, if I was trying to go to sleep. In that case, Sam’s the man!
So much for my hopes that with Sebelius speaking kansas would get a favorable review, it’ll be more than offset with bibleboy brownback speaking. Oh, well, more material for late night comedians.
I bet it gets pointed out that the other senator from ks. isn’t at the convention, he had to worry about getting re-elected, so brownback has to be the standard bearer.
“Maybe lieberman will share the stage with mccain and correct his gaffes for him.”
Good one!
