Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, was charged with seven counts of making false statements on his financial disclosure forms. For years, Stevens was the king of earmarks as head of the Senate Appropriations Committee. The indictment accuses Stevens of concealing payments of more than $250,000 in goods and services from an oil company that wanted Stevens’ help.

Watch the party of “personal responsibility” run like fiends from this poster-child of republicanism.
After they stop running, they’ll fall back on the “you do it too” defense–as if two wrongs could make a right even if true, and it’s not.
I thought Robert Byrd was the King of Pork; hasn’t he got seniority in that area of expertise?
Both are losers !
What’s their ethics rule? It seems to change with who is indicted or charged or found guilty of what. Do they actually have ethics rules or standards of conduct expected by lawmakers? Will he maintain his seat unless the voters boot him?
Bunch of Republican Senators with some problems. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch of dingbats — the ones who brought us the Contract with America and promised all sorts of great and lofty improvements…

I think King of Pork and King of Corruption are different.
Oops I just googled and found that Stevens wears both hats.
Remember the famous “Bridge to Nowhere?”
They both smell the same to me.
Burn the witch!!!!!

Democrat Senator, and former Presidential candidate Edwards, whose wife is dying of cancer, is caught in a hotel with another woman, and the Eagle does not dedicate a Blog thread to that topic.
The Democrat Mayor of Detroit is caught in a huge scandal, with criminal charges against him, the Mayor’s mother is a Democrat member of Congress, but we get no story about that issue.
Chicago has some of the highest rates of teen violence and gang activity in the country. “Neighborhood organizers” (Obama’s old job) are pushing for a boycott of the first day of school, over school funding disputes. Obama’s friend Rezco goes to prison —
And we get no WEBlog thread on any of that.
Linda
The “Contract with America” was PURELY a HOUSE Republican project.
The Senate had virtually nothing to do with it.
More Democrat Scandals:

The party of William ‘cold cash’ Jefferson thinks they have a clear conscience on corruption.
Don’t hurt your arms patting yourselves on the back because both parties can boast of these jerks who will sell their integrity if the dollar amount is right.
THIS IS WHY WE NEED A MAJOR HOUSE CLEANING! BOTH SIDES, ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN IN OFFICE FOR OVER 2 YEARS. OUT!
Repeat as necessary.

paulie and germie, before you get too far down the “both parties do it too” road, you need to ponder this.
read ‘em and weep. seven repukes. two democrats
And I still want to know what they are blackmailing pelosi with…
Members of Congress who have been charged with crimes since 2000:

If this illegal activity keeps up, maybe we need think about a Congressional Prison , and have that sheriff from down in the SW that puts his prisoners in pick jump suits, run it.
I definitely would plan on expanding the facility- it’s probably going to need it.

Democrat Senator, and former Presidential candidate Edwards, whose wife is dying of cancer, is caught in a hotel with another woman, and the Eagle does not dedicate a Blog thread to that topic<<<
Let’s see this thread is about Stevens and Franklin brings up Edwards. Hahahahahahaha.
I don’t consider cons and crooks to be either republicans or democrats. They’re crooks, and belong with bubba in cell 13. Too many want to play the party game, and that is just plain stupid.
Can’t happen to a more deserving guy.
Stevens is one of the worst of the worst of the cons. Drawing and quartering him will be delicious fun!
How do Stevens actions fit into the conservative philosophy of balanced budgets, smaller government and lower taxes? And isn’t this the same guy when the funding for his bridge to nowhere was getting cut turned into a blubbering crybaby?
Sheesh, I once voted for that guy.
And as for Edwards affair, considering its the same source that routinely states the Bush is having a affair with Condi and he and Laura are on the outs I take it with a grain of Salt
“WASHINGTON — Incoming Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid vows to make reform of congressional earmarks a priority of his tenure, arguing that members need to be more transparent when they load pet projects for their districts into federal spending bills.
But last year’s huge $286-billion federal transportation bill included a little-noticed slice of pork pushed by Reid that provided benefits not only for the casino town of Laughlin, Nev., but also, possibly, for the senator himself.
Reid called funding for construction of a bridge over the Colorado River, among other projects, “incredibly good news for Nevada” in a news release after passage of the 2005 transportation bill. He didn’t mention, though, that just across the river in Arizona, he owns 160 acres of land several miles from proposed bridge sites and that the bridge could add value to his real estate investment.
Reid denies any personal financial interest in his efforts to secure $18 million for a new span connecting Laughlin with Bullhead City, Ariz.”

Farmie before you pat yourself on the back with your list you really should look below the headlines. The news that doesn’t get coverage. Surprised that the LA Times covered this. I was in Bull Head, AZ when they was happening and they all know what Reid is. No national coverage. Why not??
Could be a left leaning MSM.
“I was in Bull Head, AZ when they was happening and they all know what Reid is.”
One, Senator Reid is from Utah, not Arizona.
Two, I can just see it now – the natives of Bull Head rushing over to YOU so that they can tell you what a rotten man the Senator from Utah is.
Yeah, that happened.
Anymore good stories?

Stay on point here people, we are taking about a Republican scumbag who has been indicted. When Reid is indicted for a crime then we can talk about that. Why don’t you just admit that Steven could be corrupt the way I did when Jefferson was indicted?
I just wonder, how many times have the resident drill-everywhere folks cited the positions of Alaska pols like Stevens and Don Young as justification for drilling in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge? Alaska voters follow what the political culture tells them to do (but did anyone notice that the Green Party candidate, Ralph Nader, got 10% of the vote in 2000?).
It’s nice to see that the senator from VECO finally facing some legal judgments.
That’s because we are decent and want what’s best for our country. The cons don’t care, as long as they’re in power.
Oh jesus WEPT!
Germie, when reid is indicted for a crime, call me. This meme about criminals in congress is YOURS, by a seven to one margin.
All reid is guilty if is being spineless and a liar. And if that were a crime, we’d have to build new federal prisons to hold all the guilty congress critters.
And I STILL want to know what they are blackmailing pelosi with. Porter “I love prostitutes bought by dusty fogo” Goss heading up a congressional ETHICS group?
Sonuvabiotch.
You just cant make this crap up….

WS you idiot. Why aren’t you in Florida? He represents the state of Nevada not Utah. My aunt lives in a little town called Topac, AZ. It has a oneroom post office a church and a Mexican restaurant.
It is about 20 miunutes from Laughlin, NV and Bull, AZ. The Colorado River separates them but they are pretty much the same place. Laughlin is about an hour south of Searchlight, NV, the hometown of Harry Reid.
The bridge in question is to the east of Laughlin and served no purpose but linking Nevada to the land Reid owned in AZ.
Do the research for yourself. The story is there if you look hard enough. There is now a beautiful casino in the middle of nowhere adjacent to Reids acres. White sand was brought in to make it a desert oasis. A nearby senior community with its own golf course sets.
Picturesque and it plus the bridge makes Harrys acres worth much more.
like I said germie, when reid is indicted, give us a call. Otherwise?
Seven.to.two.
your guys
and… the last I heard, “cold cash” was elected by… wait for it… the majority of the voters in his district.
WHY couldnt the repukes in his district beat him?
I figure he spread around that cold cash and they couldnt afford to give up their payments from the “sidows and orphans” fund.
oops, widows and orphans fund
Um, and WHERE is jindal from?
The land of corruption and incompetence according to you repukes…
Kcdude and framie my point exactly. Where is the investigation into this misuse of tax dollars. Why isn’t he being indicted for receiving quid pro quo.
Farmie when something stupid like Craig is accused of starts costing me money then I will get excited about it. He is a scumbag and his state needs to unelect him. I don’t consider this a crime.
Kinda like patsy roberts is from the land of terry, joe and fred.
Farmie since the days of Huey Long the big easy has been known for its corruption. We certainly weren’t disappointed when we saw what Blanco and the NO mayor did in time of crisis.
Heheheheeh. Well, the COURTS beg to differ with you germie. You dont decide if it’s a crime. They do. These are, real slow for ya, indictments.
But then hell, scooter was CONVICTED by the courts and you dont recognize that, so why would I expect you to recognize a simple indictment?
“Why isn’t he being indicted for receiving quid pro quo.”
Uh, I dunno. Maybe the goddam JUSTICE DEPARTMENT under bushco is too busy routing out “rumored” lesbians?
Your DOJ at work… ask them. Or AG AG. But.. I bet alberto wont remember. He has that republican memory disease, especially when he gets a STRONGLY worded letter from congress….
Farmie why do I ever think that you can carry on a normal conversation?
And I guess bill and monica cost you money? Only because kenny starr couldnt get enough of that porn he called an “investigation”. Fifty four million if I remember correctly. And it was STARR who cost you that, not bill or monica.
I gotta go. This is too easy. Like shooting fish in a very small gop pond.
The left in action: declare victory and run backwards. Cowardly and not correct.
“Farmie why do I ever think that you can carry on a normal conversation?”
Funny, that’s what you always say when the facts kick your old butt.
Wanna dispute the facts? Or just whine about me not having a “normal” conversation?
I guess that’s already been asked and answered…
Where did I run backwards? I think it is YOU in full retreat when the facts dont suit you.
Has reid been indicted for anything? Where is the bushco DOJ? YOU are the one who brought up “costs you money”.
Call ken starr. He spent your money like a drunk republican sailor…
It was the entire lousiana and ol miss gulf coast that was leveled.
Where was jindal?
Oh yeah, he was asking bushco for help.
Remind me, how did that work out?
…and please post where I defended blanco and nagin here.
You ALWAYS fall back on that “they did it too” and “well.. how about THIS guy” when your repukes get busted.
And convicted.
Hell, that didnt fly in the third grade, much less with adults…
silence?
germie must be “running backwards”…
BIG eye roll.
Actually Bills little lies did cost the country money. He was caught in the same trap Stevenson was. Lieing under oath. If he had been honest about Paula JOnes the rest probably have never emerged.
Mores the pity. I don’t live with rose colored glasses and realize that scumbags come in every party.
Farmie I have never accused you of defending them. I am saying that your list of offenders was incomplete.
For whatever reason many politicians aren’t indicted and should be. In every party.
We the people, the voters have the power to clean up the government. When we argue amongst ourselves then the politicans win.
“Why aren’t you in Florida?”
Why don’t you phuck yourself, HOG?
Is polite conversation something you never learned? I meant nothing by my question, just an inquiry. And you did tell me I was wrong about your man Reid implying I couldn’t have just happened to be in Bull Head. I spend more time in Laughlin that Los Vegas. Like the smaller casionos there.
Sorry if I pushed your buttons.
Sen. Ted Stevens’ statement on his indictment
By The Associated Press
2 hours, 3 minutes ago
Statement from Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, on his indictment:
“I have proudly served this nation and Alaska for over 50 years. My public service began when I served in World War II. It saddens me to learn that these charges have been brought against me. I have never knowingly submitted a false disclosure form required by law as a U.S. senator.
“In accordance with Senate Republican Conference rules, I have temporarily relinquished my vice chairmanship and ranking positions until I am absolved of these charges.
“The impact of these charges on my family disturbs me greatly.
“I am innocent of these charges and intend to prove that.”
The longest serving venerable Republican king pin is going down. The Culture of Corruption draws to an end.
“Is polite conversation something you never learned?”
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I never have “polite” conversations with people like you that insult me, my family and my political point of view.
If you want “polite” conversation – tell the truth, don’t lie and don’t insult me.
WS you really are as sad as JR. That is probably you two go at each other frequently. I don’t demean you or your family and contrary to your constant put downs – I don’t lie. I made a mistake and corrected it several times. Unfortunately you didn’t see fit to accept that. Your loss not mine.
When did I insult you? I said you were an idiot because you moved Reid to Utah. Did you correct that?
As I said polite conversation is beyond you it seems and please stop bringing your granddaughter into your arguments on this blog. She doesn’t deserve that kind of treatment from you or anyone else.
“I made a mistake and corrected it several times.”
A mistake? You flat out LIED TWICE regarding your son and his Navy service.
“please stop bringing your granddaughter into your arguments on this blog”
Nonsense – my grandchildren are a big part of my life and I will reference them when and if I feel it appropriate.
“Farmie why do I ever think that you can carry on a normal conversation?”
Actually, she’s hitting you on point. You got your head handed to you, pure and simple.
That being said, I do have to chuckle at the argument as to who is Senator Pork, Stevens or Byrd. Reminds me of a Daily Show bit where they had a “coot off” between Stevens and Byrd.
A mistake? You flat out LIED TWICE regarding your son and his Navy service.
—————————
As usual you wouldn’t know the truth if you stumbled across it when running from a challenge. Show me in print the two times you said I LIED. That is a very strong statement and I frankly am sick of it. Put up or shut up.
As far as your granddaughter goes I suppose it is too much to expect you to respect her on this blog when she has you for a grandfather.
Agnatha I have a feeling you are someone I used to know on this blog that changed a name and unlike me didn’t fess up to it.
I was talking to farmie and if that isn’t you why would you insinuate yourself in our conversation. She really does quiet well on her own.
“Put up or shut up.”
First you stated that your son was stationed in the Gulf when the USS Cole was attacked (in October 2000) and he knew that bin Laden al Qaeda was behind the incident.
Later, you claimed that your son left the Navy in 1992 because of pay cuts implemented by Bill Clinton.
When it was pointed out that Bill Clinton was Governor of Arkansas in 1992, you changed your story to your son leaving the Navy in 1994 because of Bill Clinton.
Later yet, you admitted that you had LIED.
Now, if you can LIE to make your point, I can mention my granddaughter.
Why are you insinuating ME into your conversation there germie?
I’m not a bit sad. I am a little creeped out.
You are all over the place obsessing on me. I don’t need or want any con groupies.
“I don’t need or want any con groupies.”
Damn it, J R, I just got a visual of a Germie groupie hanging out waiting for you at your dressing room door.
I just tossed up my dinner.
You and I may not get along, but I wouldn’t wish a Germie groupie on you, or anyone else for that matter.
To quote our mutual friend, Ms. Grrl………..
EEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!
Clark you are a pathetic liar with no life. You are indeed to be pitied.
I don’t believe that that was how either of those statements came about but since we are depending on your memory I guess the proof isn’t there. I asked for proof because daily I see your exaggerations.
I would say grow up but if you haven’t by now you never will. You will stumble into old age as pathetic as you are now.
“I don’t believe that that was how either of those statements came about but since we are depending on your memory I guess the proof isn’t there.”
Jesus H. Christ, are you in the early stages of Alzheimer’s? You ADMITTED to those lies.
Damn, talk about selective memory.
“Clark you are a pathetic liar with no life.”
NOW, I am the liar? You admitted your lies.
Christ.
I got this mental picture of her asking me to sign her support hose.
(Shudder)
And since we are throwing the “pathetic liar” bit around?
“Agnatha I have a feeling you are someone I used to know on this blog that changed a name and unlike me didn’t fess up to it.”
Uh huh.
She only “fessed up” on the nic switch after getting caught.
I never admitted that I lied Clark. You are a liar. I admitted that what you kept saying I said wasn’t what happened. I admitted to making a mistake about the date my son left the military. A typo. I put my sons entire military career with dates on for everyone to see. Much more than you deserved.
You throw around the liar brand so quickly. I never made you show me what you say I posted. I am now demanding that you do. Or shut up once and for all. I really don’t care one way or the other. Your are pathetic old man past your prime and don’t show any evidence you will ever be anything else.
No one ‘caught’ me BJ – you have hung out with WS on these late night blogs to long. Pathetic. Get a life. Speaking of which – I do have one. You guys just carry on without me like you do all night every night.
Heh HEH!
Oh no she’s melting MELTING!
How dare we destroy her beautiful ugliness!
Oh what a world what a world!
Heh
Anybody want a broomstick?
“A typo”
A TYPO – come on – you said he was stationed in the Gulf in October 2000.
How does that translate to 1992 or 1994?
And YOU stated that you had lied, when you were KSGrm, then you disappeared, only to return as Okie-Dope.
Christ.
By the way, Germie, I am STIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLL waiting for you to copy and paste where I posted that I was a “green eyed black man.”
Still waiting.
we did have a green eyed black man. But he posted under another name.
No Grm, I usually stay out of this crap between you and WS, but you DID and you argued about it afterwards. You said you remembered something happened because it was when your son was serving in the military at x and x spot at the same time.
WS proved that it couldn’t have happened on the date you said.
Which is fine…we all have recall that isn’t perfect…I don’t think you lied on purpose. But now you are lying on purpose.
You have a big big problem admitting when you are wrong even when up against a wall- such as the day it took me almost all freaking day to convince you that RU486 and the Morning after Pills were NOT the same thing.
And I do wish WS would just shut up about it already.
Mrage was the green eyed black man.
“Agnatha I have a feeling you are someone I used to know on this blog that changed a name and unlike me didn’t fess up to it.”
Germie, google “Agnatha.” That should give you the clue you need.
Not really the choice of someone who’s trying to conceal who he was.
Thanks, P-mom for that correction.
The germ is really showing her ass tonight, is she not? I used to try to defend her, but she has shone tonight, and others, what futile action that is. Please, germ, keep posting, it is the best way, we in the internets, have of illuminating your true character [sic]. LOL…
“And I do wish WS would just shut up about it already.”
I only bring it up up when HOG tries to call me a liar, P Mom. Not until.
“Agnatha I have a feeling you are someone I used to know on this blog that changed a name and unlike me didn’t fess up to it.”
Uh huh. Right. I indicated that I was an old poster who switched my nic the first day I posted under this nic. Even made an informal contest of it. Linda was the first to guess correctly who I was.
“I was talking to farmie and if that isn’t you why would you insinuate yourself in our conversation. She really does quiet well on her own.”
This is an open blog. I will comment on what I want to comment on. And your attempt to attack ksfarmgrrl (who can, I would be the first to agree, be as snarky as anyone here) on her manner of posting when she directly addressed the inconsistencies of the argument you were trying to make, is and remains extremely weak.
Terrific, good job. Keep it up!!!!
