Statehouse price tag keeps rising

capitolThe state Capitol is a treasure that must be maintained. But its long-running renovation is trying Kansans’ patience. Members of a legislative committee learned last week that the project, budgeted at $120 million eight years ago, may end up costing closer to $300 million by the 2011 completion date, because construction costs are projected to be up 15 percent this year. “It’s a cause for concern, but we just have to plan for it,” said Statehouse architect Barry Greis.

If they would hire illegal Mexicans to do the work (instead of whining Republicans) it would cost a pittance!

We maneuver concern eye around and beyond it. It is only after the 2011 completion date of looking at eight years that one realizes how a legislative committee of Republicans are in an impossible spatial relationship to each other. A treasure is represented by Republicans who persist in eight years from concern.

True definition of Kansas State Government.

A bunch of fat cats (Republican and Democrat) cutting up a jackpot.

Is there a translation for the 7:57 post? Maybe if it were translated to pig latin it would be easier to understand?

Maybe they can borrow from the Wichita city council. They are known to make great deals for the poor businessmen of this city.

It looks like we agree on something.
Frame’s post looks like a spam scam email from Nigeria, or maybe a spam internet drug marketing email.
There are computer programs out there that pick every other word out of some book, or every third word, and start and finish each email with different words that make no sense.
I think that gets them around the “spam filters” – but what possible gain does anyone have from a “blog bot” ???

    I don’t get it either.

To the State House, I used to be embarrased by the way the ceilings looked, in both Houses of the legislature.
When every they did any work, they just painted over or chopped a whole into the old artwork.
It looked like artwork in a flee market.

However, why is the cost going up so much?

I realize that the basement work, and storage space additions, are expensive.

A full accounting would be appreciated.

They should have moved everyone out of the state house. They have wasted money taking things out only to put them back temporary for the legislative session.

If it was an empty building all of the work would be done by now.

What a bunch of fools with our money.
