RECENT COOLING AND THE SERIOUS DATA INTEGRITY ISSUE

If they can’t get the past right, how can they get the future right?

All the data sources have updated now for June. NOAA GHCN data was a clear outlier. NOAA called this the eighth warmest June on record for the globe in the 129 years since records began in 1880 with a positive anomaly of 0.5C (0.9F) for the month. The University of Alabama, Huntsville MSU satellite based global assessment reported the this June was the the 9th coldest in the 30 years of satellite record keeping (base period 1979-1998) with a value of -0.11C (-0.19F). The other NASA satellite source, RSS had June as the 13th coldest out of the last 30 years. Hadley came in today with their CRUV3 data update. They also were in disagreement with the satellite data sets with +0.316C, the 10th warmest June.

However both the Hadley and MSU do show a downtrend since 2002 of 0.15 to 0.2C with a rather strong negative correlation (r = – 0.44 with Hadley) with CO2 which increased 3.5% over the period.

Yesterday evening, about 7 PM, I took a walk through the Delano area of west Wichita, around the traffic circle in front of Hatman Jack’s retail store, around Lawrence-Dumont Stadium (no baseball game) and Ice Sports across Maple.

I thought perhaps I hadn’t got the word that we should flee Wichita. There was absolutely no automobile traffic, no speeders with cell phones, no racing pickups with loud mufflers, no sirens from emergency vehicles.

It was quieter than 7 AM on a Sunday morning which is occasionally broken by the Sunday EAGLE delivery people or preachers hurrying to unlock their churches.

NO TRAFFIC ON A NORMAL MONDAY EVENING. Was their a good show on TV? Was a big sale going on somewhere else in town?

Was it global warming effecting life in Wichita … after all it was close to 100 degrees yesterday afternoon.

OR IS THE HIGH PRICE OF GASOLINE ACTUALLY TAKING HOLD?

Everything you believe in very passionately is a LIE. Religion, politics- every popularized group thought. If you didn’t invent it, it’s been created to control you. To divide you. The masonic motto is “divide and conquer.” The word “illuminati” means illumined: bright. Smart. One that can see in the dark, like an owl; one that has knowledge that the profane (you) don’t have. (See the back of the dollar bill.) The people in charge of the world are evil, inbred, psychopathic, control freaks that instigate fake wars throughout centuries to profit, exterminate and keep the masses in a dumbed-down, confused state. In virtually every major “news” event, there exists a completely hidden agenda behind what was told to you. From JFK to the moon landings to 9/11 to Charles Manson to the Virginia Tech shootings to the Columbine massacre to the “education system” to the air you breathe to the food you eat, to the vaccinations you receive to the “founding fathers” to the “constitution” to global warming. That’s the big one. The government is using “global warming” to gradually remove your freedoms and eventually form a one world government. Originally they were going to use a fake alien threat which Reagan talked about and that the C.I.A. promotes through science fiction, military manufactured flying saucers and government conducted “alien” abductions. That’s what “The War of the Worlds” was about. To test the publics reaction. They’ve opted instead for environmental guilt and worship of “mother earth.” And it’s working.

Global warming is a lie from the pits of hell.

satan want man to beleive that mankind has caused all these blatant signs of the times.

This way, humans will not be alert to the signs that Jesus warned us about and thus will not be about the business of being ready.

Instead of these many catastrophes alerting us to His soon return, mankind will just start thinking “green” and focusing on saving the planet.

This planet will be mellt with fervent heat and God Himself will refurbish it.

Global warming is solely to take the focus off the fact that Jesus will soon return!

If the theory of global warming had not been advanced, mankind would be in awe trying to figure out what is happening. Then, the Bible could explain the truth.

It is just like evolution, anything to distract humans from God and His signs to us.

So what a piece of ice fell into the water. You don’t think this ever happened before the Devil created the fairy tail religion of global warming? Don’t you people that think this garbage (that’s right I called it garbage) is real have Faith in our King, the Lord of Lords who controls Nature?
Do you not understand that this is all predestined and there is an appointed time for all things?

Just wait until these knuckle heads see what God can really do with the sun. For in the Trib 1/3 of the earth will be scorched by the sun and you know what, the sun will be cut in half during this period. Wow half the energy of the sun that we feel today burning the planet up. Man made my rear end!

Oh ye of little faith, I think everyone needs to go read Mathew Chapter 8 and ponder what Christ is telling us. For he is in total control, you are free from fear mongering people that control the media. Stop putting your faith in man for he is controlled by the Prince of the Air and will fail you repeatedly. You need you wake up and understand that the Lord of All has ultimate authority over nature!

There are four main religions in this country that are engaged in a holy war against Christianity.

The number one religion, The Abortion Charismatics. The abortion religion in truth has as its foundation the worshipping of anti-submission to men. These death Stalinists use accusations of oppression as their guardian while marching on, putting the sword to the enemy, the trespassing fetus. Conversly, The Bible advises us to choose life and states that those who side with death are with the devil.

Religion number two, The Orthodox Homosexuals. The homosexual hit squad, they worship immoral sex and preach its acceptance with a formidable vigor. The religion of orgasms, just as long as you partake with someone of the same gender.

Religion number three, The Pentecostal Environmentalists. They worship myths and have as their god mother nature. This includes the global warming cash cow. They worship animals, the same animals God instructed us to subdue in Genesis. They worship the earth, the same earth God advises us in the Bible not to love due to the fact that it is fallen and ruled by Satan.

And the forth religion, The United Church of Envy. The religion of envy has as its decree welfare, social programs of all kinds, and higher taxes. It wishes to crucify anyone who is successful. The wealth of others is condemned. They fiercely seek conversion, not conversion of souls…conversion of other people?s money – to themselves. This faction is represented by Poverty Pastors from all status levels in society.

The Mega Church of Liberalism houses all these religions. They are extremely tolerant of any religion so long as its not that of the true God. Their enemy is not Satan as in Christianity, but their common enemy is in fact Christ. Hence the unity among the various religions.Their strategy is to incrementally replace Christianity with their false gods and religions of idolatry. At the same time they are attempting to diminish the credibility of God of the Bible and of Christianity.

THIS IS WHY OBAMA NEEDS A SCRIPT

Last night Obama had to field an off-the-cuff question from ABC News: “If you had it to do over again, knowing what you know now, would you support the surge?”

Well .. there was a small problem. This was not a question that Barack’s handlers had prepared him for. He had no script. He had to ad lib, and for Obama that’s not good. Sit down folks. Here is Barack’s answer. See if you can make any sense at all out of this. Remember, this is the man who wants to be our Commander in Chief responding to a question dealing with military matters. So … we at the Nuze are now proud to present Obama’s answer to the difficult question “If you had to do it over again, knowing what you know now, would you support the surge:”

“No, because keep in mind that question, you wouldn’t … but keep in mind that kind of hypothetical is very difficult to know hindsight is 20-20 … later … but I think that what I’m absolutely convinced of is that at that time we had to change the political debate because the view of the Bush administration at that time was one that I just disagreed with.”

Wow! Now that’s just amazing! What off-the-cuff eloquence! This guy is really sharp. Now we all know why Barack Obama would still vote against the surge … the troop surge that worked.

Lordy, folks. We have to get over this mass hysteria and start to get serious about selecting our next president. This is just getting ridiculouser and ridiculouser.

    RWNB,

I agree with your first comment on all points. But it’s the religion thing that adds even more “confusion” to this entire agenda of the NWO. Hitler used Romans 13, much as these so-called preachers are doing now (Google, “clergy response teams”), to control Germany. I feel that the Bible has been confounded and rewritten by man so much that we can have zero idea what was being said or what what was supposed to be said, but ommited by priests. These monks that “translated” the original texts were under a vow of silence and each were working on only a portion of the book. So even the Bible has been compartmentalized. The King James AUTHORIZED Version, is just that…what King James authorized all of us to read. We’ll never know what truth’s lay hidden, locked in some room in the Vatican.

But for me, religion has everything to do with the crappy state of the world as does all the rest of the evil.

But what you are saying about hidden and evil agenda’s of our illustrious leaders…I agree with. Those who scoff and ridicule are the swine onto which you cast pearls.

    Truth is ugly.

    “Heckler” –

The problem with you CONs’ “The Surge has worked!” meme is that you and John Sidney McCain the Third (for Shrub’s 3rd term) don’t seem to have any idea what “the Surge” was supposed to work for.

This is the difference between tactics and strategy. Yup, as a tactic, American troops have prevailed, more or less. But to what end?

George WMD Bush and McSame both said they’d remove US troops for Iraq if they asked us to. Iraq’s president has asked us to. But that screws up the Neo-CON wet dream for a hundred year occupation of Iraq and all that oil!

Meanwhile, if the “worldwide Islamo-Fascist conspiracy of terror” is who we’re after, maybe American forces should, y’know, go after ‘em where they are instead of where they were, don’tcha think?

“The Surge worked” so we need to keep “surging” for a hundred years?! That’s as if, after D-Day, the Allies decided to camp out on Normandy Beach for a hundred years rather than carry the war to Berlin.

    http://www.planetout.com/news/article.html?date=2008/07/21/1

    And this? heheheheh!

“Religion number two, The Orthodox Homosexuals. The homosexual hit squad, they worship immoral sex and preach its acceptance with a formidable vigor. The religion of orgasms, just as long as you partake with someone of the same gender.”

Actually, when I can stop laughing long enough, I think this is pretty true. But, as the theologian Nathan the Great always says, “let’s break it down”.

“Religion number two, The Orthodox Homosexuals.”

Actually, should be Unorthodox, but hey, who’d counting! Orthodoxy is sooooo, like, last century.

“The homosexual hit squad, they worship immoral sex and preach its acceptance with a formidable vigor.”

Heheheh. The more vigorous, the better! Glad you find it formidable. So do I most of the time!

“The religion of orgasms, just as long as you partake with someone of the same gender.”

This is tricky. Women worship the “religion of orgasms”, uh, not so much. They are waaaaay into the “religion of cuddlin’ and kissin’”. Anything else is BONUS! It’s straight guys who worship in the religion of orgasms. It is, in some mystical way, how they seem to keep score. Uh, so to speak.

And… the unorthodox homosexuals, and I believe it’s true of the orthodox as well, dont REQUIRE those orgasms to be with the same gender. Worshiping alone, but not in silence, is an art form unto itself. And.. we welcome bi folks as well as the transgendered. But then, that’s just us and our church. OUR doors are open to all. Uh, so to speak!

But thanks for playing RWB. Very good observations from the outside.

Back to a little more sane conversation here. I think that it’s pathetic that someone like Osama’s driver can get the rights and privileges of a U.S. citizen. I don’t think I have ever seen such a quick trial and decision in any other court case, not even McVeigh. How can anyone believe that Osama would have a driver that was not loyal to him and not be a part of his madness.

As for Osama, he is DEAD. It has been so obvious. The media has been playing old videos of him and putting nothing but liberal talking points in his mouth. All you hear is what they say the translation says. He was too arrogant to agree with any American, he hated ALL Americans.

Even the batches I consider to be failures. My friends now refer to them as “Failure Rolls,” since they’re still really good. Just not like Mom made ‘em.

Here’s a good deal for all of us. Since we all think some of the posts here are totally off in some left field beyond our ability to play, how ’bout if we all look at those as satire. No matter what the poster intended, if we think it’s really “out there” we laugh. Maybe that means we quit poking fun (or worse!) at one another and concentrate on the ideas and opinions. Maybe it means nothing more than we laugh more often.

I have loved RedWhiteNBlue’s posts! And even more I’ve laughed — both at the posts and the people who didn’t see as satire. Now I’m laughing even harder because it might be a serious poster and the whole joke is on me!

Somehow, nothing that mom or grandma makes is EVER as good when you make it yourself, I have found. My grandmother has this phenomenal Hungarian breakfast casserole that she makes ONLY on christmas day – and she has to make four pans of it and there is NEVER any leftovers. She gave me the recipe years ago, but no matter how many times I try to make it, it is never the same as when she does it. Same goes for her Turkey gravy – which I also have the recipe to, and also cannot repeat no matter how much I try.

The “ONLY on christmas day,” might have something to do with why it’s so spectacular.

“My grandmother has this phenomenal Hungarian breakfast casserole that she makes ONLY on christmas day…”

Is it called “strada?” (Or “strata?” I’m unsure about the spelling.)

My Mom used to make it for Christmas breakfast. Eggs and cheese and ham or sausage…other stuff. I have the recipe, but can’t make it either.

I suspect my Mom left something out, just so hers would always be better.

She had a record for doing that.

My fraternal grandmother was a teetotaler, Women’s Christian Temperance League, Carry Nation was her girlhood heroine. Mom had a recipe for Rum Cream Pie she served for Christmas Dinner dessert.

Now, most of the alcohol (if not all) cooks out when you make the cream pie filling, but when Grandmother ate three pieces and asked for the recipe, Mom didn’t have the courage to tell her to include the cup or so of RUM! in the mix.

And for several years, Grandmother would muse that “mine just doesn’t taste as good as yours!”

Speaking of hate amendments, sorry folks, but. . .it’s baaaaack! :(

    http://www.politicalaffairs.net/article/articleview/7138/

One tiny good thing to come out of it (sorta):
Over the July 4 weekend, the Sierra Vista Herald reported that Bee had lost the endorsement of former Rep. Jim Kolbe, who held the seat for 22 years before retiring in 2007. Kolbe had been serving as an honorary chairman of Bee’s campaign, providing an important local endorsement as well as support with fundraising.

Kolbe did not provide specific reasons for his break with the Bee campaign, announcing simply: “I will not be actively campaigning for Bee.” Bee’s campaign said Kolbe withdrew his support for “personal reasons,” but did not elaborate further.

The Herald speculates that Kolbe’s decision may be related to Bee’s recent state Senate vote in support of a statewide referendum on a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. Bee’s vote on June 27 broke a deadlock in the Senate and ensured that the marriage amendment would appear on the ballot this November. At the time of his retirement, Kolbe was the only openly gay Republican in Congress.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/07/07/politics/politico/thecrypt/main4237361.shtml

And, btw, it wasn’t just a “Senate vote”–Tim Bee is Senate president–he forced the vote.

So, being as optimistic as I can, one hopes the good sense of AZ voters will prevail again and, in the meantime, Bee will have to deal with the anamosity of the Republican who used represent the district for 22 years! :)

More evidence Obama is a lightweight? An empty suit?

The vaunted middle east trip is nothing other than a campaign commercial, including what Andrea Mitchell called “fake interviews.” This from a candidate who incredibly and quite presumptuously is apparantly engaging in what can be fairly called negotiations with foreign governments.

    A quote:

Let me just say something about the message management. He didn’t have reporters with him, he didn’t have a press pool, he didn’t do a press conference while he was on the ground in either Afghanistan or Iraq. What you’re seeing is not reporters brought in. You’re seeing selected pictures taken by the military, questions by the military, and what some would call fake interviews, because they’re not interviews from a journalist. So, there’s a real press issue here. Politically it’s smart as can be. But we’ve not seen a presidential candidate do this, in my recollection, ever before.

    -Andrea Mitchell, on Hardball.

But, as I noted elsewhere, you can’t stage-manage foreign leaders–they will say what they say. I would suggest reading the foreign press online to get a sense of things (and wave hello to the NSA while you’re at it!).

I am a little confused by the people that want to ‘repeal’ DADT. What do you think would happen?

We’d go back to the old days of the UCMJ. Gay people would have to lie to get in the military and if found out they would be discharged.

Repealing DADT is not the answer. The UCMJ needs to be ammended to make homosexuallity legal.

A satanic cult (Illuminism) is undermining our family identity to render us isolated, childless, sex-obsessed, dysfunctional, and docile.

I am referring to the Masonic Rothschild-Rockefeller cult-cartel that runs Europe and America and is behind Communism and Feminism. Destroying marriage and family was a plank in their Communist Manifesto (1848) and now is part of their satanic New World Order.

We don’t recognize that society is becoming gay because we think of homosexuality in terms of same-sex attraction. If we redefine it as “inability to bond with a member of the opposite sex for purposes of procreation,” the gay trend is clear.

The American marriage rate has dropped almost 50% since 1970. Thirty seven percent of American children do not live with both biological parents, the highest percentage among Western nations, compared to 9% in 1965.

Almost 40% of children were born out of wedlock in 2005 compared to 8% in 1965.

Only one-in-four households consist of married couples with children, compared to two-in-four in 1960.

“The United States has the weakest families in the Western world because we have the highest divorce rate and the highest rate of solo parenting,” says Rutgers Sociology Professor David Popenoe.

A defining characteristic of homosexuality is sexual promiscuity. Since media induced “sexual liberation,” society has become obsessed with sex and all human relations have been degraded. (See my “Is this Gay Behavior Sick?” and “Playboy and the (Homo) Sexual Revolution.”

Now the educational system is actually promoting sex to children. Where I live, a father complained that a public health teacher told his 12-year-old daughter’s class to have sex at age 13. They were taught about flavored condoms and shown graphic pictures that appaulled the children.

This action exposes the public school system for what it has become: an instrument of mass corruption, indoctrination and child abuse. With 13-year-olds told to have sex, is it any wonder they are inviting adult predators to their homes? (See “NBC Dateline: To Catch a Predator”) How long will it be before pedophilia is legalized?

A strong marriage is the foundation of a family. Girls today will reach marital age feeling jaded and abused, and possibly already will have a child. Compare this to just 50-years-ago when sex was consecrated for marriage and family.

Schools are actually teaching children to adopt the gay lifestyle and experiment with gay sex. Courts are upholding the right of schools to debauch children over their parents’ objections.

“Thirty seven percent of American children do not live with both biological parents, the highest percentage among Western nations, compared to 9% in 1965.”

And yet, we’re the least liberal nation in the Industrialized world. Hmm. Perhaps that’s your problem RWB. Feminism is the cure. Supporting Gay Families is the cure.

“Compare this to just 50-years-ago when sex was consecrated for marriage and family.”

No, you mean when girls who got pregnant were forced to move to their ‘aunt’s’ house for the summer, had their children stripped from them or worse, obtained an illegal and unsafe abortion. Lets not forget the shotgun marriage where women by the truckloads were tied to worthless abusers for life.

As far as pedophilia- we’ve got that going on in the Mormon FLDS, the Catholic priesthood, and if they aren’t conservative I don’t know who is.

He presents a Mona Lisa of a number of serious facts and then paints a moustache on it by throwing all this rediculous and sadly, incitable hate crap.

    Much more than satire.

Heh Steven, you may be right, but I think there’s nothing funny about the catholic church.

And no, I’m not going to provide a link. Let’s see the catholicophiles use the google.

I know where I found that info.

    Let me see here…

Chas routinely makes bogus claims which are obviously off the wall or wrong. Sometimes he makes other claims which are not so obvious, but still questionable.

He will never back up his claims and when caught in saying something obviously wrong, he will never admit to it and will only twist his way out of it.

Yet, those of us who merely want Chas to own up to his being wrong on something are the ones beating a dead horse or are annoying?

    Yeah right.

Why don’t those of you one the left spend half as much time getting onto Chas for the either outright stupid things he says or the ourtirhgt vlugar things he says rather than those of us who try to get him to own up to it?

The last time Steven got onto Chas for calling someone a Bitch was the only time I think I can ever say Chas ever came close to saying he was wrong (even though he didn’t really, he spent more time justifying what he said, never apologized, but did say it was “over the line”).

Perhaps if those of you on the left would stop protecting Chas when he says his stupid things or calls people such vulgar names he would stop and then those of us who simply want to hold him accountable wouldn’t have a dead horse to beat and annoy you in the process.

    Nathan,

Given that you don’t seem to be an especailly good at observing human behavior, rightly, or wrongly – and I will say I think it is wrong – Chas does not do apologies. He would be better off if he could, but he obviously can’t, or more likely, won’t.

So, my question is: What profits a man, if he gripes about Chas, every day, but loses his soul? I confess, I have been reading too much RWNB today. It just might be time for a break. Before I go, though, isn’t there a time when we let stuff go – Chas not apologizing as an example. I believe you and GMC could post about that for an eternity and nothing would change.
Was it A.A. that said doing the same thing, but expecting different results, was the definition of insanity? Resting my case, counselor.

Thanks for the laughs today, folks. I have enjoyed this thread waaaaayyyyy too much.

There is the Post-milennial Rapture…. Where the Rapture happens AFTER the Great Tribulation….

    Steven,

If it is my observation that Chas doesn’t ever admit he is wrong and will never apologize and you even agree with me, how then do you start off saying that I am wrong in observing behavior here and then agree with my observations????

My point is that if the posters here who have no problem asking GMC70 to stop would spend half that amount of time asking Chas to own up, he probably would.

It took one poster, you, to get Chas close to owning up to what he does here.

I simply wonder if the same posters who get annoyed with GMC70 would show that same annoyance towards Chas for what he posted to start it, perhaps Chas might own up to it and it would be over.

    Maybe not.

So is it any less insane for those of you on the left to go after those on the right for going after Chas?

Why is it that the left never shows the same outrage over KansasNative, Maggotpunk, CapnAmerica, and others for constantly bringing up the same things against my father and I when it comes to our faith?

My point is this, when you on the left get annoyed with us on the right for going after Chas ad nauseum it is quite clear to me that you are merely being Hypocrites and protecting your side, i.e. Chas.

You never seem to have a problem when your side does the same thing to ours ad nauseum.

The Rapture is real and it will happen one day. No one knows when. Read Revelations. The Rapture is true. It is written! The words in the Bible that are in red are Jesus’ words. They are the words that he spoke! People witnessed him speaking these words. Jesus speaks of the Rapture in Revelations. How can we say that Jesus’ words are not true. The Rapture will happen and if we believe it will not we will be in for a shock one day. The Bible is not wrong and Jesus’ words are not wrong. Yes, God does send people to Hell who are not saved. Yes, God will leave people behind who are unsaved when he brings the saved to Heaven. This is the truth and it is up to people to believe it, but if they choose not to then unfortunately when they die or the Rapture happens whichever comes first they will go to Hell and during the Rapture they will be left behind.

I am sorry, but as a Christian I can’t stand when people say the Bible, God’s word is untrue! Bash me all you want, it will not bother me. Because I am standing up for God.

Okay, Nathaniel, here is the deal. Because you obviously don’t get it. Read back over the threads again if you need to for a refresher.

I certainly did not support Chas’s claims, nor did I have anything to do with the stupid freaking conversation. But here we are at day 5 of the on-going Rant, and the thing is that GMC is the one who won’t freaking let it drop! EVERY DAY he has to post something on here directed to Chas about that subject. The rest of us are flat sick of listening to it.

And by the way, I don’t call you out when I think you are being rude or callous towards other posters (which I HAVE seen you do on here before – sorry I don’t have a link to throw at you right this second), so why should I have to call Chas out for acting the same way? Unless you would like for me to start calling you out too?

And by the way, I resent your generalization of me as a “lib poster” since you don’t know anything about me or my political leanings to make that characterization, other than apparently if one doesn’t agree 100% with you then they must be a “lib”.

To put it quite simply – I would like to be able to come on to the open thread and have a conversation with other posters about general things without being interrupted and/or run off by a degenerating yelling rant between GMC and Chas, which is what inevitably will happen, as it does EVERY TIME GMC brings the damn original conversation up. If he is that hot and bothered about it, find a different thread to post it on, one that doesn’t interrupt the rest of us trying to have adult conversation.

    Rage,
    I’ll humor you…heh.

Those were some of his thoughts…and some of mine as well.

My take on “divide and conquer:, Google “Ordo ab Chao”.

For the owl thing, Google “Bohemian Grove”, they do some zany things.

For the war for profit and actually starting wars, Google, “Operation Northwoods”, “Operation Ajaz”, “The Gulf of Tonkin Incident”, “The Sinking of The Maine” and the propaganda by Hearst, ie; “Yellow Journalism”.

Isn’t it pretty obvious that we’re being dumbed down?

Dunno about the Moon, all that I do know is that we were racing The Soviet’s and the 2001 movie looked pretty convincing for the time.

Google “Operation Paperclip” and that’ll show you the beginning for our beloved NASA.

Funny how in the same year Roswell was complaining, the CIA was born.

Everytime some school shooting happens, more gun legislation is passed…that’s the “Hegelian Dialectic” working. Y’know? they create the problem, we react to it and lo’ and behold, they have a solution. Thesis, Antithesis and Synthesis.

Break is over…I’ll be back later.

Shifting of the PDO to Cool Mode Assures Global Cooling for the Next Three Decades

    – Don J. Easterbrook, Dept. of Geology, Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA. Addressing the Washington Policymakers in Seattle, WA, Dr. Don Easterbrook said that shifting of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) from its warm mode to its cool mode virtually assures global cooling for the next 25-30 years and means that the global warming of the past 30 years is over.

The announcement by NASA that the (PDO) had shifted from its warm mode to its cool mode is right on schedule as predicted by past climate and PDO changes (Easterbrook, 2001, 2006, 2007) and is not an oddity superimposed upon and masking the predicted severe warming by the IPCC. This has significant implications for the future and indicates that the IPCC climate models were wrong in their prediction of global temperatures soaring 1F per decade for the rest of the century.

    ————-

I have no idea about Avery’s reasoning on the organic food claims, but organic food is grown with “natural” fertilizers including manure. Manure brings with it the possibility of pathogens such as e coli. When dangerous food contamination happens, it’s from pathogens.

A Bad Time For Organic Believers

    October 3, 2006

It’s a bad moment for believers in the mystical wonders of organic and natural foods. Deadly E. coli bacteria, lurking in spinach from one of the biggest organic farms in America, just killed one woman and hospitalized at least 29 other people with kidney failure. In all, the contaminated spinach sickened nearly 200, in at least 23 states and Canada.

Meanwhile, several California kids are on kidney dialysis with permanent organ damage from the same virulent strain of E. coli O157: H7 after consuming raw, un-pasteurized milk or colostrum from the Organic Pastures Dairy of Fresno.

Tragically, the victims were all seeking greater food safety and the promised health benefits of vegetables and milk produced the “old-fashioned way.”

Earthbound Farms, which grew the contaminated spinach, is being sued by a shocked family of organic believers in Ohio. Three family members were sickened, and one daughter has permanent kidney damage.

Earthbound Farms advertises that it sells “Food for Life,” and says “It’s just plain healthy to include lots of organic vegetables in your diet.” That certainly rings hollow today.

Now the farm’s parent company has recalled huge batches of spinach sold all over the country under a variety of labels. “We will do whatever is necessary to help protect the health and safety of the consumers,” said an Earthbound spokesperson.

Does that mean Earthbound will stop fertilizing its leafy vegetables with cow manure? Most conventional farmers fertilize their food crops with “chemical” fertilizer, and put their livestock manure on feed crops like corn. Organic farmers reject chemical fertilizer. Instead, they compost raw cattle manure for some weeks, hoping that will kill any dangerous organisms that could contaminate the food. Sometimes it doesn’t.

In the old days, when organic produce came from a few little farms, an occasional sick customer was no big deal. Often, the victim refused to believe organic food could cause the illness. But so many people now believe the organic hype that organic farms have gotten big and corporate and the manure-related consumer epidemics make national news.

Organic Pastures ironically boasts that raw dairy foods are an outstanding source of nutrients and “beneficial bacteria.” Unfortunately, it’s also a source of dangerous bacteria.

The organic dairy claims “Raw milk strengthens the immune system.” And that organic raw milk has “many enzyme-based pathogen-killing systems.” Apparently not enough of them.

“It has been theorized,” says the organic company, “that the combination of grass feeding, no antibiotics used, no hormones, and low levels of grain used in the diet cause a change in the cow’s immune system and rumen. This change in physiology inhibits pathogen development in the [organic] milk.”

That isn’t even a theory. It’s a marketing lie, designed to wring a higher price from the consumer for a product that’s condemned by health authorities because of its inherent dangers. The FDA says drinking raw milk is playing Russian roulette with your health. Such milk-borne diseases as tuberculosis and undulant fever were epidemic in the days before pasteurized milk. Now the E. coli pathogens revealed the lie again.

The Sierra Club and the Natural Resources Defense Council are trying to blame “factory livestock farms” for the O157 in the cattle manure. But a recent Swiss study found organic cows have as much O157 as other cows. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says it’s found the deadly O157 in every cattle herd it’s tested.

Our objective should be to get the manure away from our food crops. Organic and natural aren’t safer, or more nutritious: Just more expensive, and far more dangerous.

“However, according to Robert Tauxe, M.D., chief of the food borne and diarrheal diseases branch of the CDC, there is no such data on organic food production in existence at their centers and he says Avery’s claims are ‘absolutely not true.’ Even Gregory Conko of the Competitive Enterprise Institute has commented critically on Avery’s dubious use of statistics: ‘looking at a few selectively reported cases from a single year doesn’t seem to be convincing anybody who doesn’t already have a predilection to believe you in the first place.’

However, stories about ‘killer organic food’ have appeared in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Ironically, a UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) report concludes organic practices actually reduce e-coli infection and reduce the levels of contaminants in foods. Avery’s attribution of danger to organic farming on the basis that it makes use of manure is, in fact, nonsensical. In the UK, for example, conventional farmers use about 80 million tonnes of manure a year as a fertiliser. Just 9,000 tonnes goes on organic land.

The Hudson Institute is funded by many firms whose products are excluded from organic agriculture: eg, AgrEvo, Dow AgroSciences, Monsanto, Novartis Crop Protection, Zeneca, Du Pont, DowElanco, ConAgra, and Cargill. ”

“Kirschenmann serves on the National Organic Standards Board which was charged by Congress to advise the USDA in formulating its legal standards defining organic food. “In organic systems, most animals have to have access to pasture, so they can’t be concentrated in huge feedlots,” he says, adding that Avery’s charge that organic food is grown in manure is misleading, at best. “Organic farmers use manure, but virtually every certification organization I know of doesn’t allow raw manure.
Raw manure must either be composted or applied long enough in advance that the bacteria is no longer active,” he said, adding that this requirement is being written into USDA’s proposed rules.”

Harry Potter movies and books is a seduction of young people into the world of magic and evil by dark seducing spirits.

What do seducing spirits do? They seduce–and they are very good at it. It’s the same with the Harry Potter magic as it is with pornography and drugs and Halloween, the so-called “Innocent” demon celebration.

What seducing spirits do is start with pretend innocence–”oh, it’s just a little harmless magic;” or “it’s just soft-porn;” or “it’s just a little weed;” or “Halloween is just an innocent holiday.” Once they get people on the hook, then they draw them deeper and deeper into the seduction of spiritual darkness.

From what I’ve heard, the latest Harry Potter movie was the darkest one yet. For Christians, participating in these things is like throwing “just a little incense” on the altars of these idols…It may seem innocent, but innocent-looking demons are still deadly demons.

Really. . .? Outlander, do YOU have “evidence” that the manure used as fertilizer wasn’t “composted”?

The PDF says that there were wild pigs in the area that could’ve gotten into the field, and the irrigation water may have been contaminated.

    http://www.misa.umn.edu/Organic_Spinach.html
“Some of the spinach initially suspected in the outbreak was organic spinach packaged by the Natural Selection company (doing business as Earthbound Farms).
By March of 2007, the Food and Drug Administration had determined that the source of the outbreak was Dole brand “Baby Spinach,” and that it most likely came from a California cattle ranch that leased land to vegetable growers. The suspected field was in its 36-month transition period to certified organic production, and the spinach had been sold as conventional spinach. Only if you have a moronic farmer who applies the manure when you aren’t supposed to. Manure isn’t applied to crops once they’ve begun to sprout. If you can somehow discover some new scientific discovery that reveals that plants are able to ingest ecoli bacteria then you might get yourself an award.

Vegetables get infected with ecoli during processing when unsanitary methods are used. Since bacterial infections often result from untreated water the safest thing to do is to use clean water. But those are simple regulations which make conservatives outraged.

And NO, boys and girls were not in the pool at the same time!! So, dont even start!! Oh yea, I never said they were either…
    ——–

I find the story incredible and pert’ near impossible to believe, but after some (sorta) corroboration from Predestined, it may be so. Eeewwww. Why, or why would a school do that? EVER?

On the other hand, schools can do some incredibly stupid things. I spend 12 years teaching, and yes, sometimes you would look at what came from administration and wonder . . . did they disconnect their brains when they went into administration???

That’s called an admission that I may be wrong, Chas. Try it. It’ll make you feel good.

Having said that, Chas, I’ll take the above (emphasis added) as an admission on your part.

Chas, it does not hurt anything to admit it when you think you are wrong. I would not suggest admitting wrong, if you think you are not.

See, Chas, that’s the difference between you and me. I recognize that I make errors. I may have been wrong to disbelieve the ‘nekkid’ story, and I still find the story hard to believe. There appears to be some (though rather weak) corrobation, however, consisting of “rumors” that same was going on.

It is some corroboration, I guess.

You made some nasty charges, sluring unnamed posters with no evidence and no basis whatsoever. The “links” you provided had nothing to do with the charges – they’re a red herring. But you continue to deny the obvious.

So – we’re left with an unintended admission, perhaps? A Freudian slip? Whatever – it is what it is. “This time” is differentiated from “that time.” That distinguishes the two times. I’ll freely admit at least the possibility of error “this time.” That leaves “that time.” Sounds like an admission to me. I’ll take the admission, acknowledge same, and let it go.

So I’ll STFU. That is, of course, Stereo Trees Finding Usefulness. Making important things. Like guitars.

    I think I’ll borrow a ‘chortle’ now.

What we got was you saying what you said was “over the line” while justifying your saying it.

Of course that is not good enough for me.

You gave a half hearted admittance that what you said was “over the line” while you spent more time justifying your saying it.

“You made some nasty charges, sluring unnamed posters with no evidence and no basis whatsoever. The “links” you provided had nothing to do with the charges – they’re a red herring. But you continue to deny the obvious.”

Last I looked, you cant “slur” that which is un-named… The “links” I provided are no more red herring that the video link posted last nite by Annie… However, you didnt call THAT link a red herring….

A little bit selective, are we??

And yet again, you cast aspersion on a story I related from my youth, regarding something I thought odd for many years… and you refer to it as “rumors” — Last I heard, there are usually no WITNESSES to “rumors” —-

So, there you have it… NOBODY was slurred here… except for in YOUR mind…

And THAT is why I wont post your damned apology… or admission, or whatever the hell you are calling it tonite…

    Chas,

I think if you make a sincere effort to say you are sorry for whatever you think you did wrong, that is probably more important than if someone accepts your apology. An apology benefits one’s self in terms of doing what one thinks is right. It also helps to some degree redress errors made in terms of others’ needs.

Generally an apology is a good thing. They can be over-done. I have not seen you as being guilty of that error.

I am not sure I can say much more about this subject.

    **********

You were asking Linda to say something about Apophis being annoying. He clearly was. I was not planning on making a judgement about his behavior as “better/ok” or anything else.

I think his behavior, like yours, offers statements about him and what he values. The behavior speaks for itself and my judgements about it don’t seem particularly important.

I don’t know Apophis. I will make comments on what I see as Chas’s issues because I have met him and liked him. I don’t like to see him have what I consider to be unnecessary embarrassments. But, to make an obvious comment, I don’t have a lot of control over Chas’s behavior.

    And you “Auntie”?

Well, I suspect you have met at least one and maybe more posters too.

Now just for edification, any readers should know that “ANTI” was origingally “ANTI JR”. A nic specifically created to fight me. I guess I should be flattered.

From a new poster? Nah. I don’t think so.

Oh? And neither does anyone else by the way.

    I don’t care either way.

  348. Posted July 22, 2008 at 11:07 pm | Permalink

And I see Hank Price had at me today as well.

Well, I guess I asked for that. I assumed that “AUNTIE” was Hank or Nathan or James McCluer.

It was James McCluer who kind of made nics irrelevant here. So I don’t feel to awful bad about playing along.

I mean at trusting no one as opposed to be untrustable my own self.

As far as I am concerned, any new con poster is someone I have already met but just hiding in a new nic.

But I DO know and have met Hank Price.

Here is what I get as to him “here”.

Holding him to his own standards of judgement ya know.

Hank ran off to sea leaving the mother of his child to raise that child alone.

Then, Hank came back home, married well, and turned his son against his own mother. In the process, he juvenelized his son to under the age of 10 again. Daddy and NEW mommy and all. Oh and of course there was the money.

And me a poor single dad these last 13 years. I am supposed to care what such folks think?

    No.

Bearing in mind that all the above is just my assessment, the Price’s have been far more free in theirs.

Is the “Earth Friendly, Farm Friendly” seal a good indicator that the food I’m buying was sustainably produced?

No. Consumers wanting to support sustainable agriculture should avoid products bearing this seal, which was created by the Center for Global Food Issues (CGFI). This offshoot of the Hudson Institute—a think tank funded by corporate agribusiness, chemical and pesticide manufacturers, the biotechnology industry, and others—opposes organic farming and efforts to reduce the use of medically important antibiotics in farm animals, while supporting the crowding of animals onto “factory” farms.”

You SAW clearly that PreD verified the practice at another, different school…

It’s funny, but all these nearly 50 years, I’ve thought the whole swimming naked thing was a joke, but when Chas posted that in 1969 it was going on, I had no reason to believe it ever was a joke. Color me surprised! Sorta.

I never asked any of the “guys” in the neighborhood. How would a 10-year-old ask a 15-year-old if he swam naked in the shool pool? I could now, of course, ask one who graduated in ‘64 or ‘65, if it’s truly needed.

Chas and I are the same age, both graduated in 1969, and the practice at West as I’m familiar with it was in the early 60’s. I moved away in ‘63, so I don’t have a clue what went on at any Wichita high school after that, nor did I care. We didn’t have a pool where I went to high school. We didn’t have a “city” pool until the end of my sophomore year, and I can assure you we DID wear suits. Well, there were those guys who took to skinny dipping after midnight…

I have to add an amen to that, ANTI. Hate can consume and eat away at a person from the inside out, leaving nothing. Anger can also be a form of depression.

I remember talking to one of my daughters when she was young about the icky dark feeling a person has inside when they’re angry or feeling “hate” for someone. Just putting it into words to tell her made me more aware.

Emotions, good and bad, are human. Everyone has them, but neither letting them overtake you nor trying to avoid them is healthy. Become aware of your emotion, give it its due name, and move on. That’s real mental health.

    http://blogs.kansas.com/weblog/2008/07/open-thread-722-2/#comment-387759

If you compared the heights of a group of people to a “reference” height of 5 feet, a 6 foot tall person would be +12 inches.

If the “reference” was 7 feet, a 6 foot tall person would be -12 inches.

Both height data sets contain the same data, if you adjust for the different “references”.

    Re: Harry Potter and Christians

J.K. Rowlings series has nothing to do with religion. Why Christians think it does is beyond me. Nor do “witches” and “wizards” have anything to do with Paganism in her books. It’s all about fantasy.

In the first Harry Potter, Christmas is celebrated. Not Yule, not Hanukkah, just Christmas. That sure doesn’t seem anti-Christian to me.

Harry Potter is simply a story about the battle between good and evil. Even without religion, there will always be that. So what is it that the Christians have a problem with?

And aren’t the Chronicles of Narnia stories of fantasy?

    ANTI,

Of course you know my agreeing with you doesn’t make us friends, right?

(I hope you find the humor in that.)

PreD — Just a fast note — I Graduated in ‘69…. The incident I described earlier was in my sophomore year, so, Fall, ‘66 or Spring, ‘67 I am guessing… I also remember that the pool area was locked down during boys’ swimming sessions…

    annie-moose,

If you were rocked by Da Vinci Code, have you read Dan Brown’s Angels & Demons? It’s slated to come out as a movie next year and was actually published and written before Da Vinci, introducing Robert Langford’s character and explaining his fear of enclosed places. I liked it even better.

I see no reason why the theory put forth in Da Vinci couldn’t be true. It actually makes more sense. There are many books out there about the same. Brown just made it more interesting. :)

    Chas,

I was gone from Wichita by then. Hearing it when I was 9 or 10 would mean around ‘60 or ‘61. Could have been a year or so later or maybe earlier. We used to walk around West High for something to do and the subject came up when we rounded the area where the pool (and that drinking fountain!) was. I can’t remember now WHO said it, but I do remember it clearly. Nothing wrong with my long-term memory. Short-term sucks swamp water. :)

BTW, I agree with you on DaVinci… I could tell you WHY, but then I would be called a liar again… and well, you know, that would go on for another five freakin days…

    WS Clark,

You know why you should apologize. You said you would apologize. So were you lying to me when you said you would apologize and now refuse to do so?

Not only are you not apologizing, you have basically rubbed the original comment in my face again.

I simply expect you to be a man of your word.

Obviously you don’t feel you need to be. You made an offer and I met my end of the deal and now you refuse to meet yours and instead continue with the insults and name calling.

The better man, you are not.

    Predestined,

There is a book called Harry Potter and The Bible.

I am not vouching for it’s accuracy, but it does address some of the reasons for why some don’t like the books.

    Nathaniel,

You didn’t answer my question to you upthread at 2:44 pm.

Is the agricultural economist Dennis Avery an honest, and credible source re AGW climate science?

And also re the former British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher?

‘Dennis Avery kills climate change AND Maggie Thatcher’
    http://www.desmogblog.com/a-newsletter-is-all-it-takes-for-some-global-warming-deniers
“With characteristic attention to the facts, Dennis Avery, Monsanto’s man in the organic food debate, killed both climate change and former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in a post yesterday on his Centre for Global Food Issues website.”

Those are easy questions, Nathaniel. Can you answer them?
    No. . .? Why not?

And does your dad now understand the temperature data sets?
