UN IPCC MAN-MADE EMISSIONS GROSSLY OVERSTATED

Reports by the US Dept of Energy (DOE) indicate that 97% of the annual carbon dioxide emissions come from Nature itself. The report also indicates that more than 98% of all the carbon dioxide emissions are absorbed again by Nature.

    What does this mean?

It means that since the start of the Industrial Revolution the increase in carbon dioxide levels of about 103ppmv are 97% due to Nature itself, that is to say that only about 3ppmv of that increase is due to man-made emissions. The absorption by Nature of 98.5% of all carbon dioxide also means that of the annual man-made carbon dioxide emissions, only 1.5% stays behind in the atmosphere - 346 million tonnes in 2004, which is the equivalent of just 0.04% of the total annual carbon dioxide emissions by Nature and mankind combined.

Irrespective of its residence time or the absolute quantities, it shows that Nature is not only the main driver of carbon dioxide emissions but also that Nature is perfectly capable of dealing with those emissions, both natural and man-made.

UN IPCC is shown to have grossly overestimated the amount of man-made carbon dioxide in our atmosphere and has also grossly underestimated the amount of carbon dioxide that Nature absorbs and Nature can not distinguish man-made carbon dioxide from the naturally occurring variety. Immediate demands should be made of the UN IPCC to stop its advice to Policymakers for drastic carbon dioxide emission reductions and all carbon trading schemes should be abandoned.

UN IPCC advice is destroying economies around the world for no reason and neither emission reductions nor carbon trading will have any effect whatsoever on the naturally occurring carbon dioxide cycle. The greenhouse hypothesis - what most climatologists call “the basic science” - offers a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. What passes for climate science today is mostly science fiction.

Ausra’s Las Vegas solar thermal plant comes online…
The desert factory is supposed to make enough solar equipment to power the equivalent of nearly half a million homes.

Solar thermal company Ausra on Monday opened a Las Vegas factory meant to produce enough equipment each year to provide 700 megawatts of power.

The 130,000-square-foot facility is designed to manufacture massive mirrors and absorber tubes, employing 50 workers and leading to the creation of 1,400 construction jobs at solar sites.

eSolar, based in Pasadena, Calif., said on June 3 it will build 245 megawatts’ worth of plants for Southern California Edison.

Schott, of Germany, inaugurated a factory near Seville, Spain in May, and broke ground for a plant in New Mexico in March.

BrightSource, based in Oakland, Calif., contracted with PG&E in March to build 500 megawatts of solar thermal equipment for California.

Israel’s Solel announced in May two contracts to supply solar receivers for 11 Spanish power plants set to provide a total of 500 megawatts.

OBL is celebrating our independence day laughing — knowing that his plan is working —– worse president ever —

Bin Laden Transcript Outlines Plan to Bankrupt U.S. Through War

    Demian McLean

11/01/04 (Bloomberg) — Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden said he is trying to bankrupt the U.S. through its war on terror, a strategy he says felled the Soviet Union two decades ago in Afghanistan, according to a translation by al-Jazeera television of his full, videotaped statement.

“The mujahedeen recently forced Bush to resort to emergency funds to continue the fight in Afghanistan and Iraq, which is evidence of the success of the bleed-until-bankruptcy plan — with Allah’s permission,” bin Laden said in the video that aired on the Qatar-based satellite network, according to the translation, posted today to al-Jazeera’s Web site. The channel aired portions of the statement on Oct. 29.

President George W. Bush’s administration plans to seek an additional $70 billion from lawmakers for Iraq and Afghanistan, the head of the U.S. Army Materiel Command, General Paul Kern, said on Oct. 26. The U.S. Congress last year approved $87 billion for military operations and rebuilding in the two countries.

Bin Laden’s video appearance, his first since September 2003, came four days before the Nov. 2 presidential vote in which Bush’s anti-terrorism policies will play a central role. Bush’s challenger, Democratic Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts, said in debates and campaign speeches that the president should have focused on capturing bin Laden rather than invading Iraq.

    Financial Impact

Saudi-born bin Laden, who aided the Muslim resistance against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, boasts in his latest message of how little the Sept. 11 attacks cost and how large a financial impact they had on the U.S. Bin Laden accuses Bush of waging war to benefit Halliburton Co. and other contractors, and leaving American taxpayers with the bill. The Bush administration has rejected such linkages.

The terror leader cites a speech by an unidentified British diplomat at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, which he says outlines the financial impact of Sept. 11 by comparing the estimated $500,000 spent to carry out the assault with the damage caused.

Bin Laden said “every dollar of al-Qaeda defeated a million dollars by the permission of Allah, besides the loss of a huge number of jobs.”

The Bush policy of mounting a global war on terror has made it easy for al-Qaeda to “bait” the U.S. government, bin Laden said.

“All that we have to do is to send two mujahedeen to the furthest point East to raise a piece of cloth on which is written al-Qaeda, in order to make the generals race there to cause America to suffer human, economic, and political losses without their achieving for it anything of note other than some benefits for their private companies,” bin Laden said, according to the al-Jazeera transcript.

(Sounds like OBL is winning — his plan is working much better than the WPE’s) )

I thought this was and interesting article. I discovered it while cruizing the internet. How many other people or groups are allowed to get by with not submitting these ethics reports? How do we find out if others are getting by with this?

The Wichita Eagle reported yesterday about the Pastor arrested at the gay pride festival in Wichita on Sunday:
    http://www.kansas.com/212/story/449525.html#recent_comm

Bruce McKinney, was the Chair/Treasurer of a PAC that sent out a hit piece in Wichita in 2006 and then never filed a report with the Ethics Commission giving details of the money raised and spent. The Ethics Commission can’t find this guy – he simply refuses to accept mail from the Ethics Commission. Carol Williams from the Ethics Commission say she couldn’t see spending money to send an investigator to Wichita to investigate the matter since two mailings from her office had been returned as undeliverable.
Yesterday McKinney could be found by the Wichita Eagle and was quoted in the above article:
“For Bruce McKinney, who helped organize the first such parade in 1990, the protest and Holick’s arrest did nothing to dampen the mood of celebration.

‘Everybody I’ve talked to loved the park and loved the event,’ he said. ‘I really feel like it was a phenomenal day.’”

In March McKinney could be found by the Lawrence-Journal World
    http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2008/mar/31/ku_librarian_reaches_out_gay_kansans_untold_storie/
Bruce McKinney is one of those who wanted to be interviewed.

McKinney has been a voice in Wichita’s gay community for 35 years, when he came to the city to study education at Wichita State University. He formed the first gay group at WSU, but then ended up leaving the school empty-handed.

Why can’t the Ethics Commission find this guy and fine him for not filing a PAC Contributions and Expenditures report?
Attending Wichita Pride Parade or Festival on Sunday? Tell Bruce McKinney his PAC report to the Ethics Commission is late!
    June 26th, 2008
The Wichita Voters for Truth PAC sent out a hit piece in the Nov 2006 election, but never filed its Jan 2007 PAC report with the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission explaining how much money was raised and spent on that mailing. Bruce McKinney from Wichita was the Chair and Treasurer of this PAC.

According to the June 24, 2005 Wichita Eagle, “Gay Pride Parade, Festival Sunday”, Bruce McKinney organized the first Wichita gay pride events in 1990 and was quoted by the Eagle June 22, 2007, “Parade and Festival Part of Gay Pride Event,” about last year’s event. Bruce will likely be at the 2008 Pride Parade and Pride Festival this Sunday in Wichita, so if anyone sees Bruce at these events will you remind him the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission would like to talk to him about his missing PAC report from 2007?

    BOYCOTT WARREN THEATERS

At 9 bucks for a ticket and another 8-9 for way too much popcorn and a cola — the quality of movies being released isn’t worth it.

No longer is the theater a draw for the area — adding another screen won’t change that — digital technology will save the owners some money in film transportation costs —

Movie theater attendance continues to drop as the quality and cost continue to increase — instead of another theater maybe a Dave and Busters? … or even better convert the sports bar into a live theater / studio theater / rehearsal halls — and give the Wichita Community Theater a new home to replace the 80 y/o hovel they are in now — they are a class company with a long traqck record of great performances ….

I’ll go to a Warren Theater mayube when it looks like Warren has missed a meal or two …..

    Shrooms anyone?

Study Finds ‘Magic’ Mushrooms May Produce Long-Term Feelings of Well-Being
    Tuesday, July 01, 2008

In 2002, at a Johns Hopkins University laboratory, a business consultant named Dede Osborn took a psychedelic drug as part of a research project.

She felt like she was taking off. She saw colors. Then it felt like her heart was ripping open.

But she called the experience joyful as well as painful, and says that it has helped her to this day.

“I feel more centered in who I am and what I’m doing,” said Osborn, now 66, of Providence, Rhode Island. “I don’t seem to have those self-doubts like I used to have. I feel much more grounded (and feel that) we are all connected.”

Scientists reported Tuesday that when they surveyed volunteers 14 months after they took the drug, most said they were still feeling and behaving better because of the experience.

Two-thirds of them also said the drug had produced one of the five most spiritually significant experiences they had ever had.

The drug, psilocybin, is found in so-called “magic mushrooms.” It is illegal in the United States, but it has been used in religious ceremonies for centuries.

    1) Over 70% of our National Debt was created by just 3 Republican presidents.

Go ahead, get out your calculator and add up debt by president/party. Apparently the party that claims fiscally responsibility thinks it’s ok to borrow massive amounts of money from foreign countries like China. Consider that we spend hundreds of billions of dollars in interest payments on this debt each year. That means more and more of your hard earned money is going to make interest only payments on what is basically a Giant National Credit Card. Not to mention the fact our debt/deficits are largely behind the weakness of our dollar, which in turns makes gas more expensive and creates other serious problems.

If you want to learn more about the National Debt, check out these links

    abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=news/business…

2)-According to new research from Larry Bartels out of Princeton, real middle class wage growth is double when a Democrat is president compared to when a Republican is president.

“…Even more remarkable, the real incomes of working-poor families…grew six times as fast when Democrats held the White House. Only the incomes of affluent families were relatively impervious to partisan politics, growing robustly under Democrats and Republicans alike…”: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/27/magazine/27wwln-ideal...

Here is a short summary of this research: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2008...

And here is a good, short audio interview with Larry Bartels: youngturks.wmod.llnwd.net/a591/o1/4-25-08Bartels…

3)-90% of Americans would pay less taxes under Obama’s proposed tax plan compared to McCain’s.

This is according to the non-partisan Tax Policy Institute as reported by CNN: money.cnn.com/2008/06/11/news/economy/candidates…

People making under $112,000 a year in individual (not household) income would pay less taxes under Obama’s plan.

By contrast, John McCain’s tax cuts mostly benefit the top 10% of Americans. Under McCain’s plan, people making over 2.9 million dollars in individual annual income would get almost a million dollar tax break.

Conclusion: Countless millions of Americans vote Republican because they believe they’ll pay less taxes and that they’ll have their money spent more responsibly. As you can see, those beliefs are directly contradicted by the facts. Of course we can choose to ignore the facts and instead focus on which candidate is wearing a flag pin (you ever notice that Hillary and McCain don’t wear them? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vi5nbZvS9cg ) but I think we’re a smarter country than that.

This morning, I read an excellent treatise by Father Jonathan Morris, an affable, handsome young priest who is featured on Fox News’s website with regularity.

    http://foxforum.blogs.foxnews.com/2008/06/30/obamas-fatal-flaw/

In a distinct contrast to Mr. Dobson, the priest exudes intelligence, equanimity and keen insights here. He praises the Democratic candidate highly - and harbors grave concerns.

Frankly, I share Father’s concerns; were it not a contest between a backward-thinking Republican and a sometimes-confounding-yet-admirable Democrat, I could be tempted to reconsider my vote.

As I discovered even more fully this past weekend, the legacy of certain painful issues should neither be callously dismissed - nor crassly exploited either by me or others.

I would posit the following: As a society, we should be continually striving for betterment. Moreover, we should do so with respect for others. This past weekend, I knew - with excruciating clarity, the toll enacted by an abject lack of family and counsel. As the late Pope John Paul II stated in “The Gospel of Life” - at certain times “it is not good to leave her alone.”

Thankfully, no pregnancy and no abortion was involved; however, I was certainly left alone. I would respectfully counter Father Jonathan one one issue: Sometimes the Catholic Church has been fatally flawed as well.

It is not above the law; I can no longer regard its heirarchy as the final arbiter at all times - for all people - for all reasons.

But sometimes moral clarity (commitment) is needed. It is my belief that I should have exuded this clarity 33 years ago; Senator Obama should be striving more fully to this goal at present.

Obama to expand Bush’s faith based programs

By JENNIFER LOVEN, Associated Press Writer

Reaching out to evangelical voters, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is announcing plans to expand President Bush’s program steering federal social service dollars to religious groups and — in a move sure to cause controversy — support some ability to hire and fire based on faith…..

“The challenges we face today … are simply too big for government to solve alone,” Obama was to say, according to a prepared text of his remarks obtained by The Associated Press. “We need all hands on deck.”

Obama’s announcement is part of a series of events leading up to Friday’s Fourth of July holiday that are focused on American values.

But Obama’s support for letting religious charities that receive federal funding consider religion in employment decisions could invite a storm of protest from those who view such faith requirements as discrimination.

Obama does not support requiring religious tests for recipients of aid nor using federal money to proselytize, according to a campaign fact sheet. He also only supports letting religious institutions hire and fire based on faith in the non-taxypayer funded portions of their activities, said a senior adviser to the campaign, who spoke on condition of anonymity to more freely describe the new policy.

Bush supports broader freedoms for taxpayer-funded religious charities. But he never got Congress to go along so he has conducted the program through administrative actions and executive orders.

David Kuo, a conservative Christian who was deputy director of Bush’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives until 2003 and later became a critic of Bush’s commitment to the cause, said Obama’s position on hiring has the potential to be a major “Sister Souljah moment” for his campaign.

This is a reference to Bill Clinton’s accusation in his 1992 presidential campaign that the hip hop
“When it comes to promises to help the poor, promises are easy,” said Kuo, who wrote a 2006 book describing his frustration at what he called Bush’s lackluster enthusiasm for the program. “The question is commitment.”….

Like Bush, Obama was arguing that religious organizations can and should play a bigger role in serving the poor and meeting other social needs. …
“In time, I came to see faith as being both a personal commitment to Christ and a commitment to my community; that while I could sit in church and pray all I want, I wouldn’t be fulfilling God’s will unless I went out and did the Lord’s work,” he was to say

    From CNN:

Barack Obama on Monday seemed to take a direct swipe at MoveOn.org, the powerful liberal group which endorsed the Illinois senator’s candidacy earlier this year and was at times instrumental to his organization in several key battleground states.

In a speech designed to combat charges he lacks patriotism, Obama sharply condemned organizations that use “these old, threadbare arguments” to level criticisms and specifically pointed to MoveOn.org’s controversial newspaper ad last fall that attacked the top U.S. general in Iraq, David Petraeus.

Obama rejects proposed California gay marriage ban

    By Aurelio Rojas - arojas@sacbee.com

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, who previously said the issue of gay marriage should be left up to each state, has announced his opposition to a California ballot measure that would ban same-sex marriages.

In a letter to the Alice B. Toklas LGBT Democratic Club read Sunday at the group’s annual Pride Breakfast in San Francisco, the Illinois senator said he supports extending “fully equal rights and benefits to same-sex couples under both state and federal law.”

“And that is why I oppose the divisive and discriminatory efforts to amend the California Constitution, and similar efforts to amend the U.S. Constitution or those of other states,” Obama wrote.

Obama had previously said he opposes same-sex marriage but that each state should make its own decision.

    Indie,

If you go to the East or West coast a movie will cost you around 13 dollars in a theater that isn’t even close to as nice as the Warren.

The simple fact is that the Warren Theater is one of the nicest theaters in the country.

Are they the most expensive in town? Sure.

    However, they are the nicest.

When you go the the Warren you know that the isles are going to be clean and your feet are not going to stick to the floor.

They have a great sound system.

The chairs are some of the most comfortable as well.

Unless you get stuck wtaching a movie way after it comes out on the West side, you know that you you will be in a stadium style seating with excellent viewing or in the main theater.

The screens are large and you have an excellent view.

If you have not seen the latest digital viewing, you are missing out. I seen Iron Man via the digital projection on the East side. The quality was amazing.

I have been to theaters all over the world. I will now purposefully wait to watch a movie when I get home just so I can truely enjoy it at the Warren.

I will always go to the Warren.

It is worth an extra buck or two for the quality and enjoyment of watching a movie in style.

And I agree that the Warren is a very nice theater. So nice that my wife and I often go to the Northrock, where we are sure to get a seat to the movie we want to see (even if the sound system isn’t as nice).

    Agnatha,

The only time I have a problem getting a seat is when I try to show up 10 minutes before the movie starts to both buy a ticket and get in.

“I seen Iron Man via the digital projection on the East side.”

    hmmm …

I thought the bailout loan would enable him to put in the FIRST digital system in the region. He already has that in his other theaters?

    Ben,

Care to show where you are getting your information on how the loan was for digital screens in Old Town or how that would be the first digital system in the region?

I take back one part, the loan would help them convert the screens downtown, but Warren already had one screen on the East side converted.

The question is, why do you think it would have been for the “First” digital system?

I may be wrong on that Nathan - I just seem to recall it from an article about the loan last week.

    Ben,

I read the article, here you go:

    http://www.kansas.com/news/updates/story/451076.html

“The rest will pay for the owners to convert Oscars Sports Bar into another theater, buy digital projectors and sound equipment for all six screens and add more banquet space.”

I can’t seem to find an article titled:

“Warren theaters begin to go digital”

It talks about how they are already working on the East side and have one in place.

    Which I read somewhere…

I haven’t followed this all that closely.

    Days No Different

In some other thread there was a discussion about a band from Reno called Days No Different.

Anyway - I went to buy tickets today for Nickleback and noticed a poster of Days No Different being on the wall announcing their tour in additional to finally releasing the album of that song “Some Days” that keeps playing on the radio.

A little Googling and I found that the concert can easily be found on the Days No Different MySpace Profile. Anyway, if anybody goes to see them, let me know it’s worth the tickets.
