Barack Obama outlined today what he described as a “tough, smart and principled national security strategy.” In a speech at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C., Obama said he would focus on “five goals essential to making America safer: ending the war in Iraq responsibly, finishing the fight against al-Qaida and the Taliban, securing all nuclear weapons and materials from terrorists and rogue states, achieving true energy security, and rebuilding our alliances to meet the challenges of the 21st century.”
Monday, Obama had a commentary in the New York Times presenting his plan for Iraq. He said that the recent call by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki for a timetable for the removal of U.S. troops presented an enormous opportunity. “We should seize this moment to begin the phased redeployment of combat troops that I have long advocated, and that is needed for long-term success in Iraq and the security interests of the United States,” Obama wrote.
Meanwhile, the public is evenly split on whether the United States should set a timetable for withdrawing troops. Fifty percent favor of a timetable and 49 percent don’t, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll. Americans also split on which presidential candidate they trust more to handle the war, with 47 percent favoring John McCain and 45 percent Obama.

It’s all in how you ask the question.
“Have you stopped beating your wife lately?
This morning while procrastinating about edging and mowing (I told myself I was waiting for the grass to dry ;-) ), I watched first bush at his press conference and then Obama making this speech.
What a contrast!
We have such a lot to look forward to! A man who can speak eloquently, convey excellent plans in an intelligent way, and represent America in the way she deserves!
Obama is a true leader who will use diplomacy and advance plans for peace to protect ALL Americans including our soldiers.
The world deserves better than what we’ve had for the past seven and half years.
6 months, 8 days, 18 hours, 4 minutes…
linda
Wake up!!
We have a pair of pure politicians to choose from.
A pair who will say just about anything to get elected.
The fact that one of them says it more smoothly than another makes you feel good?
This sucks.
I’m wide awake! Although a nap doesn’t sound like a bad idea.
You think more years like what we’ve had is a good thing?
We each have one vote. I sure won’t use mine for a man whose plan is to continue bush’s foreign and economic policies. We have much to improve and continuing to do what has failed isn’t a plan that works.
I honestly feel good about Obama’s plans. It’s a plus that he is able to speak and conduct himself in a way that makes me feel proud of him and his intelligence.
This democrat joker, Obama, has Zbigniew Brzezinski as one of his top foriegn advisor’s. People with a clue know that this in and of itself is horrifying. But it doesn’t matter, I believe this country has decided it wants third world, serfdom status. And we’ll fight the entire world in order to obtain that goal.
foreign, even.
And no thread about obama’s recent tanking in the polls? After having a fifteen point lead, he’s now statistically tied with mcsame?
Could it be this really is the obama campaign official blog?
Obama sucks and I think he will be gone within 2 years
Write in Ron Paul.
Anyone that actually paid attention to the goals Obama outlined they would see they are basically the same that Bush has been acting on since 9/11.
The bitch is in the details!
Every con-artist knows how to speak well.
Speaking ability is over rated.
Can we BELIEVE what Obama is saying?
Well, NO, because Obama contradicts himself constantly.
Obama’s biggest claim to fame is his work, as a “neighborhood organizer” in removing asbestos from an apartment building.
Those who live in that building?
One lady, active on the project, hs this to say about Obama, “Just because you write something in a book doesn’t make it true” —
Obama takes credit for things he didn’t do.
Obama flip flops on everything he says.
Wars generally start due to miscalculations.
Obama is a very well spoken liar.
That will not keep us out of trouble, in the future, or solve the problems that we have, today.
Come on Franklin!
Don’t you think we’re long over due for an ‘affirmative action’ president?
Let’s give the brother a chance!
“Don’t you think we’re long over due for an ‘affirmative action’ president?”
You mean Bush who got into the Presidency and Yale because of his daddy’s last name?
Putting the quips by the board’s racists aside I wonder if Obama will continue Bush’s policy of selling weapons and spare parts for military equipment to Iran while telling stories of their military threat to America? Probably not.
McCain, on the other hand, still thinks Czechoslovakia is still a country.
Obama has never really accomplished much of anything, in his entire life:
http://www.newsmax.com/kessler/Obama_Inexperience/2008/07/15/112909.html
And, besides his law degree, Obama’s only accomplishments have been political.
He used the courts to kick other Black candidates off the ballot, in his first local race.
He took credit for the work other Black “neighborhood organizers” (political activists) did, on an asbestos clean up project that has not been completed, to this day.
Is this the person we want to have as our Commander in Chief? Someone who has never done much of anything outside of being a political hack?
Obama isn’t even a very experienced attorney. Most of the gang bangers in Chicago have been in a court room more often than Obama.
Maggot
You criticize McCain on international geography?
Obama thinks America has 57 states.
Obama thinks that Arkansas borders Kentucky.
Obama does not seem to know that Illinois DOES border Kentucky.
(Obama said that Hillary would do well in Kentucky, as Kentucky was closer to Arkansas than was Illinois — ???)
Good job Paul. On a thread about foreign policy you labeled American states as foreign nations. Looks like you are as moronic as McCain. Or are you too embarrassed by your bigamist, torture boy McCain that you had to change the issue?
Paul, I checked up on one of your claims and it looks like I’ll have to prove you a liar again. Obama never said Kentucky bordered Arkansas. Here’s the quote:
“What it says is that I’m not very well known in that part of the country,” Obama said. “Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known — not only because of her time in the White House with her husband — but also coming from a nearby state of Arkansas.”
The two states are 55 miles apart. Perhaps if you weren’t so filled with racist hate you might actually look in the facts once in awhile. Oh well, proving you a liar is easier than teaching fish how to swim.
I noticed Rosseel has stopped calling Obama an Arab – perhaps because that particular lie has been proven false.
What’s next – Obama is actually Japanese?
Should we start a pool on what Paul will lie about Obama next in one of his racist tirades?
Listen to Hank, “Obama’s just like Bush.”
Gee, Hank, you think that Obama will give the Taliban 43 million dollars like Bush did four months before 9-11?

That’s the message sent with the recent gift of $43 million to the Taliban rulers of Afghanistan, the most virulent anti-American violators of human rights in the world today. The gift, announced last Thursday by Secretary of State Colin Powell, in addition to other recent aid, makes the United States the main sponsor of the Taliban and rewards that “rogue regime” for declaring that opium growing is against the will of God. So, too, by the Taliban’s estimation, are most human activities, but it’s the ban on drugs that catches this administration’s attention.
Never mind that Osama bin Laden still operates the leading anti-American terror operation from his base in Afghanistan, from which, among other crimes, he launched two bloody attacks on American embassies in Africa in 1998.
Sadly, the Bush Administration is cozying up to the Taliban regime at a time when the United Nations, at US insistence, imposes sanctions on Afghanistan because the Kabul government will not turn over Bin Laden.

This is more evidence, as if we need it, that the Bush administration didn’t care about bin Laden and the jihadis just as Head of Intelligence Richard Clarke claimed.

Taliban’s Ban On Poppy A Success, U.S. Aides Say
By BARBARA CROSSETTE
On Thursday, Secretary of State Colin L. Powell announced a $43 million grant to Afghanistan in additional emergency aid to cope with the effects of a prolonged drought. The United States has become the biggest donor to help Afghanistan in the drought.
Capn., son!
Settle down! Bush isn’t running!
It’s McCain and the messiah! Obama has a halfway decent chance of winning! Maybe, if his poll numbers quit falling! And, if. . .the Clinton machine let’s him survive the convention.
Now, here’s what I want you to do. Take a deep breath. Hell, take another one. Relax. If you have a happy place, go there now.
You’re getting way to upset over this BLOG crap. I worry for your health.
I truly enjoyed your text!!
Let us examine how smart the statement by Obama really is.
“redeployment of combat troops that I have long advocated, and that is needed for long-term success in Iraq”
“redeployment” is the politcally correct way of saying “withdrawal”. When in combat, “withdrawal” means surrender or escape.
“success in Iraq” is really quite a bit of double talk. Richard Nixon would be proud of Obama’s useage (more likely insanely jealous to include demeaning name calling).
There is nothing in “withdrawal” which leads to, or promotes “success”. It is historically useful to remember Chamberlains “Peace in our times” or Richard Nixon’a ” Vietnamization” of another war in our history.
Candy coat it anyway you like. But let’s please be honest. Many Americans do not have the stomach for continuing the Iraq adventure to achievement of success. But be honest about it. Your leaders are not and will not be honest about it.
They WILL declare victory, as we cut our losses and run. Your politicians will use language to hide the truth. They will attempt to save face.
But the bad guys know better.
Mark my words.

I’m still waiting for some definition of what “victory” in Iraq is.
I promise you, Obama will have a definition in hand before he is sworn into office.
Good thing they praise McCain’s virtues instead of bashing Sen. Obama.
Americans are so tired of the politics of destruction and want to discuss policy.
As to Barack Obama, I have no confidence in anything he says.
I have confidence in half of what John Sidney McCain the Third (for Shrub’s 3rd term) says, since he’s flip-flopped on just about every issue there is.
I just don’t know which half.
We won the war in Iraq quickly and with few American lives lost. What has been our failure is the never-ending occupation.
Premise: There cannot be a stable self-sustaining Iraq as long as we are occupying their country.
Maliki wants us out, most Americans want us out. Seems like the time to do what is right – both in our and Iraq’s interests.

Obama has made far more mistakes, told far more lies and made up far more stuff than anyone on this Blog (And that is saying quite a bit)
Yet, you libs excuse Obama’s mistakes, and you shout “liar liar pants on fire” like a bunch of little kids, if anything a conservative says is less than 100% perfectly accurate and documented.

Don’t forget that Obama doesnt know European geography, either.
He claimed that his Father liberated a prison camp that was actually liberated by the Russians!
Yep, Bush is not the best speaker in the world. But obviously Obama was reading from the teleprompter he brings with him because when he is without it, I’ve noticed he stumbles and rambles as much, if not more, than Bush does.
That list of things to do that Obama presented are wonderful and optimistic goals. But, achieving will be very difficult, if not impossible. However, in order to be successful, you do have envision how you want things to turn out. So, at least Obama is sarting out with the right positive attitude and has a vision to strive for.
will larry craig investigate the bush butt pyramid scandal?
Racist Paul, I did get the quote correct so it looks like you lied again. Look at a map of the U.S. Kentucky is close to Arkansas. Did you somehow redraw the map like McCain redrew Europe so Arkansas is near California now?
As usual you prove incompetent as ever. Maybe next time you won’t let your racist rage blind you to the existence of U.S. maps.
Pretty Simple

“I define it for you, but it’s a tough concept for those perpetually on the losing side.”
like you !!!! Arrogant self absorbed loser —
Maggot
I would suggest that you are far more racist than me.
Why?
For starters, I am not a bit racist, I think that everyone should be judged by the same standards, period.
Obama wrote a book about “race and inheritance” and I believe that I have a right and a duty to question the things that Obama brought up, in his book.
You try to censor me with the old, warn out liberal tactic of calling any conserative a “racist” who dares to question a Black politician.
You think it is OK for Obama to take advantage of “White guilt” as he admits, in his book.
What does “White guilt” really mean?
Well, for starters, Obama seems to realize that liberal White people such as you, suffer from the “bigotry of low expectations” —
You, Monkey, do not EXPECT much out of Obama, since Obama is Black.
That makes YOU the racist.
Me?
I expect Obama to be a man of his word and I expect Obama to compete honestly for political power.
I expect as much out of Obama as I would expect out of any candidate.
That makes me fair and unbiased.
You give Obama a pass, which seems largely based on his race.
Maggot
Again, many, many people have repeated this quote, and used it to show that Obama THOUGHT Kentucky was closer to Arkansas than to Illinois.
Kentucky borders Illinois. Kentucky does NOT border Arkansas.
——
““*Explaining last week why he was trailing Hillary Clinton in Kentucky, Obama again botched basic geography: “Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known, coming from a nearby state of Arkansas. So it’s not surprising that she would have an advantage in some of those states in the middle.” On what map is Arkansas closer to Kentucky than Illinois?”
http://michellemalkin.com/2008/05/21/barack-obama-gaffe-machine/
Racist Paul, I wonder who on this forum made comments that Obama isn’t really Black, he’s Arabic and constantly refers to him as Hussein? And I wonder who says Obama is a product of affirmative action and therefore, mentally inferior, that he couldn’t have gone where he is without charity?
Face it Paul, you’re a racist and you aren’t fooling anyone by calling those who label your racist diatribes as racist as being the real racists.
Now maybe you can present that quote where you said Obama claims Arkansas borders Kentucky. Or maybe you’ll just cover your lie with more lies.
BTW, how does Obama’s writing a book make me racist? I still can’t ponder that one. Does Hitler writing Mein Kampf make you a Nazi? Some days you are so utterly stupid that I cannot begin to fathom an understanding of your stupidity.
Hey Cuz Maggot,
Been keeping those incinerators cleaned out? Wouldn’t want you to violate EPA pollution standards from all that burned flesh.
Regular, since when did I possess an incinerator? It must be a Wednesday, fundies were always dumber on Wednesdays but only about as dumb as every other day of the week.
But cuz,
I thought since you were a designated escort at Tiller’s Concentration Death Camp, you and the other SS guards helped out by shoveling the corpses into the incinerator out back.
Maggot
I have provided that quote.
Obama clearly says Hillary is from a “nearby state” but Kentucky is even closer.
LOTS of people have pointed out this Obama gaffe.
Is it your opinion that all of us who think Obama is a “gaffe machine” and that Obama does not know American geography, are “racists”??
Weak maggot, very weak. It is pretty much an admission of defeat to call your opponent a “racist” at the drop of a hat. It is a term used, most frequently, by the intellectually inferior side of an argument.
Also, as stated previously, Obama wrote a book. Obama told us, on the cover of that book, that the book was about “Race and Inheritance”!
Obama’s new preface, to that book, admits that his autobiography is NOT 100% factual.
Obama says he wants a “conversation” about race?
This sounds more like DICTATION, as Obama seems to be the only person who is allowed to speak on the subject.
Obama has very strong Arab sympathies. Is this due to the large number of Palestinians in Chicago? Is this due to the Rev. Wright, who is very sympathetic to terrorists and very harsh towards Israel?
Obama has very strong Moslem sympathies. Is this due to the Nation of Islam cult, with its headquarters in Chicago?
Or, is any of this bias that Obama has shown towards Arabs and Moslems based on “race and inheritance”???
We have a right to know, and it is not racist to ask.
Regular, perhaps you ought to stop smoking old gym socks and tires then you won’t have such hallucinations.
No Paul, I provided the quote and I proved that you utterly lied but you are so mentally incompetent you still can’t realize it. What came first, your ignorance or your racism?
Now why shouldn’t Obama by sympathetic to other Chicagoans? Should he have searched out anyone in the city with Arabic descent and had them purged as if they were some Moors in Christian Spain? Heck, why should I bother even asking such an open racist, of course you wouldn’t mind.
There you have it!
Nearly every news outlet said at least something about Obama’s geography gaffes.
Maggot thinks that EVERYONE who brings up Obama’s geography problems is racist or ignorant or both.
Oh right Paul, that’s all you’ve ever said about Obama was some geography quotes. Do you think all people are as stupid as yourself? How many more times do you plan on lying today?
I have not lied Maggot, not even once.
You called me a liar.
Your insults did not hold up.
You lost.
“I have not lied Maggot, not even once.
You called me a liar.
Your insults did not hold up.
You lost.”
There is only one truthful thing you said there, the other three were lies. You claimed Obama said Kentucky bordered Arkansas, you presented a quote which didn’t say that. That would make you a liar. And since you failed to grasp that connection that would make you an idiot. But as usual you are too moronic to grasp these simple facts so you will continue to lie and you will continue to make yourself look foolish. Here’s a challenge, find someone who actually believes you are accurate and honest.
Maggot
Try logic.
Obama said that Arkansas was CLOSER to Kentucky than his own state, Illinois.
How is that possible?
How are most of the things Obama says possible?
You are far to quick to call other people “liars” as your candidate makes far more gaffes, mistakes and false statements than any Presidential candidate in history.
Maggot
How could the term “closer” be accurate, if HIS state BORDERS Kentucky?
The only way for Arkansas to be “CLOSER” than Illinois would be for BOTH to border, and for Arkansas to share a longer border with Illinois.
The truth is that Arkansas BORDERS Illinois and Arkansas does NOT border Illinois.
Logic Maggot. Try it.
I think the seminal point was that Arkansas is geographically and culturally more akin to Kentucky than Illinois.
I forget the exact quote, since I have a life.
Paul, present to me the statement where he said Arkansas borders Kentucky as you claimed. Here’s a reminder what you said,
“Obama thinks that Arkansas borders Kentucky.”
If you can prove yourself by presenting the quote where he claimed this then you aren’t a liar. Until then….
Sorry, on phone
the TRUTH is Arkansas DOES NOT BORDER Illinois and Kentucky DOES border Illinois
Franklin

“Obama thinks that Arkansas borders Kentucky.”
I’m not arguing what is actual fact I’m arguing what you claimed. Can you provide the quote where Obama claimed Arkansas borders Kentucky? Repeating your lie over and over again doesn’t make it true. A simple Google search should turn up the actual quote unless you are lying. Why the delay?

It is Obama that SAID that Geography gave Hillary an advantage.
How can that be, when Obama’s state borders Kentucky, and Hillary’s state does NOT border Kentucky?
So Paul, are you going to provide the quote where Obama claimed Arkansas borders Kentucky?
“How can that be, when Obama’s state borders Kentucky, and Hillary’s state does NOT border Kentucky?”
Simple Paul. Arkansas is very similar in culture and demographics to Kentucky. Illinois – especially northern IL – is not.
Perhaps had you ever lived in any of those states you would know that.

1) Arkansas is quite close to Kentucky, even though they do not border on one another. My wife and I just took a vacation in the region to visit our childhood homes.
2) There is one hell of a lot of cultural difference between the southern tip of Illinois and the northern half of the state (the tip is southern rural, the north is great lakes Chicagoland). Between Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, the tip of Illinois, and southern Missouri, not so much.
This is reality. Not that Malkin, one of the worst of the right wing shills, would ever be concerned about that.
“Perhaps had you ever lived in any of those states you would know that.”
No effing kidding, Ben. But then again, reality is unimportant to Franklin, bullsh*tter extraordinaire.
Thanks libs.
I was trying to say that Obama, the elitist radical Chicago dirty politician, has very little in common with ordinary Americans.
You, as usual, did my work for me.
Hey! Paul the Con, what is the EXACT percentage of Arab heritage that Obama has – 43% – 45%?
Is it EXACTLY 44% or is there some wiggle room?
Or are you just full of skit as usual?

[FE]Oh snap![/FE]
Like I said, a bullsh*tter through and through. Use anything, say anything.
Does someone really pay you to do this crap, Franklin?
