The U.S. economy lost more than 60,000 jobs last month, mostly from manufacturing and construction companies. It was the sixth consecutive month the economy has shed jobs, for a total of about 438,000 jobs since the first of the year.

…and the stock market is officially in bear territory.
Where is golfnuts to tell us how great things are?
When we said we were headed toward trouble, he just dismissed it as a blip.
Some blip.
And didnt germie say the other day the economy was doing just fine?
In what alternate universe?
…and where is paulie the shillie to blame it all on the eeeevil democrats?
..and of course where’s Reguliar to chime in about how it happens every year and the cause is seasonal student employment?
..and of course where’s Reguliar to chime in about how it happens every year and the cause is seasonal student employment?
As long as the Zionists, neocons and PNACers keep threatening to attack Iran, which will cut-off the flow of Crude oil from the middle east, the speculative price of crude oil will continue to drive the American economy into the dirt.
But what the hell do they care, they’ve already sucked-off their billions, and plan to rule the world.
Since Bush was appointed to office the value of the dollar has decreased 43%.
Note how the wingnuts have stopped talking about record receipts. Those receipts were from capital gains; the deficit is set to explode with capital losses. Tell me again how tax cuts stimulate the economy.
All the figures are before adjustments which are always made a little later. The economy is in as bad a shape as we’ve known for quite some time!
And yet, from the article used in the thread header, “…the White House released a statement arguing that even if employment is declining, the economy has managed to continue expanding — albeit at an anemic rate. Gross Domestic Product between April and June was 0.2 percent.
“We are no doubt in a period of slow growth, it is growth nonetheless but it’s very slow and it’s had an impact on employment,” said White House spokeswoman Dana Perino.”
Do you think the adjustments can be made after this bunch of wackos have left the White House? Can they continue to ignore reality that long? What we can count on is the economic mess will be the fault of someone else, not bushco. I’ll bet it’s Clinton’s fault (again!).
Bush has sold-out to the Zionists of Israel. The discussions about using nukes to attack Iran happen daily in their newspapers.
It’s non secret.
Bush does not represent the United States of its people.
Bush does not represent the United States or its people.
Osama bin Ladin still has his job.
Do you?
“Since Bush was appointed to office the value of the dollar has decreased 43%.”
Isn’t that about much the National Debt has increased under his brilliant stewardship? Coincidence??
Max will chime in with the great “ownership society”.
I used to think America was strong enough economically to survive bush’s regime, today I’m not so sure.
Has any president in history achieved a 700 percent increase in the price of crude during his presidency, since crude was discovered? To top it off, there isn’t even a real shortage.
Show me an 8 year period, in our nations history, that NEVER had an economic slow down and that NEVER had a stock market correction?
The tech “dot.com” bubble burst after President Clinton took Microsoft to court. I remember that time very well.
Presidents have very, very little to do with the Economy.
Most of the laws and regulations that Congress AND the President have to deal with were written by a previous Congress and signed by a previous President.
Presidents can screw things up, that is true. However, this President has done exactly the right thing, in the area of taxes and growth oriented policy.
Do you socialists, on this blog, really believe that a tax increase would improve the economy?
When have tax increases EVER increased the value of any stock?
The value of stock is nothing more than a current prediction of future profits.
Taxes reduce profits, therefore, increases in tax rates will tend to reduce stock prices.
By the way, the MAJOR things harming the economy, right now, are the bad mortgages out there, still being dealt with, and higher gasoline prices.
Democrat politicians had a very large role in crafting mortgage and real estate law. That has always been true. It would be very difficult to make the mortgage issue a partisan issue that would work against Republicans. Far too many Democrats are caught up in sweet heart mortgage deals. Obama has some shady mortgage broker and shady real estate friends. Same with Hillary, same with many Democrat members of Congress. Bill Clinton signed the repeal of “Glass-Steagle” — another issue that lead to the current mess.
On gas prices?
Drill HERE!
Drill NOW!
Energy companies pay taxes, which will bring down the deficit.
Energy companies employ people, which will bring down unemployment.
It is the Democrat Party that stands in the way of domestic oil production.
It is the Democrat Party that stands in the way of domestic coal production and use. Lower energy costs would be a wonderful thing for our ecomomy, and more supply would lower costs.
What, exactly, are the economic “changes” that the Democrat Congress has proposed, over the last 2 years, to bring down the price of gasoline?
Nancy Pelosi PROMISED that a Democrat Congress would work towards lower gasoline prices.
2 years later — and the Democrats have not even sponsored any legislation that would be the least bit helpful, to address that issue.
Where is Pelosi’s proposal for lower gasoline prices?
You liberals are just being partisan.
Nothing, absolutely nothing that Democrat politicians are talking about will do anything at all to help us, in our present situation.
Actually, even if someone comes up with a good idea, it will be enacted too late to matter.
Political reactions to the business cycle buy votes, but they don’t do much for the general economy. It is not possible for politicans to react quickly enough to do much good.
The economy will correct itself, and be well on its way to better times, long before anything any Congress can enact and any President can sign, can be put into effect.
Gas prices hit new high four days in a row for your Fourth of July driving pleasure. Meanwhile many cities are cutting out their Fourth fireworks due to budget constraints. All courtesty of WPE.

Liberals won’t let us drill in ANWR.
Liberals won’t let us use coal.
Liberals fight production of new energy, at every turn.
Supply and Demand is accepted economic law.
Price is directly related to supply.
The Democrats have restricted supply.
The Democrats, therefore, are responsible for the high cost of energy!
The only thing following demand is supply, keeping the price part of the equation constant or slightly increasing. We consume 10 bil. miles less gas in a prior month, that much fuel is kept off the market.
Can’t stone age the way outta this one paulie.
The chickens have come home to roost on 25 years of con policy.
We’ll be innovating our way out of this. And you Republicans can sit on the sideline and watch.
Or you could leave. That would be even better.
Stone age? LOL
We have used wind power since nearly the very beginning of Human existance.
Sails on sailboats use wind power.
Windmills have been around for some time now, far longer than fossil fuels.
We have used solar power to heat things for a very long time.
Yes, techology will help us use solar and wind in more efficient and productive ways.
Technology will also help us use carbon based fuels, like gasoline and coal, in more efficient ways.
You can not find a SINGLE expert, with any credentials whatsoever, that really believes that we will not be using coal and oil in 50 years, as a major energy source.
I am actually glad that you liberals are such fools on the energy issue.
This issue will be your downfall, eventually.
Conservatives are winning in England.
Conservatives are winning in France.
Those countries have had to suffer under goofy green policy for too long now, and the rebellion against you kooks has finally come.
When the public has enough of your pie-in-the-sky expensive and anti-capitalist policy, you green kooks will be kicked out of policy making positions in the United States, as well.
Yes, that might take some time.
I am confident that you and your friends will screw things up bad enough that we can use it all against you, eventually!
Man, I remember talking about this stuff on here mid last year…I was Mr. Tin-Foil Hat Guy. This country is headed straight down if folks don’t wake up. THERE IS ZERO, NADA, ZIP DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO PARTIES!!!!!!!!!! Obama, McCain are owned by the same people. Once again, are you buying gold, ammo and food? Or are you just waxing your stupid car to look good at stoplights? 1929 is going to seem like child’s play when the sh.it goes South for real here. DO YOU UNDERSTAND??? In 1929, we were 80% agrarian, now we’re just a bunch of smart-assed retards that can’t grow a damned thing. $5.00 gas??? gimme a break…how about crazy, hungry, dumb ass criminals robbing you for something to eat? And the sad part is…this is all being engineered. This is planned to get us into a God-Damned NAU. Call me tin-foil head, whatever, but I ain’t about to feel sorry for those who are too smart right now. Pearls Before Swine.
Pigs.
I used to get all mad about you all fighting between “liberal” and “con”. Now it’s just stuupudd and sad. We are being f$#ked by the same people. Let it sink in.
Today I spent time with a family who’s father was a missionary and a street minister who is now very physically disabled, the wife works her butt off at a job she hates and can’t make enough money to put food on the table AND pay rent, and they have two sons…really good people who now are reduced to contacting charities so they can pay the rent this month and keep a roof over their heads. Hey, but at least we haven’t been attacked by terrorists since 9/11!
Freedom means you have nothing less to lose. Bush has been spreading as much freedom as possible. Feel sorry for the CEOs and corrupt politicians who have been sacrificing their freedom by taking away so much wealth from the poor and middle class.
Franklin,
While there are slow downs every few years in the economy, this one is way different. The only time this has happened to the extent it is today was during the great depression. This is more than a recession: it is a depression. Savings are in the negative for the first time since the depression, with people living off credit.
If you want to blame liberals, go ahead. But it is not a republican/democrat thing going on here. It is way more complicated than that. But I doubt you have the capacity to understand that so I wont waste my time trying to explain it to you. Keep believing your convoluted version, though. I suppose somebody has to blame politicians for it; how else could you keep your moronic sanity?
“Hey, but at least we haven’t been attacked by terrorists since 9/11!”
And for the most part, we’re still safe from gay marriage.
And generalissimo franco is still dead…
. . . And generalissimo franco is still dead…

O man, there goes my day!
Conservatives are NOT winning here paulie.
They won’t be winning here again for some time. You might want to look into relocating?
America has never (until recently) been about stodgy conformism and dogma. There are a lot of people with a lot of money invested in holding us back.
They will lose. YOU will lose.
The only people who have ever been 100% correct on these blogs are the ones who understand that their is no difference between Democrats and Republicans.
All of you people on here arguing about cons or libs need to let it sink in. You are beginning to look like you really know what were saying is true, but you need to get off by arguing with someone from a different party.
You are all in for a rude awakening if you continue to show loyalty to those who don’t give a ratsass about you. There is no difference between the two parties that run this country.
If you don’t settle your differences and come together as Americans, you will lose the country that your fathers conquered.
JM
I just got through saying, for the ten thousanth time on this blog, that Presidents have virtually nothing to do with the economy.
Do you really think that I deserved a lecture on partisanship?
Yes, the Democrats have absolutely been opposed to the production of viable energy sources, sources that could pay taxes and sources that did not need a government subsidy. (Like coal and oil)
However, even there, it is Congress that is to blame for much of our stupid policy.

How can anyone claim that things are so horrible, economically speaking?
That is absurd.
We have an economic slowdown, not even a real recession, at least not yet.
This is after one of the longest periods of job creation in history.
Calm down.
The sky is not falling.

BJ,
It is not the job of government to settle scores or sooth your damaged ego.
No matter who is elected, 5 years from now I will still be happy and you will still be miserable.
You expect too much from government.
You expect far to little from yourself.

Mary are you saying that this type of stuff did not happen before Bush and will not happen after Bush under Democrats? What are you trying to say?
