Rep. Jerry Moran, R-Hays, is quietly raising money to run for the U.S. Senate in 2010, according to the Hays Daily News. Moran told select Republicans last month, in a letter obtained by the newspaper: “While I am running for re-election to the House this fall, I intend to run for the U.S. Senate in 2010.” That would make Moran the first candidate to raise his hand to replace Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., who has long planned not to run for another term. Moran would be a strong candidate. But after more than a decade with no turnover, there also has to be pent-up demand for Kansas’ Senate seats.

Jerry Moran is a friendly person from out around Hays, Kansas. I believe he graduated from K.U. possibly with a law degree. For at least 14 years or so, he has been representing the largest in area of our five Kansas congressional districts. I should google his biography.
He is the go-to Kansas congressman on agricultural issues. Not an exciting speaker but he has been a steady performing politician for middle of the road Kansans. Unfortunately I believe he has been a proponent of ethanol production which makes me wonder if has missed all the anti-ethanol information available.
But in absence of better candidates to replace Senator Sam Brownback, who can’t leave quick enough, I will consider voting for Mr. Moran for U.S. Senator in 2010.
Jerry Moran will easily defeat Sebelius or any other Dem. who runs against him. He transends the usual partisan politics and is equally well thought of in Moderate and Conservative camps. Even better, we will get Tim Heulskamp as 1st district Congressman. A real conservative who may be hated by the media and elites in eastern Kansas, but is loved out West. Then for the trifecta, Sam Brownback should run for Governor. He would mop the floor with Parkinson and restore some honor and dignity to Cedar Crest.
……….more wet dreams from nazichrisfrommacblahblahblah.
Did you clean up after yourself?
You can dream this dream every night after Obama takes the oath of office on 01/20/09 too. Your wife will be happy to not have to deal with you.
“A real conservative who may be hated by the media and elites”
Everything I read in the MSM about Moran has been positive. Chris – I think your hate complex is all in your head.
I agree that Moran would likely be an easy winner for senate. It seems that the “Big First” has cultivated many good solid candidates over the years.
He seems not to be the partisan hack we have here in the 4th with Tiahrt. But 2010 seems a long ways off so for now I think I’ll pay more attention to contests closer to fruition.
Just think! If we could actually UNelect Roberts we might eventually get to the point where we have representation capable of thinking, capable of being for Kansans and Americans vs. protecting buch!
Potomic Fever
Regardless of party something seems to happen to many Congresspersons when they spend too much time inside the beltway. Glickman, for example, became estranged from the district. The same thing happened to my old Congressman from IL Dennis Hastert. IMO this has happened to both Tiahrt and Roberts.
I don’t really know Moran but at least so far he doesn’t seem to have become infected with the fever.
Jerry isn’t capable of producing the original thinking we need in order to solve problems in the future. He is in every way ordinary, except being a bit taller than average. Which means he’s a shoo-in for the Senate.
Lest we forget (and I’m sure most of you have):
Moran, as Kansas Senate Majority Leader, told an audience in Wichita he wasn’t in favor of spending more money here crime-related issues.
As the smart William Cowper quote – “O solitude, where are the charms That sages have seen in thy face? Better dwell in the midst of alarms, Than reign in this horrible place.”!
Everything I read in the MSM about Moran has been positive. Chris – I think your hate complex is all in your head.
You need to reread my post Ben. I was referring to Tim Heulskamp, not Jerry Moran.

Sounds like you are the one thats dreaming. The number one thing that McCains got going for him is the millions of closet racist democrats in key electoral states who in the privacy of the voting booth will never pull the lever for Obama. Oh well, that way on the morning after election day when Obama has lost even though the phony polls heading into the election showed him ahead, you can all scream that the republicans stole the election again.
Sorry about the misread Chris. That said, I think Obama will soundly defeat Sidney.
Moron is a RINO.
….more wet dreams chrissyboy?
We’ll see how it works out!
“Sam Brownback should run for Governor. He would mop the floor with Parkinson and restore some honor and dignity to Cedar Crest.”
…. and set Kansas back another 10 years, and continue to make Kansas a refuge for the likes of Phelps —– think Kansas gets no respect from the rest of the country now? —- put Brownback in charge and people will drive around Kansas not through it ….
I will not be voting for Jerry Moran. He doesn’t have the interest of Kansas in mind. There is better individuals that can represent Kansas.
