“Sen. Obama wants every American to have a home. I want every American to have a home like that.”
— John McCain joking about the sprawling mansion of one of his supporters, Pennsylvania real estate developer Mitchell Morgan, who hosted a fundraiser for McCain this week

Gee and what did that use to be refer to? Oh yeah, “the American dream” white picket fence, single level home on a nice street and the like.
And McCNt mocks Obama for wanting Americans to succeed? This is the man some of you want for our next leader?
McCNt. Are all the libs on this blog as classless as Political Mama?
If calling Cindy McShame the same name as her husband calls her is classless…what does that make him?
The elite McShames are so far removed from the average American with Cindy’s average credit card bill of half a million a month and their daughter’s $50,000 a month bill.
Gee…the McShames are just your typical average American family.
NOT!
“McCNt. Are all the libs on this blog as classless as Political Mama?”
And of course, this comment is just the epitome of class.

“…is just the epitome of class.”
Unfortunately, that class is the 3rd Grade.
Let then eat cake …
From the link…
“In an air-conditioned tent on the lawn of a Main Line estate tonight, Sen. John McCain told the crowd that he has a simple dream: Every citizen will one day own the kind of sprawling mansion that hosts Republican fundraisers.
Joking that he was speaking outside a “modest tract home” of Pennsylvania real estate developer Mitchell L. Morgan and his wife Hilarie, McCain marveled at the giant mixed Classic behind him. The house boasted six garages, an elaborate pool with fountains, and extensive, manicured grounds.
“This is one of the differences between me and Senator Obama,” McCain said. “Senator Obama wants every American to have a home. I want every American to have a home like that.” The crowd laughed.”
Har dee HAR HAR Senator McCain.
I don’t WANT a home like that. I don’t know anyone who does.
That McCain makes a crack like this when our country has a real problem with homelessness and people losing their homes shows that he has a deeply embedded sense of cruelty in him.
Like when he spoke of those 40 dollar an hour lettuce picking jobs?
Shelter in this country should be a basic right.
“BlueJay” cites –
“In an air-conditioned tent on the lawn of a Main Line estate tonight, Sen. John McCain… marveled at the giant mixed Classic behind him. The house boasted six garages, an elaborate pool with fountains, and extensive, manicured grounds….”
Good catch, “BlueJay” –
Did you see this?
“John McCain is an all-American regular guy who, like most people, earns his keep by marrying an heiress. Like average, everyday folks the McCain’s rely on credit cards to make ends meet month-to-month “Cindy McCain charged as much as $500,000 in a single month on one American Express card and $250,000 on another, while one of their two dependent children had an AmEx card with a monthly balance as large as $50,000.” Yes it’s true, one of McCain’s dependent children spent approximately the median annual household income of the United States in a single month and that’s how McCain knows how to connect with regular people.
Similarly, Mrs. McCain “favors suits made by the German designer Escada, which typically retail for around $3,000 a pop” so she understands that most Americans welcome Wal-Mart’s discount prices. And like many Americans, the McCains are very effected by developments in the real estate market, since “trusts and corporations controlled by her and her children spent nearly $11 million between the summer of 2004 and February 2008 on three condominiums in Phoenix and a pair outside San Diego.” The McCains understand that these days many young people graduate from college saddled with debt and need a helping hand, that’s why they spent “$700,000 for a 1,900-square foot, three-bedroom loft condo for her then-22-year-old daughter Meghan McCain” after she graduated from Columbia. Similarly, they know all about problems with inflation since they “increased their budget for household employees from $184,000 in 2006 to $273,000 in 2007, according to John McCain’s tax returns.”
But it’s Obama who’s the “elitist.”
McCain’s sense of humor is as impaired as his policies.
bomb, bomb, bomb Iran
Said McCain, chuckling, “And I stopped beating my wife just a couple of weeks ago.”
His is a totally twisted sense of humor. Should tell most people more than they need to know! These are topics he finds funny and uses to attempt to make some point? Totally tasteless!
What about the sweetheart deal Obama got on HIS house?
http://www.redstate.com/stories/elections/2008/obamas_countrywide_like_sweetheart_mortgage_deal
Countrywide has given many Democrats sweetheart deals, on their huge mortgages.
The Clintons home, in New York, is paid for with taxpayer dollars. The Clintons charge the secret service “rent” which pays for the Clinton’s huge mortgage.
At least the McCains, and their contributors listed so far, in this thread, EARNED their homes and paid for them, the same as everyone else!
Public housing has been a failure.
When the government “gives” people a place to live, for “free” those “projects” have always become drug, gang and crime infested hell-holes.
People do not take care of things that they did not have to work for, themselves.
Ya know?
If McCain grew a mustache and got himself a top hat?
He’d look a lot like the Monopoly guy.
Tens of thousands of Vietnam veterans are homeless.
And McCain thinks joking about housing is funny.
Sick.
Will McCain bring back the bush ‘ownership society’. Can’t wait.
Attacking Cindy McCain? Oh puhleeze. Consider, while Mrs. Obama contributes to CARE, Mrs. McCain is on the board of directors of CARE. Mrs. McCain is wealthy, yes, and has used that wealth to do things like establish Family Foundation to support children’s causes; she has been active (personally and financially) in Halo Trust, and organization removing land mines and providing food/water/care in war torn countries. She was once a special needs teacher, has a son serving in Iraq and is an experienced and successful business woman.
Attack her? Some people are really desparate.
McCain’s comments have that “haves and have mores” feeling to them.
What did y’all expect? These people don’t know what being a commoner means. They’ve only seen poverty from inside a tinted window limousine.
You actually expect them to care?
At least Obama is self made and so is his wife. McCain’s father was an Admiral and his wife is an heiress…they have no idea what it’s like to get where you are by your own blood, sweat, and tears.
Many are drowning out here in the real world and his solution is an $0.18 per gallon gas tax break for a few months…that’s the kind of life line he has to offer? I know people who are on the brink of disaster and he’s throwing them back with the “have’s and have mores” and joking about giving us mansions. Yeah, I’m laughing real hard. Sounds like if we want more of the same BS we’ve enndured the last 8 yrs, then he’s our man.
Oh lighten up..can’t someone even tell a joke without people jumping on the attack wagon?
Oh…wait a minute…seems like most people don’t even need a reason to attack. Minds made up, permanently closed and will never consider any option. Sounds like an adult way to look at politics to me. (not)
I agree calling someone a CNT is classless. However, when I’m pointing out the fact that he called his wife that in anger, you attack ME?
Hypocricy at its finest right there.

Perhaps PMom, the RUMOR is worth bringing up once, but to repeatedly use the vulgarity indicates a mind susceptible to trailer trash humor and a person unworthy to hold discussions with.
It’s vulgar and the moment you or anyone else brings it up, it literally destroys any point they are trying to make and makes their post a scroll over – perhaps future posts as well.
And just what has Obama done for all the $$$ he has gotten as a Community Organizer? And is Chicago any better than before he came. Probably not, and the community organizer job title is one that I can’t find in our corp jobs books.
“And just what has Obama done for all the $$$ he has gotten as a Community Organizer?”
Obama got all his “$$$” as an author, not as a community organizer.
“And is Chicago any better than before he came.”
Yes.
WS
Check your facts, would you please?
Chicago is going through one of the worst periods of gang violence in its history, right now!
If Obama wanted to do something about gang violence, Obama would attack the hip-hop “Don’t Snitch” culture, and tell people, bluntly, to call the police with tips on the murderers.
“Check your facts, would you please?”
I checked my facts and Obama is not an Arab.
“Chicago is going through one of the worst periods of gang violence in its history, right now!”
And “right now!” Barack Obama is a US Senator! And before that! Barack Obama was Illinois! State representative! How long! has it been since! Barack! Obama! was a community! organizer!?!?
Christ.
Obama’s (cough) leadership role in Chicago housing appears to be a total failure, while making his crooked associates like Rezco richer from taxpayer subsidies. This story from the Boston Globe.
Grim proving ground for Obama’s housing policy
Boston Globe
Grove Parc has become a symbol for some in Chicago of the broader failures of giving public subsidies to private companies to build and manage affordable housing – an approach strongly backed by Obama as the best replacement for public housing.
As a state senator, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee coauthored an Illinois law creating a new pool of tax credits for developers. As a US senator, he pressed for increased federal subsidies. And as a presidential candidate, he has campaigned on a promise to create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund that could give developers an estimated $500 million a year.
But a Globe review found that thousands of apartments across Chicago that had been built with local, state, and federal subsidies – including several hundred in Obama’s former district – deteriorated so completely that they were no longer habitable.
Grove Parc and several other prominent failures were developed and managed by Obama’s close friends and political supporters. Those people profited from the subsidies even as many of Obama’s constituents suffered. Tenants lost their homes; surrounding neighborhoods were blighted.
Some of the residents of Grove Parc say they are angry that Obama did not notice their plight. The development straddles the boundary of Obama’s state Senate district. Many of the tenants have been his constituents for more than a decade.

Wasn’t Laura given or (took) the task of dealing with gang problems? Seems I read something about that a couple yrs. ago.
there’s the explanation, put a bush in charge, and things can only get worse!
http://www.jointogether.org/news/headlines/inthenews/2005/laura-bush-tackles-gang-issue.html
If you are talking about Laura Bush Phantom, the only programs that have been heavily published are her involvement in help funding and promoting health issues in conjunction with the World AIDS Society and children’s literacy program to a certain extent.
Apparently you didn’t follow my link?
I read it Phantom, it said nothing about an executive managing role for Mrs. Bush. It just mentioned that she would be promoting the program.
This is the giving a celebrity name to a program, nothing else.
There is no ‘there there.’
Kind of like that successful “Just San No to drugs”.

Kind of like that successful “Just San No to drugs”.
—————————-
Evidently it wasn’t too successful, as I never heard the phrase “San No to drugs.”
Of course, the “N” and the “Y” are real close together (cough) on the QWERTY keyboard.
Anothe link and exerpt for you:
“After plummeting during the 1990s, gang violence is making a bloody comeback all across America, with gang-related homicides up 50 percent since 1999. According to Justice Department estimates, there are about 21,500 gangs nationwide with over 730,000 members. And these gangs are no longer confined to Los Angeles and New York. Cities like Denver, Portland, Salt Lake City, and Tulsa have all seen dramatic surges in gang-related criminal activity.
And how has our tough-on-security president responded? By proposing to cut close to a billion dollars from programs designed to help anti-gang efforts. His 2006 budget would cut more than $412 million from education, after-school, and family-support programs that help keep at-risk kids away from gangs.
It would eliminate Juvenile Accountability Block Grants ($54 million worth) designed to help prosecutors deal with gang issues. It would also reduce funding for the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) program by 95 percent, which could result in as many as 88,000 fewer police officers patrolling America’s mean streets. And these proposed cuts come on top of a 44 percent reduction in delinquency-fighting and anti-gang funding since 2002.
“The federal budget is more than mere numbers, it is an accounting of our country’s priorities,” says Seattle Chief of Police Gil Kerlikowske, chairman of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, a bipartisan anti-crime organization of over 2,000 police chiefs, sheriffs, prosecutors, and crime victims. “The president’s budget just doesn’t add up for children and instead makes the wrong choices on crime prevention.”
But wait, could this possibly be the same president who during his State of the Union address so preeningly patted himself on the back for his commitment to dealing with gang violence?
Of course. It’s the kind of political sleight of hand his presidency is built on. First, Bush earned PR points for earmarking $50 million a year for the next three years to a new, still-to-be-defined anti-gang initiative, then turned around and submitted a budget that cuts nearly 20 times that much from programs already proven effective in keeping young people out of gangs. Not exactly a fair trade-off for America’s at-risk kids.
Oh, and here’s the kicker: the new initiative is to be overseen by First Lady Laura Bush. I don’t know about you but the idea of Laura the Librarian bringing the Crips, the Bloods, and MS-13 to their knees doesn’t exactly make me feel any safer.
The First Lady’s new role as gang czar seems like another Mission to Mars in the making—a highly touted project long on potential photo ops and woefully short on specifics. Here’s what we do know about Mrs. Bush’s feel-good initiative: the program won’t be administered through the law enforcement professionals at the Justice Department. Instead, the limited dollars will be funneled through the president’s compassion fund and doled out to his favored faith-based groups. Who knows, maybe they?ll serve up the gang prevention entree with a side order of moral values. I can hear the ad campaign now: “Just Say No… To Drive-Bys and Turf Wars. And Premarital Sex, While You’re At It.”

The Helping America’s Youth initiative is a way to help American young people grow up to be healthy and successful. And I’d like for you to be part of our work.

A far cry from being a ‘gang czar.’
But since you like tinfoil hat articles so much phantom, please carry on. I’m sure others will ignore your arm flailing chimpanzee-like screams.
Sounds more like a presidential appointment, than lending celebrity status:
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/white_house/jan-june05/lbush_02-10.html
He made the appointment public in his SOTU.
It’s an alternative program for boys to participate in, instead of gangs.
But do carry on with your tinfoil conspiracies Phantom.
Perhaps you’ll actually make a point.
Perhaps you’ll understand the program was meant to do good and help people out of a desperate situation.
Or did you really not have any compassion for the troubled boys in gang neighborhoods with no other alternatives.
Yeah, that must be it, Phantom doesn’t care, he just wants to make a political point that has no point.
More of empty rhetoric from Phantom.
SOTU :Because one of the deepest values of our country is compassion, we must never turn away from any citizen who feels isolated from the opportunities of America. Our government will continue to support faith-based and community groups that bring hope to harsh places. Now we need to focus on giving young people, especially young men in our cities, better options than apathy, or gangs, or jail. Tonight I propose a three-year initiative to help organizations keep young people out of gangs, and show young men an ideal of manhood that respects women and rejects violence. (Applause.) Taking on gang life will be one part of a broader outreach to at-risk youth, which involves parents and pastors, coaches and community leaders, in programs ranging from literacy to sports. And I am proud that the leader of this nationwide effort will be our First Lady, Laura Bush. (Applause.)
catch the part about a three yr. iniative, and guess who the leader of this initiative is?
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/02/20050202-11.html
Game, Point, Set. Bring on Premium, Regular is just too easy.
Nope, as usual, the Phantom cannot read and tries to equate Laura Bush as some sort of gang Czar.
It’s an alternative program for youth to participate in, instead of gangs. Laura Bush is not dealing with gangs.
Taking on gang life will be one part of a broader outreach to at-risk youth, which involves parents and pastors, coaches and community leaders, in programs ranging from literacy to sports.
The only game, set and match you’ve won Phantom is the pocket pool in your pants.
Indeed crime rates are falling.
Gang Crime news is used by the Leftists as a scare tactic to encourage more Government Police Control and Gun Bans.
http://www.usnews.com/articles/news/national/2008/06/11/crime-rates-shown-to-be-falling.html
But the release this week of preliminary crime statistics for last year shows a 1.4 percent drop in violent crime and a 2.1 percent decline in property crime rates. The minor upticks in crime during 2005 and 2006 (2.3 percent and 1.9 percent, respectively, for violent crime) appear to be no more than minor fluctuations from the historic low crime rate reached in 2000.
