It was a fair guess that Gov. Kathleen Sebelius’ fight against a coal-fired plant expansion near Holcomb would not play well in western Kansans. A recent SurveyUSA poll left no doubt. In the poll, taken in mid-May just as she’d vetoed a third bill to allow the plants, her approval rating out west was 41 percent — a stunning 22 points lower than the month before, and similarly off her statewide approval rating last month of 62 percent. Maybe she should send flowers. Or jobs.

Tell us what is Melvin Neufeld’s popularity rating among his fellow Statehouse Repubs, or even among his constituents.
She’s losing fans everywhere as people see there is not much substance in her head outside the party line.

“Dance poodle dance!”
The one line moron again, with nothing to offer, as usual.
Happy Father’s Day to you too!
If you had looked at the poll instead of spouting off stupidly, you would see that she has great support among both parties including religious conservatives (51 – 57 %).
Kathy has made some bad moves for me it started with her comments on the Greensburg tornado. It was all down hill after that with her global warming and carbon beliefs. We have been and will still continnue to get electricity from the so called dirty coal plants we have now. To deny a chance for the new and improved coal plant on a hypothetical view it might increase greenhouses gase and that little old Kansas might make a difference in changing the world is BS. Western Kansas missed out on a much needed investments in future energy and more jobs, I think they have a right to be unhappy with Kathy and Rod.
KansasNative,
Happy Fathers Day to you too, sincerely, and hope you spend it enjoying your family and not mindlessly attacking me. I’m not worth it, ha. There you go.
Your comment about Sebelius may have been true, but she is losing favor rapidly among lots of people as they discover more about her, or actually that there is not much to discover, never was.
How about “sending” us some water? The jobs dont mean a damn thing without water. No one will live here with no water, much less work here.
Oh yeah, I forgot. There’s a finite supply of water and you really cant “send” any here.
The only thing to do is CONSERVE water and not, pardon the pun, piss it away on ethanol plants, coal fired plants, and big irrigation.
And what has governor “leadership” done to recognize and work on the problem of our water supply?
She greased the wheels for Hays and Russell to drain Cedar Bluff AND the Smoky Hills River for their… wait for it… ethanol plant and golf courses.
I mean, we wouldnt want the poor, poor Hays folks to have to play golf on buffalo grass, now would we? They NEED irrigated fairways with cool weather (read water sucking) grass that is irrigated with… wait for it… DRINKING water, not recycled effluent.
Yeah. And all the recreational users of Cedar Bluff can go suck an egg as far as governor “leadership” cares.
Why is one form of recreation more valuable than another? And WHICH form creates more jobs? The golf pro shop… or the hundreds of businesses that make a significant portion of their living from sportsmen and recreational users of Cedar Bluff?
Big eye roll.
Stupid is as stupid does.
But… as governor “leadership’s” former chief of staff once told me “there arent enough votes out there to matter”.
And how many jobs are irrigation sucking FARMERS creating?
Economic development. The Kansas way! As stupid as you think…
But the people of western Kansas are not blameless either.
“Send us jobs”
WTF?
Make your communities viable places to LIVE and WORK and the “jobs” will come.
Sit on your ass and whine and support the rape of the water supplies, and guess what?
If you keep doing what you are doing, you’ll get what you got. Dust. Empty store fronts. No population or old population. No schools.
Is there a bigger bunch of welfare queens than the whiney elected officials and economic development “professionals” in western Kansas?
Get off yer asses and DO something besided bitch. Jesus WEPT. No wonder they wanna put the wind turbines out here. The hot air from all the whining and begging for handouts is a significant source of power.
And bullshit…
Oops. Forgot the link to Hays’ new water sucking golf course. Front page news for the hometown rag!
http://www.hdnews.net/
Just who do they think will shop in Hays and play golf in Hays when the water is gone and the people gone with it?
I guess john bird and glenn staab LIKE to have the course to themselves… maybe governor leadership will join them for a few rounds.
…and you wonder why I’ve given up on Kansas?
How can she lose something she never had? As far as she has ever been concerned nothing exist West of Wichita and that may be giving her to much credit. And for the last six months her only job has been trying to become the first woman vice-president.
I may have to reconsider Sebelius as VP.
The numbers from the poll are really good.
Blacks 89% Hispanic 95% ProLife 51%
She seems to be a true Moderate/Conservative.
She would probably attract a lot of Republicans and help balance the ticket against the Third Term of Bush .
Sebelius as a conservative is laughable.
She has increased the state budget and debt so much that our great-great-great grandkids will be paying for it when they become taxpayers.
She is an empty suit.
The sock puppet says “She is an empty suit.”
A 62 % approval rating in a solidly Republican state proves that you are wrong.
“Your comment about Sebelius may have been true, but she is losing favor rapidly among lots of people as they discover more about her…”
She was been Governor for nearly six years and was Insurance Commissioner before that.
Ms. Sebelius is well vetted and is quite popular in Kansas.
Rapidly losing favor?
Only among the morons that ignored the facts and the will of the people when it came to the Holcomb plants.
I thought we were putting up more fans in W. Ks.
When my grandson saw the windmills (he’s 6) he said those look cool!
Whatever happened to the good ol’ days when Western Kansas was threatening to secede from Kansas?
Poor baby — what if she doesn’t become Obama’s running mate as VP? Boo-hoo.
Hmmm, already a drought in Western Kansas and the people there think sucking up more water for a couple coal plants will be a good thing. Stupid is as stupid does.
What fan base? Consider her running against a competant Candidate. Picture an Election where there is an actual Candidate for Governor that would actually work for us. Picture having a Governor instead of having an idiot who is using our resources to party in Washington and run as a running mate for a Liar, like Obama. People feel she and he can Lie because they are a Democrat? I am running as a Democrat for Sheriff in Miami County Kansas, Nov 2008. I am not a liar. Am I not a Democrat now? HLWIII. Ad, Opinion, by Candidate for Sheriff, Miami County Kansas, Herbert West III, Treasurer Herbert West III, Ad, Opinion. west.herb@yahoo.com
Kansas would be a great state if everything west of Great Bend would secede.
But, I suppose every state has it’s share of rednecks, xenophobes, intolerant bigots, misogynists and homophobes.
For those of you in western Kansas who don’t know the meaning of the big words in the second paragraph, get our your Funk and Wagnall’s and look them up.
The entire state; RepubliCONs and Democrats alike should be proud to have a governor like Kathleen Sebelius.
She is a true centrist, but in redneck western Kansas, where chickens and goats reign supreme, a centrist is a liberal.
