Reception story needed no embellishment

sebeliuslaughing1.jpgTopeka Capital-Journal columnist Ric Anderson appreciated abortion opponents’ efforts to get the word out about the Cedar Crest reception purchased at auction by George Tiller and hosted by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius. But they overdid it, Anderson wrote, by calling it a “lavish secret party” for Tiller and “photographic evidence that there is an extremely close relationship” between the governor and the Wichita abortion doctor: “You half expected the anti-abortion crowd to suggest Sebelius and Tiller spent the evening sticking pins in Phill Kline voodoo dolls and cracking beers around a bonfire fed by abortion records.”

    Yup.

Cons these days can’t resist lying.

Propose a moderately liberal policy and the Cons call it “Leninism.”

(Ask them to define “Leninism,” and they don’t say so much.)

Sebelius rented out the hall for charity and Tiller happened to win the raffle.

Now there’s a conspiracy for ya!

Lets just call it what it was. A violation of state law that has been made right. To frame it any other way is weaselling.

She paid back the money which should have been done right away. Case closed unless there are other violations that haven’t come to light.

    okobserver,
I missed this when it happend but I caught the news story about the lawsuit just recently.

Operation Rescue protesters were “stink bombed” while lawfully protesting at the Tiller abortion clinic last Fall. The contents of the bomb that was used by a security operation were smelly fish guts. Operation Rescue protesters sued the perpertrators of the stink bomb under the idea that using a method of that nature is in violation of their free speech rights.

The lawsuit evidently failed since stink bombing a person exercising the constitutionally protected right to free speech does not appear to inflict physical harm.

Maybe the stink bomb can be used at various GOP or Democratically leaning polling places in the upcoming election? Apparently, it’s perfectly acceptable in a society that is supposed to protect free speech.

No need to address opposing ideas using civil discourse, just stink bomb them.

    Maggotpunk,
I’ve smelled Mark Gietzen (from a distance only) and catfish bait would have been an improvement. I’m sure that’s why the court said no damage had been done.

  8. Posted June 12, 2008 at 3:04 pm | Permalink

RFL – I think the key factor in the case was that the stink bomb was on private property. Tiller’s private property. So, if you want to stinkbomb your own home or business that is allowable.

    http://www.kansas.com/213/story/431133.html

Gietzen now wants to go to the local government and have them pass an ordinance making fish bait illegal. I think the guy should pay all his back taxes and stop wasting our money on frivolous lawsuits and wasting our government’s time.

  12. Posted June 12, 2008 at 3:35 pm | Permalink

“I’ve smelled Mark Gietzen (from a distance only) and catfish bait would have been an improvement. I’m sure that’s why the court said no damage had been done.”

Perhaps the intent was to lure catfish into the area. Seeing that catfish eat worms and insects they might try to take a bite out of Gietzen. It failed after it was realized that catfish have higher standards.

Why did they use catfish bait?

Tiller’s clinic has plenty of entrails, flesh and other body parts stored in his facility.

    Posted June 12, 2008 at 4:18 pm | Permalink

The projected contents of the stink bomb in question was not wholly contained inside Tiller’s property.

So according to the lawsuit, It’s okay to stink bomb your property and the personal space of someone else if you disagree with their ideaology provided that the bomb itself is located on your property and no physical harm takes place.

Maybe people living near polling places should employ this tactic come this November. What do you think, bth?

  16. Posted June 12, 2008 at 4:21 pm | Permalink

Is the noise from the protesters contained solely on public property? No, so I suppose the protesters can be arrested for disorderly conduct since their noise drifts onto public property.

Then again, in both cases there is no harm. Just because a person doesn’t bathe or has bad BO isn’t a reason to take them to court.

Well RFL, since the majority of the judges around here are Republicans I suppose you would have to atke that up with them. That said, how can you be certain that “projected contents of the stink bomb in question was not wholly contained inside Tiller’s property”? That does not seem to square with what the Court found to be the facts of the case.

Let’s talk about nosocomial infections or perhaps airborne pathogens. Maybe the types of chemical compounds used in Tiller’s compound used for cleaning. What do you think? Iodophors? Phenolic? Hypochlorites? Let’s run the gambit on micropores for plastic bio-hazard bags and their effectiveness to keep biological hazards segregrated under normal conditions.

How about a discussion on the type of apparel worn in the Tiller Clinic.

Does Doc Tiller use positive or negative air flow in his clinic rooms along with filters to keep out smells, pathogens and other unpleasurable things?

Let’s look at Doc Tiller’s practices on sanitation and sterilization of instruments. Gas sterlization you think or does it involve chemical, or maybe a 15psi autoclave sterlizer which uses steam under pressure.

How about it Pedant? Want to get into the nitty gritty of what I do and do not know?

    Just my 2 cents …

It would seem to me that ANY tissues should be treated as a potential biohazard. One does not know for sure whether or not there might be hepatitus, HIV, or whatever. Therefore it would seem prudent to have a facility prepared to handle that.

Therefore, the action of KDHE in exempting the facility sems dubious to me.

I would say exactly the same thing about any other medical or veteranary facility.

Tiller regularly shovels the dead babies into his incinerator. The area smells awful when he does. One Holocaust survivor said it smells just like Auschwitz. Kansas government ruled that the incinerator does not need to be licensed for disposal of human remains, because – the dead babies, many of whom had been viable, are not . . . human.
