Here is how you can go about getting on the agenda:

First Nathan says you need to say some magic words. Now he says that all is needed is faith. But Nathan puts himself in the position on determining whose faith is genuine and whose isn’t. I would figure that would be in the realm of God to know whose faith is genuine. So Nathan thinks of himself as a god. Should we all worship Nathan as the true God?

I have never claimed to be the only Christian. I know many Christians.
The one thing that I do know from the thousands of Christians I have met in my life is that none of them have refused to say that Jesus Christ is the ONLY Lord and Savior and that ONLY through faith in him can someone be saved.
The question is why would someone claim to be a Christian and a minister too and refuse to answer questions about their faith in Christ?
You do no answer because you know the answer flies in the face of the Religious Pluralism you preach and that is why you are no Christian.

It has everything to do with tolerance. It is admitting that you don’t need to change your view to acknowledge that differing ones are held. It doesn’t indicate agreement with or disagreement with, just tolerance of.
Those of us secure enough within ourselves aren’t threatened by acknowledgment of differences. We don’t think such is contagious. Although some of the stupidity shown around here does seem pretty scary. I try hard to stay as far away from most of it as possible, sometimes I am far too human. Then I get myself back in control and feel better.

My mom had a friend who was in a restaurant with McCain one time.
McCain was apparently very surly and nasty to the wait staff, other diners, and pretty much everybody in the place.

Many religious pluralists claim that members of other faiths are searching for the same truths in different ways, and that all religious knowledge is limited by human fallibility. This level of pluralism does not preclude holding one’s own ideas or participating in the rituals or spiritual life of one particular religion or community; rather, such worshipers practice according to their own traditions, ideas, and community norms while recognizing the validity of a host of other practices or interpretations.
Many people[citation needed] hold that it is both permissible and imperative for people of all faiths to develop some form of religious pluralism. Liberal Christians believe that it is intellectually valid to do so because since Biblical times, humanity’s understanding of man’s place in the natural world has changed radically, due to advances in science; and advances in travel and communications are thought to rule out isolationism.
In the last century, liberal forms of some religions (Reconstructionist Judaism and Reform Judaism, Unitarian Universalism, etc.) have modified some of their religious positions. As opposed to orthodox believers, religious liberals no longer claim that their religion is complete and of absolute accuracy, and in fact view many claims made within their scriptures as questionable or incorrect.
Some religions hold a retrospective form of religious pluralism. A religion can tolerate and sometimes endorse religions that were created before its own beginning, but will not accept any new religion which has arisen later. For example, Christianity accepts some aspects of Judaism, but generally rejects Islam. Islam accepts some aspects of Christianity, but does not tolerate the Bahá’í Faith. Most adherents of Bahá’í Faith partially accept Christianity, Islam and Judaism, but do not accept theological innovations that have been created in their own community.”

God’s Design for Marriage

It’s easy to think that only “other people” get divorced. That your own marriage is somehow immune to heartache, infidelity and fights over who gets the house, the car, the dog. After all, how many of us would walk down the aisle if we believed our relationships would end up in divorce court?
Truth is, no relationship comes with a lifetime guarantee. Even men and women who grew up in stable homes, who attend church and consider themselves Christians, who promise “until death do us part,” can have it all fall apart.
As Christians, we know that applying biblical principles to marriage will give us a stronger foundation than those of our unbelieving friends and neighbors. We know this, but what are we doing about it? In other words, what makes a marriage “Christian”?
According to author Gary Thomas, we’re not asking the right questions. What if your relationship isn’t as much about you and your spouse as it is about you and God?
Instead of asking why we have struggles in the first place, the more important issue is how we deal with them.
In Sacred Marriage, Thomas has not written your typical “how to have a happier relationship” book. Rather, he asks: How can we use the challenges, joys, struggles and celebrations of marriage to draw closer to God? What if God designed marriage to make us both happy and holy?
Viewing Marriage Realistically
“We have to stop asking of marriage what God never designed it to give — perfect happiness, conflict-free living, and idolatrous obsession,” Thomas explains.
Instead, he says, we can appreciate what God designed marriage to provide: partnership, spiritual intimacy and the ability to pursue God — together. So, what does Thomas think is the most common misconception Christians have about marriage?
“Finding a ’soul mate’ — someone who will complete us,” he says. “The problem with looking to another human to complete us is that, spiritually speaking, it’s idolatry. We are to find our fulfillment and purpose in God . . . and if we expect our spouse to be ‘God’ to us, he or she will fail every day. No person can live up to such expectations.”
Everyone has bad days, yells at his or her spouse, or is downright selfish. Despite these imperfections, God created the husband and wife to steer each other in His direction.
Thomas offers an example: “When my wife forgives me . . . and accepts me, I learn to receive God’s forgiveness and acceptance as well. In that moment, she is modeling God to me, revealing God’s mercy to me, and helping me to see with my own eyes a very real spiritual reality.”
While it’s easy to see why God designed an other-centered union for a me-centered world, living that way is a challenge. So when bills pile up, communication breaks down and you’re just plain irritated with your husband or wife, Thomas offers these reminders to help ease the tension:
God created marriage as a loyal partnership between one man and one woman.
Marriage is the firmest foundation for building a family.
God designed sexual expression to help married couples build intimacy.
Marriage mirrors God’s covenant relationship with His people.
We see this last parallel throughout the Bible. For instance, Jesus refers to Himself as the “bridegroom” and to the kingdom of heaven as a “wedding banquet.”
These points demonstrate that God’s purposes for marriage extend far beyond personal happiness. Thomas is quick to clarify that God isn’t against happiness per se, but that marriage promotes even higher values.
“God did not create marriage just to give us a pleasant means of repopulating the world and providing a steady societal institution to raise children. He planted marriage among humans as yet another signpost pointing to His own eternal, spiritual existence.”
Serving Our Spouse
He spends the entire evening at the office — again. She spends money without entering it in the checkbook. He goes golfing instead of spending time with the kids. From irritating habits to weighty issues that seem impossible to resolve, loving one’s spouse through the tough times isn’t easy. But the same struggles that drive us apart also shed light on what we value in marriage.
“If happiness is our primary goal, we’ll get a divorce as soon as happiness seems to wane,” Thomas says. “If receiving love is our primary goal, we’ll dump our spouse as soon as they seem to be less attentive. But if we marry for the glory of God, to model His love and commitment to our children, and to reveal His witness to the world, divorce makes no sense.”
Couples who’ve survived a potentially marriage-ending situation, such as infidelity or a life-threatening disease, may continue to battle years of built-up resentment, anger or bitterness. So, what are some ways to strengthen a floundering relationship — or even encourage a healthy one? Thomas offers these practical tips:
Focus on your spouse’s strengths rather than their weaknesses.
Encourage rather than criticize.
Pray for your spouse instead of gossiping about them.
Learn and live what Christ teaches about relating to and loving others.
Young couples in particular can benefit from this advice. After all, many newlyweds aren’t adequately prepared to make the transition from seeing one another several times a week to suddenly sharing everything. Odds are, annoying habits and less-than-appealing behaviors will surface. Yet as Christians, we are called to respect everyone — including our spouse.
Thomas adds, “The image I use in Sacred Marriage is that we need to learn how to ‘fall forward.’ That is, when we are frustrated or angry, instead of pulling back, we must still pursue our partner under God’s mercy and grace.”
Lastly, Thomas suggests praying this helpful prayer: Lord, how can I love my spouse today like (s)he’s never been loved and never will be loved?

While other marriage books may leave us feeling overwhelmed, spotlighting our shortcomings and providing pages of “relationship homework,” Sacred Marriage makes it clear that any couple can have a successful, happy and holy marriage.

Like it or not, the basis for this government is secular. Marriage has existed as a secular as well as, and sometimes instead of, a religious one. And I have seen no actual evidence, none whatsoever, that “Christian” marriages on average function better than marriages without a “Christian” basis.

We have seen from SOME Obama supporters, threats.
I want to be clear. These threats came from SOME Obama supporters.
When Obama found himself in trouble because of the words of HIS pastor, SOME of his supporters screamed that Hillary should be primaried in New York. Another called for Obama to bail the party and run independent.
Let us remember Senator Clinton taking one for the party and imploring her supporters not to descend to such depths.
Another thing that IS fair to mention is that the Democratic party FEARED that if Obama was not the nominee, the black vote would abandon the party. Now personally? If black voters were prepared to cut their own throats if a black man was not the nominee simply because he was black? I am on record as saying “so what?”.
I have to be honest here. In the end, “hope and change” became little more than “vote Obama or else!”
Now Hillary Clinton has fallen in line. She knows her own political future DEPENDS on Obama. She will be blamed unfairly if he fails. SO she will work her heart out for him.
But she will STILL be blamed if he fails. So will her supporters.
So much for hope and change huh?
Obama will now fall under and for the first time INCREDIBLE scrutiny. I will be a part of that scrutiny. I will be fair but I will not be intimidated. I have not decided how I will vote in the fall. This differs me from those who forced Senator Clinton into Obama or else.
Long story short, Obama needs to continue to prove himself. He is the presumptive nominee. He has done what he could with…strange…electoral strategy and rhetoric to the willing. NOW he will need to add meaning to his words. Now he must explain who is the “we” in “Yes we can!” and show his work.

As a supporter of Senator Clinton, I offer you the chance to apologize for remarks you have made here about her and her supporters.
I am testing the waters here to see. Senator Clinton asks me to advocate for Obama. WILL Obama supporters ALSO take a bite of humble pie and reach out to the supporters of Senator Clinton?

As I told you ben, Senator Clinton is being leaned on by the goon squad behind obama.
The force behind obama. I’ve always wondered who that was. But I’m comforted knowing he will never be President.
I know we will have a Democratic House and Senate. We have lost a HUGE opportunity in trusting the Presidential nomination to a Republican panderer.
I no longer care who wins the Presidency. But it has become very important to me that obams should lose.
And, he will.
Until Hillary is forced out of the race, and the pressure on her IS tremendous and shameful, I will continue to hope she takes it to the convention and beats that strutting, sloganeering, smarmy SO bama.
I’m fairly confident obama will lose. I HOPE he doesn’t win.

I am sorry that WS has become a problem here. I was one of the first to encourage him. He is little more than the left’s version of “James” “Regular” etc.

The American voters, and the superdelegates, got who they wanted.

Right now? I’m leaning voting Green or not voting.
One good reason to not vote for the Green party is that they are only on the ballots in 24 states. I don’t even think they are on the Kansas ballot. Given that it’s an electoral college, and the Green party isn’t on the ballot for states like Texas and New York your candidate can’t possibly win.
So you can either go for Obama who shares many positions that the Green Party does, or you can have four more years of Bush under McCain.
