The UN climate change numbers hoax

It’s an assertion repeated by politicians and climate campaigners the world over: “2,500 scientists of the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) agree that humans are causing a climate crisis.” But it’s not true. And, for the first time ever, the public can now see the extent to which they have been misled. As lies go, it’s a whopper. Here’s the real situation.

Like the three IPCC “assessment reports” before it, the Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) released during 2007 (upon which the UN climate conference in Bali was based) includes the reports of the IPCC’s three working groups. Working Group I (WG I) is assigned to report on the extent and possible causes of past climate change as well as future “projections”. Its report is titled “The Physical Science Basis”.

The reports from working groups II and II are titled “Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability” and “Mitigation of Climate Change” respectively, and since these are based on the results of WG I, it is crucially important that the WG I report stands up to close scrutiny.

There is, of course serious debate among scientists about the actual technical content of the roughly 1,000-page WG I report, especially its politically motivated Summary for Policymakers which is often the only part read by politicians and non-scientists. The technical content can be difficult for non-scientists to follow and so most people simply assume that if large numbers of scientists agree, they must be right.

Consensus never proves the truth of a scientific claim, but is somehow widely believed to do so for the IPCC reports, so we need to ask how many scientists really did agree with the most important IPCC conclusion, namely that humans are causing significant climate change – in other words the key parts of WG I?

The numbers of scientist reviewers involved in WG I is actually less than a quarter of the whole, a little more than 600 in total. The other 1,900 reviewers assessed the other working group reports. They had nothing to say about the causes of climate change or its future trajectory. Still, 600 “scientific expert reviewers” sounds pretty impressive. After all, they submitted their comments to the IPCC editors who assure us that “all substantive government and expert review comments received appropriate consideration”. And since these experts reviewers are all listed in Annex III of the report, they must have endorsed it, right?

    Wrong.

For the first time ever, the UN has released on the Web the comments of reviewers who assessed the drafts of the WG I report and the IPCC editors’ responses. This release was almost certainly a result of intense pressure applied by “hockey-stick” co-debunker Steve McIntyre of Toronto and his allies. Unlike the other IPCC working groups, WG I is based in the US and McIntyre had used the robust Freedom of Information legislation to request certain details when the full comments were released.

An examination of reviewers’ comments on the last draft of the WG I report before final report assembly (i.e. the “Second Order Revision” or SOR) completely debunks the illusion of hundreds of experts diligently poring over all the chapters of the report and providing extensive feedback to the editing teams. Here’s the reality.

A total of 308 reviewers commented on the SOR, but only 32 reviewers commented on more than three chapters and only five reviewers commented on all 11 chapters of the report. Only about half the reviewers commented on more than one chapter. It is logical that reviewers would generally limit their comments to their areas of expertise but it’s a far cry from the idea of thousands of scientists agreeing to anything.

Compounding this is the fact that IPCC editors could, and often did, ignore reviewers’ comments. Some editor responses were banal and others showed inconsistencies with other comments. Reviewers had to justify their requested changes but the responding editors appear to have been under no such obligation. Reviewers were sometimes flatly told they were wrong but no reasons or reliable references were provided.

In other cases reviewers tried to dilute the certainty being expressed and they often provided supporting evidence, but their comments were often flatly rejected. Some comments were rejected on the basis of a lack of space – an incredible assertion in such an important document.

The attitude of the editors seemed to be that simple corrections were accepted, requests for improved clarity tolerated but the assertions and interpretations that appear in the text were to be defended against any challenge. An example of rampant misrepresentation of IPCC reports is the frequent assertion that “hundreds of IPCC scientists” are known to support the following statement, arguably the most important of the WG I report, namely “Greenhouse gas forcing has very likely caused most of the observed global warming over the last 50 years”.

In total, only 62 scientists reviewed the chapter in which this statement appears, the critical chapter 9, “Understanding and Attributing Climate Change”. Of the comments received from the 62 reviewers of this critical chapter, almost 60 per cent of them were rejected by IPCC editors. And of the 62 expert reviewers of this chapter, 55 had serious vested interest, leaving only seven expert reviewers who appear impartial.

Two of these seven were contacted by NRSP for the purposes of this article – Dr Vincent Gray of New Zealand and Dr Ross McKitrick of the University of Guelph, Canada. Concerning the “Greenhouse gas forcing .” statement above, Professor McKitrick explained “A categorical summary statement like this is not supported by the evidence in the IPCC WG I report. Evidence shown in the report suggests that other factors play a major role in climate change, and the specific effects expected from greenhouse gases have not been observed.”

Dr Gray labeled the WG I statement as “Typical IPCC doubletalk” asserting “The text of the IPCC report shows that this is decided by a guess from persons with a conflict of interest, not from a tested model”.

Determining the level of support expressed by reviewers’ comments is subjective but a slightly generous evaluation indicates that just five reviewers endorsed the crucial ninth chapter. Four had vested interests and the other made only a single comment for the entire 11-chapter report. The claim that 2,500 independent scientist reviewers agreed with this, the most important statement of the UN climate reports released this year, or any other statement in the UN climate reports, is nonsense.

“The IPCC owe it to the world to explain who among their expert reviewers actually agree with their conclusions and who don’t,” says Natural Resources Stewardship Project Chair climatologist Dr Timothy Ball. “Otherwise, their credibility, and the public’s trust of science in general, will be even further eroded.”

That the IPCC have let this deception continue for so long is a disgrace. Secretary General Ban Kai-Moon must instruct the UN climate body to either completely revise their operating procedures, welcoming dissenting input from scientist reviewers and indicating if reviewers have vested interests, or close the agency down completely.

    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/presidentbush/2008/06/bush-approval-r.html

FROM THE LA TIMES–BUSH APPROVAL AT ALL TIME LOW

Seven months before the end of his term, President Bush’s approval rating is at an all-time low.

In the just-released Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg Poll, the president won approval from 23% of all registered voters — including 3% of Democrats and 58% of Republicans. Those numbers are down from February, when he had an approval rating of 35%. His high mark, according to the poll, was in November 2001, just after the 9/11 terror attacks, when the president’s popularity rating among registered voters was at 85%.

Perhaps the most interesting number is that 50% of self-described conservatives disapprove of the way the president is handling his job.

    3 cops suspended….

This headline caught my attention fast! It would be nice to know the allegations so, not to assume. By reading the comments posted below this article it looks like there is allot of it going on, I guess I am guilty of the same. I wonder how complaints are taken seriously & investigated throughly when it seems they may be one in the same…rude conduct…unprofessional behavior. These officers were off duty and were suspended but on duty employees are allowed??? Could it be that these allegations may have been taken just a bit more personal to those higher up the chain?

    My comment…..
Of course they do not tell the allegations and…they more than likely will not follow thru with the end either, in regards to letting the public be aware how lightly their hands will be tapped, if any. “Protect & Serve”, they do, of their own. Don’t be fooled by the comment that “the department takes all complaints seriously.” 104 internal investigations last year, 20 were “sustained”, those must have been the ones they chose to take and investigate seriously. I know of a complaint that was given to the Chief and the response when asked why did the end result only include part of the complaint was… there was so many, the ones included are the ones investigated. The most terrible action in the complaint, taken seriously??? Of course not, they protect their own. Furthermore, be prepared to protect yourself from being further victimized if you choose to walk in that door of professional standards, it is only the name of the department, not to be a reflection of the manner in which you may be talked to.
At anytime in your life a crime can include you. No matter how law abiding you are, no matter what kind of person you are, you are not always safe. I have reality now…Homicide leaves more than one victim. Another reality…a city protects a city. WPD is part of a city, they protect their own no matter if it is rude conduct, inappropriate behavior and/or yelling at a homicide victims mother for asking someone if they are okay.
Only the public pulling together for change will change anything. Contact your city manager in groups, a single person is easy to turn away.

And about Judge Pilshaw…during my “visits” in Wichita, she was one of the very few that had any compassion to us, the victims.

Whoa…WAKE UP WICHITA! I am suprised at all the negative response, maybe you haven’t a clue what really goes on there. Actually, Judge Pilshaw is one of the few that does have any compassion for the innocent! I understand her frustration. You hear people talk about how bad this and that is but when it comes down to it…they do not want to stand up, speak out, and/or do their duty. In my opinion this is going on allot there!!! Here, try this on for size…
Your child is murdered in Wichita. You are yelled at on the phone by the homicide detective, then he also kindly hangs up on you, when all you were doing was asking questions because you are unaware of the law due to you being a law abiding citizen, not thinking you need to know certain things. His Lt. & Sgt. provide… he must be having a bad day due to being tired & frustrated. Tired & frustrated??? If only those were the two things affecting you!!!
You are assigned a victim advocate, employed by the WPD. She gives you answers according to what she thinks, or is the normal but does not take the time to find out the true answer…leading you to believe that she has lied and/or doesn’t care enough to find out for sure. And above all…yells at you for compassionalty asking another family victim if they are okay. She sits in a court room and is asked to “take care” of two young innocent boys while you give your impact statement…just a compassionate touch may have meant the world at that moment but it must have been too much to ask of her. But wait, professional standards has the answer…he didn’t know it was her job to babysit! The boys happen to be very respectful, responsible, loving and brokenhearted 10 & 13 yr olds, their brother was murdered.
I could go on to include more of what happens behind the scenes but I will stop at this…one murderer goes before a judge, the judge is cold, shows no emotions whatsoever. You wonder if he even paid enough attention to notice the murderers attorney is so disrepsectfully rolling his eyes into the courtroom as the family is giving their impact statements! He also in the end gives a sentence of the lesser to a man that plead guilty!
I think you may need to rethink what you are thinking and saying. Judge Pilshaw is a judge who cares about you and speaks out for what is right. So she has emotions and feelings…after all of the above, which would you choose?
Of course this being asked to the innocent.

Maybe if you would read what is going on in Wichita news, you would have caught it, or…are you just that slow?

And…I can blog what I want…freedom of speech, a main idea or not.

Report: Bill Clinton Tells Friends Obama Can Kiss His Butt
    by FOXNews.com
    Monday, June 30, 2008

As Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were kissing and making up last Friday, Bill Clinton might have had other ideas, according to a report in The (London) Telegraph.

The paper reports that even as the former president and the current presumptive Democratic nominee prepare to meet to make their own amends, Bill Clinton reportedly told close friends Obama can “kiss my ass” to get his support.

The paper cited an anonymous Democratic source who provided the quote. That source also said Clinton is not making the primary effort to bridge the chasm between himself and Obama.

“He’s saying he’s not going to reach out, that Obama has to come to him. One person told me that Bill said obama would have to quote, ‘kiss my ass,’ close quote, if he wants his support.

“You can’t talk like that about Obama — he’s the nominee of your party, not some house boy you can order around.

I will have to look and see if I can find the original study, but one of my favorites that illustrates what is likely an unconscious bias was a meta-analytic review that compared the effect sizes of benefit in a number of different types of medications: the comparison was those studies supported by the manufacturer of the drug vs. those not so supported. The studies reviewed were published in a number of different journals which made manufacturer vs. non-manufacturer comparisons on a number of different medical conditions.

Those group of studies supported by the manufactuer consistently showed a significantly larger effect-size benefit over those not so supported.

    Here is the study:

I have to comment that if this article had been published by a U.S. medical journal, to read it, you’d have to pay some serious $’s – not so in Britian. Must be one of those socialist plots, I suppose.

Experts Are Jumping off Global Warming ‘Train’

“An award-winning meteorologist has written an article debunking fears of man-made global warming — and predicting that global cooling could be a more likely problem.

James Spann, chief meteorologist at station ABC 33/40 in Birmingham, Ala., first attracted worldwide publicity back in January 2007 when he disputed the assertion that global warming was caused by human activity, instead insisting it is part of the earth’s regular climate cycle.

Now he has posted an article on his station’s Weather Blog, headlined “Global Warming Movement Turns Cool,” which reads in part: “Two years ago, it seemed like nothing could stop the global warming train. Most of the media, those in Hollywood, politicians (many on both sides of the cultural divide), and ‘enlightened environmentalists’ were all telling us that man was causing runaway warming of the earth’s atmosphere, meaning global catastrophe only decades ahead for all of us. Scary stuff.

“The problem is that a majority of those in this almost religious movement have little training in atmospheric science, and little understanding of the issue. They jumped on the bandwagon because it matches their worldview, or pads their pocket.”

The simple truth is that the man-made global warming train has “slowed to a crawl” and the riders are “jumping off as the facts are discovered,” writes Spann, who has been named his state’s best weather anchor nine times and won an Emmy Award for his tornado coverage in December 2000.

Spann notes that the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine this month announced that 31,072 American scientists signed a petition stating that “there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane or other greenhouse gases is causing, or will cause in the future, catastrophic heating of the earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the earth’s climate.”

Spann acknowledges that the climate is changing, but maintains that it always has changed and always will. He points to these “simple facts”:

    * The earth is no warmer now than it was in 1998.
    * Carbon dioxide, which is being blamed for global warming, is not a pollutant but a gas indispensable to plant life. Plants, in turn, release oxygen, which sustains animal and human life.
    * The primary greenhouse gas is not carbon dioxide, but water vapor.
    * The lack of solar activity in recent months suggests global cooling might be our biggest potential climate change problem in coming years.

“I have been doing the weather on local television for 30 years, and every year I have had people come up to me and tell me that they can ‘never remember the weather being this strange,’” Spann writes.

John Coleman, meteorologist and founder of The Weather Channel, has called the global warming movement the greatest scam in history, Spann points out, adding, “I encourage all of you to read material on both sides of the issue and make up your own mind.”

That last sentence sounds reasonable, I for one am not going to worry or lose ANY sleep over AGW.

    The Patriot Post:

“The only logical argument which still might hold some sway with some… frustrated conservatives is the Supreme Court. It’s an old argument—[and] its power to persuade is less this election than in years past. The reality is that while there could well be two vacancies during the next president’s term, those vacancies are likely to be for two of the Court’s liberal members, Justices Stevens and Ginsberg. Should Obama win, he’d get to replace two liberals with two liberals. So the philosophical make-up of the court would be a wash… And many conservatives probably could have lived with that—as long as the Court didn’t hand down any outrageous new decisions this summer showing that the Court still had not moved far enough to the right… First the Court ruled, 5-4, that captured Islamic terrorists with absolutely no regard for American human life whatsoever are entitled to the same constitutional rights and privileges as a United States citizen. Then this week the Court ruled, again 5-4, that it is cruel and unusual punishment for men who rape little girls under the age of 12 to get the death penalty. Replacing even one of the five liberal justices on the wrong side of these rulings would indeed change the course of legal jurisprudence in this country for years to come. So simply maintaining the status quo isn’t looking like such an acceptable thing after all. And then there was [the] DC gun ban decision. The court got this one right—but only by a 5-4 decision. Citizens of the United States of America [darn] near lost a critical God-given legal right to self-defense by one stinking vote. … Thanks to these three Supreme Court decisions, many conservatives may now feel compelled to return to the GOP flock, hold their noses REAL tight, and vote for John McCain in November.” —Chuck Muth

Behind the theological disputation, however, is a struggle grounded in the here and now. Who speaks for American evangelicals, and on what issues? Evangelicals in the U.S. share a cluster of core principles: belief in the authority of the Bible, a determination to spread the faith and a commitment to salvation through Jesus. But defining the group beyond that is difficult. They also have a long history of quarrels over their agenda and tension over leadership, particularly since the rise in the 1970s of the formidable political force known as the “religious right.”

The dispute over the environment has gained urgency in the run-up to next year’s presidential election. Liberal Christians have long championed green issues. Some of their more conservative brethren, particularly in Washington, then joined them in that cause. Now, as anxiety over the environment seeps into the evangelical heartland of the South, pastors and ordinary believers are also wrestling with what was long scorned as a left-wing fetish. A look at how the struggle is playing out in Texas shows the different forces at work — and suggests its outcome is unlikely to be resolved soon.

“Global warming is a proxy battle,” says the Rev. Jim Ball, a graduate of Baylor University, a Baptist college in Waco, and now head of the Evangelical Environmental Network, a group set up in 1994. The combatants are “those moving forward on a broader agenda, and those who want to keep evangelicals focused on just three things — abortion, judges and gay marriage.”

IPCC “reviewers” are self-selected — a person can become a “reviewer” by simply requesting to be given a draft copy.

I suppose you’re telling me that “scientists” are super-human, and can do what no one else can do: put aside their biases, entirely, and be completely objective? Please.

It’s a myth. It always was. It always will be, as long as science is done by human beings. It will always be influenced by such human things as one’s status in the community, the sources of one’s funding, and (especially with something as politicized as globing warming) one’s personal and political biases, among other things.

Supermen? Not hardly. None of us are. ‘Cepting me, of course; and sometimes I wonder about me.

    :-)

Notice how cosmos’s ‘more important than God’ scientists……..

We can prove the existence of the science folks, God on the other hand.

    Snip

Let’s agree that there is no empirical evidence showing that God exists.

If you think about it as a rational person, this lack of evidence is startling. There is not one bit of empirical evidence indicating that today’s “God”, nor any other contemporary god, nor any god of the past, exists. In addition we know that:

    1. If we had scientific proof of God’s existence, we would talk about the “science of God” rather than “faith in God”.

    2. If we had scientific proof of God’s existence, the study of God would be a scientific endeavor rather than a theological one.

    3. If we had scientific proof of God’s existence, all religious people would be aligning on the God that had been scientifically proven to exist. Instead there are thousands of gods and religions.

The reason for this lack of evidence is easy for any unbiased observer to see. The reason why there is no empirical evidence for God is because God is imaginary.

    Understanding the Rationalizations

The most common rationalization for the lack of scientific evidence is the “God must remain hidden” argument. See this proof for details.

Many believers try to rationalize God’s existence by saying something like this: “The existence of the universe proves God’s existence. Something had to create the universe. Science has no explanation for the universe’s creation. Therefore, God created it.”

The way to understand that this is a rationalization is to look back in history. Ancient people, before they had science, explained many things that they did not understand with “gods.” There have been sun gods, thunder gods, fertility gods, rain gods, etc.

The Bible works the same way. It tries to explain many things that its ancient authors did not understand by attributing them in God. For example, if you read Genesis 9:12-13 you will find this:

And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth…”

This is the Bible’s explanation of rainbows. Of course we now know that rainbows are a prismatic effect of raindrops. In the same way, Genesis chapter 3 tries to explain why human childbirth is so painful and Genesis chapter 11 tries to explain why there are so many human languages. These are myths, nothing more.

“Robinson “acknowledges he has done no direct research into global warming.” (source). Robinson is the founder of a group called the “Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine” (OISM ), which markets, among other things, a home-schooling kit for “parents concerned about socialism in the public schools” and books on how to survive nuclear war.

In April 1998, Robinson’s Oregon Institute, along with the Exxon-backed George C. Marshall Institute , released a petition on global warming and the Kyoto Protocol that was so misleading it prompted the National Academy of Science to issue a news release stating that: “The petition project was a deliberate attempt to mislead scientists and to rally them in an attempt to undermine support for the Kyoto Protocol.”

    Oregon petition and big tobacco
It’s interesting to note that Fred Sietz, the author of the cover letter is also the former medical advisor to RJ Reynolds medical research program.
A 1989 Philip Morris memo stated that Seitz was: “quite elderly and not sufficiently rational to offer advice.” However, 9 years later, it seems that he was “sufficiently rational” to lead the charge on Robinson’s Oregon Petition. “

    Oh, those wacky fundies –

OneNewsNow, the “Christian news service” covertly owned by the AFA, receives syndicated content from providers like the Associated Press and edits instances of the word “gay” to read “homosexual.” Although the site is registered to the conservative, anti-gay organization, the fact is not disclosed anywhere on the site.

An article posted Sunday night about Olympic track and field star Tyson Gay was no exception.

“Tyson Homosexual easily won his semifinal for the 100 meters at the U.S. Olympic track and field trials,” the article read, “and seemed to save something for the final later Sunday.” The headline read “Homosexual eases into 100 final at Olympic events.”

“On Saturday,” it went on, “Homosexual misjudged the finish in his opening heat and had to scramble to finish fourth, then in his quarterfinal a couple of hours later, ran 9.77 to break the American record that had stood since 1999.”

“Asked how he felt, Homosexual said: ‘A little fatigued.’”

About a quarter of the abortions that take place each year are performed on girls younger than 20. Younger abortion victims may be more likely to experience difficulties coping after abortion compared to older women, partly because teens are more likely to be pressured into unwanted abortions or to undergo abortions later in pregnancy, owing to concealment, which carry a greater risk of physical and psychological complications. Adolescent girls who abort unintended pregnancies are five times more likely to seek subsequent help for psychological and emotional problems compared to their peers who carry “unwanted” pregnancies to term. Adolescents who commit abortions are over three times more likely to report subsequent trouble sleeping and nine times more likely to report subsequent marijuana use. Women who aborted are at increased risk for suicidal behavior, psychiatric problems, symptoms of post-traumatic stress, and sleep disorders, which are often linked to trauma.
Abortion clearly poses more risks than birth, and mothers, even those underage, who carry their pregnancy to birth, who raise their child or give their child for adoption, clearly fare better than those who commit abortion.

Notorious soft-on-predators Shawnee County District Court “judge” Matthew Dowd on Friday again dove below sentencing guidelines, and sentenced Harold Dean Spencer, 75, for two counts of sex with children, ages 6 and 7, to PROBATION. District Attorney Robert Hecht said he plans to appeal the sentence and another similar case Dowd decided earlier in the week.
The mentally and morally unfit “judge” Dowd made a pitiful attempt at justifying the ridiculously light sentence, citing Spencer’s age, the lack of a previous criminal record and the availability of family support.
On Tuesday, Dowd also departed downward from sentencing guidelines in a case against Christopher Henderson-Brown, 32, who was convicted of the rape of a 5-year-old child. In that case, Dowd gave a sentence of 155 months, lower than the recommended 166 to 186 months. Multiple doctors and surgery were required to reconstruct and repair the physical damage done to that young victim, who suffered permanent physical and psychological harm. Dowd, revealing his completely flawed reasoning processes and complete lack of regard for his duty to protect children from rape, said he wanted Henderson-Brown to “see light at the end of the tunnel.”
In 2007, Dowd was criticized for three cases in which he departed from state sentencing guidelines to allow probation rather than prison time for men convicted of sex crimes.
Dowd has announced he will retire on Sept. 1 after 31 years of inflicting such damage upon our criminal justice system as a “judge”, after which he can continue filling in as a senior “judge” to inflict more and probably far worse damage.
In addition to blaming Dowd for the continuing rapes of Kansas children, we must also cast blame directly on our elected Kansas House members, for refusing their duty last year, whilst otherwise making their legislative session a fiasco, to impeach this mentally and morally unfit “judge” who is putting all our children at risk and making a mockery of our sentencing guidelines. Instead they wasted their time on a watered down bill to limit judicial discretion in diving below guidelines, to which such renegade judges will refuse to be held accountable.
Johnson County voters have one chance on their November ballot this year to begin demanding accountability, by voting YES for direct election of Johnson County district judges. Vote YES, don’t be put in the position of Shawnee County citizens, never being able to get rid of an unelected, unaccountable, horrible, renegade “judge”.
(Retention votes in the merit selection system don’t work, folks.)

I will continue to drive the cars I have, go where I please, as far as I please, turn on lights and leave them on if I so choose, keep my air conditioning and heating set to exactly where I please.
You are the one being conned much more than I. I simply don’t care to pay attention to it much and won’t. I simply think it odd you make it your life mission to preach about it on this blog constantly but really don’t effect anything. Has that occurred to you yet?

Reports from the North, too warm for seals!

The Arctic ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consul Ifft, at Bergen, Norway. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers, he declared, all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met with as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes. Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm. Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared. Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts, which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds.

Pal, you just don’t get it yet….it’s not that I necessarily want to, or don’t want to, believe anyone or thing, it’s that I just don’t care that much, and you seem so one dimensional about it.
I’m about to go out and cook hamburgers on my grill, and eat on the deck with my lovely wife, as I did last night. The weather/climate is simply great, the best I can remember. I haven’t even turned on my sprinkler system yet and here it is late June/early July, that is unheard of and the lawn is lush. We were blessed with a decent wheat crop on one farm, not good at all on another, but that’s the way it goes. I live today because there are no guaranties for tomorrow, even though I try to plan for it. But I don’t try to plan for centuries down the line. Even if AGW is true I simply can’t do anything about it, and honestly….neither can you. You focus on and seem consumed with this and it is out of your hands. Be thankful you live where you do, in the time you do, and leave the future to the future, it and the Earth will take care of itself. Believe me, the Earth will take care of itself, and it will do so without asking permission from cosmos or anyone else.

    3 FACTS TO CONSIDER –

1)-Over 70% of our National Debt was created by just 3 Republican presidents.

Go ahead, get out your calculator and add up debt by president/party. Apparently the party that claims fiscally responsibility thinks it’s ok to borrow massive amounts of money from foreign countries like China. Consider that we spend hundreds of billions of dollars in interest payments on this debt each year. That means more and more of your hard earned money is going to make interest only payments on what is basically a Giant National Credit Card. Not to mention the fact our debt/deficits are largely behind the weakness of our dollar, which in turns makes gas more expensive and creates other serious problems.

If you want to learn more about the National Debt, check out these links:
    http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock /
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/20...
zfacts.com/p/447.html (A running clock with the cost of the war)
    abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=news/business…

2)-According to new research from Larry Bartels out of Princeton, real middle class wage growth is double when a Democrat is president compared to when a Republican is president.

“…Even more remarkable, the real incomes of working-poor families…grew six times as fast when Democrats held the White House. Only the incomes of affluent families were relatively impervious to partisan politics, growing robustly under Democrats and Republicans alike…”: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/27/magazine/27wwln-ideal...

Here is a short summary of this research: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2008...

And here is a good, short audio interview with Larry Bartels: youngturks.wmod.llnwd.net/a591/o1/4-25-08Bartels…

3)-90% of Americans would pay less taxes under Obama’s proposed tax plan compared to McCain’s.

This is according to the non-partisan Tax Policy Institute as reported by CNN: money.cnn.com/2008/06/11/news/economy/candidates…

People making under $112,000 a year in individual (not household) income would pay less taxes under Obama’s plan.

By contrast, John McCain’s tax cuts mostly benefit the top 10% of Americans. Under McCain’s plan, people making over 2.9 million dollars in individual annual income would get almost a million dollar tax break.

Conclusion: Countless millions of Americans vote Republican because they believe they’ll pay less taxes and that they’ll have their money spent more responsibly. As you can see, those beliefs are directly contradicted by the facts. Of course we can choose to ignore the facts and instead focus on which candidate is wearing a flag pin (you ever notice that Hillary and McCain don’t wear them? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vi5nbZvS9cg ) but I think we’re a smarter country than that.

The Wichita Kennel Club has a referral service, don’t know the number offhand but I can get it for you if you can’t find it in the book.

Also, you can go to the AKC website and find some local (Kansas) clubs linked. Most of them have a breeder page and those breeders are generally respected or they wouldn’t be allowed to list there.

Many of the AKC clubs also have rescue organizations that can also be a source.

“okobserver” owns up to a bit of reality, with –

“I am honest enough to know that both parties have contributed to the deficit.”

    That honest?! Really?

Dishonest enough, still, to “make numbers say anything you want them to say,” I hope.

“Forty years of democratic rule played a big part in that.”

How many balanced budgets did Ronald Reagan submit to Congress during his eight years in office?

Whatever happened to 1994’s Contract With America promised that the new Republican Congress would pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution? Oh, and which is the last president to send a balanced budget to Congress?

“If you know the accountant jokes and LIFO and FIFO then you surely know that comparing todays dollars and the dollars of past years in not possible.”

Yeah, except when the Republic Party wants to attack letting Srub’s “Leave No Billionaire Behind” temporary tax-cuts sunset…AS THEY WERE WRITTEN and calling it “the largest tax increase in history!!!!!” (The five exclamation points are part of the quote, btw)

“If you don’t factor in the inflation and deflation through the years then your numbers are just numbers and have no basis in fact.”

Oh, I don’t think you want to talk too much about inflation (gasoline prices, food prices, huge deficits financed by “Red” China) if you want to promote your political biases. Let’s adjust Reagan’s deficit spending for inflation. Let’s adjust George HW Bush’s deficits for inflation. Let’s use some of your “make numbers say anything you want them to say” skills and Shrub might turn out to be only the SECOND-worst contributor to the national debt in American history.

“There Monkey I actually typed an entire paragraph withou demeaning you or your intelligence. Without calling you one name.”

I also realize this is a competitive world, and I plan on competing and reasonably coming out a winner. I have done everything I can think of to help with this AGW thing. I have switched out most of the light bulbs in my home, I keep the thermostats at 68* in the winter and 78 to 82* in the summer. Are you really so Rude and Crude that you have to be a total bitch-creep about something like a person’s loss of a pet??

Rude and Crude? Oh I don’t know, I thought it was funny. Some of us have a bit of a dark sense of humor. Lighten up; don’t look for ways to take offense.

Of course, this is from a guy who posted an obit with a name bolded because he thought – mistakenly – that it included one of this favorite posters here.

And yes, Chas, you’ll deny it. Again. And no, no one, not even your “allies,” will buy your lame denial this time either.

GMC, you really think I dont know how James spells his name?? If you do YOU are the mental midget…. not me!!! I knew full well that the young man in the Obit was NO relation to James McCluer, since the young man’s name was McClure!! Even an idiot attorney is smart enough to see what happened with that one… And since it backfired on the righty tidiees…. yhou nut cases just cant stand to let it go!!

However, those five folks whose lives were saved by the thoughtfulness of that yhoung man will never forget what his true purpose in life was all about… All the while all you nut cases can do is make fun of it!!

    How terribly shallolw!!

How terribly shallow that a poster would make fun of the passing of a favorite pet… Guess that just shows what you folks are really all about!! And it aint LOVE, for damn sure!!

    Yeah, you would.

I’ve met GMC in person. They don’t come any more bellicose and puffy than that parade float.

“Beber”? My parents raised poodle puppies. I grew up feeding some of the puppies with eye droppers full of milk when there were too many pups for the mother to feed.

You’ve found yourself some interesting and maybe telling about you allies there guy. Why don’t you stay away from subjects you know nothing about?

I liked that obit post so much, I might even post it again, just to remind people what LIFE is all about!!

    This looks interesting >>>>
McClure, Benjamin Harrison, 20, cherished son, brother and uncle, passed away Friday, March 6, 2008. Ben was born March 2, 1988 in Wichita, Kan. He was able to graduate in 2006 from Southeast High School while living on his own, and later moved on to work at Burlington Coat Factory and the Cracker Barrel. He was a passionate writer and pianist, and an advent student of yoga and meditation. Ben was known and loved by many and will be best remembered for his kind heart and giving nature. He was always quick to help a friend in need, even when he had very little himself to give. Even in his sudden death, there is comfort in knowing that his generous spirit lived on in the gift of organ donation. Through his passing he was able to give the most of himself by saving the lives of at least five different people. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Angela and Stan Allenbach; his father, James McClure; sisters, Shelby Bais, Molly McClure, Anna McClure; his three nieces, Paige and Lynndon Bais, Nia McClure; grandfather, Glen McClure. Funeral sevices 10 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008, Biglow-Bethea Funeral Directors Chapel, 957 N. Oliver.

    Actually Chas,

Some of my relatives spell their name McClure and live in Wichita and the surrounding area. That boy might well be a great-grandson of one of my Dad’s cousins as I don’t know them all.

And Chas, your lying excuse is still bullshyt.

And of course I care about the future of my grandchildren, and have saved considerable for their future education. I just got back from a week long vacation with all three, camping, swimming, hiking, exploring, and having a simply great time.
    —————-

    1) Why should I “believe” you about the “Earth” and AGW, when you admit that you “just don’t care that much”? And you very obviously have not researched AGW

    2) Will the money you’ve saved for them replace the nature your grandchildren enjoyed last week, if AGW causes changes in their future? Or their children, later in the future?

    3) You should give your grandchildren hardcopies of your posts here, for them to read decades in the future.

If their parents know that you blog here, maybe they’re already saving your posts for your grandchildren?

Wanna highlight that obit the way you did the first time? No? Why not? Because it makes clear as a bell your explaination is complete BS.

And typing in all caps doesn’t make BS stink any less. So STFU yourself! (That’s Squeeze The Furry Ubu, of course. From relatives of my mother’s second cousin’s aunt, twice removed, on my father’s side. From Albania. On months with a full moon on Tuesdays.)

See. My BS is funnier than your BS – except I don’t pretend to actually believe mine.

But, of course, you still believe Obama is a secret muslim, and you might even believe he isnt legal to run for president… But that wouldnt make it true either!! And, if you have never had the unique pleasure of spending time with any of the Pennsylvania Dutch, you have truly missed out on one of life’s great thrills!!! They happened to be part of MY family!! Since you’re an expert on science, do you have any comment re my post upthread?

If a scientist refuted AGW, s/he would become famous worldwide.

Wouldn’t that be a strong incentive to overturn all of the climate science done since Arrhenius in 1896?

To be fair, I still laugh about the “stand the floor up” – which does have the necessary “back in the front, already yet” syntax of low German. So it could be correct on that score.

But admitting a mistake, Chas, my friend, and I do sincerely consider you my friend, is not a bad thing.

With that thought, I am going to bed, and will not make any pronouncements, or suggestions, on what you should think about Gods, etc.

    Very well, Parkay:

There is truth in your attestations; however, I find the marijuana/abortion connection somewhat tenuous.

I didn’t smoke mary-j until three years after my abortion, and I only did it ’cause my ex did it, and I was attempting to conform to my idea of what his idea of a groovy chick was, so……

But I will say this: many, many pro choice individuals concede the implicit tragedy behind abortion. My own physician did so; I certainly understood his concerns and never became pregnant again.

I will concede this as well: Dealing with tragedy, when a young person is already heavily depressed, is not a happy state of affairs. This was made even more clear to me this past weekend.

But smokin’ potty? Sheesh – I don’t know where your source is coming up with that one. Perhaps opiates and abortion would be a more understandable combo – but I didn’t ingest that
s–t until 26 years after my abortion.

Anyway, I’m exuding some admirable equanimity here! Give me a parade past the Spirit One Christian Center!

There is truth in what Parkay says here.

    cosmos,
I ‘just don’t care that much’ because I know the Earth will take care of itself, just as I’ve already explained to you. Why would I worry if I am confident of that? You make the silliest statements and and ask the silliest questions.
cosmos, just how am I negatively effecting the Earth relative to yourself, please tell me. You pontificate about AGW but in reality you are no different than anyone else. That’s hypocritical, just like your idol Algore who’s carbon footprint is 12 times the average families, ha. It is so typical of liberals to feel superior by simply having or expressing feelings, but actually doing nothing.
You are really a one dimensional guy, at least on the blog, do you have ANY OTHER INTERESTS, or PHOBIAS besides AGW? If so, please take off on one of those for a shocking and welcome change.

And Chas, please try to pay attention. What you label as bigoted opinions is expressed adherence to Biblical scripture. I don’t place myself above others or judge them spiritually, but I can sure evaluate their actions and words against what has been given to us as our guide. And it’s ridiculous for you to act as if you don’t, you are right now in judging me.
