LA governor Lindel wants to teach the myth of creationism (AKA creation science, AKA intelligent design) alongside scientific facts like evolution.

For those who, like Lindel, who are clueless about evolution and need to start from the beginning there’s a great video explaining abiogenesis (and why it isn’t the theory of natural selection). If anything the music is great.

    Speaking of great music……….

Tomorrow is an important day, because Coldplay is releasing their long-awaited fourth CD – titled “Viva La Vida.” And I can’t freaking wait.

Coldplay, like many bands today, releases a new CD every three years. Unlike the Beatles’ and Stones’ 1960s heyday which saw one or two new LPs unleashed every year, it’s a different world today.

And the music fan simply has to wait.

From what I’ve read, Coldplay’s latest offering is kick-a^$. Their first CD was killer. The second, the aptly-titled “A Rush of Blood to the Head”, included the shimmering “Clocks.” 2005’s XYZ (I may have gotten the title wrong) was excellent, too.

And I’ve heard this fourth effort bests ‘em all.

I won’t be able to purchase it until Friday (payday). But purchase it I shall.

I don’t hold it against Chris Martin that his wifey-poo ill deserved the 1999 Oscar for the insipid “Shakespeare in Love.” I guess that means I’m a big girl now.

When one accesses Fox News’ website this morning, the following atrocity assails one’s senses:

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,367243,00.html

Let us enact a running countdown – let us wonder how quickly the anti-abortion activists among us will rush to condemn this crime. Because it’s different. It’s not your average demon – or demoness, as it were.

It was committed by a male.

The gender of this murderer makes no difference, in my view. The despicable crime – and its tragic conclusion – remains undiminished.

Randall Terry is, at this moment, penning his third installment to his twee trilogy/manifesto. I wonder how much this story will resonate with him? It probably won’t resonate at all; coveting one’s own vainglory is a labored (no pun intended) affair. Because he really, really loves himself.

    He’s really, really into him.

I guess my inner bee-y-itch is comin’ out. I still haven’t recovered from that d-che-wiperage who wholly exonerated my own rapist from any malfeasance therein. I then wholly abandoned whatever good breeding, gentility and grace I possess – and spoke my mind with assertion.

Anyway, I’ve got my stopwatch primed and ready. And I’m countin’ down the epochs till we see a right-to-life response on this one………

Are you ready, are you ready?
Are you ready, are you ready?

Are you ready to meet Jesus?
Are you where you ought to be?
Will He know you when He sees you
Or will He say, “Depart from Me”?

Are you ready, hope you’re ready.
Am I ready, am I ready?
Am I ready, am I ready?

Am I ready to lay down my life for the brethren
And to take up my cross?
Have I surrendered to the will of God
Or am I still acting like the boss?

Am I ready, hope I’m ready.

    When destruction cometh swiftly
And there’s no time to say a fare-thee-well,
Have you decided whether you want to be
    In heaven or in hell?

Are you ready, are you ready?

Have you got some unfinished business?
Is there something holding you back?
    Are you thinking for yourself
Or are you following the pack?

Are you ready, hope you’re ready.
    Are you ready?

Are you ready for the judgment?
Are you ready for that terrible swift sword?
    Are you ready for Armageddon?
Are you ready for the day of the Lord?

Are you ready, I hope you’re ready.

    God is the Light

How great the wonders of the heavens
And the timeless beauty of the night
How great – then how great the Creator?
And its stars like priceless jewels
Far beyond the reach of kings
Bow down for the shepherd guiding him home.

But how many eyes are closed
To the wonder of this night?
Like pearls, hidden, deep beneath a dark
    Stream of desires.
But like dreams vanish with the call to prayer
And the dawn extinguishes night – here too are signs.
God is the Light – God is the Light

How great the beauty of the Earth and the creatures
    Who dwell on her.
How great – then how great the Creator?
As its mountains pierce the clouds
High above the lives of men
Weeping rivers for thousands of years.

But how many hearts are closed
To the wonders of this sight?
Like birds in a cage, asleep with closed wings
But like work stops with the call to prayer
And the birds reside – here too are signs
God is the Light – God is the Light

How great the works of man and the things he makes
How great – then how great the Creator?
Though he strives to reach the heavens
    He can barely survive
The wars of the world he lives in.

Yet, how many times he’s tried,
    Himself to immortalise?
Like his parents before him in the Garden of Eden
But like the sun sets with the call to prayer
And surrenders to the night here too are signs
    God is the Light Everlasting
    God is the Light Everlasting
    God is the Light Everlasting
    God is the Light Everlasting

    Morning Has Broken
    By: Cat Stevens

Morning has broken, like the first morning.
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird.
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning,
Praise for them springing fresh from the Word.

Sweet the rain’s new fall, sunlit from heaven.
Like the first dewfall, on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetnes of the wet garden,
Sprung in completeness where His feet pass.

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning.
Born of the one light Eden saw play.
    Praise with elation, praise every morning;
God’s recreation of the new day.

Morning has broken, like the first morning.
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird.
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning,
Praise for them springing fresh from the Word.

    Now I’ve been happy lately
Thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be
    Something good has begun
    I’ve been smiling lately
Dreaming about the world as one
And I believe it could be
    Something good’s bound to come

For out on the edge of darkness
    There runs the peace train
    Peace train take this country
    Come take me home again

    Peace train sounding louder
    Ride on the peace train
    Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah
    Come on the peace train
    Peace train’s a holy roller
Everyone jump upon the peace train
    Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah
    This is the peace train

    Get your bags together
Come bring your good friends too
    Because it’s getting nearer
Soon it will be with you
    Come and join the living
It’s not so far from you
    And it’s getting nearer
Soon it will all be true

    Peace train sounding louder
    Ride on the peace train
    Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah
    Come on the peace train

    I’ve been crying lately
Thinking about the world as it is
Why must we go on hating?
Why can’t we live in bliss?

For out on the edge of darkness
    There rides the peace train
    Peace train take this country
    Come take me home again

    Peace train sounding louder
    Ride on the peace train
    Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah
    Come on the peace train

Come on, come on, come on the peace train…

    Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
    You that hide behind walls
    You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks.

    You that never done nothin’
    But build to destroy
    You play with my world
    Like it’s your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
    When the fast bullets fly.

    Like Judas of old
    You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
    You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
    That runs down my drain.

    You fasten all the triggers
    For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
    You hide in your mansion’
    As young people’s blood
    Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud.
    [ Lyrics accessible from http://www.rare-lyrics.com ]

    You’ve thrown the worst fear
    That can ever be hurled
    Fear to bring children
    Into the world
    For threatening my baby
    Unborn and unnamed
    You ain’t worth the blood
    That runs in your veins.

    How much do I know
    To talk out of turn
You might say that I’m young
    You might say I’m unlearned
But there’s one thing I know
    Though I’m younger than you
    That even Jesus would never
    Forgive what you do.

Let me ask you one question
    Is your money that good
    Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
    I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
    All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul.

And I hope that you die
    And your death’ll come soon
    I will follow your casket
    In the pale afternoon
And I’ll watch while you’re lowered
    Down to your deathbed
And I’ll stand over your grave
‘Til I’m sure that you’re dead.

Sounds as if the guy was totally out of his mind. I can’t imagine someone who would intentionally do that to a baby.

I’m heartbroken, I’m angry, and I’m glad the police shot him. I don’t know how the standerby’s couldn’t have jumped the guy and stopped it unless they were all just small compared to the guy.

And someone else should have shot him. If there was ever and argument for concealed carry, god that has to be it.

“Singh said the coroner does not plan to confirm the identities of the suspect and victim until Monday. Because his injuries were so severe, the child will have to be identified through a blood or DNA test, he said.”

“let us wonder how quickly the anti-abortion activists among us will rush to condemn this crime”
    -Flimfan

Perhaps Flimfan believes that the ire of pro-lifer is aimed at women. To the contrary. The moral abyss that our culture has fallen into has been hand dug by both males and females.

The “liberated” female who champions her right to an abortion is enthusiastically supported by her self serving male seducer who seeks only sexual gratification without the responsibility of loving his mate or his offspring. As a result, the right to an abortion is as much in the male’s shortsighted self interest as in the female’s.

The ugly truth is that the refusal by the inhabitants of our society both (male and female) to acknowledge the intrinsic humanity of an unborn baby reverberates into a refusal to respect the right to life of post-utero human beings as well.

The brutal acts against a toddler as detailed in flimfan’s link as well as the stories of baby dumping are justified if abortion is simply a medical procedure.

Such is the legacy of Roe V. Wade.

Come out Virginia, don’t let me wait
You Catholic girls start much too late
aw But sooner or later it comes down to fate
I might as well be the one

well, They showed you a statue, told you to pray
They built you a temple and locked you away
Aw, but they never told you the price that you pay
For things that you might have done…..
    Only the good die young
    thats what i said
only the good die young x2

You might have heard I run with a dangerous crowd
We ain’t too pretty we ain’t too proud
We might be laughing a bit too loud
aw But that never hurt no one

So come on Virginia show me a sign
Send up a signal I’ll throw you the line
The stained-glass curtain you’re hiding behind
    Never lets in the sun
Darlin’ only the good die young
    woah
    i tell ya
only the good die young x2

You got a nice white dress and a party on your confirmation
You got a brand new soul
mmmm, And a cross of gold
But Virginia they didn’t give you quite enough information
    You didn’t count on me
When you were counting on your rosary
    (oh woah woah)

They say there’s a heaven for those who will wait
Some say it’s better but I say it ain’t
I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints
the Sinners are much more fun…

you know that only the good die young
    oh woah baby
    i tell ya
only the good die young, X2

You say your mother told you all that I could give you was a reputation
Aww She never cared for me
But did she ever say a prayer for me? oh woah woah

Come out come out come out virgina dont let me wait,
You catholic girls start much too late
Sooner or later it comes down to fate
I might as well be the one,
You know that only the good die young

    I’m telling you baby
You know that only the good die young

Human life has become so disposable in our culture…what’s the difference between beating a baby to death and crushing a baby’s skull before it’s born? One suffers as much as the other.

Rfl you said “The “liberated” female who champions her right to an abortion is enthusiastically supported by her self serving male seducer who seeks only sexual gratification without the responsibility of loving his mate or his offspring. Boy do you have it wrong wrong wrong. The liberated female who champions her right to make her own MEDICAL decisions is just that..its not ONE issue, but many. Women and men don’t take this decision lightly, and every woman has different reasons. Some people are just not meant to be parents emotionally, some people are just physically not meant to be parents and some people are just not financially able to be parents. And some women are actually concerned for the CHILD. That might be hard for you to grasp, but some children live lives of pure pain.

You act as if abortion is all about getting rid of a byproduct of sex. And you act as if sex is only for procreation.

Abortions happened long before they were legal, and people killed children long before abortions were legal. One is not related to the other. I don’t know how you can compare beating to death a one year old and having an abortion. All abortions are done long before a baby has feeling or even able to live. I know you have literature that says differently, but your literature is wrong.

Not at all true Mary and you know it. The baby is dead by the time the skull is removed. And that is an extremely low percentage of abortions anyway.

You all act as if these kind of things didn’t happen before abortion was legal. Get real. There are people who are just not meant to be parents.
This guy had to either be jacked up or mentally ill. And yet, you think its a good idea to put children into that environment…and this is what happens when you do.

My two favorite Dylan tunes (it is difficult to pick I have to confess):

    All along the watchtower

“There must be some way out of here,” said the joker to the thief,
“There’s too much confusion, I can’t get no relief.
Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth,
None of them along the line know what any of it is worth.”

“No reason to get excited,” the thief, he kindly spoke,
“There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we’ve been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late.”

All along the watchtower, princes kept the view
While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too.

Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl,
Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl.

    Mr. Tambourine Man

Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I’m not sleepy and there is no place I’m going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I’ll come followin’ you.

Though I know that evenin’s empire has returned into sand,
    Vanished from my hand,
Left me blindly here to stand but still not sleeping.
My weariness amazes me, I’m branded on my feet,
I have no one to meet
And the ancient empty street’s too dead for dreaming.

Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I’m not sleepy and there is no place I’m going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I’ll come followin’ you.

Take me on a trip upon your magic swirlin’ ship,
My senses have been stripped, my hands can’t feel to grip,
My toes too numb to step, wait only for my boot heels
    To be wanderin’.
I’m ready to go anywhere, I’m ready for to fade
Into my own parade, cast your dancing spell my way,
I promise to go under it.

Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I’m not sleepy and there is no place I’m going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I’ll come followin’ you.

Though you might hear laughin’, spinnin’, swingin’ madly across the sun,
It’s not aimed at anyone, it’s just escapin’ on the run
And but for the sky there are no fences facin’.
And if you hear vague traces of skippin’ reels of rhyme
To your tambourine in time, it’s just a ragged clown behind,
    I wouldn’t pay it any mind, it’s just a shadow you’re
    Seein’ that he’s chasing.

Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I’m not sleepy and there is no place I’m going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I’ll come followin’ you.

Then take me disappearin’ through the smoke rings of my mind,
Down the foggy ruins of time, far past the frozen leaves,
The haunted, frightened trees, out to the windy beach,
Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow.
Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free,
Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands,
With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves,
Let me forget about today until tomorrow.

Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I’m not sleepy and there is no place I’m going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I’ll come followin’ you.

Boortz has a good rant on environmentalist. and commies.

    http://boortz.com/nuze/index.html

    snip

Patrick Moore was the founder of Greenpeace. He called himself a “radical environmentalist.” Several years after founding Greenpeace Patrick Moore walked away. Moore said that the fall of communism brought a lot of anti-corporate extremism to the environmental movement. Here’s his explanation:

” ….. suddenly, the international peace movement had a lot less to do. Pro-Soviet groups in the West were discredited. Many of their members moved into the environmental movement, bringing with them their eco-Marxism and pro-Sandinista sentiments.

    snip

Brazil has found some new massive oil deposits off shore. In this case the “environmentalists” aren’t fighting the recovery of the oil. And why would that be? Could it possibly be because the bulk of the money goes to the government and not private enterprise? Here’s a telling sentence from the story:

“Where government has the property right, restrictions on development tend to be low. But when the private sector is the owner, environmental concerns blossom.”

Now why would environmentalists even care? If their true concern was the environment, they wouldn’t. If their true concern was crippling free enterprise, they would.

Here’s a great song by the Bottle Rockets –

Thousand dollar car it ain’t worth nothin’
Thousand dollar car it ain’t worth shit.
Might as well take your $1000,
    and set fire to it.
    $1000 car ain’t worth a dime,
You lose your $1000 every time.
Oh why did I ever buy,
    a $1000 car?

$1000 car is gonna let you down,
More than it’s ever gonna get you around.
Replace your gaskets and paint over your rust,
You’ll still end up with something that you’ll never trust.
    $1000 car’s life was through,
‘bought 50,000 miles ‘fore it got to you.
Oh why did I ever buy,
    a $1000 car?

    A $1000 car ain’t even gonna roll,
til you throw at least another thousand in the hole.
Sink your money in it, and there you are
the owner of a 2,000 dollar 1,000 dollar car.
    (guitar solo)
    If you’ve only got a $1000.
You ought to just buy a good guitar.
Learn how to play it it’ll take you farther,
    than any old $1000 car.
If a $1000 car was truly worth a damn,
then why would anybody ever spend ten grand.
Oh why did I ever buy,
    a thousand dollar car?

“Not at all true Mary and you know it. The baby is dead by the time the skull is removed. And that is an extremely low percentage of abortions anyway.”

Oh, MY bad…I guess the baby doesn’t feel the sissors getting shoved into the back of it’s head and the catheter sucking it’s brains out. Or a younger fetus can’t feel a needle stabbing it’s chest and having digoxin shot into it’s heart. Amazing how a fetus will react to pain on a sonogram, but when it comes to killing it, the pro abortion side will swear it can’t feel pain.
A fetus younger than full term can feel pain, no matter how much you deny it.
I guess my point is that we’re making a human being suffer and die, no matter which side of the skin it’s on, and that we as a culture accept the killing of innocent human life when it’s inconvenient or unwanted.

You don’t mind that pain of getting a shot when it is saving its life now do you? and you certainly don’t mind those children feeling pain from horrible conditions.

They also withdraw from being touched…which I could argue is painful since their skin is paper thin.

Wow. The fights between the water wholesale districts and agriculture have worked their way to the Ks Supremes. This is scary stuff, where, according to this article, the wholesale water district wants to use eminent domain to acquire water rights that they will essentially be using to “speculate” on water.

Keep your eye on this one. It’s outcome will have a huge effect on water issues. People forget, these decisions set the tone for future battles.

I dont like the looks of this one AT ALL!

    http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/K/KS_WATER_FIGHT_KSOL-?SITE=KSSAL&SECTION=STATE&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT

Funny, the WE doesnt cover these water issues in the business, or ag, or news sections. I ALWAYS have to go to the Salina Journal to get any information about what’s going on in the water wars.

And yet, PJ Griekspoor got ANOTHER opportunity to shill for ethanol today in the business section. She never met an industry press release on ethanol that she didnt mistake for news.

Remember, she’s the one who fawningly broke the “Story” (steve miller’s press release) about the “magic algae” lie at the Holcomb plant.

Phyllis, honey, why dont you just get on the payroll of Sunflower or the ethanol producers? Maybe the corn producers?

‘Cause you’re a great shill for them. But as an objective journalist, you are a great PR person…

JR, I just howled when I read your post. What a perfect response. This is one of my ALL TIME favorite verses from songs.

“They say there’s a heaven for those who will wait
Some say it’s better but I say it ain’t
I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints
the Sinners are much more fun…

you know that only the good die young”

I’d rather laugh here with the sinners than cry with the saints too!

    Ephesians 5

1 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. 4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a man is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. 7 Therefore do not be partners with them.

8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9(for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 BUT EVERYTHING EXPOSED BY THE LIGHT BECOMES VISIBLE (caps mine), 14 for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said:

    “Wake up, O sleeper,
    rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”

15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. 19 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

I find that it is very disingenuous to defend abortion, and in particular, partial-birth abortion, on the one hand, because of “rights”, and yet at the same time to be apalled at the senseless murder of a small child on the other.

For me? The whole song encapsulates my take on some religious people. In some ways, they are so comfortable. ANYTHING happens and it’s “God’s will” so it’s ok. But in a lot of other ways, some religious people are really hung up. As I’m sure you know.

And then to justify abortion because it spares the child a terrible childhood like the one in the article.

In effect, you are saying that the child must be killed twice!

One, because you won’t be a good parent, cant afford it or aren’t emotionally able.

Two, because you won’t be a good parent, cant afford it or aren’t emotionally able.

Parent’s should (oh, that unpopular word, should) place the fetus, baby, infant or child as more important than themselves, because of the life it holds in itself.

    lyrics eh…
    let’s see…

Well I saw the thing coming out of the sky
It had one long horn and one big eye
I commenced to shakin’ and I said oo-wee
It looks like a purple people eater to me
It was a one-eyed one-horned flying purple people eater
    Sure looks good to me

Well, he came down to earth and he lit in a tree
I said mr Purple People Eater don’t eat me
I heard him say in a voice so gruff
I wouldn’t eat you ‘cos you’re too tough
It was a one-eyed one-horned flying purple people eater
It sure looks strange to me

I said mr Purple People Eater what’s your line
He said eating purple people and it sure is fine
But that’s not the reason that I came to land
I wanna get a job in a rock ‘n roll band
Well, bless my soul rock ‘n roll flying’ purple people eater
Pigeon-toed under-growed flyin’ purple people eater
    one-eyed one-horned it was a people eater
    What a sight to see

Well, he swung from the tree and he lit on the ground
he started to rock really rockin’ around
It was a crazy ditty with a swinging tune
Wop bop a lula wop bam boom
    one-eyes one-horned flying people eater
Ooh, it sure looks strange to me

Well he went on his way and then what do you know
I saw him last night on a TV show
He was a blowin’ it out and really knockin’ them dead
Playing rock ‘n roll music through the horn in his head

Maybe one of the religious fundos can “explain me this”–

If New Orleans got smited down by a hurricane for planning a gay parade and New York got hit on 9-11 for abortion, why did a tornado level Greensburg, KS? And Andover before that? And Andale before that? And Hesston before that?

Why did God put Charles Krauthammer in a wheelchair? Why did God give Ronald Reagan Alzheimer’s disease and turn him into a slobbering vegetable? Why does He take Charleton Heston and spare Al Gore?

    Alice’s Restaurant
    By Arlo Guthrie

This song is called Alice’s Restaurant, and it’s about Alice, and the
restaurant, but Alice’s Restaurant is not the name of the restaurant,
that’s just the name of the song, and that’s why I called the song Alice’s
    Restaurant.

You can get anything you want at Alice’s Restaurant
You can get anything you want at Alice’s Restaurant
Walk right in it’s around the back
Just a half a mile from the railroad track
You can get anything you want at Alice’s Restaurant

Now it all started two Thanksgivings ago, was on – two years ago on
Thanksgiving, when my friend and I went up to visit Alice at the
restaurant, but Alice doesn’t live in the restaurant, she lives in the
church nearby the restaurant, in the bell-tower, with her husband Ray and
Fasha the dog. And livin’ in the bell tower like that, they got a lot of
room downstairs where the pews used to be in. Havin’ all that room,
seein’ as how they took out all the pews, they decided that they didn’t
have to take out their garbage for a long time.

We got up there, we found all the garbage in there, and we decided it’d be
a friendly gesture for us to take the garbage down to the city dump. So
we took the half a ton of garbage, put it in the back of a red VW
microbus, took shovels and rakes and implements of destruction and headed
    on toward the city dump.

Well we got there and there was a big sign and a chain across across the
dump saying, “Closed on Thanksgiving.” And we had never heard of a dump
closed on Thanksgiving before, and with tears in our eyes we drove off
into the sunset looking for another place to put the garbage.

We didn’t find one. Until we came to a side road, and off the side of the
side road there was another fifteen foot cliff and at the bottom of the
cliff there was another pile of garbage. And we decided that one big pile
is better than two little piles, and rather than bring that one up we
    decided to throw our’s down.

That’s what we did, and drove back to the church, had a thanksgiving
dinner that couldn’t be beat, went to sleep and didn’t get up until the
next morning, when we got a phone call from officer Obie. He said, “Kid,
we found your name on an envelope at the bottom of a half a ton of
garbage, and just wanted to know if you had any information about it.” And
I said, “Yes, sir, Officer Obie, I cannot tell a lie, I put that envelope
    under that garbage.”

After speaking to Obie for about fourty-five minutes on the telephone we
finally arrived at the truth of the matter and said that we had to go down
and pick up the garbage, and also had to go down and speak to him at the
police officer’s station. So we got in the red VW microbus with the
shovels and rakes and implements of destruction and headed on toward the
    police officer’s station.

Now friends, there was only one or two things that Obie coulda done at
the police station, and the first was he could have given us a medal for
being so brave and honest on the telephone, which wasn’t very likely, and
we didn’t expect it, and the other thing was he could have bawled us out
and told us never to be see driving garbage around the vicinity again,
which is what we expected, but when we got to the police officer’s station
there was a third possibility that we hadn’t even counted upon, and we was
both immediately arrested. Handcuffed. And I said “Obie, I don’t think I
can pick up the garbage with these handcuffs on.” He said, “Shut up, kid.
Get in the back of the patrol car.”

And that’s what we did, sat in the back of the patrol car and drove to the
quote Scene of the Crime unquote. I want tell you about the town of
Stockbridge, Massachusets, where this happened here, they got three stop
signs, two police officers, and one police car, but when we got to the
Scene of the Crime there was five police officers and three police cars,
being the biggest crime of the last fifty years, and everybody wanted to
get in the newspaper story about it. And they was using up all kinds of
cop equipment that they had hanging around the police officer’s station.
They was taking plaster tire tracks, foot prints, dog smelling prints, and
they took twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy photographs with circles
and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each
one was to be used as evidence against us. Took pictures of the approach,
the getaway, the northwest corner the southwest corner and that’s not to
    mention the aerial photography.

After the ordeal, we went back to the jail. Obie said he was going to put
us in the cell. Said, “Kid, I’m going to put you in the cell, I want your
wallet and your belt.” And I said, “Obie, I can understand you wanting my
wallet so I don’t have any money to spend in the cell, but what do you
want my belt for?” And he said, “Kid, we don’t want any hangings.” I
said, “Obie, did you think I was going to hang myself for littering?”
Obie said he was making sure, and friends Obie was, cause he took out the
toilet seat so I couldn’t hit myself over the head and drown, and he took
out the toilet paper so I couldn’t bend the bars roll out the – roll the
toilet paper out the window, slide down the roll and have an escape. Obie
was making sure, and it was about four or five hours later that Alice
(remember Alice? It’s a song about Alice), Alice came by and with a few
nasty words to Obie on the side, bailed us out of jail, and we went back
to the church, had a another thanksgiving dinner that couldn’t be beat,
and didn’t get up until the next morning, when we all had to go to court.

We walked in, sat down, Obie came in with the twenty seven eight-by-ten
colour glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back
of each one, sat down. Man came in said, “All rise.” We all stood up,
and Obie stood up with the twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy
pictures, and the judge walked in sat down with a seeing eye dog, and he
sat down, we sat down. Obie looked at the seeing eye dog, and then at the
twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures with circles and arrows
and a paragraph on the back of each one, and looked at the seeing eye dog.
And then at twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures with circles
and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one and began to cry,
’cause Obie came to the realization that it was a typical case of American
blind justice, and there wasn’t nothing he could do about it, and the
judge wasn’t going to look at the twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy
pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each
one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against us. And
we was fined $50 and had to pick up the garbage in the snow, but thats not
what I came to tell you about.

Came to talk about the draft.

They got a building down New York City, it’s called Whitehall Street,
where you walk in, you get injected, inspected, detected, infected,
neglected and selected. I went down to get my physical examination one
day, and I walked in, I sat down, got good and drunk the night before, so
I looked and felt my best when I went in that morning. `Cause I wanted to
look like the all-American kid from New York City, man I wanted, I wanted
to feel like the all-, I wanted to be the all American kid from New York,
and I walked in, sat down, I was hung down, brung down, hung up, and all
kinds o’ mean nasty ugly things. And I waked in and sat down and they gave
me a piece of paper, said, “Kid, see the phsychiatrist, room 604.”

And I went up there, I said, “Shrink, I want to kill. I mean, I wanna, I
wanna kill. Kill. I wanna, I wanna see, I wanna see blood and gore and
guts and veins in my teeth. Eat dead burnt bodies. I mean kill, Kill,
KILL, KILL.” And I started jumpin up and down yelling, “KILL, KILL,” and
he started jumpin up and down with me and we was both jumping up and down
yelling, “KILL, KILL.” And the sargent came over, pinned a medal on me,
sent me down the hall, said, “You’re our boy.”

Didn’t feel too good about it.

Proceeded on down the hall gettin more injections, inspections,
detections, neglections and all kinds of stuff that they was doin’ to me
at the thing there, and I was there for two hours, three hours, four
hours, I was there for a long time going through all kinds of mean nasty
ugly things and I was just having a tough time there, and they was
inspecting, injecting every single part of me, and they was leaving no
part untouched. Proceeded through, and when I finally came to the see the
last man, I walked in, walked in sat down after a whole big thing there,
and I walked up and said, “What do you want?” He said, “Kid, we only got
one question. Have you ever been arrested?”

And I proceeded to tell him the story of the Alice’s Restaurant Massacre,
with full orchestration and five part harmony and stuff like that and all
the phenome… – and he stopped me right there and said, “Kid, did you ever
    go to court?”

And I proceeded to tell him the story of the twenty seven eight-by-ten
colour glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and the paragraph on
the back of each one, and he stopped me right there and said, “Kid, I want
you to go and sit down on that bench that says Group W …. NOW kid!!”

And I, I walked over to the, to the bench there, and there is, Group W’s
where they put you if you may not be moral enough to join the army after
committing your special crime, and there was all kinds of mean nasty ugly
looking people on the bench there. Mother rapers. Father stabbers. Father
rapers! Father rapers sitting right there on the bench next to me! And
they was mean and nasty and ugly and horrible crime-type guys sitting on the
bench next to me. And the meanest, ugliest, nastiest one, the meanest
father raper of them all, was coming over to me and he was mean ‘n’ ugly
‘n’ nasty ‘n’ horrible and all kind of things and he sat down next to me
and said, “Kid, whad’ya get?” I said, “I didn’t get nothing, I had to pay
$50 and pick up the garbage.” He said, “What were you arrested for, kid?”
And I said, “Littering.” And they all moved away from me on the bench
there, and the hairy eyeball and all kinds of mean nasty things, till I
said, “And creating a nuisance.” And they all came back, shook my hand,
and we had a great time on the bench, talkin about crime, mother stabbing,
father raping, all kinds of groovy things that we was talking about on the
bench. And everything was fine, we was smoking cigarettes and all kinds of
things, until the Sargeant came over, had some paper in his hand, held it
    up and said.

    “Kids, this-piece-of-paper’s-got-47-words-37-sentences-58-words-we-wanna-
    know-details-of-the-crime-time-of-the-crime-and-any-other-kind-of-thing-
    you-gotta-say-pertaining-to-and-about-the-crime-I-want-to-know-arresting-
    officer’s-name-and-any-other-kind-of-thing-you-gotta-say”, and talked for
forty-five minutes and nobody understood a word that he said, but we had
fun filling out the forms and playing with the pencils on the bench there,
and I filled out the massacre with the four part harmony, and wrote it
down there, just like it was, and everything was fine and I put down the
pencil, and I turned over the piece of paper, and there, there on the
other side, in the middle of the other side, away from everything else on
the other side, in parentheses, capital letters, quotated, read the
    following words:

    (”KID, HAVE YOU REHABILITATED YOURSELF?”)

I went over to the sargent, said, “Sargeant, you got a lot a damn gall to
ask me if I’ve rehabilitated myself, I mean, I mean, I mean that just, I’m
sittin’ here on the bench, I mean I’m sittin here on the Group W bench
’cause you want to know if I’m moral enough join the army, burn women,
kids, houses and villages after bein’ a litterbug.” He looked at me and
said, “Kid, we don’t like your kind, and we’re gonna send you fingerprints
    off to Washington.”

And friends, somewhere in Washington enshrined in some little folder, is a
study in black and white of my fingerprints. And the only reason I’m
singing you this song now is cause you may know somebody in a similar
situation, or you may be in a similar situation, and if your in a
situation like that there’s only one thing you can do and that’s walk into
the shrink wherever you are ,just walk in say “Shrink, You can get
anything you want, at Alice’s restaurant.”. And walk out. You know, if
one person, just one person does it they may think he’s really sick and
they won’t take him. And if two people, two people do it, in harmony,
they may think they’re both faggots and they won’t take either of them.
And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in
singin a bar of Alice’s Restaurant and walking out. They may think it’s an
organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day,I said
fifty people a day walking in singin a bar of Alice’s Restaurant and
walking out. And friends they may thinks it’s a movement.

And that’s what it is , the Alice’s Restaurant Anti-Massacre Movement, and
all you got to do to join is sing it the next time it come’s around on the
    guitar.

With feeling. So we’ll wait for it to come around on the guitar, here and
sing it when it does. Here it comes.

You can get anything you want, at Alice’s Restaurant
You can get anything you want, at Alice’s Restaurant
Walk right in it’s around the back
Just a half a mile from the railroad track
You can get anything you want, at Alice’s Restaurant

That was horrible. If you want to end war and stuff you got to sing loud.
I’ve been singing this song now for twenty five minutes. I could sing it
for another twenty five minutes. I’m not proud… or tired.

So we’ll wait till it comes around again, and this time with four part
    harmony and feeling.

We’re just waitin’ for it to come around is what we’re doing.

    All right now.

You can get anything you want, at Alice’s Restaurant
    Excepting Alice
You can get anything you want, at Alice’s Restaurant
Walk right in it’s around the back
Just a half a mile from the railroad track
You can get anything you want, at Alice’s Restaurant

Da da da da da da da dum
    At Alice’s Restaurant

Why did a communist sympathizer, Lee Harvey Ozwald, assasinate JFK?

Why did Al Gore lose the 2000 election and go slobbering into the night about winning the popular vote?

Oh wait, I know the answer to the last one, Gore lost his home state of Tennessee, which, if he would have won it, guaranteed him the election.

When Bob Dylan was playing and singing in the 60’s, people like you (CONs) used it as evidence that the country was going to hell and the peacenik hippies like Dylan were the Pied Pipers leading the kids into calumny.

    JR-KsGrrl,

Maybe one of the religious fundos can “explain me this”–

If New Orleans got smited down by a hurricane for planning a gay parade and New York got hit on 9-11 for abortion, why did a tornado level Greensburg, KS? And Andover before that? And Andale before that? And Hesston before that?

Why did God put Charles Krauthammer in a wheelchair? Why did God give Ronald Reagan Alzheimer’s disease and turn him into a slobbering vegetable? Why does He take Charleton Heston and spare Al Gore?”

    Hey, Capn,

    Why did God make bees?

    Why does it rain?

I don’t think that God caused Katrina because of a Gay parade.

I don’t think that God caused 9-11 because of abortion.

    Does God cause tornadoes?

    Who is Charles Krauthammer?

Why did Reagan get Alzheimers? I have no idea!

I do believe that the creation is in decay because of one thing: Sin entering into it through the one man, Adam.

It hasn’t been the same since.

Could God have caused or allowed the things above to occur? Absolutely!

    Correction–

It was right-wing fundo Rev. John Hagee who said that Katrina was God’s was of stopping the New Orleans gay parade.

To which John McCain then said, “all I can tell you is that I am very proud to have Pastor John Hagee’s support.”

JH: All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they were recipients of the judgment of God for that.

The newspaper carried the story in our local area, that was not carried nationally, that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came. And the promise of that parade was that it would was going to reach a level of sexuality never demonstrated before in any of the other gay pride parades.

So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing. I know there are people who demur from that, but I believe that the Bible teaches that when you violate the law of God, that God brings punishment sometimes before the Day of Judgment, and I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans.

    ******

Falwell and Robertson did tie homosexuality and abortion to 9-11, however. http://www.actupny.org/YELL/falwell.html

JERRY FALWELL: And I agree totally with you that the Lord has protected us so wonderfully these 225 years. And since 1812, this is the first time that we’ve been attacked on our soil and by far the worst results. And I fear, as Donald Rumsfeld, the Secretary of Defense, said yesterday, that this is only the beginning. And with biological warfare available to these monsters — the Husseins, the Bin Ladens, the Arafats — what we saw on Tuesday, as terrible as it is, could be miniscule if, in fact — if, in fact — God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve.

PAT ROBERTSON: Jerry, that’s my feeling. I think we’ve just seen the antechamber to terror. We haven’t even begun to see what they can do to the major population.

JERRY FALWELL: The ACLU’s got to take a lot of blame for this.

    PAT ROBERTSON: Well yes.

JERRY FALWELL: Throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way — all of them who have tried to secularize America — I point the finger in their face and say “you helped this happen.”

    PAT ROBERTSON: Well, I totally concur . . . .

Al-Maliki Warns Iraq May Not Sign US Forces Agreement
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has warned Iraq may not sign a status of forces agreement with the United States and will possibly ask US troops to leave when their UN mandate expires at the end of the year. The Bush administration is seeking to keep permanently more than fifty military bases in Iraq. It’s also insisting on continuing military campaigns without consultation with the Iraqi government and immunity for American soldiers and contractors. During a visit to Jordan, Maliki said the Bush administration is asking Iraq to give up too much sovereignty.

Nouri al-Maliki: “When we started the talks on August 26, we wanted an agreement between two completely sovereign countries, and when we went to the pact, we found that the US demands hugely infringe on the sovereignty of Iraq, and this we can never accept. We can’t extend the US forces permission to arrest Iraqis or to undertake the responsibility of fighting terrorism in an independent way or to keep Iraqi skies and waters open for themselves whenever they want.”

ALL the Alice’s Restaurant lyrics? Wow, I’m impressed!

Monkeyhawk, I listen to In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida quite often. Yes, all seventeen minutes and two seconds of it. That drum solo can’t be beat. And it’s so psychodelic! LOL

As for Dylan, I discovered one of my favorites was written by him. Garth Brooks made hit of it, and it was used in the movie Hope Floats. To Make You Feel My Love. But my favorite rendition of it is done by Mick McAuley & Winifred Horan, more known for their Irish folk music.

And my second fave Dylan is…

    Come gather ’round people
    Wherever you roam
    And admit that the waters
    Around you have grown
    And accept it that soon
You’ll be drenched to the bone.
    If your time to you
    Is worth savin’
    Then you better start swimmin’
Or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’.

    Come writers and critics
    Who prophesize with your pen
    And keep your eyes wide
    The chance won’t come again
    And don’t speak too soon
For the wheel’s still in spin
    And there’s no tellin’ who
    That it’s namin’.
    For the loser now
    Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin’.

    Come senators, congressmen
    Please heed the call
    Don’t stand in the doorway
    Don’t block up the hall
    For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
    There’s a battle outside
    And it is ragin’.
    It’ll soon shake your windows
    And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’.

    Come mothers and fathers
    Throughout the land
    And don’t criticize
    What you can’t understand
    Your sons and your daughters
    Are beyond your command
    Your old road is
    Rapidly agin’.
Please get out of the new one
If you can’t lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin’.

    The line it is drawn
    The curse it is cast
    The slow one now
    Will later be fast
    As the present now
    Will later be past
    The order is
    Rapidly fadin’.
    And the first one now
    Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin’.

McCain: Gitmo Ruling One of Court’s “Worst Decisions” Ever

Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain said the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on Guantanamo is “one of the worst decisions in the history of this country.” Last week, the Court ruled that prisoners held indefinitely at Guantanamo have a right to challenge their detention in US courts. McCain said, “Our first obligation is the safety and security of this nation and the men and women who defend it. This decision will harm our ability to do that.” McCain also criticized his main rival Barack Obama for supporting the court’s decision.

He had a special, slightly-scratched copy of “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” what would skip back a groove in the middle of the drum solo, thereby making it a perpetual play, if needed. He’d put it on the turntable and we’d go on a liquor store run, out for burgers, whatever. And when we got back, he gently nudged the tonearm. I think our record was a forty-five minute version.

See, that’s the problem: how does anyone know what crime they have committed without a trial?

You CONs don’t need no steenkin’ legal system. You already KNOW they’re guilty . . . somehow. Mind readers, apparently.

Unfortunately, that’s a logical fallacy called “question begging.” You can’t assume they’re guilty when the whole point of a trial is to (the question to be answered) is “are they guilty?”

Without a trial, the only thing you or I or anyone can know about the prisoners at Gitmo is that they are prisoners at Gitmo. Their guilt cannot be determined until a trial, by definition of legal guilt.

‘Habeas corpus’ (IPA: /?he?bi?s ?k??p?s/) (Latin: [We command] that you have the body)[1] is the name of a legal action, or writ, through which a person can seek relief from unlawful detention of himself or another person. The writ of habeas corpus has historically been an important instrument for the safeguarding of individual freedom against arbitrary state action.

The right to petition for a writ of habeas corpus has long been celebrated as the most efficient safeguard of the liberty of the subject. Albert Venn Dicey wrote that the Habeas Corpus Acts “declare no principle and define no rights, but they are for practical purposes worth a hundred constitutional articles guaranteeing individual liberty.”

No parkin’ by the sewer sign
    Hot dog, my razors broke

But I dont care, let it all hang out

Hangin’ from a pine tree by my knees
Sun is shinin’ through the shade
Nobody knows what its all about
It’s too much, man, let it all hang out

Saw a man walkin’ upside down

Sorry ’bout that, let it all hang out

Sleep all day, drive all night
Brain my numb, can’t stop now
    For sure ain’t no doubt
Keep an open mind, let it all hang out

It’s rainin’ inside a big brown moon
How does that mess you baby up, leg
Eatin’ a Reuben sandwich with sauerkraut
Don’t stop now, baby, let it all hang out

    Let it all hang out

    GARTH BROOKS LYRICS

    “We Shall Be Free”

This ain’t comin’ from no prophet
    Just an ordinary man
When I close my eyes I see
The way this world shall be
When we all walk hand in hand

When the last child cries for a crust of bread
When the last man dies for just words that he said
When there’s shelter over the poorest head
    We shall be free

When the last thing we notice is the color of skin
And the first thing we look for is the beauty within
When the skies and the oceans are clean again
    Then we shall be free

    We shall be free
    We shall be free
    Stand straight, walk proud
    ‘Cause we shall be free
When we’re free to love anyone we choose
When this world’s big enough for all different views
When we all can worship from our own kind of pew
    Then we shall be free
    We shall be free

    We shall be free
    Have a little faith
    Hold out
    ‘Cause we shall be free

And when money talks for the very last time
And nobody walks a step behind
When there’s only one race and that’s mankind
    Then we shall be free

    We shall be free
    We shall be free
Stand straight, walk proud, have a little faith, hold out
    We shall be free

    We shall be free
    We shall be free
Stand straight, have a little faith

    We shall be free

This should be taught in our Schools!

A Good story for kids….and politicians. A good story you can tell
even your youngest child and they will know the difference between a
liberal Democrat and a conservative Republican.

I remember the time that Catherine, one of my daughter’s friends when
she was little, told me that she wanted to be President one day. Both
of her parents are liberal Democrats and were standing there with us
    – and I asked Catherine, “If you were President what would be the
    first thing you would do”?

Catherine replied, “I would give houses to all the homeless people”.
“Wow, what a worthy goal you have there, Catherine, I told her, you
don’t have to wait until you are President to do that, you can come
over to my house and clean up all the dog poop in the back yard and I
will pay you $5″. “Then we can go over to the grocery store where
the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $5 to use toward
the purchase of a new house”.

Catherine, who was about 4, thought that over for a second, while her
mom looked at me, and Catherine replied, “Why doesn’t the homeless
guy come over and clean up the dog poop and you can pay him the $5″?

Welcome to the Republican Party, Catherine!

agreed chas. However, nobody is ever forced into a situation where there is no possibility of working for themselves. No matter what a person’s position, there is always a chance.

With regard to money without working, there are many reasonable expeptions that even the most anal republican would agree to (disabled veterans, militay retirees, entrepreneurs, etc)

Freedom is a very insecure position. In my view, freedom and security are always contra-lateral to one another. ( i.e. a person can’t have more of one without having less of the other)

I taught my son and his little friends about Republicans vs. Democrats. My son was about 8 I guess.

I gave each of them 10 cents short of enough change to buy a treat from the ice cream truck. Except for my son. I gave him enough for ice cream and enough pennies to make up the difference for his friends.

Then, I told my son, your friends have to do whatever you say. If they please you, give them a penny.

My son VERY quickly turned into a pint sized dictator or CEO. He had them tying and untying his shoes, kissing his foot, doing dances, standing on their heads, calling each other names and hitting each other! My son was laughing so hard he could hardly talk. I did not like where this was going and it was going there fast. We are talking less than 15 minutes.

Nobody got enough to buy ice cream before the truck came by. But I didn’t let my son buy ice cream either.

Then I told my son and his friends. Nathan has been acting like a Republican. Let me show you how a Democrat does things. I collected up ALL the change and walked with the kids to the store where we bought 2 boxes of ice cream treats. Enough for everyone to have two treats with some left over!

The kids tripped over one another being nice about who would get the extras.

When it was all over, I asked the kids “Are we Democrats or Republicans?”

Really Clark? Jesus a Socialist? I think not.

    Matthew 25

14For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

15And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

16Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

17And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.

19After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

23His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

24Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

27Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

30And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Okay. This is a beaut –

I got this off the website for the newspaper in the town I grew up. It’s about a candidates’ forum over the weekend.

Bill Otto is the current Republic Party incumbent.

“Anyone who voted against Holcomb should not be re-elected,” Otto said. “If carbon dioxide is an imminent threat to our health, then he (Bremby) should have banned carbonated beverages, too.”
Otto said soft drinks are more dangerous to people’s health than the pollution caused by the CO2 emissions from coal plants.

Your child’s friends had to do what he dictated them to do, or they didn’t get ice cream.

Then when things weren’t going as you so desired, you stopped the whole thing. Then you took all of them to the grocery store and bought more ice cream than what you could get at the ice cream truck, with the same amount of money.

    Great post JR!

    1) Democrats first take everyone’s money.

    2) Next, Democrats decide what everyone should have.

    3) Then, the Democrats “give” everyone what they should have.

You’ve gone beyond Socialism though. Your massive redistribution of wealth from each according to their ability to each according to their need – is Communist.

No wonder JR is proud of buring the American flag in front of his son!

The Bible: Work or Don’t Eat

One thing I love about the Bible is that it takes a hard stand on people who try to just “get by” and feed off others without doing a lick of work themselves. Here’s my favorite verse on this topic:

For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.” 2 Thessalonians 3:10

Yep, don’t work, don’t eat. I think that says it all.

Notice that it doesn’t say that those who CAN NOT work should not eat. No, we should have compassion on and help out those people. But if someone can work, yet WILL NOT work, then he’s left to the consequences of his actions (or inactions in this case).

Here are a couple other verses on this same line of thinking:

Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth. Proverbs 10:4

How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest — and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man. Proverbs 6:9-11

So get out there and work! Or find a way to survive without eating. ;-)

You’re just torqued because I pegged you as a hypocrite.

You put out a call for all Americans to come together to support the Libertarian cause.

Which I reduced down and very quickly to “Let’s us all get together and defend what sol has!”

In YOUR version of my little experiment, all the kids would be expected to defend your right to be the only one who could afford ice cream.

    Uhm, BlueJay,

No. Everything you posted was incorrect. And I don’t see any hypocrisy in my post.

I put out a call for all Americans to stand up and be heard. Demand that your representatives follow your voice and obey the constitution. That would require work, BJ, something you seem loath to do. That would require effort and everyone’s part, equally. Something again you are loath to do.

Which you reduced down to… Don’t even know where that came from. It has nothing to do with what I do or don’t have. Nor what you do or don’t have. It is a call to defend the constitution.

In my version of your experiment, the kids would have had the opportunity to earn money for ice cream. Once earned it would have been there’s to do with as they pleased. Exactly what I do with my kids today.

That, BJ is called teaching them life lessons. Earn money. Spend your own money. Pretty simple isn’t it?

You have serious issues BJ. You play with your kid’s head WAY too much.

You still haven’t shown that your original post about not working and being provided for wasn’t a call for the government to care for you should you choose not to work. I went back and provided links to your posts. Nothing was explained (see upthread http://blogs.kansas.com/weblog/2008/06/open-thread-616/#comment-369483 ). You still haven’t provided anything but that you want to not work, yet have someone provide for you.

“Really Clark? Jesus a Socialist? I think not.”

Jesus and the Disciples did not work during His ministry – they relied on the charity of the people they visited.

    Luke 10:4

“4 Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals; and salute no one on the road. 5 Whatever house you enter, first say, `Peace be to this house!’ 6 And if a son of peace is there, your peace shall rest upon him; but if not, it shall return to you. 7 And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages; do not go from house to house.”

Dear John Letter (to the devil)

Oh I used to love you
But now that’s hard to do
    ‘Cause I got some information
‘Bout the evil things at night that you do
Now the whole thing is through (we’re through)
    Oh you’re such a devil
How’d you get me to believe you were true

    Oh my momma warned me
    And how my daddy cried
The day I left my home
You said you’d always keep me satisfied
But oh how you lied (you lied)
Well I should have heard my momma’s words
But then I guess I had to much pride (original sin)

    First Chorus

I used to lie awake at night
And see your face on the ceilin’
    What a bad a feelin’ I have
When I think of how you almost got me
In the ways of the world
In the ways of the world

My so-called friends said I misjudged you
    My anger’s all in vain
But I’m afraid you got to them
Before I had a chance to explain
And it caused me such pain (ouch!)
‘Cause they were such good friends of mine
But now you’ve got them playin’ you game (you creep)

    First Chorus

    Well I believe in Jesus
And what he said he’s gonna do
He’ll put an apple in your lyin mouth
And cook you in a sulfer stew
    One that’ll never be through
    (Is it soup yet? No)
Ah, but if he hadn’t rescued me
Then I’d be down there cookin’ too
Oh if Jesus hadn’t rescued me
Then I’d be cookin’ right next to you

    Second Chorus

I used to lie awake at night
And see your face on the ceilin’
What a great feelin’ I have
When I think of how you’re gonna get yours
At the end of the world
At the end of the world
Oh at the end of the world

The kid’s mom was REAL defensive. “Well? My son didn’t LIE did he? There is no Santa Clause.”

Perryman said “he based his case on the research that he gathered during the past five years while writing the three editions of his latest book:

The Democrat’s 210 years of racist practices and cover ups not only negatively affected the entire Black Race; but these practices infected our entire nation with the most contagious and debilitating social disease known to mankind, racism. Thomas Jefferson had sex with one slave woman, Sally Hemings, after his wife died. He was very close to his wife and her death devastated him.

Jefferson knew that owning slaves was wrong, yet he lacked the courage to buck the system that was so profitable and well-established. Hence, his guilt-racked conflicts.

Jefferson is a perfect example of the effects of slavery in America–we know it’s wrong, we knew it was wrong, but we pretend like it never happened and we don’t have to do anything about it.

As far as the little discussion about the use of the word “gay”, let me just point out that this used to be a fine word used in many classic poems, songs and other writings. This word was appropriated (stolen) by homos as a description of their perverted lifestyle. They ruined all of this fine writing.

So, I have no sympathy for anyone who whines about the “misuse” of the stolen word “gay”.

Another idiotic post. Beginning with the civil war deaths and war injuries mean nothing to Capn. Our country paid a price for freedom of the slavery, which was accepted throughout history beforehand.
    For centuries.

We have paid a price ever since. We are still paying a price. Nothing ever done about it?!!!!

You are clueless Capn. The ONLY reason we know of Jefferson’s indiscretion with ONE slave woman is DNA testing two hundred years later.

You can “thoroughly” check the life of Christ today, but that will NOT give you the truth.

Let me give you another examnple of indiscretion. Bill Clinton got a blow job which became public in the media world of today. From there, we learned of Jennifer and a a few OTHER women he abused.

There was not media watchdog in 1801. Not in 1810 either.

The guy OWNED slaves. He bought and traded black people. He broke up families. He housed them in slave quarters without floors. He screwed each and every female slave he wanted.

You don’t trust Bush with today’s technology, but you hold the past presidents as idealists?

“This word [gay] was appropriated (stolen) by homos”

    Incorrect as usual, outlander.

“Gay ladies” was a euphamism for prostitutes at least since the 1890’s. It apparently jumped from prostitutes to homosexuals later on. There’s no evidence that gays “appropriated” the term. It was an epitet of derision from the first which the gays then chose to embrace to take the sting out of the word.

Yeah, Regular. I read history too.

The Democratic Party of 1865 was a bunch of racist pigs.

It stayed that way well into the 40’s, until Truman de-segregated the military and Hubert Humphrey came out with his equal rights plank.

    Oh contraire Capn,

According to Reverend Perryman Democrats are still racist pigs as they refuse to apologize.
    ==============================================

The Democrats Refused to Apologize for their Racist Past

Rev. Wayne Perryman of Seattle, who is taking his case against the Democrat Party to the United States Supreme Court. According to his release, “The case was originally filed in 2004 after the DNC refused to apologize to African Americans for their support of slavery and Jim Crow. Unlike other Reparation cases, Perryman is not demanding money, only a public apology….</i<

Unveiling the whole Truth: What the media failed to tell American voters By Rev. Wayne Perryman http://www.wayneperryman.com

This bold, well-documented new book by Wayne Perryman puts the spotlight on the media, demonstrating that those who cover the news are no friends of black people. Among the salient points in Perryman books that run counter to what is reported in the news are some startling facts:

*Democrats were among the first to declare that Saddam Hussein had WMD’s.
*Bringing our troops home from Iraq now, as the Democrats demand, would result in an unmitigated disaster for America.
*The so-called separation of church and state doctrine is not a Constitutional mandate.
*Liberals played the race card to launch the abortion movement in America.
*The conditions that resulted in the hurricane *Katrina disaster started long before President Bush took office.
*President Bush is a true friend of blacks and the poor.

    ** from Rev. Perryman’s book.

There’s nothing in the historical record that I know of that suggests that Jefferson had a relationship with more than one slave woman. If you find a credible source, I’d be interesting in reading it.

It looks like duh Dems have no answer to give for their apology without qualifying it first like the Capn.

It appears the Democrats have no spine to apologize to the Black people of the United States for their racist past.

The Democratic Party has kept inner city blacks cooped up in their social programs ghettos in perpetuity. Keeping the black man down with subtle racist policies that reminds the black man they are inferior and can’t make it on their own. The Democrats remind the black man they need special appointments and points awarded to make it into universities or special positions.

The Democratic Party has developed covert and subtle racist policies to keep the black man down through socially engineered programs. It’s segregration by economics and the idea that blacks cannot be treated as equals because the Democratic party won’t let equality happen because of their social programs that divide the blacks from the whites.

The Democratic Party are still racist and keep the black vote, because blacks have become dependant on their new Master’s hand to keep and feed them.

The Democratic Party doesn’t want the Black man to succeed, they want to keep him on a leash and under control.

As now, they have Senator Obama on a leash, they hold him sacred as some prize, protecting him from those by using the racist card.

When, in actuality, it is the unapologetic Democrats who are keeping the black men and women in stasis, immobile and unable to break their emotional and mental bonds of their new Democratic party Masters.

That is a very good question Clark.

In the Senate, only 69% of Democrats (46 for, 21 against) voted for the Civil Rights Act as compared to 82% of Republicans in 1964. Interestly, Al Gore Sr. voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Al Gore Sr. participated in a 74 day day democrats filibuster against the Act.

Republicans have not done a good job at deflecting lies and distortions of the truth.

This apology crap means nothing. It’s all a chance to get people riled up again.

Our nation endorsed and participated in slavery. Like many other nations two hundred years ago. It was ALL wrong.

If the white posters here feel they need to apologize, then by all means go up to every black person you see and say, “I’m sorry”.

But it means nothing. It was our nations history. Those slaves are all gone. They children endured discrimination MOST of us cannot even realize. It didn’t end in 1964 with the Civil Rights Act. It continues in some quarters even today.

Are you going to apoligize to them next?

It ain’t over. I see it everyday and deal with it every day. How you ask? Because one of my best buddies is black.

    Case No. 06-1107

    Dear Justices of the United States Supreme Court (or direct it to a specific Justice);

I am a resident of (city___________, (state)________________ and I am well aware of the class action case filed by Rev. Wayne Perryman on behalf of himself and the African American Citizens of the United States.

This case is not about partisan politics or an effort to inflict harm on the Democratic Party. It is about addressing a wrong that is long overdue. This case is not only important to African Americans, it is important to our entire country. I like many others from across the country, fully support this case and ask that you give this historic landmark case your most earnest consideration.

How many Republicans are willing to sign on to such legislation?? Why Should it NOT be an apology from the NATION….??? It was the NATION that tolerated the damned perverted crap to begin with… LONG before the Civil War….

It was the NATION… even the FOUNDERS who tolerated perverted conditions and treatment of Blacks…

Why should it be ONLY the Democrats who issue such an apology?? Hell, James, there wasnt even a Democratic Party when the earliest slaves were brought here… Not a Republican Party either!!

And IIRC, the dumb-butt Andrew Johnson, was a Southerner to start with!! It is the NATION who owes the Black citizens the apology… Get the Republicans to sign on, and that legislation will pass without opposition (my prediction)….

    Dear Hank Price,

Thank you for some more laughs. I noticed that your buddy Paul MacRae includes a wiki link, which contradicts his false claim re CO2.

“Changes in CO2 levels follow global temperature changes by several hundred years. CO2 doesn’t drive the climate, at least not in the recent geological past. And the roller-coaster ride of glacials (cold times) and interglacials (warm times) are almost certainly caused by “changes in solar intensity” due to something called the Milankovitch [link below] cycles.”
    ———

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milankovitch_cycles
“The Milankovitch theory[1] of climate change is not perfectly worked out; in particular, the largest observed response is at the 100,000-year timescale, but the forcing is apparently small at this scale, in regard to the ice ages. Various feedbacks (from carbon dioxide, or from ice sheet dynamics) are invoked to explain this discrepancy.”
    ———

    ROFL!!!

A more detailed scientific explanation is at,

‘The lag between temperature and CO2. (Gore’s got it right.)’
    http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2007/04/the-lag-between-temp-and-co2

    And Hank Price,

A record El Nino aided AGW warming in 1998. Today, La Nina and a solar minimum are helping to mask AGW.

Military lawyers objected to harsh methods in 2002 By ANNE FLAHERTY, Associated Press Writer
    2 hours, 24 minutes ago

WASHINGTON – Military lawyers warned against the harsh detainee interrogation techniques approved by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld in 2002, contending in separate memos weeks before Rumsfeld’s endorsement that they could be illegal, a Senate panel has found.

The investigation by the Senate Armed Services Committee also has confirmed that senior administration officials, including the Pentagon’s then-general counsel William “Jim” Haynes, sought the help of military psychologists early on to devise the more aggressive methods — which included the use of dogs, making a detainee stand for long periods of time and forced nudity, according to officials familiar with the findings.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the information has not been formally released. Details, including the names of the service lawyers who objected to the interrogation techniques, were to be discussed at an open committee hearing Tuesday.

In re; Wayne Perryman & African American Citizens of the United States v. Democratic National Committee

    Case No. 06-1107

    Dear Justices of the United States Supreme Court (or direct it to a specific Justice);

    From Reverend Wayne Perryman’s Website:

Why are most blacks in America Democrats?

You will have to answer that question yourself. After reading this book, you will understand that:

for over 150 years, blacks were victims of terrorist attacks by the Democrats and their Klan supporters, including lynching, beating, rapes and mutilations

On the issue of slavery, the Democrats literally gave their lives to expand it; the Republicans gave their lives to ban it.

Many believed the Democrats had a change of heart and fell in love with blacks. To the contrary, history reveals the democrats didn’t fall in love with black folks,

they (the Democratic Party) fell in love with the black vote knowing this would be their ticket into the white house.

Talk about question begging, you are deliberately ignoring the point. The descendents of the people who opposed the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act are Republicans. They became Republicans, in large part, because “one of their own”, Johnson, was so relentless in pushing the Act through. When southern Democrats like Wallace failed to defeat Johnson in 1964 and (eventually) McGovern in 1968, they went Republican.

As for the southern Democrats who opposed the Civil Rights Act, I strongly feel they were wrong, of course. And the Republicans who supported it were right. But to apply that to the demographics of the parties as they are now is again, to be either ignorant or willfully disingenuous. Since you avoided the point I was making in favor of a specious rhetorical question, in your case I am going with the willful disingenuous.

Senator Obama turns his back on African Americans.

On January 12th and 13th of 2006 several key members of the Democratic Party were faxed a letter informing them of the lawsuit and requesting their assistance in obtaining an apology, but none responded. Among those who received the fax were: Senator Barack Obama, Senator Joseph Biden, Senator Barbara Boxer, Senator Mary Landrieu, Senator Hillary Clinton, Congressman John Conyers, , and Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. to name a few.

The Democratic Party Lynching Party Members

Lynching in the United States is the practice in the 19th and 20th centuries of the humiliation and killing of people by mobs acting outside the law. These murders, most of them unpunished, often took the form of hanging and burning. To demonstrate a ritual of power, mobs sometimes tortured the victim.

Lynching became highly associated with Southern efforts to retain and enforce white supremacy after their defeat in the American Civil War. In their defeat, Southern whites resisted allowing full legal and civil rights to African Americans. The aftermath of war increased social and economic volatility. The formal end of the war meant that groups shifted to insurgent means to try to resist Federal occupation and changes to the law.

The changes in civil rights of freedmen in the short Reconstruction that immediately followed the Civil War, and then again later in the mid-20th century, aroused anxieties among white citizens about African-American political power. African-American citizens and white allies were lynched during both these periods. Lynchings of civil rights workers during the 1960s in Mississippi galvanized public support for the Civil Rights Movement and legislation

Below are the list of Mississippi Governors during the lifetimes of most reading this blog, all of the Democratic Party who reigned during vicious lynchings in their Democratic Party controlled state.

    Hugh L. White January 22, 1952 January 17, 1956 Democratic
    James P. Coleman January 17, 1956 January 19, 1960 Democratic
    Ross R. Barnett January 19, 1960 January 21, 1964 Democratic
    Paul B. Johnson, Jr. January 21, 1964 January 16, 1968 Democratic
John Bell Williams January 16, 1968 January 18, 1972 Democratic

I leave you tonight with quotes and actions of Democratic Party Leaders.

Blacks “are inferior to the whites in the endowments of both of body and mind.

Thomas Jefferson, 1787, Co-founder of the Democratic Party along with Andrew Jackson)
    President, 1801-09

Democrat President John F. Kennedy is lauded as a civil rights advocate. In reality, Kennedy voted against the 1957 Civil rights Act while he was a senator, as did Democrat Senator Al Gore, Sr. After he became president, John F. Kennedy opposed the 1963 March on Washington by Dr. King that was organized by A. Phillip Randolph who was a black Republican. President Kennedy, through his brother Attorney General Robert Kennedy, had Dr. King wiretapped and investigated by the FBI on suspicion of being a Communist in order to undermine Dr. King.

“Everybody likes to go to Geneva. I used to do it for the Law of the Sea conferences and you’d find these potentates from down in Africa, you know, rather than eating each other, they’d just come up and get a good square meal in Geneva.”

    Can you build it?

    “Yes, we can.”

    Sounds like Bob the Builder.

Do you know how to build it?

    “Yes, we can.”

What about the price of Gas?

    “Yes, we can.”

How about all the tax increases you propose?

    “Yes, we can.”

    The new Democratic Party Mantra:

    “Yes, we can.”

What about pulling out the troops in Iraq?

    “Yes, we can.”

What about the Democratic party being the recipient of the most money from millionaires?

    “Yes, we can.”

What happened to the party of the people?

    “Yes, we can.”

    Will you overtax the people?

    “Yes, we can!”

And put them in harms way?

    “Yes, we can!”

    Will you negotiate with terrorists?

    “Yes, we can!”

Will you try to appease terrorists and our enemies like Chamberlain did before WWII?

    “Yes, we can!”

What states or territories are you going to give away to appease them?

    “Yes, we can!”

    Gee, MELTDOWN!!!! Needle is stuck!!!

    ALERT!! ALERT!!

‘Merican has suffered a major meltdown… His posts can be ignored until further notice from the Editors!!!

    Get a LIFE ‘Merican!!! Geez!!!

  385. Posted June 17, 2008 at 4:23 am | Permalink

Very soon now, in November, many people will have to be held accountable for their racist views, no matter how subtle they have been; they are still quite evident, as is clearly seen in the rantings of the crazed ‘Merican’s totally outrageous rantings on many threads on this Blog yesterday… Accountability will come hard for many… But it will come… And when this great nation steps into the unknown, and elects a candidate filled with Hope and Awe, and Wonder… A candidate who has the audacity to tell us: Yes We Can pull this country together… When we find this candidate sitting in the Oval Office, in January, 2009…. Then will come the accountability…

How much of an American are all of you hate filled racists, and bigots who have called Obama everything but a white man (pun intended) going to be then?? Or will you try to flame and rant and rave that your rights are being threatened??

How much of an American will you be when it becomes absolutely CLEAR that we DO need some forms of gun control… not to take away your precious extensions of your manhood (in your mind, of course) — but to make damned sure we keep track of the movement of these weapons of Death…

And how much of an American will you be when you find out that you really dont control the way people will Believe in their faith??

And how much of an American will you be when you are told, by law, that YES we WILL provide health care to all… from the smallest to the largest… from the richest to the poorest… male/female; gay/straight; old/young; working or not; Health Care… one of those basic little things that ALL Americans need, and DESERVE to have…. as human beings!!

And how much of an American will you be when you get it through your heads that Women WILL have reproductive rights, whether the sexist males of this country LIKE it or not… that unwanted pregnancies CAN be lessened… not by abortions… but by caring, and education, and helping hearts and hands…. And yes, by allowing those who NEED abortions, the opportunity to seek out that procedure… and those who have religious beliefs opposing such a procedure… GET OVER IT!! It’s LEGAL!!

Will you still be Americans then?? All of you Reich Wingers?? You hate filled fear mongers, afraid of things that have never happened yet, and most likely never will??

When two consenting adults, unrelated, can join in the bonds of matrimony…. Even when SOME folks dont believe in such a thing because of their religious beliefs…

And if you DONT believe in it, well, dont DO IT in your religious group!! And leave the rest of the people who DO believe in it alone!! Or will you turn to HATE crimes, and plaster your flags and crosses over the crime scenes, and call it God’s WILL??

Come November, we will find out how much an American many of you really are!! I HOPE and I PRAY that we will come together as AMERICANS… and show the WORLD that out of diversity, yet we can display UNITY as Citizens of the UNITED States!!!

Probably nobody will read this… and perhaps that is as it should be… But at least it is posted to the Blog… and if only one or two read, and THINK… then the purpose of this post will be served….

God Bless…. So mote it be!!

Actually Brother Chas, not much will happen in November that will change anything in regards to racist views.

Unless they change the Constitution, organizations like KKK and the Nazi party are allowed to have outlandish racist views as they wish.

Part of the society we live that freedom allows.
