LA governor Lindel wants to teach the myth of creationism (AKA creation science, AKA intelligent design) alongside scientific facts like evolution.
For those who, like Lindel, who are clueless about evolution and need to start from the beginning there’s a great video explaining abiogenesis (and why it isn’t the theory of natural selection). If anything the music is great.

Speaking of great music……….
Tomorrow is an important day, because Coldplay is releasing their long-awaited fourth CD – titled “Viva La Vida.” And I can’t freaking wait.
Coldplay, like many bands today, releases a new CD every three years. Unlike the Beatles’ and Stones’ 1960s heyday which saw one or two new LPs unleashed every year, it’s a different world today.
And the music fan simply has to wait.
From what I’ve read, Coldplay’s latest offering is kick-a^$. Their first CD was killer. The second, the aptly-titled “A Rush of Blood to the Head”, included the shimmering “Clocks.” 2005’s XYZ (I may have gotten the title wrong) was excellent, too.
And I’ve heard this fourth effort bests ‘em all.
I won’t be able to purchase it until Friday (payday). But purchase it I shall.
I don’t hold it against Chris Martin that his wifey-poo ill deserved the 1999 Oscar for the insipid “Shakespeare in Love.” I guess that means I’m a big girl now.
When one accesses Fox News’ website this morning, the following atrocity assails one’s senses:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,367243,00.html
Let us enact a running countdown – let us wonder how quickly the anti-abortion activists among us will rush to condemn this crime. Because it’s different. It’s not your average demon – or demoness, as it were.
It was committed by a male.
The gender of this murderer makes no difference, in my view. The despicable crime – and its tragic conclusion – remains undiminished.
Randall Terry is, at this moment, penning his third installment to his twee trilogy/manifesto. I wonder how much this story will resonate with him? It probably won’t resonate at all; coveting one’s own vainglory is a labored (no pun intended) affair. Because he really, really loves himself.
He’s really, really into him.
I guess my inner bee-y-itch is comin’ out. I still haven’t recovered from that d-che-wiperage who wholly exonerated my own rapist from any malfeasance therein. I then wholly abandoned whatever good breeding, gentility and grace I possess – and spoke my mind with assertion.
Anyway, I’ve got my stopwatch primed and ready. And I’m countin’ down the epochs till we see a right-to-life response on this one………
Are you ready, are you ready?
Are you ready, are you ready?
Are you ready to meet Jesus?
Are you where you ought to be?
Will He know you when He sees you
Or will He say, “Depart from Me”?
Are you ready, hope you’re ready.
Am I ready, am I ready?
Am I ready, am I ready?
Am I ready to lay down my life for the brethren
And to take up my cross?
Have I surrendered to the will of God
Or am I still acting like the boss?
Am I ready, hope I’m ready.
When destruction cometh swiftly
And there’s no time to say a fare-thee-well,
Have you decided whether you want to be
In heaven or in hell?
Are you ready, are you ready?
Have you got some unfinished business?
Is there something holding you back?
Are you thinking for yourself
Or are you following the pack?
Are you ready, hope you’re ready.
Are you ready?
Are you ready for the judgment?
Are you ready for that terrible swift sword?
Are you ready for Armageddon?
Are you ready for the day of the Lord?
Are you ready, I hope you’re ready.
Words and Music by Bob Dylan
1980 Special Rider Music
God is the Light
How great the wonders of the heavens
And the timeless beauty of the night
How great – then how great the Creator?
And its stars like priceless jewels
Far beyond the reach of kings
Bow down for the shepherd guiding him home.
But how many eyes are closed
To the wonder of this night?
Like pearls, hidden, deep beneath a dark
Stream of desires.
But like dreams vanish with the call to prayer
And the dawn extinguishes night – here too are signs.
God is the Light – God is the Light
How great the beauty of the Earth and the creatures
Who dwell on her.
How great – then how great the Creator?
As its mountains pierce the clouds
High above the lives of men
Weeping rivers for thousands of years.
But how many hearts are closed
To the wonders of this sight?
Like birds in a cage, asleep with closed wings
But like work stops with the call to prayer
And the birds reside – here too are signs
God is the Light – God is the Light
How great the works of man and the things he makes
How great – then how great the Creator?
Though he strives to reach the heavens
He can barely survive
The wars of the world he lives in.
Yet, how many times he’s tried,
Himself to immortalise?
Like his parents before him in the Garden of Eden
But like the sun sets with the call to prayer
And surrenders to the night here too are signs
God is the Light Everlasting
God is the Light Everlasting
God is the Light Everlasting
God is the Light Everlasting

Morning Has Broken
By: Cat Stevens
Morning has broken, like the first morning.
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird.
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning,
Praise for them springing fresh from the Word.
Sweet the rain’s new fall, sunlit from heaven.
Like the first dewfall, on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetnes of the wet garden,
Sprung in completeness where His feet pass.
Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning.
Born of the one light Eden saw play.
Praise with elation, praise every morning;
God’s recreation of the new day.
Morning has broken, like the first morning.
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird.
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning,
Praise for them springing fresh from the Word.
Now I’ve been happy lately
Thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be
Something good has begun
I’ve been smiling lately
Dreaming about the world as one
And I believe it could be
Something good’s bound to come
For out on the edge of darkness
There runs the peace train
Peace train take this country
Come take me home again
Peace train sounding louder
Ride on the peace train
Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah
Come on the peace train
Peace train’s a holy roller
Everyone jump upon the peace train
Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah
This is the peace train
Get your bags together
Come bring your good friends too
Because it’s getting nearer
Soon it will be with you
Come and join the living
It’s not so far from you
And it’s getting nearer
Soon it will all be true
Peace train sounding louder
Ride on the peace train
Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah
Come on the peace train
I’ve been crying lately
Thinking about the world as it is
Why must we go on hating?
Why can’t we live in bliss?
For out on the edge of darkness
There rides the peace train
Peace train take this country
Come take me home again
Peace train sounding louder
Ride on the peace train
Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah
Come on the peace train
Come on, come on, come on the peace train…
Cat Stevens
Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks.
You that never done nothin’
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it’s your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly.
Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain.
You fasten all the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion’
As young people’s blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud.
[ Lyrics accessible from http://www.rare-lyrics.com ]
You’ve thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain’t worth the blood
That runs in your veins.
How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I’m young
You might say I’m unlearned
But there’s one thing I know
Though I’m younger than you
That even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do.
Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul.
And I hope that you die
And your death’ll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I’ll watch while you’re lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I’ll stand over your grave
‘Til I’m sure that you’re dead.
Bob Dylan
Sounds as if the guy was totally out of his mind. I can’t imagine someone who would intentionally do that to a baby.
I’m heartbroken, I’m angry, and I’m glad the police shot him. I don’t know how the standerby’s couldn’t have jumped the guy and stopped it unless they were all just small compared to the guy.
And someone else should have shot him. If there was ever and argument for concealed carry, god that has to be it.
“Singh said the coroner does not plan to confirm the identities of the suspect and victim until Monday. Because his injuries were so severe, the child will have to be identified through a blood or DNA test, he said.”
“let us wonder how quickly the anti-abortion activists among us will rush to condemn this crime”
-Flimfan
Perhaps Flimfan believes that the ire of pro-lifer is aimed at women. To the contrary. The moral abyss that our culture has fallen into has been hand dug by both males and females.
The “liberated” female who champions her right to an abortion is enthusiastically supported by her self serving male seducer who seeks only sexual gratification without the responsibility of loving his mate or his offspring. As a result, the right to an abortion is as much in the male’s shortsighted self interest as in the female’s.
The ugly truth is that the refusal by the inhabitants of our society both (male and female) to acknowledge the intrinsic humanity of an unborn baby reverberates into a refusal to respect the right to life of post-utero human beings as well.
The brutal acts against a toddler as detailed in flimfan’s link as well as the stories of baby dumping are justified if abortion is simply a medical procedure.
Such is the legacy of Roe V. Wade.
Come out Virginia, don’t let me wait
You Catholic girls start much too late
aw But sooner or later it comes down to fate
I might as well be the one
well, They showed you a statue, told you to pray
They built you a temple and locked you away
Aw, but they never told you the price that you pay
For things that you might have done…..
Only the good die young
thats what i said
only the good die young x2
You might have heard I run with a dangerous crowd
We ain’t too pretty we ain’t too proud
We might be laughing a bit too loud
aw But that never hurt no one
So come on Virginia show me a sign
Send up a signal I’ll throw you the line
The stained-glass curtain you’re hiding behind
Never lets in the sun
Darlin’ only the good die young
woah
i tell ya
only the good die young x2
You got a nice white dress and a party on your confirmation
You got a brand new soul
mmmm, And a cross of gold
But Virginia they didn’t give you quite enough information
You didn’t count on me
When you were counting on your rosary
(oh woah woah)
They say there’s a heaven for those who will wait
Some say it’s better but I say it ain’t
I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints
the Sinners are much more fun…
you know that only the good die young
oh woah baby
i tell ya
only the good die young, X2
You say your mother told you all that I could give you was a reputation
Aww She never cared for me
But did she ever say a prayer for me? oh woah woah
Come out come out come out virgina dont let me wait,
You catholic girls start much too late
Sooner or later it comes down to fate
I might as well be the one,
You know that only the good die young
I’m telling you baby
You know that only the good die young
Only the good die young
Only the gooooooooooooooood
Only the good die young
Only the gooooooooooooooood
Only the good die young
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooo oooooooooo…
And it’s 1 2 3 what are we fighting for
Don’t ask me I don’t give a sh**
Next stop is near Tikrit …
“I can’t imagine someone who would intentionally do that to a baby.”
-P_mama
Yeah, me neither.
If P_mama had an ounce of consistent logic, should would say the same thing about Tiller.
Human life has become so disposable in our culture…what’s the difference between beating a baby to death and crushing a baby’s skull before it’s born? One suffers as much as the other.
Rfl you said “The “liberated” female who champions her right to an abortion is enthusiastically supported by her self serving male seducer who seeks only sexual gratification without the responsibility of loving his mate or his offspring.
The brutal acts against a toddler as detailed in flimfan’s link as well as the stories of baby dumping are justified if abortion is simply a medical procedure.”
Boy do you have it wrong wrong wrong. The liberated female who champions her right to make her own MEDICAL decisions is just that..its not ONE issue, but many. Women and men don’t take this decision lightly, and every woman has different reasons. Some people are just not meant to be parents emotionally, some people are just physically not meant to be parents and some people are just not financially able to be parents. And some women are actually concerned for the CHILD. That might be hard for you to grasp, but some children live lives of pure pain.
You act as if abortion is all about getting rid of a byproduct of sex. And you act as if sex is only for procreation.
Abortions happened long before they were legal, and people killed children long before abortions were legal. One is not related to the other. I don’t know how you can compare beating to death a one year old and having an abortion. All abortions are done long before a baby has feeling or even able to live. I know you have literature that says differently, but your literature is wrong.
Not at all true Mary and you know it. The baby is dead by the time the skull is removed. And that is an extremely low percentage of abortions anyway.
You all act as if these kind of things didn’t happen before abortion was legal. Get real. There are people who are just not meant to be parents.
This guy had to either be jacked up or mentally ill. And yet, you think its a good idea to put children into that environment…and this is what happens when you do.
My two favorite Dylan tunes (it is difficult to pick I have to confess):
All along the watchtower
“There must be some way out of here,” said the joker to the thief,
“There’s too much confusion, I can’t get no relief.
Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth,
None of them along the line know what any of it is worth.”
“No reason to get excited,” the thief, he kindly spoke,
“There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we’ve been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late.”
All along the watchtower, princes kept the view
While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too.
Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl,
Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl.
Mr. Tambourine Man
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I’m not sleepy and there is no place I’m going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I’ll come followin’ you.
Though I know that evenin’s empire has returned into sand,
Vanished from my hand,
Left me blindly here to stand but still not sleeping.
My weariness amazes me, I’m branded on my feet,
I have no one to meet
And the ancient empty street’s too dead for dreaming.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I’m not sleepy and there is no place I’m going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I’ll come followin’ you.
Take me on a trip upon your magic swirlin’ ship,
My senses have been stripped, my hands can’t feel to grip,
My toes too numb to step, wait only for my boot heels
To be wanderin’.
I’m ready to go anywhere, I’m ready for to fade
Into my own parade, cast your dancing spell my way,
I promise to go under it.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I’m not sleepy and there is no place I’m going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I’ll come followin’ you.
Though you might hear laughin’, spinnin’, swingin’ madly across the sun,
It’s not aimed at anyone, it’s just escapin’ on the run
And but for the sky there are no fences facin’.
And if you hear vague traces of skippin’ reels of rhyme
To your tambourine in time, it’s just a ragged clown behind,
I wouldn’t pay it any mind, it’s just a shadow you’re
Seein’ that he’s chasing.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I’m not sleepy and there is no place I’m going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I’ll come followin’ you.
Then take me disappearin’ through the smoke rings of my mind,
Down the foggy ruins of time, far past the frozen leaves,
The haunted, frightened trees, out to the windy beach,
Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow.
Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free,
Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands,
With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves,
Let me forget about today until tomorrow.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I’m not sleepy and there is no place I’m going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I’ll come followin’ you.
Boortz has a good rant on environmentalist. and commies.
http://boortz.com/nuze/index.html
snip
Patrick Moore was the founder of Greenpeace. He called himself a “radical environmentalist.” Several years after founding Greenpeace Patrick Moore walked away. Moore said that the fall of communism brought a lot of anti-corporate extremism to the environmental movement. Here’s his explanation:
” ….. suddenly, the international peace movement had a lot less to do. Pro-Soviet groups in the West were discredited. Many of their members moved into the environmental movement, bringing with them their eco-Marxism and pro-Sandinista sentiments.
snip
Brazil has found some new massive oil deposits off shore. In this case the “environmentalists” aren’t fighting the recovery of the oil. And why would that be? Could it possibly be because the bulk of the money goes to the government and not private enterprise? Here’s a telling sentence from the story:
“Where government has the property right, restrictions on development tend to be low. But when the private sector is the owner, environmental concerns blossom.”
Now why would environmentalists even care? If their true concern was the environment, they wouldn’t. If their true concern was crippling free enterprise, they would.

But it rained again last night and it’s Monday and it’s slow.
Here’s a great song by the Bottle Rockets –
Thousand dollar car it ain’t worth nothin’
Thousand dollar car it ain’t worth shit.
Might as well take your $1000,
and set fire to it.
$1000 car ain’t worth a dime,
You lose your $1000 every time.
Oh why did I ever buy,
a $1000 car?
$1000 car is gonna let you down,
More than it’s ever gonna get you around.
Replace your gaskets and paint over your rust,
You’ll still end up with something that you’ll never trust.
$1000 car’s life was through,
‘bought 50,000 miles ‘fore it got to you.
Oh why did I ever buy,
a $1000 car?
A $1000 car ain’t even gonna roll,
til you throw at least another thousand in the hole.
Sink your money in it, and there you are
the owner of a 2,000 dollar 1,000 dollar car.
(guitar solo)
If you’ve only got a $1000.
You ought to just buy a good guitar.
Learn how to play it it’ll take you farther,
than any old $1000 car.
If a $1000 car was truly worth a damn,
then why would anybody ever spend ten grand.
Oh why did I ever buy,
a thousand dollar car?

“You suck worse!”
“You suck worstest!”

“Not at all true Mary and you know it. The baby is dead by the time the skull is removed. And that is an extremely low percentage of abortions anyway.”
Oh, MY bad…I guess the baby doesn’t feel the sissors getting shoved into the back of it’s head and the catheter sucking it’s brains out. Or a younger fetus can’t feel a needle stabbing it’s chest and having digoxin shot into it’s heart. Amazing how a fetus will react to pain on a sonogram, but when it comes to killing it, the pro abortion side will swear it can’t feel pain.
A fetus younger than full term can feel pain, no matter how much you deny it.
I guess my point is that we’re making a human being suffer and die, no matter which side of the skin it’s on, and that we as a culture accept the killing of innocent human life when it’s inconvenient or unwanted.
You don’t mind that pain of getting a shot when it is saving its life now do you? and you certainly don’t mind those children feeling pain from horrible conditions.
They also withdraw from being touched…which I could argue is painful since their skin is paper thin.
Wow. The fights between the water wholesale districts and agriculture have worked their way to the Ks Supremes. This is scary stuff, where, according to this article, the wholesale water district wants to use eminent domain to acquire water rights that they will essentially be using to “speculate” on water.
Keep your eye on this one. It’s outcome will have a huge effect on water issues. People forget, these decisions set the tone for future battles.
I dont like the looks of this one AT ALL!
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/K/KS_WATER_FIGHT_KSOL-?SITE=KSSAL&SECTION=STATE&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT
Funny, the WE doesnt cover these water issues in the business, or ag, or news sections. I ALWAYS have to go to the Salina Journal to get any information about what’s going on in the water wars.
And yet, PJ Griekspoor got ANOTHER opportunity to shill for ethanol today in the business section. She never met an industry press release on ethanol that she didnt mistake for news.
Remember, she’s the one who fawningly broke the “Story” (steve miller’s press release) about the “magic algae” lie at the Holcomb plant.
Phyllis, honey, why dont you just get on the payroll of Sunflower or the ethanol producers? Maybe the corn producers?
‘Cause you’re a great shill for them. But as an objective journalist, you are a great PR person…
Hee hee hee heeeeeeee!
JR, I just howled when I read your post. What a perfect response. This is one of my ALL TIME favorite verses from songs.
“They say there’s a heaven for those who will wait
Some say it’s better but I say it ain’t
I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints
the Sinners are much more fun…
you know that only the good die young”
I’d rather laugh here with the sinners than cry with the saints too!

How did this Senator get elected, and how did Obama ever get chosen as Dem. nominee for President???
Polished oratory and empty promises of “Change” just don’t cut it with Chris Matthews or with anybody else I would think.
Chris Matthews slam-dunked Texas Senator Kirk Watson, when he asked the
Senator for just one example of Obama’s legislative accomplishments. Want to
see a politician choke on national TV?…..watch this….
Well said! (not Wee said!) Typo.

Ephesians 5
1 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. 4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a man is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. 7 Therefore do not be partners with them.
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9(for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 BUT EVERYTHING EXPOSED BY THE LIGHT BECOMES VISIBLE (caps mine), 14 for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said:
“Wake up, O sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. 19 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
I remember watching that Boxlock (Obama having zero legislative accomplishments) and wonderered why anyone would put their faith into someone who has a zero track record.
Maybe it was that “articulate” thing.
I find that it is very disingenuous to defend abortion, and in particular, partial-birth abortion, on the one hand, because of “rights”, and yet at the same time to be apalled at the senseless murder of a small child on the other.
You are very welcome farmgrrl. I love that one too.
For me? The whole song encapsulates my take on some religious people. In some ways, they are so comfortable. ANYTHING happens and it’s “God’s will” so it’s ok. But in a lot of other ways, some religious people are really hung up. As I’m sure you know.
And then to justify abortion because it spares the child a terrible childhood like the one in the article.
In effect, you are saying that the child must be killed twice!
One, because you won’t be a good parent, cant afford it or aren’t emotionally able.
Two, because you won’t be a good parent, cant afford it or aren’t emotionally able.
Parent’s should (oh, that unpopular word, should) place the fetus, baby, infant or child as more important than themselves, because of the life it holds in itself.
“But in a lot of other ways, some religious people are really hung up. As I’m sure you know.”
Heh JR. As you always say, I’ve been on the SHARP end of THAT stick before!

You DO realize that the former Cat Stevens became a pious Muslim and now goes by the name of Yosuf Islam.
Right?
He also agreed that Salman Rushde should be killed for writing a fictional novel that included an unflattering reference to one of the Prophet’s (PBUH) wives.
So much for that “Peace Train” crap . . .
Music soothes the savage…
I dont know what the weather is doing down there, but thankfully, we’re getting some rain. It wont hurry the already late harvest along, but my garden and the pasture are dry, so bring it on!
Cant help but think of Irma Thomas’ “It’s Raining”. Ah.. the queen of Louisiana Soul. I had the pleasure of meeting her in Austin, and came away with an autographed cassette. (ok, I’m old!)
Here’s “It’s Raining”.

lyrics eh…
let’s see…
Well I saw the thing coming out of the sky
It had one long horn and one big eye
I commenced to shakin’ and I said oo-wee
It looks like a purple people eater to me
It was a one-eyed one-horned flying purple people eater
Sure looks good to me
Well, he came down to earth and he lit in a tree
I said mr Purple People Eater don’t eat me
I heard him say in a voice so gruff
I wouldn’t eat you ‘cos you’re too tough
It was a one-eyed one-horned flying purple people eater
It sure looks strange to me
I said mr Purple People Eater what’s your line
He said eating purple people and it sure is fine
But that’s not the reason that I came to land
I wanna get a job in a rock ‘n roll band
Well, bless my soul rock ‘n roll flying’ purple people eater
Pigeon-toed under-growed flyin’ purple people eater
one-eyed one-horned it was a people eater
What a sight to see
Well, he swung from the tree and he lit on the ground
he started to rock really rockin’ around
It was a crazy ditty with a swinging tune
Wop bop a lula wop bam boom
one-eyes one-horned flying people eater
Ooh, it sure looks strange to me
Well he went on his way and then what do you know
I saw him last night on a TV show
He was a blowin’ it out and really knockin’ them dead
Playing rock ‘n roll music through the horn in his head

I didn’t post the Peace Train. Check again above.
Yes, I new Cat had converted along time ago, but he had it right in his song(s) that I posted, as well as the ones of Bob Dylan I posted.
JR-KsGrrl,
Maybe one of the religious fundos can “explain me this”–
If New Orleans got smited down by a hurricane for planning a gay parade and New York got hit on 9-11 for abortion, why did a tornado level Greensburg, KS? And Andover before that? And Andale before that? And Hesston before that?
Why did God put Charles Krauthammer in a wheelchair? Why did God give Ronald Reagan Alzheimer’s disease and turn him into a slobbering vegetable? Why does He take Charleton Heston and spare Al Gore?

If Paul says God condemns “the greedy,” how do you Republicans have a hope in Hades of ever getting to Heaven?
Alice’s Restaurant
By Arlo Guthrie
This song is called Alice’s Restaurant, and it’s about Alice, and the
restaurant, but Alice’s Restaurant is not the name of the restaurant,
that’s just the name of the song, and that’s why I called the song Alice’s
Restaurant.
You can get anything you want at Alice’s Restaurant
You can get anything you want at Alice’s Restaurant
Walk right in it’s around the back
Just a half a mile from the railroad track
You can get anything you want at Alice’s Restaurant
Now it all started two Thanksgivings ago, was on – two years ago on
Thanksgiving, when my friend and I went up to visit Alice at the
restaurant, but Alice doesn’t live in the restaurant, she lives in the
church nearby the restaurant, in the bell-tower, with her husband Ray and
Fasha the dog. And livin’ in the bell tower like that, they got a lot of
room downstairs where the pews used to be in. Havin’ all that room,
seein’ as how they took out all the pews, they decided that they didn’t
have to take out their garbage for a long time.
We got up there, we found all the garbage in there, and we decided it’d be
a friendly gesture for us to take the garbage down to the city dump. So
we took the half a ton of garbage, put it in the back of a red VW
microbus, took shovels and rakes and implements of destruction and headed
on toward the city dump.
Well we got there and there was a big sign and a chain across across the
dump saying, “Closed on Thanksgiving.” And we had never heard of a dump
closed on Thanksgiving before, and with tears in our eyes we drove off
into the sunset looking for another place to put the garbage.
We didn’t find one. Until we came to a side road, and off the side of the
side road there was another fifteen foot cliff and at the bottom of the
cliff there was another pile of garbage. And we decided that one big pile
is better than two little piles, and rather than bring that one up we
decided to throw our’s down.
That’s what we did, and drove back to the church, had a thanksgiving
dinner that couldn’t be beat, went to sleep and didn’t get up until the
next morning, when we got a phone call from officer Obie. He said, “Kid,
we found your name on an envelope at the bottom of a half a ton of
garbage, and just wanted to know if you had any information about it.” And
I said, “Yes, sir, Officer Obie, I cannot tell a lie, I put that envelope
under that garbage.”
After speaking to Obie for about fourty-five minutes on the telephone we
finally arrived at the truth of the matter and said that we had to go down
and pick up the garbage, and also had to go down and speak to him at the
police officer’s station. So we got in the red VW microbus with the
shovels and rakes and implements of destruction and headed on toward the
police officer’s station.
Now friends, there was only one or two things that Obie coulda done at
the police station, and the first was he could have given us a medal for
being so brave and honest on the telephone, which wasn’t very likely, and
we didn’t expect it, and the other thing was he could have bawled us out
and told us never to be see driving garbage around the vicinity again,
which is what we expected, but when we got to the police officer’s station
there was a third possibility that we hadn’t even counted upon, and we was
both immediately arrested. Handcuffed. And I said “Obie, I don’t think I
can pick up the garbage with these handcuffs on.” He said, “Shut up, kid.
Get in the back of the patrol car.”
And that’s what we did, sat in the back of the patrol car and drove to the
quote Scene of the Crime unquote. I want tell you about the town of
Stockbridge, Massachusets, where this happened here, they got three stop
signs, two police officers, and one police car, but when we got to the
Scene of the Crime there was five police officers and three police cars,
being the biggest crime of the last fifty years, and everybody wanted to
get in the newspaper story about it. And they was using up all kinds of
cop equipment that they had hanging around the police officer’s station.
They was taking plaster tire tracks, foot prints, dog smelling prints, and
they took twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy photographs with circles
and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each
one was to be used as evidence against us. Took pictures of the approach,
the getaway, the northwest corner the southwest corner and that’s not to
mention the aerial photography.
After the ordeal, we went back to the jail. Obie said he was going to put
us in the cell. Said, “Kid, I’m going to put you in the cell, I want your
wallet and your belt.” And I said, “Obie, I can understand you wanting my
wallet so I don’t have any money to spend in the cell, but what do you
want my belt for?” And he said, “Kid, we don’t want any hangings.” I
said, “Obie, did you think I was going to hang myself for littering?”
Obie said he was making sure, and friends Obie was, cause he took out the
toilet seat so I couldn’t hit myself over the head and drown, and he took
out the toilet paper so I couldn’t bend the bars roll out the – roll the
toilet paper out the window, slide down the roll and have an escape. Obie
was making sure, and it was about four or five hours later that Alice
(remember Alice? It’s a song about Alice), Alice came by and with a few
nasty words to Obie on the side, bailed us out of jail, and we went back
to the church, had a another thanksgiving dinner that couldn’t be beat,
and didn’t get up until the next morning, when we all had to go to court.
We walked in, sat down, Obie came in with the twenty seven eight-by-ten
colour glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back
of each one, sat down. Man came in said, “All rise.” We all stood up,
and Obie stood up with the twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy
pictures, and the judge walked in sat down with a seeing eye dog, and he
sat down, we sat down. Obie looked at the seeing eye dog, and then at the
twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures with circles and arrows
and a paragraph on the back of each one, and looked at the seeing eye dog.
And then at twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures with circles
and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one and began to cry,
’cause Obie came to the realization that it was a typical case of American
blind justice, and there wasn’t nothing he could do about it, and the
judge wasn’t going to look at the twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy
pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each
one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against us. And
we was fined $50 and had to pick up the garbage in the snow, but thats not
what I came to tell you about.
Came to talk about the draft.
They got a building down New York City, it’s called Whitehall Street,
where you walk in, you get injected, inspected, detected, infected,
neglected and selected. I went down to get my physical examination one
day, and I walked in, I sat down, got good and drunk the night before, so
I looked and felt my best when I went in that morning. `Cause I wanted to
look like the all-American kid from New York City, man I wanted, I wanted
to feel like the all-, I wanted to be the all American kid from New York,
and I walked in, sat down, I was hung down, brung down, hung up, and all
kinds o’ mean nasty ugly things. And I waked in and sat down and they gave
me a piece of paper, said, “Kid, see the phsychiatrist, room 604.”
And I went up there, I said, “Shrink, I want to kill. I mean, I wanna, I
wanna kill. Kill. I wanna, I wanna see, I wanna see blood and gore and
guts and veins in my teeth. Eat dead burnt bodies. I mean kill, Kill,
KILL, KILL.” And I started jumpin up and down yelling, “KILL, KILL,” and
he started jumpin up and down with me and we was both jumping up and down
yelling, “KILL, KILL.” And the sargent came over, pinned a medal on me,
sent me down the hall, said, “You’re our boy.”
Didn’t feel too good about it.
Proceeded on down the hall gettin more injections, inspections,
detections, neglections and all kinds of stuff that they was doin’ to me
at the thing there, and I was there for two hours, three hours, four
hours, I was there for a long time going through all kinds of mean nasty
ugly things and I was just having a tough time there, and they was
inspecting, injecting every single part of me, and they was leaving no
part untouched. Proceeded through, and when I finally came to the see the
last man, I walked in, walked in sat down after a whole big thing there,
and I walked up and said, “What do you want?” He said, “Kid, we only got
one question. Have you ever been arrested?”
And I proceeded to tell him the story of the Alice’s Restaurant Massacre,
with full orchestration and five part harmony and stuff like that and all
the phenome… – and he stopped me right there and said, “Kid, did you ever
go to court?”
And I proceeded to tell him the story of the twenty seven eight-by-ten
colour glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and the paragraph on
the back of each one, and he stopped me right there and said, “Kid, I want
you to go and sit down on that bench that says Group W …. NOW kid!!”
And I, I walked over to the, to the bench there, and there is, Group W’s
where they put you if you may not be moral enough to join the army after
committing your special crime, and there was all kinds of mean nasty ugly
looking people on the bench there. Mother rapers. Father stabbers. Father
rapers! Father rapers sitting right there on the bench next to me! And
they was mean and nasty and ugly and horrible crime-type guys sitting on the
bench next to me. And the meanest, ugliest, nastiest one, the meanest
father raper of them all, was coming over to me and he was mean ‘n’ ugly
‘n’ nasty ‘n’ horrible and all kind of things and he sat down next to me
and said, “Kid, whad’ya get?” I said, “I didn’t get nothing, I had to pay
$50 and pick up the garbage.” He said, “What were you arrested for, kid?”
And I said, “Littering.” And they all moved away from me on the bench
there, and the hairy eyeball and all kinds of mean nasty things, till I
said, “And creating a nuisance.” And they all came back, shook my hand,
and we had a great time on the bench, talkin about crime, mother stabbing,
father raping, all kinds of groovy things that we was talking about on the
bench. And everything was fine, we was smoking cigarettes and all kinds of
things, until the Sargeant came over, had some paper in his hand, held it
up and said.
“Kids, this-piece-of-paper’s-got-47-words-37-sentences-58-words-we-wanna-
know-details-of-the-crime-time-of-the-crime-and-any-other-kind-of-thing-
you-gotta-say-pertaining-to-and-about-the-crime-I-want-to-know-arresting-
officer’s-name-and-any-other-kind-of-thing-you-gotta-say”, and talked for
forty-five minutes and nobody understood a word that he said, but we had
fun filling out the forms and playing with the pencils on the bench there,
and I filled out the massacre with the four part harmony, and wrote it
down there, just like it was, and everything was fine and I put down the
pencil, and I turned over the piece of paper, and there, there on the
other side, in the middle of the other side, away from everything else on
the other side, in parentheses, capital letters, quotated, read the
following words:
(”KID, HAVE YOU REHABILITATED YOURSELF?”)
I went over to the sargent, said, “Sargeant, you got a lot a damn gall to
ask me if I’ve rehabilitated myself, I mean, I mean, I mean that just, I’m
sittin’ here on the bench, I mean I’m sittin here on the Group W bench
’cause you want to know if I’m moral enough join the army, burn women,
kids, houses and villages after bein’ a litterbug.” He looked at me and
said, “Kid, we don’t like your kind, and we’re gonna send you fingerprints
off to Washington.”
And friends, somewhere in Washington enshrined in some little folder, is a
study in black and white of my fingerprints. And the only reason I’m
singing you this song now is cause you may know somebody in a similar
situation, or you may be in a similar situation, and if your in a
situation like that there’s only one thing you can do and that’s walk into
the shrink wherever you are ,just walk in say “Shrink, You can get
anything you want, at Alice’s restaurant.”. And walk out. You know, if
one person, just one person does it they may think he’s really sick and
they won’t take him. And if two people, two people do it, in harmony,
they may think they’re both faggots and they won’t take either of them.
And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in
singin a bar of Alice’s Restaurant and walking out. They may think it’s an
organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day,I said
fifty people a day walking in singin a bar of Alice’s Restaurant and
walking out. And friends they may thinks it’s a movement.
And that’s what it is , the Alice’s Restaurant Anti-Massacre Movement, and
all you got to do to join is sing it the next time it come’s around on the
guitar.
With feeling. So we’ll wait for it to come around on the guitar, here and
sing it when it does. Here it comes.
You can get anything you want, at Alice’s Restaurant
You can get anything you want, at Alice’s Restaurant
Walk right in it’s around the back
Just a half a mile from the railroad track
You can get anything you want, at Alice’s Restaurant
That was horrible. If you want to end war and stuff you got to sing loud.
I’ve been singing this song now for twenty five minutes. I could sing it
for another twenty five minutes. I’m not proud… or tired.
So we’ll wait till it comes around again, and this time with four part
harmony and feeling.
We’re just waitin’ for it to come around is what we’re doing.
All right now.
You can get anything you want, at Alice’s Restaurant
Excepting Alice
You can get anything you want, at Alice’s Restaurant
Walk right in it’s around the back
Just a half a mile from the railroad track
You can get anything you want, at Alice’s Restaurant
Da da da da da da da dum
At Alice’s Restaurant
I dunno Capn,
Why did a communist sympathizer, Lee Harvey Ozwald, assasinate JFK?
Or a Muslim, Sirhan Sirhan, assassinate Robert Kennedy?
Why did Al Gore lose the 2000 election and go slobbering into the night about winning the popular vote?
Oh wait, I know the answer to the last one, Gore lost his home state of Tennessee, which, if he would have won it, guaranteed him the election.

From “Land of Confusion” by Genesis.
“Ooh superman where are you now?
When everythings gone wrong somehow?
The men of steel, the men of power
Are losing control by the hour.”
Except I would change that to the men of power are TAKING control by the hour.
You CONservatives slay me, American.
When Bob Dylan was playing and singing in the 60’s, people like you (CONs) used it as evidence that the country was going to hell and the peacenik hippies like Dylan were the Pied Pipers leading the kids into calumny.
Now, almost 50 years later, Dylan is “safe” enough for you CONs to embrace as one of your own.
You know . . . Marx is really old too . . .
Dylan sucked imo. Never liked his song, his singing style or his lyrics. I still don’t like Dylan’s stuff.
And why did God punish YOU with a permanent disability, Regular?
What did you get smited down for?
Intolerance, perhaps?
Looks like a theme day at WE Blog!

Maybe, just maybe, when bad things happen, it has nothing to do with how much God wants to reward or punish someone.
Maybe CONs should just stop trying to interprete natural events as “the will of God” to justify their intolerant views.

Apparently, that’s enough to call down the wrath of the almighty….

I probably should have said “every budding guitarist of a certain age”.
For SHAME! All those good Christians had to die just so God could punish that one Sodomite.

JR-KsGrrl,
Maybe one of the religious fundos can “explain me this”–
If New Orleans got smited down by a hurricane for planning a gay parade and New York got hit on 9-11 for abortion, why did a tornado level Greensburg, KS? And Andover before that? And Andale before that? And Hesston before that?
Why did God put Charles Krauthammer in a wheelchair? Why did God give Ronald Reagan Alzheimer’s disease and turn him into a slobbering vegetable? Why does He take Charleton Heston and spare Al Gore?”
Hey, Capn,
Why did God make bees?
Why does it rain?
I don’t think that God caused Katrina because of a Gay parade.
I don’t think that God caused 9-11 because of abortion.
Does God cause tornadoes?
Who is Charles Krauthammer?
Why did Reagan get Alzheimers? I have no idea!
I do believe that the creation is in decay because of one thing: Sin entering into it through the one man, Adam.
It hasn’t been the same since.
Could God have caused or allowed the things above to occur? Absolutely!
“I still don’t like Dylan’s stuff.”
I spoke to Bob this morning, McCluer. He told me to tell you that he doesn’t like you either.
American writes, “I don’t think that God caused Katrina because of a Gay parade.”
Well, good for you, American.
But I didn’t hear your people repudiating the Rev. Jerry Fallwell (now smited down by God) and the Rev. Pat Robertson when they agreed that it was . . .
“Why is there Air??” — Bill Cosby Album

NOW it’s important…
Chas,
Exactly. Spot on! Why is ther air? Bill was right on!
http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2008/02/28/hagee/
Correction–
It was right-wing fundo Rev. John Hagee who said that Katrina was God’s was of stopping the New Orleans gay parade.
To which John McCain then said, “all I can tell you is that I am very proud to have Pastor John Hagee’s support.”
JH: All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they were recipients of the judgment of God for that.
The newspaper carried the story in our local area, that was not carried nationally, that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came. And the promise of that parade was that it would was going to reach a level of sexuality never demonstrated before in any of the other gay pride parades.
So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing. I know there are people who demur from that, but I believe that the Bible teaches that when you violate the law of God, that God brings punishment sometimes before the Day of Judgment, and I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans.
******
Falwell and Robertson did tie homosexuality and abortion to 9-11, however. http://www.actupny.org/YELL/falwell.html
JERRY FALWELL: And I agree totally with you that the Lord has protected us so wonderfully these 225 years. And since 1812, this is the first time that we’ve been attacked on our soil and by far the worst results. And I fear, as Donald Rumsfeld, the Secretary of Defense, said yesterday, that this is only the beginning. And with biological warfare available to these monsters — the Husseins, the Bin Ladens, the Arafats — what we saw on Tuesday, as terrible as it is, could be miniscule if, in fact — if, in fact — God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve.
PAT ROBERTSON: Jerry, that’s my feeling. I think we’ve just seen the antechamber to terror. We haven’t even begun to see what they can do to the major population.
JERRY FALWELL: The ACLU’s got to take a lot of blame for this.
PAT ROBERTSON: Well yes.
JERRY FALWELL: Throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way — all of them who have tried to secularize America — I point the finger in their face and say “you helped this happen.”
PAT ROBERTSON: Well, I totally concur . . . .
Al-Maliki Warns Iraq May Not Sign US Forces Agreement
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has warned Iraq may not sign a status of forces agreement with the United States and will possibly ask US troops to leave when their UN mandate expires at the end of the year. The Bush administration is seeking to keep permanently more than fifty military bases in Iraq. It’s also insisting on continuing military campaigns without consultation with the Iraqi government and immunity for American soldiers and contractors. During a visit to Jordan, Maliki said the Bush administration is asking Iraq to give up too much sovereignty.
Nouri al-Maliki: “When we started the talks on August 26, we wanted an agreement between two completely sovereign countries, and when we went to the pact, we found that the US demands hugely infringe on the sovereignty of Iraq, and this we can never accept. We can’t extend the US forces permission to arrest Iraqis or to undertake the responsibility of fighting terrorism in an independent way or to keep Iraqi skies and waters open for themselves whenever they want.”

We can hope…
ALL the Alice’s Restaurant lyrics? Wow, I’m impressed!
Monkeyhawk, I listen to In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida quite often. Yes, all seventeen minutes and two seconds of it. That drum solo can’t be beat. And it’s so psychodelic! LOL
As for Dylan, I discovered one of my favorites was written by him. Garth Brooks made hit of it, and it was used in the movie Hope Floats. To Make You Feel My Love. But my favorite rendition of it is done by Mick McAuley & Winifred Horan, more known for their Irish folk music.
And my second fave Dylan is…
Come gather ’round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You’ll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin’
Then you better start swimmin’
Or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’.
Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won’t come again
And don’t speak too soon
For the wheel’s still in spin
And there’s no tellin’ who
That it’s namin’.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin’.
Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don’t stand in the doorway
Don’t block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There’s a battle outside
And it is ragin’.
It’ll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’.
Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don’t criticize
What you can’t understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin’.
Please get out of the new one
If you can’t lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin’.
The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin’.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin’.
Number of Foreign Troops Killed in May in Afghanistan Exceeds Iraq
Meanwhile, the number of US and international troops killed in Afghanistan has passed the monthly toll in Iraq for the first time. Nineteen US and coalition troops died in Afghanistan in May, seventeen in Iraq. The US and allied forces now have a record 52,000 troops fighting in Afghanistan.

Hmmmmm
Capn,
Who, pray tell, are my people, and who pray tell, are your people?
Rev. Fallwell, I am quite sure, has to answer for his own life. May he rest in peace.
Do you know that God “smit” him down?
As I will answer for my life, you will answer for yours.
Who is your advocate on that final day?
McCain: Gitmo Ruling One of Court’s “Worst Decisions” Ever
Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain said the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on Guantanamo is “one of the worst decisions in the history of this country.” Last week, the Court ruled that prisoners held indefinitely at Guantanamo have a right to challenge their detention in US courts. McCain said, “Our first obligation is the safety and security of this nation and the men and women who defend it. This decision will harm our ability to do that.” McCain also criticized his main rival Barack Obama for supporting the court’s decision.

McCain Fundraiser Compares Rape to Bad Weather
In other campaign news, McCain has postponed a fundraiser scheduled for today at the home of Texas oilman Clayton Williams. In 1990 Williams made headlines when he compared rape to bad weather. Williams said, “As long as it’s inevitable, you might as well lie back and enjoy it.” Williams has reportedly raised $300,000 for McCain’s campaign. The Democratic National Committee is calling on McCain to return the money raised by Williams. McCain’s staff said the fundraiser will take place later this summer at a new location.

“Predestined” admits –
“Monkeyhawk, I listen to In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida quite often. Yes, all seventeen minutes and two seconds of it. That drum solo can’t be beat. And it’s so psychodelic! LOL”
When I was in college my
weed connectiongood friend was the night time disc jockey at a progressive rock station. He had a special, slightly-scratched copy of “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” what would skip back a groove in the middle of the drum solo, thereby making it a perpetual play, if needed. He’d put it on the turntable and we’d go on a liquor store run, out for burgers, whatever. And when we got back, he gently nudged the tonearm. I think our record was a forty-five minute version.

I don’t hear you condemn Falwell or Robertson or Hagee for what they said. I don’t hear Fox News condemning them or Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity condemn them.
But when you’re called on it, instead of saying honestly and up-front whether you agree or disagree, you just say, “you don’t know what I think.”
Silence = agreement.
By suspending Habeas Corpus, Lincoln really sapped away the freedom from millions of black Americans.
Nope. Lincoln won the dog gone war that was required to win the peace (and the freedom of all Black Americans) by temporarily suspending the constitutional rights to a fair and speedy trial for Natural Born Americans!
The folks in Guantanomo can not even claim that distinction but they are being given access to the taxpayer funded legal defense services of a country that most of them have admitted to plotting to overthrow!
The Supreme Court is laying down the foundation for our defeat.

I would best be described as a social Democrat myself.
You have a different idea of “freedom” than I.
The minute a person is forced to sustain their survival and sustenance by punching a clock, pushing a broom, or answering a phone FOR someone else?
That person is no longer free.
You never told us what you meant by this…
In support of what RFL posted above, the US Constitution does not apply to enemy combatants and those who are not US citizens.
“But they [the terrorists] are being given access to the taxpayer funded legal defense services of a country that most of them have admitted to plotting to overthrow!”
Well, gee, RFL, if they admitted that, then you CONs shouldn’t have a hard time convicting them, should you.
See, that’s the problem: how does anyone know what crime they have committed without a trial?
You CONs don’t need no steenkin’ legal system. You already KNOW they’re guilty . . . somehow. Mind readers, apparently.
Unfortunately, that’s a logical fallacy called “question begging.” You can’t assume they’re guilty when the whole point of a trial is to (the question to be answered) is “are they guilty?”
Without a trial, the only thing you or I or anyone can know about the prisoners at Gitmo is that they are prisoners at Gitmo. Their guilt cannot be determined until a trial, by definition of legal guilt.
… and might I wish Phyllis Lyon and Del Martin a happy wedding day, after all these years. I should say second wedding day. Maybe this one will be allowed to stand.
They are the wind beneath ALL our wings.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080616/ap_on_re_us/gay_marriage;_ylt=AiKCi1TiKF4U9aI6pMBN.nTZn414
Or as JP would say “you’ve got gold inside of you”.
I was thinking “wouldnt it be nice if we had a thread to honor Phyllis and Del”…
And then I looked around at the cons and their generally hateful posts, and thought, “um, nevermind”.
‘Habeas corpus’ (IPA: /?he?bi?s ?k??p?s/) (Latin: [We command] that you have the body)[1] is the name of a legal action, or writ, through which a person can seek relief from unlawful detention of himself or another person. The writ of habeas corpus has historically been an important instrument for the safeguarding of individual freedom against arbitrary state action.
…
The right to petition for a writ of habeas corpus has long been celebrated as the most efficient safeguard of the liberty of the subject. Albert Venn Dicey wrote that the Habeas Corpus Acts “declare no principle and define no rights, but they are for practical purposes worth a hundred constitutional articles guaranteeing individual liberty.”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habeas_corpus
What’s really surprising is not the SCOTUS decision, but the dissenting justices who feel that the US has a right to throw someone into jail without even having to give a reason for as long as the government wants.
If you can justify that, you can justify tyrrany: “The government has to do it to protect itself.”
Yeah, the next thing you know, it will have to respond to the will of the governed . . . (heavy sarcasm)
It was decided in the Supreme Court case Ex Parte Milligan 71 US 2 1866 that the suspension was unconstitutional because civilian courts were still operating, and the Constitution (according to the
Court) provided for suspension of habeas corpus only if these courts are actually forced closed.”

GARTH BROOKS LYRICS
“We Shall Be Free”
This ain’t comin’ from no prophet
Just an ordinary man
When I close my eyes I see
The way this world shall be
When we all walk hand in hand
When the last child cries for a crust of bread
When the last man dies for just words that he said
When there’s shelter over the poorest head
We shall be free
When the last thing we notice is the color of skin
And the first thing we look for is the beauty within
When the skies and the oceans are clean again
Then we shall be free
We shall be free
We shall be free
Stand straight, walk proud
‘Cause we shall be free
When we’re free to love anyone we choose
When this world’s big enough for all different views
When we all can worship from our own kind of pew
Then we shall be free
We shall be free
We shall be free
Have a little faith
Hold out
‘Cause we shall be free
And when money talks for the very last time
And nobody walks a step behind
When there’s only one race and that’s mankind
Then we shall be free
We shall be free
We shall be free
Stand straight, walk proud, have a little faith, hold out
We shall be free
We shall be free
We shall be free
Stand straight, have a little faith
We shall be free

But you have to own statements before you can disown them. Look it up.

DOESN’T mean that people shouldn’t have to work and the government should provide for them.

But if I did, and I was in a flood zone, I would buy flood insurance.

Now, this is great, absolutely wonderful.

Let’s face it folks, and you have to admit it.

BlueJay,
So then you do think that folks should be able to choose not to work and that the government should provide for them at the same level as those that do choose to work.
This should be taught in our Schools!
A Good story for kids….and politicians. A good story you can tell
even your youngest child and they will know the difference between a
liberal Democrat and a conservative Republican.
I remember the time that Catherine, one of my daughter’s friends when
she was little, told me that she wanted to be President one day. Both
of her parents are liberal Democrats and were standing there with us
– and I asked Catherine, “If you were President what would be the
first thing you would do”?
Catherine replied, “I would give houses to all the homeless people”.
“Wow, what a worthy goal you have there, Catherine, I told her, you
don’t have to wait until you are President to do that, you can come
over to my house and clean up all the dog poop in the back yard and I
will pay you $5″. “Then we can go over to the grocery store where
the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $5 to use toward
the purchase of a new house”.
Catherine, who was about 4, thought that over for a second, while her
mom looked at me, and Catherine replied, “Why doesn’t the homeless
guy come over and clean up the dog poop and you can pay him the $5″?
Welcome to the Republican Party, Catherine!
Great story Boxlock!
Oh, btw, did anyone hear any news reports about thousands of Iowans drowning in the floods?
Nope. 30,000 of em evacuated. Can’t blame Bush for this one. The Feds weren’t needed for the initial evacuation. No buses left in the flood waters either.
How about the Iowa and Kansas tornados. Anyone here whining and crying about lack of Federal help or free Federal money?
Nope. Insurance. People buy their own insurance in Iowa and Kansas.

This gets pretty stinkin old every day…
All you right wingers arguing against something you obviously know nothing about!!
What Blue Jay previously said about being a Slave to labor is exactly true… IF you are dependent on working for someone all your life, with no possibility of working for yourself, it IS slavery of a sort… Anybody with the slightest amount of abstract thinking ability can figure that one out…

Are you advocating that everyone be self-employed?
Or, are you advocating that someone else should work for you?
WTF? Chas, please state your definition case more clearly.
(American, was I nice enough?)
agreed chas. However, nobody is ever forced into a situation where there is no possibility of working for themselves. No matter what a person’s position, there is always a chance.
With regard to money without working, there are many reasonable expeptions that even the most anal republican would agree to (disabled veterans, militay retirees, entrepreneurs, etc)
Freedom is a very insecure position. In my view, freedom and security are always contra-lateral to one another. ( i.e. a person can’t have more of one without having less of the other)
I will be one of the 1st to assert that some of the right wingers have exploited this idea, but I was a bit confused by your friday post in the same way that Sol posted that he was.
Gosh, is it beneath your DIGNITY to work for a living?

I taught my son and his little friends about Republicans vs. Democrats. My son was about 8 I guess.
I gave each of them 10 cents short of enough change to buy a treat from the ice cream truck. Except for my son. I gave him enough for ice cream and enough pennies to make up the difference for his friends.
Then, I told my son, your friends have to do whatever you say. If they please you, give them a penny.
My son VERY quickly turned into a pint sized dictator or CEO. He had them tying and untying his shoes, kissing his foot, doing dances, standing on their heads, calling each other names and hitting each other! My son was laughing so hard he could hardly talk. I did not like where this was going and it was going there fast. We are talking less than 15 minutes.
Nobody got enough to buy ice cream before the truck came by. But I didn’t let my son buy ice cream either.
Then I told my son and his friends. Nathan has been acting like a Republican. Let me show you how a Democrat does things. I collected up ALL the change and walked with the kids to the store where we bought 2 boxes of ice cream treats. Enough for everyone to have two treats with some left over!
The kids tripped over one another being nice about who would get the extras.
When it was all over, I asked the kids “Are we Democrats or Republicans?”
“Democrats!”
Really Clark? Jesus a Socialist? I think not.
Matthew 25
14For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
16Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
17And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
18But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
19After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
20And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
22He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
29For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
30And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Okay. This is a beaut –
I got this off the website for the newspaper in the town I grew up. It’s about a candidates’ forum over the weekend.
Bill Otto is the current Republic Party incumbent.
“Anyone who voted against Holcomb should not be re-elected,” Otto said. “If carbon dioxide is an imminent threat to our health, then he (Bremby) should have banned carbonated beverages, too.”
Otto said soft drinks are more dangerous to people’s health than the pollution caused by the CO2 emissions from coal plants.
From which orifice do you think Representative Otto pulled that one out?
“Do you wonder why you are attacked now?”
Mr. Clark,
Everything that the James does is justified in his mind because his actions are defensible retaliations. Others started it, not him.
Not justifying what he does, just an attempt to explain his actions.

BlueJay,
In your post above, you instructed your child to be a Dictator, not a Republican, and that’s what he became.
Your child’s friends had to do what he dictated them to do, or they didn’t get ice cream.
Then when things weren’t going as you so desired, you stopped the whole thing. Then you took all of them to the grocery store and bought more ice cream than what you could get at the ice cream truck, with the same amount of money.
Now that’s capitilism at it’s best, and you get to share your blessings and treat kids to ice cream.

Great post JR!
1) Democrats first take everyone’s money.
2) Next, Democrats decide what everyone should have.
3) Then, the Democrats “give” everyone what they should have.
You’ve gone beyond Socialism though. Your massive redistribution of wealth from each according to their ability to each according to their need – is Communist.

Not one case reported of looting either! What’s wrong with these people?
Ya suppose that the Obamaman filling sandbags made the difference?
THAT’S IT!
Obama was there…
To Save The Day!
There’s no need to fear, Obama Man is here!
When criminals in this world appear,
And break the laws that they should fear,
And frighten all who see or hear,
The cry goes up both far and near for
Obama Man,
Obama Man,
Obama Man,
Obama Man.
Speed of lightning, roar of thunder,
Fighting all who rob or plunder
Obama Man, Obama Man.
When in this world the headlines read
Of those who’s hearts are filled with greed
And rob and steal from those in need.
To right this wrong with blinding speed goes
Obama Man,
Obama Man,
Obama Man,
Obama Man.
Speed of lightning, roar of thunder,
Fighting all who rob or plunder
Obama Man, Obama Man.
Hmmm, rumors have it that Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Senator (R), Texas might be on the short list for McCain’s V.P.
That is just freakin SICK. Damn what is this kid’s head going to be like when he grows up?
Dad gives him money and power, he doesn’t earn it.
Dad tells his kid that his friends have to do whatever he says.
Then dad takes all the money anyway and gives treats if the kid claims to be ‘democrat’.
The ‘hate’ thing was bad enough. I was going to leave it alone. But combine with this latest, man that kid is going to need some help.

That’s how the Democrats BUY votes – Socialist programs. Vote for me, and the Government will “give” you free stuff!
JR is a perfect little brainwashed DemoRat. Just following orders.
Whatever it takes to not work, that’s what he’ll not do.
The Bible: Work or Don’t Eat
One thing I love about the Bible is that it takes a hard stand on people who try to just “get by” and feed off others without doing a lick of work themselves. Here’s my favorite verse on this topic:
For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.” 2 Thessalonians 3:10
Yep, don’t work, don’t eat. I think that says it all.
Notice that it doesn’t say that those who CAN NOT work should not eat. No, we should have compassion on and help out those people. But if someone can work, yet WILL NOT work, then he’s left to the consequences of his actions (or inactions in this case).
Here are a couple other verses on this same line of thinking:
Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth. Proverbs 10:4
How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest — and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man. Proverbs 6:9-11
So get out there and work! Or find a way to survive without eating. ;-)
Sol
You’re just torqued because I pegged you as a hypocrite.
You put out a call for all Americans to come together to support the Libertarian cause.
Which I reduced down and very quickly to “Let’s us all get together and defend what sol has!”
In YOUR version of my little experiment, all the kids would be expected to defend your right to be the only one who could afford ice cream.
Box, the Libs only use the Jesus argument when they think it supports their Socialist view.
Otherwise, they attack Christianity at every turn.
They blew it with this feeble attempt. Back to phony preachers attacking Christ and making up Their Own rules.
Uhm, BlueJay,
No. Everything you posted was incorrect. And I don’t see any hypocrisy in my post.
I put out a call for all Americans to stand up and be heard. Demand that your representatives follow your voice and obey the constitution. That would require work, BJ, something you seem loath to do. That would require effort and everyone’s part, equally. Something again you are loath to do.
Which you reduced down to… Don’t even know where that came from. It has nothing to do with what I do or don’t have. Nor what you do or don’t have. It is a call to defend the constitution.
In my version of your experiment, the kids would have had the opportunity to earn money for ice cream. Once earned it would have been there’s to do with as they pleased. Exactly what I do with my kids today.
That, BJ is called teaching them life lessons. Earn money. Spend your own money. Pretty simple isn’t it?
You have serious issues BJ. You play with your kid’s head WAY too much.
You still haven’t shown that your original post about not working and being provided for wasn’t a call for the government to care for you should you choose not to work. I went back and provided links to your posts. Nothing was explained (see upthread http://blogs.kansas.com/weblog/2008/06/open-thread-616/#comment-369483 ). You still haven’t provided anything but that you want to not work, yet have someone provide for you.
“Really Clark? Jesus a Socialist? I think not.”
Jesus and the Disciples did not work during His ministry – they relied on the charity of the people they visited.
Luke 10:4
“4 Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals; and salute no one on the road. 5 Whatever house you enter, first say, `Peace be to this house!’ 6 And if a son of peace is there, your peace shall rest upon him; but if not, it shall return to you. 7 And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages; do not go from house to house.”
Dear John Letter (to the devil)
Oh I used to love you
But now that’s hard to do
‘Cause I got some information
‘Bout the evil things at night that you do
Now the whole thing is through (we’re through)
Oh you’re such a devil
How’d you get me to believe you were true
Oh my momma warned me
And how my daddy cried
The day I left my home
You said you’d always keep me satisfied
But oh how you lied (you lied)
Well I should have heard my momma’s words
But then I guess I had to much pride (original sin)
First Chorus
I used to lie awake at night
And see your face on the ceilin’
What a bad a feelin’ I have
When I think of how you almost got me
In the ways of the world
In the ways of the world
My so-called friends said I misjudged you
My anger’s all in vain
But I’m afraid you got to them
Before I had a chance to explain
And it caused me such pain (ouch!)
‘Cause they were such good friends of mine
But now you’ve got them playin’ you game (you creep)
First Chorus
Well I believe in Jesus
And what he said he’s gonna do
He’ll put an apple in your lyin mouth
And cook you in a sulfer stew
One that’ll never be through
(Is it soup yet? No)
Ah, but if he hadn’t rescued me
Then I’d be down there cookin’ too
Oh if Jesus hadn’t rescued me
Then I’d be cookin’ right next to you
Second Chorus
I used to lie awake at night
And see your face on the ceilin’
What a great feelin’ I have
When I think of how you’re gonna get yours
At the end of the world
At the end of the world
Oh at the end of the world

The Son of God doesn’t need no stinkin’ political or ideological affilation, period…end of story.
Interesting JR. Let’s see, in your Democrat party lesson to the impressionable children, you have first have big government providing handouts. Check.
You have big government providing a smaller check to some voters, probably means tested against the ones who have a job. Check.
You have big government rectifying the situation by confiscating all the money, buying in bulk, and handing out government cheese to the people so that everyone gets equal results. Check.
Democrat politics 101.
It’s better than asking a 4 year old GIRL to pick up dog crap in an attempt to kill her charitable little heart there outlander.
But teaching your kid to be a dictator? A-OK?
Teaching your kid to hate? A-OK?
Get help for you and your kids BJ.
WS,
Jesus and the 12 did God’s work, but they were working, in spreading the Gospel and facing all kinds of persecution.
Paul, was the lone exception in this, as he was a tentmaker, and paid his own way.
BlueJay,
It is our lot in this fallen creation to labor.
It is sometimes hard to go to work everyday.
But didn’t you provide for your son?
Didn’t you share the blessing, of your ability to work, with him?
Good point American. There is a fine line between a Republican and being a Dictator.
And don’t talk to me about messing with kids heads.
When my son was little, some little Christian soldier decided to tell him there was no Santa Clause.
In class. I guess he was abut 7 or 8 then too.
My poor kid came home saying little so and so said that Santa Clause was a lie that people use to steal the baby Jesus’s birthday.
The kid’s mom was REAL defensive. “Well? My son didn’t LIE did he? There is no Santa Clause.”
I told her “Lady, there is just as much evidence for Santa Clause as there is for God. Do you want me to have my kid going around saying that?”
I could have knocked her over with a feather.
No Santa Clause = Dictator & hate ???
BlueJay = Messing with kids heads. Big thumbs up.
I don’t think I have ever in my life seen a parent so rabidly force their political views on a FREAKIN 7 year old. That is just SICK. And the idiotic scenarios you set up? You seriously have major issues.
To obey is better than sacrifice
To obey is better than sacrifice
I don’t need your money
I want your life
And I hear you say that I’m coming back soon
But you act like I’ll never return
Well you speak of grace and my love so sweet
How you thrive on milk, but reject My meat
And I can’t help weeping of how it will be
If you keep on ignoring My words
Well you pray to prosper and succeed
But your flesh is something I just can’t feed
To obey is better than sacrifice
I want more than Sunday and Wednesday nights
Cause if you can’t come to Me every day
Then don’t bother coming at all
La,la,la etc.
To obey is better than sacrifice
I want hearts of fire
Not your prayers of ice
And I’m coming quickly
To give back to you
According to what you have done
According to what you have done
According to what you have done

Earlier today, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer severerly kicked and stomped a Wichitan named Ryan Remil. When asked about the incident, Rudolph stated, “No one disses Santa on my watch!”
“Jesus and the 12 did God’s work, but they were working, in spreading the Gospel and facing all kinds of persecution.”

Your point of clarification? Or do I read your mind?
Dear Hank Price,
Your Paul MaCrae page was very funny.
Do you believe that he is actually that ignorant and clueless about climate science? Or does he write stuff like that to have fun conning nitwits like you?
Gotta go for now. While I’m pissing on the right….
Hey farmgrrl? Congrats the California thing.
You’re right about the “ick” factor though.
I’ve been teaching my son that it is wrong to use “gay” as a word to attack. That gay people are people too, just as good and maybe better than anyone else.
It’s a thing with his age group to say something is “gay”. I’ve been throwing that one back at him.
“You met my friend farmgrrl remember?”
“Yeah.’
“What was she like?”
“She was pretty cool.”
“Would you use gay like that if you were talking to her?”
“No.”
“Why?”
“It might hurt her feelings.”
“EXACTLY! So don’t use that word like that.”
HIS words “Well a woman with a woman is ok but a man with a man is just gross.”
I just told him nobody is gonna make him watch.
“Well, ok. But it’s still gross.”
We’re working on it.

No. and No.
You haven’t received the Word. You must first hear and then receive.

Please Libs, tell me what your alternative is to working for someone else to support yourselves.
Are you advocating that everyone be self-employed?
Or, are you advocating that someone else should work for you?
Gosh, is it beneath your DIGNITY to work for a living?
Do you feel more dignified with your hand held out to get paid for doing nuthin?
When you are born onto this Earth, the World owes you something? What, exactly? A free ride?
—————————————————-
Lib answers:
Crickets, then Santa Claus
“Is your name Jesus Christ, or are you one of his 12 disciples?”
No, but I am still spreading the Word.
How do you know that the Word according to me is wrong?
Eh?
“Lib answers:”
Max, you forget that you are scroll over territory – hardly anyone reads your posts.
Hell, I just caught the last of that one.
“American” explains Jesus’ obvious gaffe with –
“You haven’t received the Word. You must first hear and then receive.”
“American” went on to spin, “Mr. Christ really didn’t mean it when He said, ‘Verily, I say unto you, even as ye have done these things to the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me,’ He clearly misspoke and intended His blessings to be reserved to those who’ve heard and received The Word. Mr. Christ sincerely regrets the error.”
I was wondering when you would notice American.
Which is our current President closer to?
Republican or Dictator.
Hopefully the GOP will learn from the past 8 years and never nominate another president like this one. But somehow I doubt it.
BlueJay,
There is a flaw in your last post. A major one, which I would like to explore.
Using “gay” hurts someone’s feelings?
Especially when they call themselves “gay”?
And expect to receive the same rights as a “race” does, such as african-american, caucasion, latino, hispanic, etc. and the same marraige benefits of heterosexuals?
If it hurts gays to be called “gay”, why are they pushing that envelope?
They are hurting themselves.
Right Clark, that’s why you responded, but you can’t defend your Lib friends position on not working for a living.
Heck, somebody has to work, but NOT ME!
LLTVET,
Is Bush the only Republican?
American says –
“You haven’t received the Word. You must first hear and then receive.”
You will forgive me American If I don’t consider you to have any more credibility about Jesus, God, or any other religious issue than my lawn tractor.
Here is what you don’t understand: You can’t just read a book, borrow authority from it, quote it, and think that anyone with an IQ over 75 will validate your ideas.
It may be better form to use phrases like: in my view, I believe, I think, etc. It sounds much less arrogant. But then, that is just MY VIEW.
Hey, you Libs should be happy to know that Europe (your sacred Socialist model) now has gasoline ranging from $8 to $12 per gallon.
And in some locations, you’ll pay $10 for a beer and $1 for the toilet.
Big problem for you Libs, if America becomes completely Socialist.
BlueJay,
Remember Genesis 3:19′
By the sweat of your brow, you will produce food to eat until you return to the ground…
LLTVET,
We need leaders, not politicians, whether it be a Republican, Democrat, Libertarian or Independent.

It DOES take a Village!! LOL

You said the line between a Republican and a Dictator was fine.
You were referring to Bush.
I simply pointed out that Bush was not the only Republican.
Chas,
Old chum!
You never did answer who you should place your hope in.
Man or God?
Please choose the most important one, if you can.
I answered your question yesterday, ‘Merican.. Did you not comprehend the answer???
BTW, you now ask a different question than you asked yesterday… You want to make up your mind here??
Chas,
I am dissapointed in you!
You’re answer was incomplete!
You failed the pastor test.
Try again?
Chas,
I am sorry, if this is too complex.
But I will give you some more time.
I gave you the only answer that I will give to ANY Troll on such a dumb question…
Which way do you choose Chas?
Which way do you choose Chas?
Depends…
Does Barack Obama give you more hope than God Chas?
Did Nathan teach you to play this silly game, or did you learn it all by yourself?? ROFL!!
Or does God, the giver of all hope, give you more hope than Barack Obama?
I am waiting for yo reply, bro’.
God has given us the HOPE that is in Barack Obama!! :-)
It really is pretty basic, here my dear Chas.
Must be too basic… You still dont get it, ‘Merican!! Go take a nap or something constructive!!
Oh yea, and one other thing….
I AM NOT YOUR “BRO”
I will agree with that, but do you trust Barack Obama’s message of hope, more than you do God direct message of Hope in His Word?
Are you a sister?
Are you a sista?
Effin TROLLS!!!!
Romans 5:1-8
5:3 And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,
5:4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,
5:5 and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.
5:8 But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.
Obama’s message of Hope comes FROM his Hope in God… Chew on that one for a while…
No more interaction with TROLLS tonite… Thats enough foolishness for one day!! LOL
Chas,
A very appropriate source in God’s Word, even though you fell to cursing under your breath, by doing it!
But, I guess that’s a start.
I assume since Obama wasn’t in the post above, that you bow to the idea that you trust in God’s source of Hope more the Obama’s?
Obama’s message of Hope comes FROM his Hope in God… Chew on that one for a while…
American –
You’re about as much an American, asd Vladimir Putin is a Southern Baptist!!
Get over your own ego!!
Chas,
Which God?
I thought Putin was Russian Orthodox!
Stuff it ‘Merican!! Just STUFF it!!
You’re beatin a dead horse!!
What country do you live in Max?? This is the way we been doin it here for YEARS now!!

It’s so amazing to see Max bitching about something SO AMERICAN!! ROFL!! Just cant believe it!!
And MAX calls it the Dark Ages!!
Max, the dark ages is that most of those jobs in that wonderful list have been, or are about to be, OUTsourced to other countries!! THAT is the Dark Ages!!
It ain’t Thanksgiving yet! Too early for stuffin’, Pastor!
Hey Chas,
Careful how you talk about me, okay?
Hey Chas,

might be too early for thanksgiving, but YOU ARE THE BIG TURKEY!!! ROFL!!!

“McCain didn’t attend UCC.”
In other words, ‘Merican agrees with the statements of Hagee, Falwell and Robertson.
For the record, I agree with Jeremiah Wright.
What he was saying was exactly the same as Thomas Jefferson, “I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just and His Justice cannot sleep forever.”
He was talking about slavery. African-Americans have a right to be pissed off about slavery and Jim Crow.
They were owed an apology and reparations years ago and never got it. Remember “40 acres and a mule?” That would have been a good start, but, no . . .
“There is a flaw in your last post. A major one, which I would like to explore.
Using “gay” hurts someone’s feelings?
Especially when they call themselves “gay”?
I am not responsible for your lack of reading comprehension.
It is trendy among kids to use the word gay as a negative adjective.
“That car is gay.” “That show is gay.” Etcetera.
I don’t think gay people have a problem being called gay. It should not be used as an attack word. I do not allow my son to do so.
More? I would not want my son to be anything like any con poster on this forum. If I had to choose someone for him to be like it would be me.
“What do the CONs think?”
Thanks for acknowledging the difference between liberals and conservatives. Cons think. Liberals drink koolaid.
To answer your question, I think we should allow guns in church, as the other thread suggests. You libs should have nothing to fear.
In other news, saw a touching editorial cartoon which showed Bill Clinton hugging Hillary, patting her on the back touchingly. Then he opens his mouth and tells her warmly, “Close, but no cigar.”
Now . . . do YOU agree with Hagee, Falwell, and Robertson?
It’s a simple “yes or no” question.
Am_Way–
An almost intriguing attempt at being clever.
You too are to effing yellow to answer a simple “yes or no” question.
Know what makes the BlueJay smile?
You cons are dying out.
We can see it here.
I am one of the youngest posters and one of the few still raising kids.
My ideas will carry into the next generation. Most of you cons have already raised your kids on your ideas.
My son is coming along to replace you and your kids.
AND all your prejudices, quirks of faith, and old ideas.
As you age and die, America is changing around you. You hate it. But you can’t stop it.
:)
Falwell’s dead. Robertson and Hagee aren’t politicians. They can say whatever they want to. Free country, or have you PC libs forgotten?
Does God take that kind of action today? I don’t know. He certainly has in the past. Do you think He cannot? Our decadence certainly rivals any in history at times and places.
You have such a shallow world Capn. The effects of events run much deeper than whether “cons” or “commie libs” like it or not. They have a spiritual connection as well. Which is just as real.
Wow . . . a sure-fire way to shut the CONs up.
Just ask them if they agree with the bigoted statements of their reich-wing leaders.
Crickets.
“If I had to choose someone for him to be like it would be me.”
Yep, that way he can grow up and blog all day, and then go to his brothers house and replace his floor for $30 bucks.
Like you can control what your son says, what a silly thing to say. “Little boy, don’t say fuc-”.
Yep, I’ll bet you are being effective as a father.
Who knows? Maybe he will save the world too.
What’s he doing now?
Anyway, my kids used the word “gay” to describe things, and it means nothing toward gays. In fact, they are tolerant and accepting. I think you are not “hip” to the lingo of your kid.
“For the record, I agree with Jeremiah Wright.
What he was saying was exactly the same as Thomas Jefferson….”
Yep, the owner of slaves and the father of slaves.
Had sex with his slave women.
Great example Capn…
Thanks for that “nuanced” answer, outlander.
It was so nuanced, I couldn’t tell if it were a yes or a no.
One either believes that God would destroy an entire American city to “teach us a lesson” (a lesson interestingly enough that no one seemed to understand except for the religious fundo CONs), or you don’t.
I don’t.
But thanks for playing, outlander, and don’t forget to pick up your consolation prize on the way out.

Remember “40 acres and a mule?” That would have been a good start, but, no . . .
======================================
Ah Capn, glad you brought that up, because it was a Democratic Party President, Andrew Johnson who OPPOSED the ‘forty acres and a mule.’
Just read the contents of this law suit accusation here Capn and read what a Black Ministers thinks of the Democratic Party.
(chortles)
=================================================
Seattle , January 3, 2005 ] On December 10th 2004 , inner-city minister, Rev Wayne Perryman, – filed a class action Reparation lawsuit (in the United States District Court in Seattle Case No. CV04-2442), alleging “that because of their racist past practices the Democratic Party should be required to pay African Americans Reparations.??? Perryman said “he based his case on the research that he gathered during the past five years while writing the three editions of his latest book:
The Democrat’s 210 years of racist practices and cover ups not only negatively affected the entire Black Race; but these practices infected our entire nation with the most contagious and debilitating social disease known to mankind, racism. With landmark litigation, racist legislation and profane defamation, Democrats spent substantial amounts of money to produce racist campaign literature and to support racist entertainment (i.e. Jim Crow minstrel shows, stage plays “The Klansman,??? and movies, “The Birth of a Nation???), all in an effort to prove to the world that African Americans were a racially inferior group that should be treated and classified as “property??? and not as “citizens

Congressional records reveal that there wouldn’t be a question of Reparations today had Democratic President Andrew Johnson signed Senate Bill 60 (in 1866) which would have given each African American family 40 acres and a mule. Instead, Johnson vetoed the Bill and continued to block other key pieces of legislation that were designed to bring about equality for African Americans

“The Reverends John Hagee, Jerry Falwell, and Pat Robertson have all linked “God’s wrath” to 9-11 and-or Katrina.”
But then he says:
“For the record, I agree with Jeremiah Wright.”
Ever listen to what Wright has said – and is still saying?
The rantings of a maniac.
Gay people are getting married in California right now cons!
Obama says he wants to work with you.
I hope he works you over.
Thomas Jefferson had sex with one slave woman, Sally Hemings, after his wife died. He was very close to his wife and her death devastated him.
Jefferson knew that owning slaves was wrong, yet he lacked the courage to buck the system that was so profitable and well-established. Hence, his guilt-racked conflicts.
Jefferson is a perfect example of the effects of slavery in America–we know it’s wrong, we knew it was wrong, but we pretend like it never happened and we don’t have to do anything about it.
That’s the very thing Wright was condemning.
Rightly.
What a joke Capn. You speak as if with authority.
Like you personally KNOW what Thomas Jefferson did day by day centuries ago…..
One word. Idiot.
Yeah, Regular. I read history too.
The Democratic Party of 1865 was a bunch of racist pigs.
It stayed that way well into the 40’s, until Truman de-segregated the military and Hubert Humphrey came out with his equal rights plank.
LBJ’s support of Civil Rights Acts cost the party many many “Southern” Democrats like George Wallace. LBJ himself said that “we’ve lost the South for a generation.” Actually, it turned out to be more like two generations and it’s still continuing . . .
BlueJay,
I believe that Libs have sealed their own fate.
They have less children because they freely believe in abortion.
They don’t believe in marraige to the level of conservatives.
They believe in gay rights, which in themselves, cannot give birth to children.
How many kids do you have BlueJay?
How many Grandkids?
And now for something completely different.
Because we need you!

Sorry if a knowledge of the historical record offends you.
The man was a founder. His life has been thoroughly researched. You can still tour his farm Monticello as I have if you want . . .
That’s a real shame for California and a sign of the times. But don’t count out California yet! It’s still early.
As far as the little discussion about the use of the word “gay”, let me just point out that this used to be a fine word used in many classic poems, songs and other writings. This word was appropriated (stolen) by homos as a description of their perverted lifestyle. They ruined all of this fine writing.
So, I have no sympathy for anyone who whines about the “misuse” of the stolen word “gay”.
” but we pretend like it never happened and we don’t have to do anything about it.”
Another idiotic post. Beginning with the civil war deaths and war injuries mean nothing to Capn. Our country paid a price for freedom of the slavery, which was accepted throughout history beforehand.
For centuries.
We have paid a price ever since. We are still paying a price. Nothing ever done about it?!!!!
Civil rights movement? Nothing?
Silly man.
Woodrow Wilson, a well-known Democratic president, was a particularly nasty racist who set the movement back in the early part of the century.
But that was then, and this is now.
Am_Way–
The whites fought with whites over slavery. And the blacks got . . . share cropping and Jim Crow, i.e., de facto slavery instead of de jure.
In case you forgot, slavery was about black people, not whites.
“still tour his farm Monticello…”
You are clueless Capn. The ONLY reason we know of Jefferson’s indiscretion with ONE slave woman is DNA testing two hundred years later.
You can “thoroughly” check the life of Christ today, but that will NOT give you the truth.
Let me give you another examnple of indiscretion. Bill Clinton got a blow job which became public in the media world of today. From there, we learned of Jennifer and a a few OTHER women he abused.
There was not media watchdog in 1801. Not in 1810 either.
The guy OWNED slaves. He bought and traded black people. He broke up families. He housed them in slave quarters without floors. He screwed each and every female slave he wanted.
You don’t trust Bush with today’s technology, but you hold the past presidents as idealists?
You are being foolish. Reality buddy. Reality.
“This word [gay] was appropriated (stolen) by homos”
Incorrect as usual, outlander.
“Gay ladies” was a euphamism for prostitutes at least since the 1890’s. It apparently jumped from prostitutes to homosexuals later on. There’s no evidence that gays “appropriated” the term. It was an epitet of derision from the first which the gays then chose to embrace to take the sting out of the word.

Oh contraire Capn,
According to Reverend Perryman Democrats are still racist pigs as they refuse to apologize.
==============================================
The Democrats Refused to Apologize for their Racist Past
Rev. Wayne Perryman of Seattle, who is taking his case against the Democrat Party to the United States Supreme Court. According to his release, “The case was originally filed in 2004 after the DNC refused to apologize to African Americans for their support of slavery and Jim Crow. Unlike other Reparation cases, Perryman is not demanding money, only a public apology….</i<
Unveiling the whole Truth: What the media failed to tell American voters By Rev. Wayne Perryman http://www.wayneperryman.com
This bold, well-documented new book by Wayne Perryman puts the spotlight on the media, demonstrating that those who cover the news are no friends of black people. Among the salient points in Perryman books that run counter to what is reported in the news are some startling facts:
*Democrats were among the first to declare that Saddam Hussein had WMD’s.
*Bringing our troops home from Iraq now, as the Democrats demand, would result in an unmitigated disaster for America.
*The so-called separation of church and state doctrine is not a Constitutional mandate.
*Liberals played the race card to launch the abortion movement in America.
*The conditions that resulted in the hurricane *Katrina disaster started long before President Bush took office.
*President Bush is a true friend of blacks and the poor.
** from Rev. Perryman’s book.
“In case you forgot, slavery was about black people, not whites.”
But that isn’t what YOU posted Capn:
” but we pretend like it never happened and we don’t have to do anything about it.”
Idiot.
The Rampant racism, bigotry, and rabid paranoia on this Blog leaves me speechless… Here we are in 2008, and we still have to put up with these attitudes… No wonder the country is going to hell in a hand basket!! No wonder Jeremiah Wright could say: God DAMN America!!
(Although, he should have limited which parts of America he was talking about…)
Thank GOD not all of the country is so over-run with such lunacy!!
So once again, it is the racist Democratic National Party that refuses to apologize to black people in the United States. Reverend Perryman would have not brought his lawsuit if only the DNC had apologized.
The DNC did not apologize to the Black peoples of the United States.
So who are the racists Capn? Libs?
“He screwed each and every female slave he wanted.”
The reason that Sally Hemings’s descendents were tested for Jefferson’s DNA was because it had long been rumored that he had had a relationship with her after his wife’s death, that he had taken her almost as a second wife.
There’s nothing in the historical record that I know of that suggests that Jefferson had a relationship with more than one slave woman. If you find a credible source, I’d be interesting in reading it.
If the Republicans are such “champions” of African Americans, why are there so few black Republicans?
The Democratic Party should apologize.
So should the Republicans.
Why hasn’t the Democratic National Party apologized for their racist past and continued racist policies?
“why are there so few black Republicans?”
I’m just floored by the stupid people posting on this board. Seriously. Not merely a difference of opinion, I honestly don’t know how some of you can remember to breathe.

The Democratic Party should apologize.
So should the Republicans.
—————————
While the Democrats in the South were enslaving Blacks, my ancestors in the North were setting up Underground Railroad stations and were all abolitionists.
Why should I apologize for my ancestors past Capn?
It appears to me, my ancestors did everything they could to free the black peoples from slavery, including dieing in the Civil War fighting for the Union.
At least Regular doesn’t have any kids so part of his line will finally die out.
So, only those who put Japanese-Americans in detention camps should apologize for the actions of the nation?? That would be according to Regular’s line of thought…
It looks like duh Dems have no answer to give for their apology without qualifying it first like the Capn.
It appears the Democrats have no spine to apologize to the Black people of the United States for their racist past.
The Democratic Party has kept inner city blacks cooped up in their social programs ghettos in perpetuity. Keeping the black man down with subtle racist policies that reminds the black man they are inferior and can’t make it on their own. The Democrats remind the black man they need special appointments and points awarded to make it into universities or special positions.
The Democratic Party has developed covert and subtle racist policies to keep the black man down through socially engineered programs. It’s segregration by economics and the idea that blacks cannot be treated as equals because the Democratic party won’t let equality happen because of their social programs that divide the blacks from the whites.
The Democratic Party are still racist and keep the black vote, because blacks have become dependant on their new Master’s hand to keep and feed them.
The Democratic Party doesn’t want the Black man to succeed, they want to keep him on a leash and under control.
As now, they have Senator Obama on a leash, they hold him sacred as some prize, protecting him from those by using the racist card.
When, in actuality, it is the unapologetic Democrats who are keeping the black men and women in stasis, immobile and unable to break their emotional and mental bonds of their new Democratic party Masters.
Or maybe only those few folks to wrongly detained German Americans during WW I because they had German names, like my mother’s people, who were named Marx?? Hmmm????
Regular, your people attempted to do the RIGHT thing about slavery… But they were a part of a Nation that didnt necessarily follow their lead!! The NATION needs to apologize…. In spite of those who did the right thing!!

Here you go Chas, it took a Republican President to apologize for the Democratic Party President Roosevelt.
In 1988, Congress passed and President Ronald Reagan signed legislation which apologized for the internment on behalf of the U.S. government. (wiki)
Now THIS is funny,…. Regular… your rant is the VERY THING that Jeremiah Wright was hollering about in his Sermon!! The VERY things you condemn him for saying, YOU now put on the Blog…. THINK about what that means??? I mean REALLY THINK about it!!

Wrong Chas,
Reverend Perryman specifically asked for an apology from the Democratic National Party.
AND THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL PARTY REFUSED TO APOLOGIZE FOR THEIR RACIST PAST.
RIGHT — on behalf of the U. S. GOVERNMENT…. We ALL apologized… those who didnt agree with what happened, along with those who did… or their ancestors…
Thats what I am talking about — And I dont care if it was Reagan… it NEEDED to be done
And……………

Wrong again Chas!
I chastised Reverend Wright for calling everyone a racist and part of the U.S. of K.K.K. of A.
Obviously, my ancestors where not in the KKK, they were abolitionists and underground railroad conductors.
Rev. Wright was calling unapologetic Dems like yourself Chas as part of the U.S. of K.K.K. of A.
He brought up Hillary, remember? (Hillary does not know what it means to be black!) He didn’t bring up President Bush, now did he?
“why are there so few black Republicans?”
That is a very good question Clark.
In the Senate, only 69% of Democrats (46 for, 21 against) voted for the Civil Rights Act as compared to 82% of Republicans in 1964. Interestly, Al Gore Sr. voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Al Gore Sr. participated in a 74 day day democrats filibuster against the Act.
Republicans have not done a good job at deflecting lies and distortions of the truth.
Republicans in general do not do as good a job as democrats at propoganda. Republicans are not racists, nor do they represent racists today.
Yet they allow democrats to feed on fear, and the accusations.
Not so different really, than democrats protraying republicans as “evil” “smog loving” “pollution loving” animals.
Why did Trent Lott and Thad Cochran of Mississippi, Republicans both, vote AGAINST a resolution condemning past lynchings a black citizens and apologizing for a lack of action regarding same?
Well, Regular… Perryman should have asked for the apology — no — demanded the apology to come from the WHOLE nation… not just a part of it… There were a lot of Northern Abolitionists who werent Republicans… Just as there were people like YOUR ancestors… who believed in doing what was right…
It is an apology that needs to come from the WHOLE people of the U. S. A. not just a part….
I just wrote about the Clark, you need to read more carefully.
The Dems have past social program enslavement keeping the black people segregated and dependent on their new Master’s programs. The new Masters and champions of these segregationist programs are the Democratic Party. They want to keep the black man down and segregated.
Chas,
Once again.
PERRYMAN ASKED FOR AN APOLOGY FROM THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL PARTY AND DID NOT RECEIVE IT.
What part of that statement do you not understand Chas?
Or are you again in agreement with the DNC and REFUSE to apologize to the black people for the way your party has treated them.
Let it be shown that Clark, Chas, Capn and other Libs refuse to apologize as a party and hold that the DNC should not apologize either.
The new slave Masters, the Democratic National Party of the U.S. of K.K.K. of A. is alive and well in their National plantation.
Why aren’t you Libs and Democrats writing your Democratic Party Leadership, sending emails and raising cain why they have not passed legislation that apologizes to the black men and women of the United States?
The Democratic Party has control of both houses of Congress.
Are they so stubbornly racist they cannot pass such legislation to apologize?
“The Dems have past social program enslavement keeping the black people segregated and dependent on their new Master’s programs.”
So, you are saying that the Democrats brainwashed African Americans or are you saying that African Americans are not bright enough?
Given your logic, why is an obviously intelligent man like Barack Obama a Democrat?
“In the Senate, only 69% of Democrats (46 for, 21 against) voted for the Civil Rights Act as compared to 82% of Republicans in 1964.”
And you conveniently fail to mention that the totals included Southern Democrats who left the Party in droves after the Civil Rights act and became……….. Republicans.
This apology crap means nothing. It’s all a chance to get people riled up again.
Our nation endorsed and participated in slavery. Like many other nations two hundred years ago. It was ALL wrong.
If the white posters here feel they need to apologize, then by all means go up to every black person you see and say, “I’m sorry”.
But it means nothing. It was our nations history. Those slaves are all gone. They children endured discrimination MOST of us cannot even realize. It didn’t end in 1964 with the Civil Rights Act. It continues in some quarters even today.
Are you going to apoligize to them next?
It ain’t over. I see it everyday and deal with it every day. How you ask? Because one of my best buddies is black.
The real goal of all of this is money. It will make the compassionate liberals “feel good” to give money to today’s blacks, for the sorrow of slavery. Like that will take it all away, and clean the slate.
Sorry. You can’t wash it away libs.
So Clark, you keep providing excuses and changing the subject.
Are you for or against the Democratic National Party apologizing for their racist past to the black men and women of the United States?
If you are for it, why haven’t you emailed your Congressman to support legislation for it?
Quit sidestepping the issue Clark, unless you want to continue to be part of the Democratic National Party that CLINGS to its racist past.
It is an apology that needs to come from the WHOLE people of the U. S. A. not just a part….
Can YOU not read James??? LOL
“In the Senate, only 69% of Democrats (46 for, 21 against) voted for the Civil Rights Act as compared to 82% of Republicans in 1964. Interestly, Al Gore Sr. voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Al Gore Sr. participated in a 74 day day democrats filibuster against the Act.”
And what part of the country did most of those Democrats represent? The Civil Rights Act had a huge effect on the political map (one Johnson anticipated). To try to draw and equivalence between the current Democratic Party and the Democratic Party of 1964 is an act of either ignorance or willful deceit. That is a point of historical reality.
The real goal of all of this is money. It will make the compassionate liberals “feel good” to give money to today’s blacks, for the sorrow of slavery. Like that will take it all away, and clean the slate.
————————
Actually, you are wrong American_Way.
Reverend Perryman was very clear that it wasn’t about money.
All he wants is an apology and the Democratic National Party refuses to give one.
What he is saying is that he is on welfare and he wants to keep that pie for his own self.
Clark,
I did not FAIL to mention anything. At the time of their vote – the record reflects they were democrats.
You can TRY to candycoat it anyway you want. But the fact remains, and the historical record that democrats tried to defeat the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Further – blacks DO know this. You only look silly trying to make excuses for your party.
“So Clark, you keep providing excuses and changing the subject.”
How I am changing the subject, by raising legitimate issues regarding the Republic Party?
As for Perryman? This is the first I have heard of him – I don’t make knee jerk reactions – after I have had time to research his background, not just his words, then I will respond accordingly.
I am not going to respond to your two-bit flame baiting accusations.
Everything is about money Regular. The apology will be followed by cold hard cash – to make dems “feel good” about their sinful past.
It’s a lawyer thing Regular – never say you are sorry because that is an admission of guilt.
Guilt = $$$$$
“Further – blacks DO know this.”
Yes, and they also know that there is and was a huge difference between a Democrat and a Dixiecrat.
Too bad you don’t.

Chas,

Reverend Perryman’s case is working its way to the Supreme Court of the United States, because the Democratic National Party refuses to issue an apology for their racist past.
Do you want to be embarassed when the Supreme Court RULES THAT THE an apology should be made?
The Democratic party has control of both houses of Congress. They are the only ones that can pass legislation to be signed by the President.
Are you not going to push for that legislation Chas and other libs, cause it is just too damn inconvenient for you to do?
“To try to draw and equivalence between the current Democratic Party and the Democratic Party of 1964 is an act of either ignorance or willful deceit. That is a point of historical reality.”
To try to draw and equivalence between the current Republican Party and the Republican Party of 19XX is an act of either ignorance or willful deceit. That is a point of historical reality.
Okay Libs, Democrats and non-believers, here is Reverend Perryman’s Website.
Read for yourselves.
http://wayneperryman.com/
Oh and Clark, Reverend Perryman answers your questions there.
“It is an apology that needs to come from the WHOLE people of the U. S. A. not just a part….”
Why should I apologize Chas? I am not a land owner, I don’t know the first thing about the cotton industry, I have never owned nor heard of an operating existing slave plantation in my lifetime or my grandfather’s live time, and I have never owned a slave or treated anyone as such. I owe no black person any apology.
I owe no man an apology except the ones I have sinned against.
Step up Libs and Democrats! Here is a form letter provided by Reverend Perryman.

Justices of Supreme Court
Office of the Clerk
Supreme Court of the United States
Washington D.C. 20543-0001
In re; Wayne Perryman & African American Citizens of the United States v. Democratic National Committee
Case No. 06-1107
Dear Justices of the United States Supreme Court (or direct it to a specific Justice);
I am a resident of (city___________, (state)________________ and I am well aware of the class action case filed by Rev. Wayne Perryman on behalf of himself and the African American Citizens of the United States.
This case is not about partisan politics or an effort to inflict harm on the Democratic Party. It is about addressing a wrong that is long overdue. This case is not only important to African Americans, it is important to our entire country. I like many others from across the country, fully support this case and ask that you give this historic landmark case your most earnest consideration.
Sincerely,
(Your Name & Address)
“And what part of the country did most of those Democrats represent?”
“a Democrat and a Dixiecrat”
Here comes the spin!
Amazing. Not one democrat or lib will acknowledge their seedy past.
That failure dooms the party to making improvements. The first step is to face reality.
Without that first step, you are living a lie.
And you make your party look worse – because of your failure to admit you are not perfect.
Very sad. Scary, with the future government going to be majority liberal. No mistakes are possible, nor can they be acknowledged.
Perfection. Utopia.
Fools.
“an apology that needs to come from the WHOLE people of the U. S. A.”
Actually Chas, that would be VERY UNAmerican.
But your party promotes unAmerican activities.
“Do you want to be embarassed when the Supreme Court RULES THAT THE an apology should be made?”
Like that’s going to happen. Perryman’s “suit” is grandstanding, and he knows it. He’ll milk it for as long as he can, but it isn’t going anywhere.
By the way folks, Wayne Perryman has had a long career as a right wing nut, going around talking to groups like John Birch Societies. He used to be a Talk Radio Host.
How many Republicans are willing to sign on to such legislation?? Why Should it NOT be an apology from the NATION….??? It was the NATION that tolerated the damned perverted crap to begin with… LONG before the Civil War….
It was the NATION… even the FOUNDERS who tolerated perverted conditions and treatment of Blacks…
Why should it be ONLY the Democrats who issue such an apology?? Hell, James, there wasnt even a Democratic Party when the earliest slaves were brought here… Not a Republican Party either!!
And IIRC, the dumb-butt Andrew Johnson, was a Southerner to start with!! It is the NATION who owes the Black citizens the apology… Get the Republicans to sign on, and that legislation will pass without opposition (my prediction)….

So Reverend Perryman is a right wing nut eh?
What’s next? You going to call him an Uncle Tom?
Is he Bush’s Shoeshine boy ksagnostic?
What and What is it that is so hard to give an apology by Democrats?
Dear Hank Price,
Thank you for some more laughs. I noticed that your buddy Paul MacRae includes a wiki link, which contradicts his false claim re CO2.
“Changes in CO2 levels follow global temperature changes by several hundred years. CO2 doesn’t drive the climate, at least not in the recent geological past. And the roller-coaster ride of glacials (cold times) and interglacials (warm times) are almost certainly caused by “changes in solar intensity” due to something called the Milankovitch [link below] cycles.”
———
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milankovitch_cycles
“The Milankovitch theory[1] of climate change is not perfectly worked out; in particular, the largest observed response is at the 100,000-year timescale, but the forcing is apparently small at this scale, in regard to the ice ages. Various feedbacks (from carbon dioxide, or from ice sheet dynamics) are invoked to explain this discrepancy.”
———
ROFL!!!
A more detailed scientific explanation is at,
‘The lag between temperature and CO2. (Gore’s got it right.)’
http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2007/04/the-lag-between-temp-and-co2
And Hank Price,
A record El Nino aided AGW warming in 1998. Today, La Nina and a solar minimum are helping to mask AGW.
It’s just a DAMNED Shame that such an apology has not been issued by ANYBODY to this day!! And it is WAY past time to get it done — however it gets done!!
“Here comes the spin!
“Amazing. Not one democrat or lib will acknowledge their seedy past.”
I think here the irony impairment is intentional.
Where did all the Southern Democrats go, American Way? Did they all move to the Northeast and Left Coast, while right thinking Republicans moved from down from the Northeast?
Yeah, that must be it.
The “spinning” you are seeing is you moving round and round, you know, sort of like the people who have insisted that the sun comes up and down.

How many Republicans are willing to sign on to such legislation?? Why Should it NOT be an apology from the NATION
———————-
I hope all of them do Brother Chas.
But let’s be clear, it is your Democratic Party that controls both houses of Congress.
The ball is in your court.
By the way Regular, I think this is an EXCELLENT topic for Obama, and HIS democratic party to bring up now and during the convention.
Wonderful thinking. Who better to ask Americans, and his own party for an apology?
“Aww, the jawless fish speaks.
“So Reverend Perryman is a right wing nut eh?
“What’s next? You going to call him an Uncle Tom?
“Is he Bush’s Shoeshine boy ksagnostic?
“What and What is it that is so hard to give an apology by Democrats?”

“Not one democrat or lib will acknowledge their seedy past.”
We didn’t accept the Dixiecrats back then and we sure as Hell don’t accept them now.
Does the Republican Party accept David Duke?
(And before you get to it, we don’t accept Phred Phelps either.)
“But your party promotes unAmerican activities.”
Such as?
BTW, Regular, Perryman IS a right wing NUT case…. of exemplar qualities…. I have known about him for a long time…
Like I said at the time of their convictions, the grunts were the fall guys for the higher ups! They were expendable.
Military lawyers objected to harsh methods in 2002 By ANNE FLAHERTY, Associated Press Writer
2 hours, 24 minutes ago
WASHINGTON – Military lawyers warned against the harsh detainee interrogation techniques approved by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld in 2002, contending in separate memos weeks before Rumsfeld’s endorsement that they could be illegal, a Senate panel has found.
The investigation by the Senate Armed Services Committee also has confirmed that senior administration officials, including the Pentagon’s then-general counsel William “Jim” Haynes, sought the help of military psychologists early on to devise the more aggressive methods — which included the use of dogs, making a detainee stand for long periods of time and forced nudity, according to officials familiar with the findings.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the information has not been formally released. Details, including the names of the service lawyers who objected to the interrogation techniques, were to be discussed at an open committee hearing Tuesday.
Well ksagnostic, talk shit or post it.
Were the democrats wrong to attemnpt to defeat the Civil Rights Act?
Put up – or shut up.
“We didn’t accept the Dixiecrats back then ”
Who is this “we”? You got a mouse in your pocket Clark?
Apparently, and the record shows millions of democats supported the democrats by electing and REelection them in the 1960’s. Al Gore senior, for example.
You cannot speak for the people of yesterday. Silly rabbit.
““We didn’t accept the Dixiecrats back then ”
PS: More spin and denial.
This man cannot admit the truth. Maybe he doesn’t know the truth if it hit him in the face?
Respect going down hill quickly.
Well one thing is for sure American Way, there is not one Democrat on this board that is for a national referendum to be passed by Congress to apologize to African Americans for the Democratic Party’s racist past and America’s racist past in general.
Except, save Brother Chas who has made his statement to commit to an apology.
Although Brother Chas did call Reverend Perryman a nut case for speaking out as an African American, it makes one wonder if Brother Chas is really sincere about an apology?
All the others can only provide excuses why they shouldn’t apologize.
But yet they DEMAND one.
Crazy.
“Were the democrats wrong to attemnpt to defeat the Civil Rights Act?”
Dixiecrats attempted to defeat the Civil Rights Act – those same Dixiecrats are now Southern Republican politicians – welcomed by the Republican Party with open arms.
The GOP was also different back then, they weren’t the Party of God, Guns and Gays and outrageous spending.
Times change – you’re beating a dead horse.

Wrong!
Everyone in the United States is free to choose the party of their choice. The old south Democrats were not invited into the Republican party, they simply changed the (D) to an (R) in order to hide their racist past.
cosmos,
Damn, do you have any life outside of CO2.
I am so sick of hearing nothing out of you but AGW and CO2. Do you have ANY interests that have anything to do with living in the world today but that.
As I’ve said before, I’m glad, really glad, you are ‘on top of it’ so I don’t have to waste my life with it, but gee, give it a break for a minute or two.
If you would just once post about anything else I would have a seizure out of surprise and delight.
I don’t mean to belittle your interests or passions, but it’s not making any difference here.
As I’ve said, other than changing a few light bulbs, I’m not going back to the stone age to reduce my carbon foot print. It’s all laughable.
PS: You have a lot of potential, don’t waste it on being just a one dimensional character.

Who promoted and force through the legislation? A Democratic president, LBJ, one of the only good things he did in office.
To damn the Democratic Party because of the position of the Dixiecrats is disingenuous at best.
You are asking that I condemn the entire Democratic Party because of 21 Southern Democrats – ain’t gonna happen. You know, as well as I, that Southern Democrats were a whole ‘nother breed during the civil rights era.
I condemn the 21 Southern Dixiecrats.
Here’s your opportunity again Libs and Dems. It’s time to put up or shut up or make yet more excuses why you haven’t apologized.
Step up Libs and Democrats! Here is a form letter provided by Reverend Perryman.

In re; Wayne Perryman & African American Citizens of the United States v. Democratic National Committee
Case No. 06-1107
Dear Justices of the United States Supreme Court (or direct it to a specific Justice);
Sincerely,

Yeah, just 21 southern Democrats.
(wink, wink)
Yeah Clark, keep putting up those excuses why you are not standing behind an apology.
There were only 21 racists in the entire South.
Yeah (wink, wink)
“The old south Democrats were not invited into the Republican party, they simply changed the (D) to an (R) in order to hide their racist past.”
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, missed where I posted that they were “invited” to join the GOP – I said that they were welcomed with open arms – and they were – remember Nixon’s Southern Strategy?
“WSClark” notes –
“…Dixiecrats are now Southern Republican politicians – welcomed by the Republican Party with open arms.”
George Packer has a play-by-play of how Pat Buchanan and Richard Nixon created the “Southern Strategy.”

“There were only 21 racists in the entire South.”
Huh?
From Reverend Wayne Perryman’s Website:
Why are most blacks in America Democrats?
You will have to answer that question yourself. After reading this book, you will understand that:
for over 150 years, blacks were victims of terrorist attacks by the Democrats and their Klan supporters, including lynching, beating, rapes and mutilations
On the issue of slavery, the Democrats literally gave their lives to expand it; the Republicans gave their lives to ban it.
Many believed the Democrats had a change of heart and fell in love with blacks. To the contrary, history reveals the democrats didn’t fall in love with black folks,
they (the Democratic Party) fell in love with the black vote knowing this would be their ticket into the white house.
Okay, I’m tired.
But one thing is very clear to me about the Libs and Dems on this board.
They (The Democratic National Party and those who stand behind it) absolutely refuse to give a Nationally issued apology for their party’s racist past.
That fact is indisputable.
good night racists.

“good night racists.”
Unmistakable sign that the cons are in a deep fear mode and have jack-shit to counter our arguments.
Very sorry assertion, James. Nothing unusual, though.
Your comments about Rev. Perryman were disingenuous, McCluer. You stated that he did not want monetary remuneration.
Your comment – “Reverend Perryman was very clear that it wasn’t about money.”
Wrong……………
“a. That an education fund be set up equivalent to the amount of $25,000 for every African American age 25 and younger that is currently alive as of the date of this lawsuit. The fund will be used solely for private school, college and trade tuitions and related educational costs.”
“c. We ask that the Defendant pay each African American citizen ages 26- 35 that is currently alive as of the date of this lawsuit, a total sum of $25,000 in reparations, each adult ages 36-45, $45,000 in reparations, each adult ages 46-55, $50,000 in reparations each and each citizen ages 56 and older $100,000 in reparations.”
So, it is about the money………………

Further Proof from the racist Steven Davis, who by his message only side steps the issue of a national apology as he doesn’t consider it serious.
But one thing is very clear to me about the Libs and Dems on this board.
Steven Davis along with The Democratic National Party and those who stand behind it absolutely refuse to give a Nationally issued apology for their party’s racist past. Instead, Steven Davis, the racist, avoiding the issue entirely comes about with his statement to blame others in his 11:15pm post.
That fact is indisputable.
“Everyone in the United States is free to choose the party of their choice. The old south Democrats were not invited into the Republican party, they simply changed the (D) to an (R) in order to hide their racist past.”
If the Dixicrats did as asserted above (which is a debateable point), what better place to hide racism than in the Republican Party. The grand ole GOP. Sometimes, James, I wonder if you think before you post. The above would suggest in the strongest terms, “NO!”
“Well ksagnostic, talk shit or post it.
“Were the democrats wrong to attemnpt to defeat the Civil Rights Act?
“Put up – or shut up.”
Talk about question begging, you are deliberately ignoring the point. The descendents of the people who opposed the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act are Republicans. They became Republicans, in large part, because “one of their own”, Johnson, was so relentless in pushing the Act through. When southern Democrats like Wallace failed to defeat Johnson in 1964 and (eventually) McGovern in 1968, they went Republican.
As for the southern Democrats who opposed the Civil Rights Act, I strongly feel they were wrong, of course. And the Republicans who supported it were right. But to apply that to the demographics of the parties as they are now is again, to be either ignorant or willfully disingenuous. Since you avoided the point I was making in favor of a specious rhetorical question, in your case I am going with the willful disingenuous.
Regular,
Sorry. You lose, see my last post.
“Steven Davis along with The Democratic National Party and those who stand behind it absolutely refuse to give a Nationally issued apology for their party’s racist past. Thanks, KansasNative, but it is clear to any sane person who reads hear thae McCluer is a Troll of the worst and most disgusting kind.
Interestingly, Nathan Price claims to have a lot in common with James McCluer. I think he may be correct in that assertion. This place is way over-burdened with trollish asses like James and Nathan.
You forgot lying, Mr. Davis.
“Reverend Perryman was very clear that it wasn’t about money.”
It was most certainly about money – billions of dollars.
Going to bed, jerk-offs. Have R.L. to deal with tomorrow, which some of you clowns know nothing about.
Let me put it this way American.
Please provide evidence for a massive demographic shift that resulted in the American south changing from a Democratic stronghold in the early and mid 20th Century to the Republican stronghold it became in the late 20th Century and remains today. Otherwise, it is you who is “talking shit”.
And I would wager that you know it.
Steven Davis,
The multi-nic’d ‘Regular’ never “loses” on the WE Blog.
It’s his personal fantasy world, where he can lie, to spread his invalid opinions, his invalid beliefs, his inaccurate facts, and his “Kansas values”.
And when he turns off his computer… ‘blip’, it’s all gone.
Just think how much cheaper everything would be if all the illegals were paying taxes !! Ship them all home and watch gas prices bottom out. watch jobs open up, I have friend qualified for school jobs but won’t be hired because they don’t speak spanish…what the heck.It would be so nice not to have to push a button to speal english…sort & deport these germ carrying vermon…
What “Reverend” Perryman is asking for is approximately $2,000,000,000,000.
(40 million black Americans @ e. $50,000 each.)
That is hardly: “Reverend Perryman was very clear that it wasn’t about money.”
I have not said anything today in this thread and nothing to Steven at all.
I see he is still all riled up.
Hey Steven,
Want to go to lunch some day so I can set you up for people to drive by and look at you?
Nice try at diversion and lies racists.
Perryman’s lawsuit does not seek millions of dollars.
It asks that the Democratic Party issue a national apology for what he termed its past racist policies and practices toward blacks-and that they fund production of a series of documentaries which would record and preserve the tainted legacy of the party with free distribution to all public and private schools in the country.
http://www.wayneperryman.com/wp/?p=22
good night racists
“Perryman’s lawsuit does not seek millions of dollars.”
I copied and pasted the information from HIS website. If that isn’t monetary compensation, I don’t know what is.
(See 11:16 post.)
Evidently the racist Clark that fled the predominantly African-American populated city of Detroit because of ‘White Fright and White Flight’, believes that the lawsuit in que before the Supreme Court asks for trillions of dollars. Evidently, the clerks of the Supreme Court are liars as well according to the racist Clark.
Try opening the link, McLiar.
As for “White Flight?” I moved TO the City of Detroit in the Seventies – purchased my first home there. I only left when I was transferred first to Central Michigan and then to North Carolina.
Dumbass.

Senator Obama turns his back on African Americans.
On January 12th and 13th of 2006 several key members of the Democratic Party were faxed a letter informing them of the lawsuit and requesting their assistance in obtaining an apology, but none responded. Among those who received the fax were: Senator Barack Obama, Senator Joseph Biden, Senator Barbara Boxer, Senator Mary Landrieu, Senator Hillary Clinton, Congressman John Conyers, , and Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. to name a few.

The Democratic Party Lynching Party Members
Lynching in the United States is the practice in the 19th and 20th centuries of the humiliation and killing of people by mobs acting outside the law. These murders, most of them unpunished, often took the form of hanging and burning. To demonstrate a ritual of power, mobs sometimes tortured the victim.
Lynching became highly associated with Southern efforts to retain and enforce white supremacy after their defeat in the American Civil War. In their defeat, Southern whites resisted allowing full legal and civil rights to African Americans. The aftermath of war increased social and economic volatility. The formal end of the war meant that groups shifted to insurgent means to try to resist Federal occupation and changes to the law.
The changes in civil rights of freedmen in the short Reconstruction that immediately followed the Civil War, and then again later in the mid-20th century, aroused anxieties among white citizens about African-American political power. African-American citizens and white allies were lynched during both these periods. Lynchings of civil rights workers during the 1960s in Mississippi galvanized public support for the Civil Rights Movement and legislation
Below are the list of Mississippi Governors during the lifetimes of most reading this blog, all of the Democratic Party who reigned during vicious lynchings in their Democratic Party controlled state.
Hugh L. White January 22, 1952 January 17, 1956 Democratic
James P. Coleman January 17, 1956 January 19, 1960 Democratic
Ross R. Barnett January 19, 1960 January 21, 1964 Democratic
Paul B. Johnson, Jr. January 21, 1964 January 16, 1968 Democratic
John Bell Williams January 16, 1968 January 18, 1972 Democratic
I leave you tonight with quotes and actions of Democratic Party Leaders.
Blacks “are inferior to the whites in the endowments of both of body and mind.
Thomas Jefferson, 1787, Co-founder of the Democratic Party along with Andrew Jackson)
President, 1801-09
Democrat President John F. Kennedy is lauded as a civil rights advocate. In reality, Kennedy voted against the 1957 Civil rights Act while he was a senator, as did Democrat Senator Al Gore, Sr. After he became president, John F. Kennedy opposed the 1963 March on Washington by Dr. King that was organized by A. Phillip Randolph who was a black Republican. President Kennedy, through his brother Attorney General Robert Kennedy, had Dr. King wiretapped and investigated by the FBI on suspicion of being a Communist in order to undermine Dr. King.
Frances Rice is a lawyer, retired Army Lieutenant Colonel and Chairman of the National Black Republicans
James Webb, 1990
Now a Democratic Senator from Virginia
“Everybody likes to go to Geneva. I used to do it for the Law of the Sea conferences and you’d find these potentates from down in Africa, you know, rather than eating each other, they’d just come up and get a good square meal in Geneva.”
Frances Rice is a lawyer, retired Army Lieutenant Colonel and Chairman of the National Black Republicans
And just think, my Dad hated JFK because in Dad’s words Kennedy was a “N” lover… Gosh, if he would only have known… would have been one less vote for Nixon!!

How about all the tax increases you propose?

The new Democratic Party Mantra:
“Yes, we can.”
What about pulling out the troops in Iraq?
“Yes, we can.”
What about the Democratic party being the recipient of the most money from millionaires?
“Yes, we can.”
What happened to the party of the people?
“Yes, we can.”
Will you overtax the people?
“Yes, we can!”
And put them in harms way?
“Yes, we can!”
Will you negotiate with terrorists?

Will you try to appease terrorists and our enemies like Chamberlain did before WWII?

Gee, MELTDOWN!!!! Needle is stuck!!!
ALERT!! ALERT!!
‘Merican has suffered a major meltdown… His posts can be ignored until further notice from the Editors!!!
Get a LIFE ‘Merican!!! Geez!!!
Very soon now, in November, many people will have to be held accountable for their racist views, no matter how subtle they have been; they are still quite evident, as is clearly seen in the rantings of the crazed ‘Merican’s totally outrageous rantings on many threads on this Blog yesterday… Accountability will come hard for many… But it will come… And when this great nation steps into the unknown, and elects a candidate filled with Hope and Awe, and Wonder… A candidate who has the audacity to tell us: Yes We Can pull this country together… When we find this candidate sitting in the Oval Office, in January, 2009…. Then will come the accountability…
How much of an American are all of you hate filled racists, and bigots who have called Obama everything but a white man (pun intended) going to be then?? Or will you try to flame and rant and rave that your rights are being threatened??
How much of an American will you be when it becomes absolutely CLEAR that we DO need some forms of gun control… not to take away your precious extensions of your manhood (in your mind, of course) — but to make damned sure we keep track of the movement of these weapons of Death…
And how much of an American will you be when you find out that you really dont control the way people will Believe in their faith??
And how much of an American will you be when you are told, by law, that YES we WILL provide health care to all… from the smallest to the largest… from the richest to the poorest… male/female; gay/straight; old/young; working or not; Health Care… one of those basic little things that ALL Americans need, and DESERVE to have…. as human beings!!
And how much of an American will you be when you get it through your heads that Women WILL have reproductive rights, whether the sexist males of this country LIKE it or not… that unwanted pregnancies CAN be lessened… not by abortions… but by caring, and education, and helping hearts and hands…. And yes, by allowing those who NEED abortions, the opportunity to seek out that procedure… and those who have religious beliefs opposing such a procedure… GET OVER IT!! It’s LEGAL!!
Will you still be Americans then?? All of you Reich Wingers?? You hate filled fear mongers, afraid of things that have never happened yet, and most likely never will??
When two consenting adults, unrelated, can join in the bonds of matrimony…. Even when SOME folks dont believe in such a thing because of their religious beliefs…
And if you DONT believe in it, well, dont DO IT in your religious group!! And leave the rest of the people who DO believe in it alone!! Or will you turn to HATE crimes, and plaster your flags and crosses over the crime scenes, and call it God’s WILL??
Come November, we will find out how much an American many of you really are!! I HOPE and I PRAY that we will come together as AMERICANS… and show the WORLD that out of diversity, yet we can display UNITY as Citizens of the UNITED States!!!
Probably nobody will read this… and perhaps that is as it should be… But at least it is posted to the Blog… and if only one or two read, and THINK… then the purpose of this post will be served….
God Bless…. So mote it be!!
