City leaders were right that the new downtown arena would spawn economic activity — it’s already happening.

So, Sedgwick County and Wichita taxpayers are paying what is growing to be ONE BILLION DOLLARS IN COUNTY AND CITY TAXES to build the white elephant downtown arena so the arena construction workers can get a “ten dollar discount” in a downtown adult bar.
All taxpayers should thank the three holdover county commissioners, Tom Winters, Dave Unruh and Tim Norton for this obtuse use of our taxes for this arena albatross.
The Arena has always been a oddity to me, the statement had been made that they had trouble filling the standing venues. So the answer was to build a bigger one? Wichita could not get the named preferences to come here so with a larger venue they will come! One to many times watching “Field of dreams” maybe?
I am sure the big acts are setting around thinking, “Gee I have always want to appear in Wichita but damn it they just do not have the Arena!”.
But maybe there will be an increase in business.
The sex trade seems to see the value of the Arena.
It’s nice to know with the price of gas and the rising cost of everything related, some people can still get a bargain somewhere.
Didn’t we all work to make the money to pay the sales tax which funded the arena project? Shouldn’t we all get a discount?
