Phill Kline filed today to run for Johnson County district attorney – the position that the county Republican Party gave him in late 2006 after he lost his re-election campaign for Kansas attorney general. Kline said last year that he wouldn’t seek the job but changed his mind.
Kline likely will face a tough challenge, even in the GOP primary. Many Johnson County Republicans were mad when Kline was chosen to fill the district attorney position, given how badly he lost in the attorney general race. They may prefer GOP candidate Steve Howe, one of the prosecutors Kline dismissed when he became district attorney. Howe has been endorsed by Sens. Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts and former Sen. Nancy Kassebaum Baker.
The winner of that primary will face Rick Guinn, the presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party.

Yeah, looked how well Morrison turned out. :D
Phil Kline lies? There’s a shock.
But we aren’t angry at Morrison. He just disgraced the office. Tried to intimidate a witness and used state funds for his own private use.
Phill again? No way! Considering he was a one-issue, one target attorney general and a one issue, one target district attorney who doesn’t even live in his district, he’s shown himself to be unfit to hold public office anywhere. His only client is Troyboy, when he claims to represent the people of his state or district. He’s been an embarrassment to the state already, handing over confidential documents to Billo. We don’t need more of the same!
Well Jed I am assuming you came to that conclusion because of what you have read in the media. Horrors of horrors you might not be getting the entire story. Perhaps you should talk to someone in his office to see what is taking place. Just a suggestion so you won’t appear to be close minded.
okobserver,
Please. If you have evidence to cite, cite it. Defending Kline through some blanket assertion of “media bias” against him is vapid and worthless.

ROFL!
“Kline isn’t going away”
Kline did go away Phillip. He went to Johnson County. Why are you worried about what goes on up there?
Now you just need to let go your vendetta and the healing can start. You may turn out to be best buds, if you never see each other. K?
CF I neither attacked or defended. Perhap the dems don’t know the difference since they attack all day every day like they alone have their finger on the pulse of corruption.
“Now you just need to let go your vendetta and the healing can start”
The healing will start when the rabid Republican religious right fades away in the rear view mirror of society.
Beep Beep. Right on your a$$ again WS.
Perhaps those Christians feel you rabid leftist should get off their butts WS. It is an interesting concept. Are they wrong because of their beliefs or are you wrong because of yours?
Humm??
“Uh, Breaker One-Nine, this here’s the Rubber Duck
You got a copy on me Pig-Pen? C’mon
Uh, yeah 10-4 Pig Pen, fer sure, fer sure
By golly it’s clean clear to Flag-Town, C’mon
Uh, yeah, that’s a big 10-4 Pig-Pen,
Yeah, we definitely got us the front door good buddy,
Mercy sakes alive, looks like we got us a convoy”
okobserver,
You neither “attacked nor defended?” Nonsense. You said straight up that Jed “might not be getting the whole story.” Did you have ANY grounds for making that claim? Manifestly not. You attacked the soundness of his judgment that Philllllll Kline has “shown himself to be unfit to hold public office anywhere,” without offering any substantive reason for doing so.
My criticism stands.
Back at ya CF do you have sources that tell your nothing else is going on in Kline’s office? If so cite them. If not it is a draw as I said earlier.
okobserver,
WRONG. I didn’t make any assertion; you did. Burden of proof is on YOU.
OMG why won’t this guy just take a freaking hint already. His ‘mandate’ is as legitimate as Bush’s. And Republicans great, run him again. I dare you. If the religious right hasn’t figured it out by now that even BLOOD RED KANSAS is against them, well I don’t know how many more seats they’re willing to give up before they figure it out.
I think CF2K is pretty fabulous. I am limited in the time that I have to post on these blogs, but find the time to read them. CF2K always invokes a strong sense of logic with each argument he makes. I love it. It always seems that those in opposition are reduced to calling him names rather than rebutting his views.

Reg does have a sense of humor after all!!
Is it possible to get anti-stalking papers served on Kline? I mean, like, keeping him out of Wichita?
jabonde,
Mighty nice of you to offer the unsolicited praise. Thank you.
Though it is true, I will admit, that I’ve been known to throw a name or two myself, on occasion–though in addition to, rather than as a substitute for, logical argumentation.
Okie,
I talked to the people that resigned rather than work on his agenda to the exclusion of all others. Maybe you should talk to some of them.
Blondie who did you see calling CF a name. And if he argues logic then save me from his deductive reasong skills.
As I said Jed if you have evidence that he isn’t doing the job he has been hired to do then put it out there. I have admitted I really don’t know. If a disgruntled employee is your source though you should make sure it is accurate. I seem to remember a lot of Morrison allegiance going around at the time of the dismissals. Surely you realize that the same thing happened when Morrison took over Klines old job.
More of that convoluted logic of CFs.
okobserver,
Evidently, pattern recognition isn’t your strong suit: the name under which I post is CF2K. The last two characters are a ‘2′ and a ‘K.’ Got that, okobserver? A number and a letter. Oh, and the name of the person you dismissively refer to as ‘blondie’ is ‘jabonde.’
You ought to try harder, okobserver, to keep your tendency toward sexist bullying under wraps; it’ll give you less to live down when one of the female liberals who posts on the blog hands you your ass in a debate.
“Perhaps those Christians feel you rabid leftist should get off their butts WS.”
I am not in the least bit interested in “getting on their butts.”
I am straight, remember?
I am sure that a few of them are interested, butt (pun intended) they need to count me out.
I can, however, hook them up with a few gay friends of mine if they need to take a walk on the down low.
If Kline makes it past the primary, I will be absolutely shocked.
His sort of Christian Right obsession is a losing proposition in 2008, just as it was in 2006, particularly in Johnson County.
ksagnostic,
BINGO. Given that the Johnson County GOP flipped Johnson County the Bird by foisting Kline on them, one might expect Johnson County to flip a big ‘ol Bird back come November.
Here’s a nice blog post from back in 2006. Takeaway line: Philllll Kline only got 35% of the vote in Johnson County for the Attorney General race.
http://hopeandpolitics.blogspot.com/2006/12/kansas-its-official-johnson-county-gop.html
Phill the Pill tied his fortunes to Operation Resuce. So much raw talent wasted. On greed for power, ambition and ego. He coulda been a contender.
okobserver clearly illustrates the point that I made regarding name calling. Even more amusing is watching “oko” make a veiled reference to us for believing/acknowledging the version given us by the media and seemingly taking us to task for not contacting someone within Kline’s office to find out the reality – and then backing away from his “assertions” when called on it.
Regrettably, and not unlike “oko”, I don’t have connections within Kline’s administration. And while I do not accept at face value what the media disseminates, I do trust what I see with my own eyes and hear with my own ears when I do have opportunity to watch Kline video footage. I would suggest Kline’s message speaks for itself. And I have never once heard him speak of anything other than abortion or Morrison.
I do know that Kline’s single-minded anti-abortion agenda during his attorney general days came at the expense of other divisions within his office – most notably consumer protection. (Not to mention his failed re-election bid.)
A list of Kline accomplishments in office:

David, Aren’t you giving him too much credit?
Good news! Almost every Republican this election will face Dem opposition.
In the past many Pubes ran unopposed. Not this time.
Dems are figuring on a high Dem turnout with many Pubes getting tossed out of office.
Okie,
My friends told me that Kline insisted that they put everything else on the back burner until “Planned Parenthood is out of business in Johnson County.” I’d call that a one-issue agenda in a district attorney’s office, wouldn’t you?
You know, Phill Kline has posted on this board before.
And isn’t it coincidence that someone claims to know those in his inner sanctum.
Perhaps Oko is also Parkay?
Don’t live there. Don’t care.
BTW – Either Steve Howe or Rick Guinn (I know both) would do a good job.
Don’t live there. Don’t care.
I used to live in Wichita, when Phil was terrorizing the entire state. I’m a 1000 miles away from any Kansas polling booth.
Phil, please go away, and stay gone. Thank you.
Okie,
“If a disgruntled employee is your source though you should make sure it is accurate.”
Actually I would be more inclined to trust them over the “gruntled” employees. They are the ones who agreed to stay and be a part of his patently illegal fishing expedition.
I think of Kline as I do Bush: incompetent, knot headed, and fundamentally a major embarrassment for all to see. And don’t forget the inability to learn from one’s mistakes!
Oh, Phill (the second “l” is for “liar”) Kline is going away.
He might (just might) rally enough JoCo Republic Party voters to win the primary. But don’t count on it. At the same time time, “3rd party” candidates have until August 4th to field a candidate for the general election.
Count on the anti-choicers to create a faux party if the polling goes against Kline leading up to the August 5th primary, with a faux candidate who will pull out of the race on August 6th.
That’ll leave Kline an option, after he loses the GOP primary, to jump in as a 3rd party candidate.
In what amounts to a three-way race, Olathe’s Nazarene mafia might eke out 33% of the general election vote in Johnson County. It’s Kline’s only hope.
Otherwise, he’ll have to get a real job.
Looking again at the picture at the top of this thread, Phill missed a real opportunity; he’s make a hell of a lightening rod!
