As expected, the U.S. Senate didn’t have enough votes to block a GOP filibuster of a climate change bill, the Washington Post reported. Not that it mattered much; President Bush had vowed to veto the bill. That means any climate change action will have to wait until the next administration. Both John McCain and Barack Obama supported the Senate bill, which would have created a cap-and-trade system for greenhouse gases as part of provisions to cut emissions linked to global warming nearly 70 percent by 2050.

……big surprise here.
The republic party has led the war on science throughout the the bush mis-administration.
” Both John McCain and Barack Obama supported the Senate bill”
McCain can say he supports the bill, but would he have voted for it in the end. Talk is cheap as long as you don’t have to put your vote on record.
Apophis
Science? Global Warming Science? BS!
What proof is there that man is causing any global warming?
Tell me Apophis were is the proof?
The vaunted Global Warming models? Simplistic crap.
This bill would have done NOTHING but add costs to an already painful economic downturn.
Adding taxes and cap-and-trade system expense will not bring prices down only drive them much higher.
If you remember the pictures of India, or other areas in Asia, where there were few vehicles and only bicycles and mopeds…that’s Americas future with this kind of legislation. As well as people going without air conditioning or heat just to get by.
Apophis,
Your ‘guardian angle’ is up.

Anyone got an extra 45 Trill they aren’t using?
As the climate continues to cool the next 10 to 15 years, concerns will fade. That is why there is such a push now to get it done by GW worshipers.
Apophis — And….. they’re OFF!!!
…….don’t you just love the arrogant stupidity of the reichwing Chas?!
Iraq oil minister says security allowed oil boost
BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraq’s oil minister says improved security has allowed the country to boost its oil production to pre-war levels.
Oil Minister Hussain al-Shahristani says the increase has enabled Iraq to earn nearly $28.5 billion in revenues in the first five months of this year.
Production last month hit the pre-war level of 2.5 million barrels a day. And al-Shahristani tells parliament that in the coming five years, Iraq should be able to produce between 4 and 4.5 million barrels a day.
Security in the oil-producing areas of southern Iraq has improved since the government launched a crackdown on Shiite militias in late March.
For sure, Apophis!!
Forgot to include the frauds name, Stephen Schneider.
My comment is “awaiting moderation”?
What kind of crap is that?
Certain words, some that are not even bad are flagged for moderation. Just try to figure out what they are and keep posting until it posts.
Look, still very quiet.

If Americans acted like there was a war going on, and fully supported it, then conservation would logically follow. But just the opposite is true. I’ve seen zip on this nation conserving anything. Not energy, gas, goods . . . nada. The gas saved is due to cost, not war. There is no sacrifice, other than soldiers dying, which, in my mind, makes the argument about global warming from both sides ridiculous. There’s something just a wee bit more important going on called war.
If climate change (as opposed to “global warming”) is real, and the facts point to it being so, then conservation by all Americans would seem to be the order of the day. But I doubt we’ll see that: Too many love their SUV’s, four wheel drives, jet skis, etc. The “Don’t you dare change my wasteful live” mantra is alive and well in America.
How about conserving gas, as the money spent is going to support the terrorists in the middle east. I would think the Republicans would be all over that, and pushing for conservation. Opps, stupid me: that would be against business, and even in a state of war, can’t have that. That would be against the Republican mantle of business uber all.
One of the candidates said something about investing ten billion on energy solutions, something I’ve preached for a long time. Do that, and succeed, and this carbon sequestering nonsense would be moot.

Said anything worth repeating lately, reg?
In my opinion Climate Change Warming or Cooling cannot be controled by Mankind. We are wasting our money and efforts on trying to reduce emissions enough; to do something that the Sun controls not us. I hope this fad changes and get real, it’s just like wearing pink clothes in my school day, we all did it for a while and then went on to something else. Actually I want to save the world FROM the environmentalists. I glad the dems got beat again.
Is Global warming really happening? What is the effect if its happening? These two questions are in need of conclusive answers. Once answered that what we can do or should be done are the next two important questions.
There is compiling evidence to support that Global warming is happening, to the extent is the question.
nature does run in cycles and warming and cooling have occurred to even extreme extents.
If it is all natural then we need to plan ahead for the effects.
To simply stand and point fingers in a meaningless debate is like two men trapped in a burning build arguing over who started the fire rather then getting the hell out of the building.
Regular that is good news, so now the Iraqis can pay us for our continued support and repay us for the cost of outing their Dictator and the invasion!
In my opinion… scientists who study this stuff are telling us greenhouse gasses are building up in the atmosphere and we can do some things to relieve the pressure on our fragile ecosystem.
Facts to ponder:
“the number of vehicle models sold in the United States that achieve combined gas mileage of at least 40 miles per gallon actually has dropped from five in 2005 to just two in 2007 — the Honda Civic hybrid and the Toyota Prius hybrid.”
…primarily in Europe, there are 113 vehicles for sale that get a combined 40 mpg, up from 86 in 2005. Combined gas mileage is the average of a vehicle’s city and highway mpg numbers.”
two-thirds of the 113 highly fuel-efficient models that are unavailable to American consumers are either made by U.S.-based automobile manufacturers or by foreign manufacturers with substantial U.S. sales operations, such as Nissan and Toyota.
“These cars sold in Europe meet or exceed U.S. safety standards, so there is no reason why they shouldn’t be made available to U.S. consumers,”
SOURCE: msnbc.msn.com/id/17344368/
Did some of you people just get here?
For the past however many years, when government restriction/regulation is increased, so goes the price. And who has paid that? Was it the corporations??? NO, it was the consumer.
When the dems come up with a idea to make themselves feel good, it is all of us who must pay for it.
I’d laugh if it wasn’t so tragic everytime I hear a dem say “OH We’ll make the corporations pay for it, we’ll dig into their profits. This is against the corporations NOT the hard working people.”
Gene, if the question is the survival of the human race what is that worth? There maybe nothing that can be done to stop it but if that is the case than should the reaction be a focus on what we can do to prepare and survive? What is called the small ice age caught the people by surprise, we maybe luckier then the people of that time. We can foresee it coming and be ready, that is unless we argue the price of preparing.
george — have you, by chance, had the experience of visiting the city of Pittsburgh, PA back in say, the mid-1960’s??
IF you have had that experience, AND you have also had the experience of visiting that same city today, you might not be so opposed to environmentalists as you think you are…
Why?? Because in the mid-60’s, that city was filthy!! The rivers were full of oil, and sludge… recreational boating was all but impossible… breathing was difficult on most days… beautiful stone buildings were covered in dirty, filthy black soot, and gunk… The air was thick smog, from steel mills, and other heavy manufacturing…
TODAY — Pittsburgh is gorgeous!! The buildings have been cleaned up through the great building beautification process known as sand blasting… New buildings have been built as well… the rivers (all three of them) are widely used for both commercial as well as recreatiional purposes… the air is 98% clearer to breathe than it was 40 years ago… Your car parked in a parking lot all day no longer gets a covering of black soot on it in an 8 - 10 hour time period like it did 40 years ago…
WHY?? Because the people of Pittsburgh said 40 years ago, We Have Had Enough!! We Want Our City Back!! And so they made the sacrifices necessary to clean it up…
Sure, they lost some businesses… and heavy industries… BUT… they replaced them with high tech industry… and cleaner burning coal, and coal furnaces…
It CAN be done… it was man made… even at that local level… and it was also MAN CORRECTED [or human made/corrected if you want to be politically correct :-)]
Hey Gene…jump into the beautiful Arkansas River in downtown Wichita. Years of Republican “don’t give a crap about the environment” have gone into that work.
“McCain can say he supports the bill, but would he have voted for it in the end. Talk is cheap as long as you don’t have to put your vote on record.”
I would think that he did have an opportunity to vote on cloture. If so, how did he vote thete?
This also shows the LIE often repeated here that the Democrats “control” the Congress.
Well ya know, it’s that annoying little itsy bitsy La Nina screwing up the Global Warming! I mean it is so insignicant, temperatures have dropped in several oceans and the Northern Hemisphere as experienced mild weather!
But it’s just minor, I mean heck, affecting entire oceans and a hemisphere ain’t nothing!
(chortles)
Boxlock,
Annie Moose posted this for you: I would ask you to bear it in mind, as you go about issuing threats.
“Ahh my gentle god loving friends before you threaten people becuz you don’t like the way they look smell or post on a blog please consider this….
§ 21-3438. Stalking. 1992. Amended 2002.
(a) Stalking is an intentional, malicious and repeated following or harassment of another person and making a credible threat with the intent to place such person in reasonable fear for such person’s safety.
Stalking is a severity level 10, person felony.
(b) Any person who violates subsection (a) when there is an order issued pursuant to the Protection from Stalking Act, sections 1 through 9, and amendments thereto, a temporary restraining order or an injunction in effect prohibiting the behavior described in subsection (a) against the same person, is guilty of a severity level 9, person felony.
(c) Any person who has a second or subsequent conviction occurring against such person, within seven years of a prior conviction under subsection (a) involving the same victim, is guilty of a severity level 8, person felony.
(d) or the purposes of this section:
(1) “Course of conduct” means a pattern of conduct composed of a series of acts over a period of time, however short, evidencing a continuity of purpose and which would cause a reasonable person to suffer substantial emotional distress, and must actually cause substantial emotional distress to the person. Constitutionally protected activity is not included within the meaning of “course of conduct.”
(2) “Harassment” means a knowing and intentional course of conduct directed at a specific person that seriously alarms, annoys, torments or terrorized the person, and that serves no legitimate purpose.
(3) “Credible threat” means a verbal or written threat, including that which is communicated via electronic means, or a threat implied by a pattern of conduct or a combination of verbal or written statements and conduct made with the intent and the apparent ability to carry out the threat so as to cause the person who is the target of the threat to reasonably fear for such person’s safety. The present incarceration of a person making the threat shall not be a bar to prosecution under this section
(4) “Electronic means” includes, but is not limited to, telephones, cellular phones, computers, video recorders, fax machines, pagers and computer networks.”
*************************************************
Given that you threatend on the other thread to do what you could to get Apophis fired, and to “put the knife in” with regard to me, Boxlock, I’d say you’ve reached the threshold explained above.
This is a public weblog, where people say things and vent. Nothing more. What happens here is minimally consequential; but not, evidently, to you. In a very short span of time your responses have escalated at a rate that is way, way beyond what one typically sees around these parts.
In all seriousness, and without any desire to be patronizing, Boxlock, I think it would be a good idea for you to ask yourself whether your mode of participation here is putting you in an unhealthy and potentially risky place.
I don’t agree with the views expressed in many of your posts, and for whatever reason, there seems to be a particularly high degree of hostility between you and me. But so what. Taking you at your word about yourself, I believe it is safe to assume you are generally a reasonable and stable person. Which makes the substance and tone of your posts all the more serious.
For better or for worse, what happens on the WeBlog doesn’t necessarily stay here. I would ask you to reflect upon that fact before you consider courses of action to be undertaken with regard to other posters here.
The people living in Kansas, particularly Wichita and surrounding area, know very little about smog. Smog is caused by pollution: cars and industry. Having come from Los Angeles, I know something about it, so I feel I can write about it.
It is caused by man, and nothing else. It makes it impossible, on smoggy days, to see mountains less than 10 miles away. That is caused by man. It gets into lungs and increases the number of people suffering from respiratory problems. That, as well, is caused by man.
My point is this: If man can cause a problem, like smog, that effects millions of people world wide, to think man can’t cause climate change due to increased CO2, methane, and all the other green house gases, just doesn’t compute. Reducing pollutants can only help the planet. We only have one planet. I think we need to be stewards of it instead of destroyers of it.
But what I’m reading from the Republicans is this: Who cares? I have a God given right to whatever I want, and however I choose to use it. This is America, and I’ll ruin it if I want.
And it still ticks me off every time I read the Republicans refusing to admit the fact buying gas supports terrorism. It ticks me off more than reading republicans calling Liberals traitors for wanting to end the war in Iraq, because their gas binges are helping to kill the soldiers we send over there. Talk about head in sand syndrome.
So which is it, Republicans, do you support the war on terrorism, or do you support terrorism? Do you support a clean planet, or do you support making your children pay for it?
“Only one path exists to serious climate legislation,” he said. “The president of the United States must make it a top priority. Then he can use the full weight of the bully pulpit to speak to the American people realistically about the costs and benefits.”
He added: “I also think it is critical to make the argument that we’ll be leaving the age of fossil fuels either intelligently by choice now or painfully by high prices and grim climate consequences in the coming decades.”

The rejection of the climate bill is actually a good thing. When the Democrats get the majority they can pass a more powerful bill than the watered down one being proposed.
‘Global Temperature Trends: 2007 Summation’
http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2007/
“2007 tied 1998, which had leapt a remarkable 0.2°C above the prior record with the help of the “El Niño of the century”.
The unusual warmth in 2007 is noteworthy because it occurs at a time when solar irradiance is at a minimum and the equatorial Pacific Ocean is in the cool phase of its natural El Niño-La Niña cycle.
Figure 1 shows 2007 temperature anomalies relative to the 1951-1980 base period mean. The global mean temperature anomaly, 0.57°C (about 1°F) warmer than the 1951-1980 mean, continues the strong warming trend of the past thirty years that has been confidently attributed to the effect of increasing human-made greenhouse gases (GHGs) (Hansen et al. 2007).
The eight warmest years in the GISS record have all occurred since 1998, and the 14 warmest years in the record have all occurred since 1990.”
Good point Maggot!
The Bush War on Science, the Bush War on the Environment, the budget, the trade balance, the Constitution, justice, Iraq, common sense, civility, the intellect and so on, will soon come to an end. Even John McSame’s faux recognition of humankind’s impact on the environment won’t stop the political freight train about to run over George Bush’s Republican party and its deadenders.
“kansasdem” notes –
“The Bush War on Science, the Bush War on the Environment, the budget, the trade balance, the Constitution, justice, Iraq, common sense, civility, intellect and so on, will soon come to an end.”
Yup.
It’s pre-dawn in America.
Let’s see a list of what all that tax money is going to fix.
I mean, are you going to the Climate Store, grab some things off the shelf and click a switch?
Just exactly what are duh Dems gonna buy for 45 trillion dollars?
I’m betting that toliet paper, although flushed down the crapper, will be more utilitarian than any plans duh Dems have.

This is great news! When will Iraq start paying us back for the billions we have spent on the war to liberate them?
CF2K,
Quit your lying! I did not threaten anyone at all, an you well know it. I was advising whoever that I would not trust YOU behind ME because YOU might “put the knife in” with regard to me. I never threatened anyone, that is simply ludicrous and you know it, but you are being a lousy liar about it. These posts are here for all to read, so just keep up your lying.
Second, read the post you cited contained therein;
“Constitutionally protected activity is not included within the meaning of “course of conduct.”
I AM, and WILL, continue to keep a second tab open with Word running, adding in any posts, Apophis’s and yours primarily, I feel need to be archived for whatever purpose I choose, and you have absolutely NO say in any of that. And quite frankly there is not a thing you can do about it. You are impotent as this is a public form. If you don’t want something recorded and kept, don’t post it. Got that? What I do with those posts depends on the posts, but anything I do with them will of course be perfectly legal.
And look who is using implied threats, I quote you;
“For better or for worse, what happens on the WeBlog doesn’t necessarily stay here. I would ask you to reflect upon that fact before you consider courses of action to be undertaken with regard to other posters here”.
Hum, that sure sounds like a threat to me, not even very vague. That one goes in YOUR Word file, just as is. What CF2K, you can’t stop me with your threats….as I said, you are impotent.
…..this sounds like STALKING to me as well.
Be sure to put this into your little dossier on me.
Let me know when you plan to deliver your evidence to my employeer. It might be fun to have the media (KAKE on YOUR side?) and the Wichita Eagle lawyers there as well.
…………..oooooooh, is this going to be fun!
By the way CF2K, are you Apophis’s hired heavy? He can’t take care of himself and cries to you? Or are you your own self-appointed vigilante, acting out of your own inflated ego?
Either way, I completely disregard you, got that?
Apophis,
Anything you post here is public domain, it is a blog.
Now wait-a-minute, “Boxlock” –
You claim now:
“I AM, and WILL, continue to keep a second tab open with Word running, adding in any posts, Apophis’s and yours [CF2K] primarily, I feel need to be archived for whatever purpose I choose…”?
What am I, “Boxlock?!” Chopped liver, all of a sudden?!
This morning you promised you’d collect my posts to prove I am “the most vulgar and perverted” participant in this forum! I was counting on you.
Were you lying then or are you lying no?
Damn. If you can’t trust wing-nuts, who can you trust? (Just about everyone else, probably. But it was a rhetorical question.)
C’mon, “Boxlock.” Come through with all my “vulgar and perverted” posts and rub my nose in ‘em.
MonkeyHawk,
I don’t consider you anything but a terribly misguided blogger that hasn’t matured enough yet to know he is misguided. Don’t worry you’re still bad, but NOT that bad.
Sorry but your posts don’t rise to the level of archiving. It takes time and effort to debase yourself to the level Apophis and CF2K have, they have perfected it, that’s why I want their posts readily available.
I know, that hurts but you’ll get over it, you’re strong.
The other two are either threatening or what I consider dangerous to society and children so I want a record of their posts without having to go back through the Eagle’s archive.
PS: I know you are both being humorous, and you accomplished that…I laughed with you not at you by the way. But, I don’t remember saying I was logging your posts, I’ll take your word if you say so but even though we have our disagreements…on everything it seems, you are not as bad as the other two.
We’re doing better with the ‘nic’ problem, notice?
“The other two are either threatening or what I consider dangerous to society and children”
I hate to be contrary (okay, I don’t hate it) but just how are Apophis or CF being dangerous to society or children?
Really, Boxlock?
The agriculutural economist still falsely claims that scientists, who agree with AGW, are “co-authors” of his paper.

MonkeyHawk,
Oh boy, I almost did it again…just type Monkey. See, I am NOT doing it with you to denigrate necessarily. It’s just abbreviating, ie. Pete instead of Peter, Joe instead of Joseph, Bob instead of Robert, anyway….
I think it rather curious that Apophis and CF2K are getting their shorts so bunched up about having their posts recorded if they really don’t think their posts rise to the level of negative attention and possible corrective action.
The way I look at it, but don’t always take my own advice unfortunately, is that if your don’t want to have to explain it to somebody, ie and employer, don’t say it, or write it in this case.
It is ludicrous for them to tell anybody they can’t record or archive their post on this public forum. Just crazy in fact.
Please forgive me not considering you worthy of tracking, you’re close but not in the big leagues yet.
Take care, got’a run, busy tonigh.
Boxtop is just another angry, reichwing white man.
Anyone who opposes his world view is dangerous in his eyes.
Did you put this into my dossier?
I have an idea boxtop…………let’s you and I meet, with counsel and see exactly what the legal opinion is for what you are claiming that you are doing?
Since I’m such a “danger to society and children”, might we better invite DA Foulston or even Attorney General Six to the meeting?
WS,
What do you call this;
““For better or for worse, what happens on the WeBlog doesn’t necessarily stay here. I would ask you to reflect upon that fact before you consider courses of action to be undertaken with regard to other posters here”.”
Sounds threatening to me, but frankly knowing the source it just sounds ridiculous.
Do whatever you want idiot…you are a joke with your implied legal threats. Citing what you write on a public blog being illegal…thats dumb.
If you don’t want something you write to get back to anyone….don’t write it. See how that works?
There are consequences to your behavior, you will learn that one place or another.
I’m just trying to help.
…………no “implied” legal threats little, angry whiteman. If you could actually READ, you would have seen it as a suggestion.
Afterall, you are the one claiming that I’m “dangerous to society and children”. If we met, then you would know my true identity. Wouldn’t that aid your little dossier?
I think you are just all talk and no action boxtop.
Put up or shut up little, angry white man!
Board of Education,
silent note slipped in, see the monkey dance…
…………..it would figure that the troll-boy would join in with boxtop.
…………..care to join the legal conference mccluer?
…………..be sure to mention my name to the BOE members you talk to troll-boy, this is going to be fun since they all know me!
The BOE just thinks they know you. They really don’t know you, they really, really don’t.

I wonder what their family, friends, etc, will think about them?
I wonder what their family, friends, etc, will think about them?

They will think “damn! Why didn’t we listen to them and pay attention to the false warning signs of Climate Change of alarmists! Now our country is in unrecoverable multiple trillion dollar debt, we still don’t have renewable energy and the environmental wackos have blocked all access to our own oil! The poor people that are freezing to death in our northern states only have the wackos and alarmist to blame as the poor people can no longer afford any kind of energy to heat their homes because of the huge taxes passed.”
An not one progressive Lib will take on posters like LR2 for his/her remarks.
Boxlock is his own person, I guess I’ll just call LR2, J. Ryan Remil Junior now that he has the same level of paranoia about who is who on this blog.
Damn, “Boxlock” –
This morning you convinced yourself that a brief search of my posts to WE Blog would prove me to be “the most vulgar and perverse” of ‘em all.
Now I’m not worth piddling with?
What happened. Did you do the research and come up with nothing? Or were you just blowing more stuff outta your ass?
You got up on your hind feet and proclaimed you could find proof that I am the most vulgar and perverted poster to this forum.
I simply challenged you to come up with the evidence.
Now you whimper that “the most vulgar and perverted poster” to this forum isn’t worth the bother to, y’know, come up with real evidence thereof.
What a typical Con.
Strutting and bluster and no substance.
Multi-nic’d ‘Regular,
Thank you for your 5:56 pm post.
The future will add it to your posts that claimed E. G. Beck’s bogus CO2 claims are valid, your boasts that your old IH degree makes you qualified re climate science, etc.
And they will wonder why you incorrectly believe that saving energy costs more than buying fuel.
….. and I’ll just continue to call you small —-
Boxlock,
Read the post again, particularly these parts:
“In all seriousness, and without any desire to be patronizing, Boxlock, I think it would be a good idea for you to ask yourself whether your mode of participation here is putting you in an unhealthy and potentially risky place.
Taking you at your word about yourself, I believe it is safe to assume you are generally a reasonable and stable person. Which makes the substance and tone of your posts all the more serious.”
You are no danger to me or to Apophis. What has my attention is the rage and vindictiveness manifested in your posts. THAT is what I pointed out as “unhealthy” and “potentially risky” for you. You may have heard these words ironically, but I intended for them to be taken at face value.
It is in the light of this emphasis that you should read this paragraph:
“For better or for worse, what happens on the WeBlog doesn’t necessarily stay here. I would ask you to reflect upon that fact before you consider courses of action to be undertaken with regard to other posters here.”
In light of the passages above, the main thing I was trying to suggest was the negative effects of your rage and vindictivness on your familial and psychological well-being. The obsessiveness that the WeBlog creates doesn’t just go away when one steps away from the keyboard; and given the happy and rewarding emotional life you describe in other of your posts, these charged feelings sound risky and potentially destructive.
And, yes, secondarily, the sorts of reprisal you seemed to be entertaining do have a way of boomeranging on the doer. You haven’t been around here very long, and you may not know much of what has gone on.
If my goal was to issue threats, Boxlock, I would do so directly. The fact that I did not, and am not, hopefully, will indicate that you ought to reflect on the observations I have addressed to you.
“The anti-AGW posts here by the deniers are going to look really dumb in a few years, when AGW becomes completely undeniable.”
Aren’t we still waiting for the ice age you people predicted in the 70’s?
From Time magazine, June 24, 1974
EVERYBODY PANIC!!!
“Scientists have found other indications of global cooling. For one thing there has been a noticeable expansion of the great belt of dry, high-altitude polar winds —the so-called circumpolar vortex—that sweep from west to east around the top and bottom of the world. Indeed it is the widening of this cap of cold air that is the immediate cause of Africa’s drought.”
And fleettwood once again proves that he is the BDP.
He believes that the Time magazine is a peer-reviewed science journal
‘The global cooling mole’ (as in the game, Whack-a-mole)

“During the period we analyzed, climate science was very different from what you see today. There was far less integration among the various sub-disciplines that make up the enterprise. Remote sensing, integrated global data collection and modeling were all in their infancy. But our analysis nevertheless showed clear trends in the focus and conclusions the researchers were making. Between 1965 and 1979 we found (see table 1 for details):
* 7 articles predicting cooling
* 44 predicting warming
* 20 that were neutral
In other words, during the 1970s, when some would have you believe scientists were predicting a coming ice age, they were doing no such thing.
The dominant view, even then, was that increasing levels of greenhouse gases were likely to dominate any changes we might see in climate on human time scales.”
Rumor has it that Rupert Murdoch is going to fire
Roger Ailes for O’Reilly’s poor ratings vis a vis Olbermann. If Ailes goes, Orally’s future with Fox is shaky; who’s next O’Hannity and Colmes?

fleettwood,
You seem to believe that a 1974 Time magazine article called ‘Another Ice Age?‘ refutes all of 30+ years of science done since then.
Such as in the compiled reports at
http://www.ipcc.ch/ipccreports/ar4-wg1.htm
Would you please explain why.
CF2K,
I’ll try and get back to you later since your last post sounded like it at least came from a sane person. I would like to give it the respect that type post deserves. But it will have to wait.
No offense intended, But I have VASTLY MORE IMPORTANT things to attend to at the moment…grandkids, and I just dropped in for a quick chuckle, which surprisingly you haven’t provided though MonkeyHawk and the juvenile idiot Apophis have, so my few minutes wasn’t wasted.
And MonkeyHawk, as I said before, I DO consider you to be both vulgar and perverted with your postings, but you don’t hold my interest to a high enough degree to waste time reading old threads. And simply because you issue a challenge that in no way obligates me or even motivates me to respond. Though I do find it comical you think so. I will have to rely on impressions gained from reading them the first time through, and you can do all the re-reading if you think it important, I am confident I am correct, I’m not the only one here that thinks your are a jerk.
Off to have a lot of fun with some REAL people.
“Boxlock” gives us the ol’ –

Yeah, well…
Let’s not let the facts get in the way of your confidence, now shall we?

Referring to Apophis;
“The BOE just thinks they know you. They really don’t know you, they really, really don’t.”
Exactly Regular, EXACTLY! And don’t you think they would really want to and it about time they did?
That’s the whole point of keeping track of his posts, to clearly show just who he really is when he thinks he has anonymity. I think they would very much like to know that. In fact I think they would consider him very much a liability.
CF2K,
I think you are greatly over estimating the “rage and vindictiveness manifested in your (my) posts”.
I simply try to respond at a similar level to what I am reading. I think you and Apophis simply don’t like having anybody even existing in the world that in anyway disagrees with you. I think you are both extremely bitter about ‘things’ and post and react to posts in a very off-putting, arrogant manner. I simply come back in like manner, but of course you really don’t like or accept that. Well tough.
Here’s the one I find interesting;
“In light of the passages above, the main thing I was trying to suggest was the negative effects of your rage and vindictivness on your familial and psychological well-being.”
I certainly appreciate your concern if in fact it were genuine but do you actually expect me to buy that when you stated, “For better or for worse, what happens on the WeBlog doesn’t necessarily stay here. I would ask you to reflect upon that fact before you consider courses of action to be undertaken with regard to other posters here”. That is clearly a warning not to take action “with regard to other posters here”. Even if that action is to log posts and turn them in to parties that might find them quite interesting from their management point of view.
CF2K, you talk a good talk, when you want to, and are vulgar, vindictive and threatening when you like, which is much of the time.
I will continue to post, and log posts in the future and we shall see if they have value or not.
As I said, this whole thing goes away when people begin posting in a reasonable manner. No one has reason for objecting if they are ‘proud’ of what they post.
Yeah, let’s get on with this global warming business. I never liked winter anyway, and a couple of palm trees would look good in my front yard. Besides, with the arctic meltdown, I’ve got the only chance I ever had of owning beachfront property! Lookin’ better all the time.
That’s the spirit Jed.
Keeping it positive, you are to be commended.
Besides we can’t really do anything about it anyway.
I don’t care if the global warming theory (yes, it is a theory, not a science) is correct. I like to look up at a blue sky, I like to breath clean air, drink clean water, and want to live in a country that is energy independent.
The climate on earth does run on cycles, how much of an impact man can have on that big of a scale is debatable, however, even if we can make 1/10 of 1%, that’s THOUSANDS of years of life being able to exist on the planet before climate change makes it impossible. THAT’S A GOOD THING! That’s 10 generations, I’ll take that!
Oh, and by the way, when we talk about the financial impact, yes, it could have a multi trillion dollar impact. TO THE GREEN (pun intended)! This could be the next boom, as the internet was in the 90’s.
A whole new economy that did not exist before, yes, sure, the political action comitee’s that represent coal, oil, gas, and the sleazy wall streeters who are making the big money representing dirty energy would suffer, but others would flourish.
What really irks me is how the right uses us poor Christians! They take a large segment of society and get us to vote straight accross the line in a fashion that hurts us in every possible way, because of one ONE!!! issue. Abortion!
SEMPERFIGUY,
Your’s is a very reasonable statement, we all want to “breath clean air, drink clean water, and want to live in a country that is energy independent”.
The question I have is both an agreement with what you say, and a question. I believe that if we can make a difference we should try. But also, what will those efforts, who’s outcome is unclear, do to harm us now. That is harm the economy, our lifestyle, etc.
I don’t want to go back to having to walk, or ride bicycles or use horses as a primary means of transportation. I want heat and air conditioning in my home. Exaggerations, maybe, but you get the idea. As I’ve said before we could reduce our ‘carbon footprint’ and greatly reduce CO2 release simply by banning all fossil fuel powered agricultural equipment like tractors and combines. My, my…could we ever reach near 100% employment also at the same time with everybody planting, harvesting, etc., simply trying to survive. But is that what we want to do. Our world’s economy is finely balance as it is, to start making it harder could result in extreme hardship and death to millions of people.
As I said, I have both agreement and questions, but we better consider carefully.
“I don’t care if the global warming theory (yes, it is a theory, not a science) is correct.”
It’s a scientific theory, and the observed changes match the theory.
“The climate on earth does run on cycles, how much of an impact man can have on that big of a scale is debatable…”
Do you want to argue that if humans had a huge nuclear war, there would be no “impact” on Earth’s climate?
Past natural cycles of about 100,000 years are irrelevant — except that humans have caused GHG’s to rise much higher than they’ve been for at least 800,000 years.
The GOP denies reality. They are practiced in that.
Their “God” Ronald Reagan kicked the problem of oil dependence (and the attendant contribution, not yet then known to global warming, down the road).
Now that problem is back and cannot be kicked down the road.
America HAS to change how it uses energy and what energy it uses. We have lost 30 years. We cannot wait any longer to address this.
BluyJay Good Morning,
It’s too fine a morning to begin an argument about Ronald Reagan, so lets not, and I don’t disagree the U.S., as is much of the rest of the industrialized world, are energy gluttons. But how can we change that without upsetting the balance that supports millions of people?
The is my honest question, NOT a contradiction of what you, or even cosmos, are claiming. All I’m saying is that there are always ramifications to actions, and we need to know those that result from what we do won’t be worse than the problem.
Would you be willing to suffer more to help solve ‘the-problem’. You have said you are not affluent, neither am I though reasonably comfortable, those that are just getting by now may well be pushed over the edge depending on the actions taken.
Apophis asks above;
“…if you are so confident that you can prove that I am unfit to be an educator, let’s meet with the KS State BOE General Counsel and you can swear out a complaint against me. That would get you started. Would you like his name?
Sure Apophis,….what’s his name?
CF2K,
You said “You are no danger to me or to Apophis”, and that is absolutely true. I have no intention of EVER being a danger to anyone, and have never indicated such, to even think so is silly.
Only Apophis, and possible you, are a risk to yourselves….certainly not me.
Also you say “If my goal was to issue threats, Boxlock, I would do so directly.”. Not a chance unless you completely ‘lose’ it. You are knowledgeable that these post don’t go away and can be called for and retrieved anytime legally demanded from the Eagle. You would not make a recorded mistake like that.
As I said earlier, if there is nothing posted that warrants archiving then what is the problem? No one has anything to even be concerned about.
Lets just all be civil.

Thanks
Give him my best regards!
I’d give you his number, but that would make it too easy for you.

“It’s too fine a morning to begin an argument about Ronald Reagan, so lets not…”
What’s the matter Boxlock? Don’t you want to face reality, and admit that Reagan rolled back CAFE standards, to bail out GM?
Don’t you want to admit the “ramifications” of Reagan’s actions?
Written in 1990, but even more true today,
‘Make Fuel Efficiency Our Gulf Strategy1′
http://www.rmi.org/images/PDFs/Security/S90-26_MakeFuelEffGulf.pdf
“Are we putting our kids in tanks because we didn’t put them in efficient cars? Yes: we wouldn’t have needed any oil from the Persian Gulf after 1985 if we’d simply kept on saving oil at the rate we did from 1977 through 1985.”
From footnotes,
“Although Chrysler met the standards in every year, Ford and General Motors flunked them for at least six years running, starting with model year 1983.
When even the 1986-88 rollback wasn’t enough to bail out GM, the Reagan Administration even considered a retroactive rollback of the 1985 standard!)
This 1986-88 rollback, undertaken entirely for Ford and GM’s benefit, competitively penalized Chrysler’s compliance; told GM and Ford they could defy Congress with impunity, and emboldened them to intensify their ferocious marketing (via rebates and other incentives) of their least efficient models.”
More at link.
Good for Reagan, he did more for the economy, and brought more good to people, than any liberal could or can.
“Good for Reagan, he did more for the economy, and brought more good to people, than any liberal could or can.”
Haha, good one. Only Republicans believe racking up trillions of dollars of credit card debt is good for the economy.
Boxlock,
Correct, Reagan eventually improved the economy for Exxon, Halliburton, Blackwater, Honda and Toyota.
The economy isn’t so good for the people buying $4 a gallon gas. It’s not good for GM, and GM’s employees.
And… the economy is really great for OPEC nations.
Sermon by Pastor Deacon Fred
As True Bible believing Christians™, we have a much better understanding about the fate of this planet than any Biologist, Environmentalist, or so-called scientist because we have a personal relationship with the Fellow who created this whole place to begin with! Friends, as True Christians™ then, being familiar with the Holy Bible gives you more authority than anyone who holds a post-graduate degree! That’s something to be proud of - don’t wince about it! And don’t let people call you crazy! God’s Holy Scriptures give the poorest farmer’s servant in our congregation the power to win an argument with a Bio-Chemist, or a Nuclear Physicist - without even knowing a lick about what them folks studied in their fancy secular universities! What these ignorant unsaved, over-educated folks don’t understand is that they can gather all the data, all the research and present all the facts they care to collect about any subject under the sun - but when you hold it next to child-like faith in the Almighty God, the most learned Evolutionist or Environmentalist, will widen their blind eyes in awe, and cower in fear at the truth of God’s Word! Praise Jesus! For the simple truth, we need only look to our old children’s Sunday School song, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands!” Oh, GLORY!
All this hub-bub about conserving energy, and protecting the environment is enough to make me want to pull my hair out! How about you? Why should we give a lick if our thermometers are edging up a bit, when the Lord promised He is going to turn the whole dang planet into a fire ball any minute now? Who is going to protect the ice cubes in Greenland then, my friends? Satan is sending out a false anxiety, and misdirected mass-hysteria about the environment! The roots of these phony fears are planted deeply into so-called “facts” which sprout from poisonous seeds between the hot-rocks scattered across the sandy shores of the Lake of Fire. Its Satan’s way of slapping Jesus in the face while he still has a chance! A-men? The only fact these folks should really be afraid of is the fact that if they don’t believe in Jesus Christ, that our loving God is going to roast them alive in Hell for eternity! Now, if you ask me - I’d be much more concerned about what is going to happen to me for eternity than I am about what’s going to happen to me in the next few years! A-men?
God teaches us in the Bible that “thinking” and “worrying” is an absolute waste of time!?
Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? - Matthew 6:25
Anyone who has read the Bible and believes every word will agree that worrying about our environment and trying to conserve energy (among other things) is an act of defiance against the Living God. Friends, the Lord will take care of everything. God made the Earth and the Heavens and if He wants to destroy it all, He will! In fact, one of the things that makes folks True Christians™ in the first place is that we are PRAYING for the destruction of this planet. You see, God actually wants us to use up all the resources, because when everything is gone, it will signal the return of sweet Jesus to come kill all the Muslims, Catholics, Mormons, Hindus and Tree-Hugger-know-it-alls. If we don’t end the world, God will just end it Himself. We’ve got to do our duty to speed up the process. The Bible says that God has given the world and everything in it for man to use. God wants us to do with it whatever we please! From Genesis, Chapter 1:26 we learn that God has given us dominion over “every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth!” So much for endangered species! That’s why we have an Endangered Species Dinner each year here at Landover! To celebrate God’s love for wild game hunters! And show that God has given us any species or plant we want to eat, even if it happens to be the last of its kind! Amen? In Genesis Chapter 1:29, the Lord continues letting us know that he has given us “every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of the earth.” And we just learned recently that plants create the air we breathe. God is telling us then, that we can use up the air in any way we see fit! Once the air is gone, it just means that Jesus will come back, so the more pollution, the better! Glory! In verse 30 of the same chapter, He affirms the fact that we have dominion over “every single living thing on earth,” and our environment is a living thing! Folks, that means we can do whatever we want with anything we like! If we use it all up, we have to have faith that the Lord will return and provide for us again. If you follow God’s rules, supply and demand doesn’t mean a lick. I think I speak for the Lord here, when I say, “use it or lose it.” Oh, ye of little faith! Don’t you know that God can simply sweep his robe across the clouds and create clean air again, if He wills it?
Friends, I’m going to get a little controversial now, but someone has to speak the truth. The sissy Christians who pick and choose whatever Bible verse they like to fit their latest agenda will burn in Hell and give off just as pleasing a scent to the nostrils of the Lord as any hell bound, America hating Muslim will. It is these pansy, false Christians whose liberal ideas are polluting the spiritual truth of God’s Word. I’ll say it now, and I’ll say it again and again! If you are a True Christian™, you shouldn’t be recycling. True Christians™ shouldn’t be attending Global Warming rallies, or be celebrating Earth Day. True Christians™ understand that worrying about such things, or supporting such efforts is in direct conflict with the Word of God! Friends, we can sum up our Evangelical stand on “Conservation” by making all these fancy scientifical types understand one truth: That is if Jesus can feed five thousand people with two stinky fish and five loaves of stale bread, He can certainly turn the lights back on and make clean air by just burping! Oh, Glory! Glory!
I ask that you share this message with your brothers and sisters in Christ who are not blessed enough to attend our Godly church. Rebuke them strongly for taking an interest in the fate of our planet! Tell them you are ashamed at their lack of faith and share some of the Scriptures I’ve shared with you here. Satan has shifted his trickery into high gear during these last days. He’ll do anything he can do to deter you from keeping on the straight and narrow path to Heaven. He is trying everything he can to make your mind wander into worldy concerns and get you to stop warning people about the only real threat to humanity! That threat, we know from the New Testament is God’s threat! Friends, getting a faster tan and a little extra sunshine from Global Warming, doesn’t hold a candle to having the skin boiled off one’s body by bubbling lava in the Lake of Fire! And that fact, my Godly brothers and sisters in Christ, should be more disconcerting than anything Lucifer and his army of hook-nosed liberals and pointy-tailed demons can pull out of their fancy behinds!

cosmos,
Don’t just complain, buy some stock. We have a little over 2000+ shares of Exxon and though I don’t like paying $4.00/gal. for gas, as it kills me as a business person that needs to travel around the state, at least I can follow the stock and dividends and smile a little.
Pssst, I don’t like the $4.00 gas AT ALL!!!! The above was an understatement. But I try to make the best of a bad situation. Example:
I saw a little of this coming back in late 2004, a weakening of the economy, and tip-toed into precious metals, which I always thought was a DUMB investment, and have continued to buy some from time to time, and now it has doubled. The point I’m making, if you don’t like the way things are you either change them, if you have the influence to do so, or you position to take advantage. But don’t just sit and complain.
No offense, but I keep hearing several of you complaining about it but really little gets done and if it does what is that going to do harm wise to a lot of people that are on the edge now.
With the ‘words’ we’ve had in the past you may not believe or appreciate this but I am sincerely glad you and others follow all this AGW stuff and report so I don’t have to. I can’t make a difference, but I need the information to make decisions where I want to be.

Just another asinine comment from an ANGRY, WHITE MAN!
Boxlock,
I was simply pointing out what Reagan’s unwise actions caused.
Did you buy some GM stock in 1985, when Reagan bailed them out? It’s at about 17 now.
cosmos_originally, no I didn’t buy GM stock in ‘78′, well not unless it was in a mutual fund I invested in to small extent, but I wasn’t buying much of anything back then. I had just 3 years before taken a big chance and left a supervisor position in a hospital and started in sales. I didn’t have the money to do anything much then.
If your point of joy is that GM is not doing well now it is noted, but that’s the way lots of companies and investments go…you win some, you lose some over time. Fortunately if diversified you can weather some bad ones to find the good ones. Don’t delight in GM’s troubles, for as companies like that go so goes the nation, and as much as you may like to divorce yourself from that you will suffer too.
I have a friend who was really, and I mean really, on the leading edge of health maintenance, and disease prevention several years ago. He tried a couple of things to promote that and essentially failed at both. Why, because he was too far ahead of his time and no one cared. Point….that’s still the way it is with what you are preaching to some extent, if you are even correct at all. Many just don’t care because it doesn’t effect their life now, except to make it more expensive and hard. Capitalism tends to find the greatest efficiencies for the now, what we do now may not be what we do in the future, but we live in the now and must do what works now, not 100 years from now.

How old IS the earth Apop?
Credible science dates the age of the Earth at around 4.5 billion years old. i will go with that approximate age.
How old do YOU think it is?
I don’t have any better idea than you do A-pop. Why would folks waste their time trying to guess about something that is totally irrelevant to living a good life today?
I said, 4.5 billion years..more or less.
………….it is NOT irrelevant.
Accepting credible science (age of the Earth, global climate change, etc) shows a person’s mind set.
Do you accept science or are you trapped in the superstitious beliefs pitfall?
All that the multi-nic’d ‘Regular’ can do re AGW is troll, insult and lie.
‘Regular’ has no credible science to support the theories he believes — like the bogus CO2 claims from E. G. Beck.
No credible climate scientist supports E. G. Beck’s bogus CO2 claims.
‘Regular’ said he took a few science classes long ago, while getting his Industrial Hygiene degree.
‘Regular’ has implied that those classes make him more qualified than the worlds top climate scientists.
So I basically told him to prove it, and go head to head with those scientists.
If ‘Regular’ believes he is more qualified than the worlds top climate scientists, he should get his PhD, and submit his papers to a credible journal.
Accepting credible science (age of the Earth, global climate change, etc) shows a person’s mind set.

An AGW denier is driving from the coast to a mountain top.
After going gradually uphill for awhile, the road goes downhill into a small valley.
The denier insists that because the road goes downhill for a short distance, it cannot possibly go to the mountain top.
http://wattsupwiththat.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/uah_may_08.png
Here is pretty intriguing one though cosmos, showing in graph form the current global cooling, which coincides with the current solar minimum. As I have said before, I don’t know as much about climate science as you do. I’m just an observer, observing. And pointing out what I see.

Science can contain elements of truth A-pop. It is most definitely not “the truth”.
From what I have read outlander, sunspot activity is heading for a peak around 2012.
outlander posted,
“showing in graph form the current global cooling, which coincides with the current solar minimum.”
Monthly, and yearly values fluctuate all over the place, due to ENSO and other factors.
That was the point of the post re driving from the coast to mountain peak.
The gradual AGW shows up in the long-term averages,
http://www.realclimate.org/images/giss-15yr.jpg
Solar? Note the graphs here,
http://www.skepticalscience.com/solar-activity-sunspots-global-warming.htm
“However, a crucial finding of the study was the correlation between solar activity and temperature ended around 1975.
At that point, temperatures rose while solar activity stayed level. This led them to conclude “during these last 30 years the solar total irradiance, solar UV irradiance and cosmic ray flux has not shown any significant secular trend, so that at least this most recent warming episode must have another source.” “
