Drawn to Obama’s ‘new-car smell’

huckFormer presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee warned New Hampshire Republicans against demonizing Barack Obama, and praised “his magnificent climb.” But Huckabee likened Democratic primary voters to wannabe buyers in a dealership showroom. “The car is really appealing. It’s got that new-car smell and all the bells and whistles,” Huckabee said. “Then you’ve got to sit down and decide, ‘Can I afford the payments?’ I think when people start looking at what Obama is saying, the very last thing they need, in this tough economy, is more tax burden on their families and their future.” Which raises a question: If Obama were a car, what model would he be? How about John McCain?

Obama would be a Soviet Model Lada with Muslim interior.

McCain would be a 1955 Buick with huge whitewall tires and wingtip taillights (clipped)

McCain would be a 1980 Ford F-150 with a really bad transmission. You just can’t depend on it to go backward when it’s in R, it may be in D instead.

Obama would be a brand new model sedan from Hyundai. The sedan’s extremely attractive, it looks and sounds great, it’s extraordinarily hi-tech, but the manufacturer is vaguely suspect and the model has no track record to speak of.

My wife and I together pull in about 80k a year. We have a very nice house with payments that are within our budget.

We have no kids, have no credit card debt, our cars are paid for. We are both in our 40’s. We take very nice vacations once a year and an extended weekend here and there.

We got to this point by working hard and not making stupid decisions. We pay more than our share of taxes and yet we have no children in the school system and we have never called for the police, fire or ambulance.

I listen to obama and I heard we might get a 1,000 tax break as middle class and yet I also heard of program after program after program. I heard price tags of 10 billion, 150 million and such that I know that I will have to pay for because I did everything right, I did what was expected of me to reach the American dream.

Now I’m to be punished for that.

So tell me WHY should I vote for obama?

You’d get a tax decrease, the tax increases will go to the ultra rich. Gene you think that since you don’t use any services that you shouldn’t have to pay them? How do you KNOW you haven’t used those services….the fire dept stopped a fire before it reached your home….

And trust me, if you ever have a wreck or a stroke, you’ll be darn glad to have those services available. You also get benefit from having an educated society.

All this from guy who referred to the “Obama Klan.” And who also gets upset whenever he’s called out under one of his past nicks.

There is nothing “light” about regs humor; it is laced with racism throughout. But to expect anything else from one of the 28%ers is to expect any degree of intelligence from the same: It ain’t going to happen. Maybe some day he will realize people being elected by a majority is the American way, but I doubt it.

It would be nice to have an election based on facts, not on innuendo and false claims, but that would require intelligence and forethought. And that is something far removed from from regs average post.

Actually, Pendant, the Hyundai is quite a car, having received the engineered car of the year award in 2004. It’s track record has improved yearly until it is one of the better cars on the market. I own one and love it. And if Obama is referred to as one, I would consider it a compliment:-)

It sounds like the same old lies and political spin that got into this mess in the first place…remember, like how the war was going to pay for itself and that the Iraqis were going to throw flowers when we invaded?
When are Americans going to realize that Bush has been a disaster to our country and to elect anyone who remotely thinks the same way WILL be “staying the course”. Can we afford more of the same?

Top down control. It takes a Village. the family is inconsequential in raising and training a child.

    WRONG.

Instilling a child with the modicum of right and wrong and the rewarding practice of hard work is the best instruction those who will be taking care of you in your golden years can receive.

This training comes from the family, not from the school. A society with strong families will produce better workers than one with million dollar physical education budgets.

    Yeah. Maybe. Ideally.

But what about those who happen to pick the wrong parents?

A lot of stupid people are incapable of just about anything productive to society other than produce babies. If you expect me to cede education standards to those people, stop expecting me to to pay for it.

The village does not take the place of famiy – it supplements the family. The village is the church, the school, the scout troop, the guy next door. That is all the book says is the village. It is NOT the State.
