Democrats in it, but can they win it?

donkeyKansas Democrats will be showing up on more ballots this election year, but can they make gains on election night? When the dust had settled from last week’s filing deadline, Democrats had 154 candidates for congressional, legislative and State Board of Education races, compared with 135 in 2004, the last time the full Legislature was up for re-election. Meanwhile, Republicans have lined up 196 candidates, compared with 234 in 2004. Most of the new Democratic candidates are running for the House, where the GOP holds 78 of 125 seats.

Yes we will. Maybe not all, and we might not do as well as some other states in displacing republicans, but I think overall, yes, republicans should be afraid.

I think (hope) it will be a bad year for Republicans.

And my rep is still unopposed, except by her own party in the primary. What a choice. (big eye roll)

    You should have run, KGrrl.

This is the election when the American people rise up and say, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.”

    Not gonna take what Clark?

    More tax increases?

    More Socialist spending?

Oh, that’s what YOU WANT, isn’t it? Higher taxes and more spending on your lil pet pork projects.

Yeah well, captain, I’m pretty sure a middle aged, gray haired, overweight, cap wearin’ lesbian farmgrrl delivering the bad news about water isnt a great candidate to WIN an election in western Kansas.

Or anywhere in Kansas for that matter….

And did I mention both political parties hate me?

    heheheheheheh!

Like the GOP ‘bridge to nowhere’? Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska pushed that one.

Or your boy Bush’s war – in the trillione!

    Can you build it?

Do you know how to build it?

    “Yes, we can.”

What about the price of Gas?

    “Yes, we can.”

How about all the tax increases you propose?

    “Yes, we can.”

    The new Democratic Party Mantra:

    “Yes, we can.”

What about pulling out the troops in Iraq?

    “Yes, we can.”

What about the Democratic party being the recipient of the most money from millionaires?

    “Yes, we can.”

What happened to the party of the people?

    “Yes, we can.”

I kept this small article from the Sunday, June 8, 2008 issue of the Eagle.

    “Voter registration

Voters have until July 21 to register to vote in the August primary. As of Sunday, Republicans held their traditional statewide majority over Democrats in registrations.

There were 739,070 Republicans registered. 448,475 unaffiliated and 447,419 Democrats. There also were 9,103 Libertarians and 1,365 registered with the Reform Party.”

Looks to me like it’s very possible to out vote the Republicans.

It will be interesting to learn if registrations are increased this year? Will more people register before the primary deadline? And, will we see increased registrations before the fall elections? I hope the Eagle does an update on the numbers.

Obama’s slogan is “Change we can believe in.”

Maybe “I’m not Bush. Unless you want me to be. Then I am.”

I recognize it as a pitiful attempt at levity, proving once again, not all Conservatives are stupid people, but all stupid people are Conservative.
