A Rasmussen Reports poll earlier this month gauged how Kansans felt about Gov. Kathleen Sebelius having hosted a 2007 reception bought at auction by Wichita abortion provider George Tiller. The results should give Sebelius and the nonprofit group Friends of Cedar Crest something to talk about: 44 percent said Sebelius shouldn’t have allowed the event at the governor’s mansion, and 51 percent said receptions at Cedar Crest should not be offered as fundraisers for groups such as the Greater Kansas City Women’s Political Caucus.

Before the state of Kansas acquired Cedar Crest, a previous “governors’ mansion” was a large old white wooden frame house located a few blocks northwest of the Kansas capitol building. I remember walking by there probably about 1959 and saying “hi” to Mrs. George Docking Sr. while she was working on the flower garden.
I suspect the State of Kansas acquired Cedar Crest in the early 1960’s, from a Topeka insurance company executive as I recall. Cedar Crest does set on a beautiful hill in west Topeka. Its north side looks over the Kansas River valley below. The Kansas Historical Museum and research center are located to the west on the same large site.
Cedar Crest has always had a lot of mechanical problems with heating, A.C., water/sewers, etc. Perhaps most of those have been improved over the years.
Of course, it is the official residence of Kansas governors whether or not they actually live there. It should be treated with respect by all governors who win that privilege.

H’mm, sorry for the double posting. Must be that gremlin again.
Tina Davis, former employee of Wichita abortionist quack George Tiller, has given recorded eye-witness testimony of the brutal stabbing murder of a moving, viable baby of 35 weeks gestation, born alive in Tiller’s abortion mill, some time during the last 2 years. The accused murderess is Shelley Sella, an abortionist quack from California employed part-time by Tiller to kill late-term babies and occasionally swill taxpayer-funded steak and lobster at Cedar Crest. Sella is the abortionist quack accused before a legislative committee of multiple violations of state laws and medical regulations in the coerced abortion inflicted on then high-school girl Michelle Armesto some years ago.
The murder has been reported to the Wichita Police Department and the Kansas Board of Healing Arts, and they have reportedly put on extra blinders and gone about other business, as has Kansas AG SixSixSix.
This murder, and other abortion mill crimes, will be discussed on Bott Radio Network’s “The Complete Story” at 2 pm Wednesday.
Fruitcake candidate Obamanation remains adamantly opposed to the Born Alive Infants Protections Act now signed into federal law to help prevent this kind of ruthless brutality.

Good work Wichita Eagle. Don’t shine the light on the elephant in the room. Concentrate on the ant. Keep crying “Poor use of Cedar Crest” again and again, and try not to bring attention to the fact that Tiller had a free reception until those dastardly Operation Rescue folks got wind of it. And don’t forget to remind people that the governor and Tiller have no political relationship. Now may not be a right time to bring it up but definitely do so in the future when this episode cools down.
You know I bet that if some other group got the mansion at the auction they’d be boasting about what a fabulous idea it was.
Quit whining just because you don’t like it.
Parkay you never answered me about how that McPherson pro-life chick chose life and went off her medications to have a healthy baby, just to sacrifice herself and her child when being without her meds caused her to break….. she will probably never be able to see her child again and will have a criminal record….all for your cause which you now admonish her for.
What if the KKK bid the highest price and had a reception there…wonder how you all would feel about that? Or maybe Fred Phelps?
I think it’s a stupid idea to make yourself that vulnerable to the special interests groups.
Not only is the whole thing sickeningly sleazy, but the governor tried to stick the rest of us with the bill. None of us believe that she walked downstairs and, lo and behold, there was an abortionist and his assistants expecting a party! What a surprise!
I’d like to see Operation Rescue bid for a reception there…after they fumigate the place.
Well I guess you won’t get the chance to now will you OR folks.
Just think of all the fun you could have had harassing Sebelius all night long with your incessant criticism.
And Newman still remains silent on the issue. Poor guy, getting caught in his tangled web of deceipt. Too bad he doesn’t gnaw off his own foot, that’d be entertaining.
