Boyda not vulnerable after all?

boydaFirst-term Rep. Nancy Boyda, D-Topeka — widely considered one of the most vulnerable Democrats in Congress — looks to be much stronger and more popular than previously thought, judging by surprising new poll results.

The survey by Anzalone Liszt Research found Boyda with a comfortable lead over her two current Republican challengers, leading ex-Rep. Jim Ryun by 17 points, 54 to 37 percent, and up 30 points over state Treasurer Lynn Jenkins, 57 to 27 percent. Moreover, 68 percent of respondents thought she was doing a good or excellent job.

If these numbers are accurate, then Boyda could be a shoo-in for re-election.

Rule #1: Never believe a political poll. They are always slanted to show the Democrat as being more popular than they really are.

What good is it for polling firms who have been hired by any kind of campaign to deliver a biased poll? The only way polling firms get jobs is to provide accurate polling…

regardless, these numbers will move after the Republicans start to attack Boyda.

Nancy Boyda was one of the first Co-sponsors of the SAVE act. She was one of the first to sign the discharge petition in the House to bring that important piece of legislation to the floor for a vote.

We need more Representatives like her. She actually listens to the people who elect her, not just those who write big checks for her reelection campaign.

Hopefully The 82% of Kansans who favor stopping ILLEGAL IMMIGRATRION will vote for her again.

while I’d take Boyda over Ryun any day, she does NOT listen to her constituents. She stated clearly that she was voting with Bush because the people elected him. Perhaps she forgot that SHE was elected in order to undo the republican rule.

And while I voted for Lynn Jenkins (I know, gasp, I voted for a republican!),I don’t know if I trust her in the voting capacity as a rep. she is still a republican afterall, and I can see her voting whichever way the party wants her to.

Hopefully she will continue to be and INDEPENDENT Democrat. On both sides of the aisle there is simply too much “towing the party line”. We need representatives who stand for the best interests of the voters who elect them, regardless of political party.

political_mama- you realize you’re upset about something Boyda said in the very, very first minutes of her term, right?

Have you paid any attention at all since then? Since your issue seems to be the war- she’s voted for a timetable for withdrawal, even as she votes to fund the troops while they’re still on the ground.

Disagree if you want, but don’t ignore 2 years of voters just because you didn’t like one interview.

Didn’t Boyda promise the business of Congress would get done, and get done on time?

Last years Budgets were approved - this year.

When will the budget’s due this year get passed?

Dem Majority, What is it good for?

    Absolutely Nuthin.

And Pelosi said the Dem Congress would take care of the price of gasoline too!

    How’d that turn out?

Jasonc_22, Why do you think campaigns hire their own private polling firms to tell them whats really happening in their district, state or the nation? Its because they know the Newsweeks, the cnn/gallup, and the others that are put out for public consumption are bogus. Newsweek is perhaps the worst. In 2004 they over sampled republican voters early in the race to show GWB ahead. Then just before election day they over sampled democrat voters to give the impression that Kerry had caught and passed GWB. They also like to sample registered voters instead of likely voters which tends to skew the results towards the democrat. Political polling is not so much a science as it is an art. The art of helping the preferred candidate and harming the opposition by discouraging his or her supporters. Also it can hurt a candidates ability to raise money if they are perceived to be losing. Political polling is much more about shaping public opinion and perceptions than it is about accuracy.

Ryun, isn’t he the one who wouldn’t let his children date, and who advocated arranged marriages for them a few years ago? Was just wondering how that worked out. Are his children still speaking to him?
