Amid all the fuss about Kansas’ current governor, columnist Louis Jacobson of the Web site Stateline.org recently pondered the state’s 2010 gubernatorial contest. He suggested “Kansas Democrats seem happy with Lt. Gov. Mark Parkinson†(in photo). Jacobson also named such possible GOP contenders as Sen. Sam Brownback, Reps. Todd Tiahrt and Jerry Moran, and Kansas Senate Majority Leader Derek Schmidt. This isn’t just about who gets to live in Cedar Crest, as Jacobson noted: A Democratic successor to Gov. Kathleen Sebelius could help keep the GOP-led Legislature from redrawing the 2nd and 3rd congressional districts to make them more resistant to Democrats (current Reps. Dennis Moore and Nancy Boyda, respectively).

Rhonda:
It’s unfortunate that every lazy elitist journalist wants to be a Tim Russert celebrity insider political commentator instead of doing any real investigative reporting. It’s a big waste of time to speculate about what will happen in 2010 in the same way it was a huge mistake by the political experts to try to convince us that Hillary’s nomination was inevitable. It so much easier & cheaper for the eAgle to print garbage opinions than it is to do anythink meningful to protect our democracy by doing investigtive reporting.
I keep on looking for Ron Sylvester’s new blog: “What the Judge Ate for Breakfast”
Was this a practical joke, or did some one at McLachy over rule the decision to allow Ron to post this blog? The cover up is always worse than the original crime. Some courageous or disgusted reporter at the Eagle needs to send an e-mail to corporate headquarters “Mr. Pruitt – There is a cancer on your presidency.”
Like every one else, I like to try to post my opinions to predict the future. I predict that the censorship by the Eagle to cover up the corruption & illegal activities in the city, county & state agencies and courts will be a naitonal story by the end of the year.
I’ll e-mail this comment to you and the ethics gurus at Poynter in the event that Sherry or Pam orders that my post is deleted.

If Kansas doesnt make water the number one issue in the 2010 governor’s race, it isnt going to matter who goes to Cedar Crest.
No kidding. We dont have one more election to waste if Kansas is to have ANY hope of heading off very real disaster, for cities, and ag and industry and recreation.
We better get us a governator who CARES about water and makes it the number one priority of his/her administration.
And Parkinson aint it. And neither are the repukes mentioned here. Someone of either party needs to rise up out of the ranks and, like Martin Luther, say “here I stand” on water issues.
They might be a one termer if they really make progress. It’s gonna piss EVERYONE off, of all stripes.
But the longer we put our collective fingers in our ears and sing “lalalalala”…
The sooner ALL the taps are going to run dry.
And like Springsteen, when he said “boys, these jobs they aint comin’ back”….
We’ll be saying “boys, this water aint comin’ back”.
I’m begging here. SOME candidate(s) have GOT to take on the water issues as soon as possible.
Hell, we’re worried about future energy needs while the water just quietly goes away.
Holcomb wont work without water. Ethanol wont work without water. There is very little non-water based recreation to draw tourists. MOST of it is water based in some way. Industry wont operate without water, cities and small towns alike will not flourish with out water.
And we’re worried about gasoline? heheheheheheheheh!
When water reaches $4.00 a gallon, then we’ll worry about it.
/sarcasm/
Since people are paying $2,69 per liter for some plastic bottle water from the sewers of God’s knows where, You gotta wonder.
As much as it has been raining lately, they can just come squeeze my lawn and get enough water to last five more centuries.

“If Kansas doesnt make water the number one issue in the 2010 governor’s race, it isnt going to matter who goes to Cedar Crest.”
Yeah. But sound policy and governance never seems to enter Kansas legislative races.
Putting up a water-guzzling power plant in the middle of what Zebulon Pike called “The Great American Desert” should be recognized as prima facia folly. Meanwhile, with this rainy spring rivers are fat in eastern Kansas and new-mown lawns return to thicket within a week.
if people dont like the choices listed then run yourselves
Can you build it?
“Yes, we can.”
Sounds like Bob the Builder.
Do you know how to build it?
“Yes, we can.”
What about the price of Gas?
“Yes, we can.”
How about all the tax increases you propose?
“Yes, we can.”
The new Democratic Party Mantra:
“Yes, we can.”
What about pulling out the troops in Iraq?
“Yes, we can.”
What about the Democratic party being the recipient of the most money from millionaires?
“Yes, we can.”
What happened to the party of the people?
“Yes, we can.”
Will you overtax the people?
“Yes, we can!”
And put them in harms way?
“Yes, we can!”
Will you negotiate with terrorists?
“Yes, we can!”
Will you try to appease terrorists and our enemies like Chamberlain did before WWII?
“Yes, we can!”
What states or territories are you going to give away to appease them?
“Yes, we can!”
Man I hope Rhonda is one of the employees the Eagle has to dump. Talk about dead weight.
