Well, at least we kow know what not-so-hot Toddie thinks of his own mother. I believe I find myself agreeing with her in wishing we hadn't bothered carrying him to term.

Another thing that gets me about how stupid Tiahrt's action is that he wanted peoples votes on record. It was a unanimous vote, so where was the confusion about how people voted?

I'm sure when it comes to voting himself another pay raise he won't obstruct the vote.

BFD.

1)Is THIS the priority of the current Congress? They were late in passing the budget last year, and they should be working on the next budget NOW. What’s wrong with getting it done early?

Gee, max, it's called politics, and has been going on, at least in this country, for over 200 years. But, right, they'll change because you asked so nice.

Uhm, that's been the point of the story from the beginning; how Tiahrt bogged down Congress with a stupid roll-call vote.

Please try to keep up.

I think we've shown remarkable self-restraint by not going for the obvious joke about "Regular's" inflatable sex doll.

I'm not surprised in the least to learn that "Regular" has mama issues.

Poor toilet training, perhaps, since I've heard he smells like he hasn't quite perfected the technique.

Most especially "procedural moves" which interfere with getting something done by the other party.

Two posters above said it well:

----------
Maggotpunk Posted May 11, 2008 at 10:57 am

So Tiahrt either voted against Mother’s Day (which the record shows) or he was just throwing a childish temper tantrum and mocking the institution of our government in order to merely waste taxpayer time and money for an unnecessary activity to make Congress less efficient.
----------

DavidB Posted May 11, 2008 at 8:00 am

I hated the way the “against motherhood” story was presented by the press… The REAL story is the way the Republican leadership will stoop to anything to obstruct confronting the issues, and constantly throws wrenches in the works to maintain the status quo…

Not that Tiahrt wouldn’t throw his mother and mine and yours under the bus to protect some powerful special interests….
----------

Those two posters have this situation nailed!

It was a procedural move and it was meaningless to a resolution that was redundant.

Procedure calls happen all the time in Congress.

Well, reg, how about this:
"On Wednesday afternoon, the House had just voted, 412 to 0, to pass H. Res. 1113, "Celebrating the role of mothers in the United States and supporting the goals and ideals of Mother's Day," when Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-Kan.), rose in protest.

"Mr. Speaker, I move to reconsider the vote," he announced."

It happened. Deal with it. He's your boy.

Ask yourself this question. Why pass a resolution for a day already declared Mother's Day?

Isn't that redundant?

Tiahrt and his fellow Repukes showed that their irrational hatred for Democrats exceed any respect that they might have for their own mothers. Isn't there something in the Bible about "Honor thy father and thy mother"?

Linda,
The cons should be back tomorrow sometime. They all went to bid on the Iraqi Adult Video Store Franchise that's being auctioned off at the Pentagon this afternoon. Todd bought the Iraqi Bordello Franchise yesterday and Satriale's was given the Iraqi Pork Distribution Rights on Friday.
