Sebelius’ star rising with Obama’s

sebeliusobamaWith the end of the nomination process finally in sight, the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza finally ranks the vice presidential possibilities. The Democrat most likely to join Barack Obama? Cillizza said it’s Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, “because of her ability to further bolster Obama’s strengths while not exacerbating his weaknesses. Picking Sebelius would affirm Obama’s core message of change and would give Obama’s run even more historic weight,” he wrote. “Sebelius’ electoral success in ruby red Kansas would also echo Obama’s pledge to broaden the playing field in the fall and ensure that the party is competitive in every state. The one knock on Sebelius is the dearth of foreign policy credentials on her resume. But she has six years of strong executive experience and could be the kind of political partner Obama needs in the fall.” The rest of the Democratic top five: Ted Strickland, Hillary Clinton, Tim Kaine and Sam Nunn.

In the top five spots to be John McCain’s running mate, Cillizza sees Tim Pawlenty, John Thune, Rob Portman, Charlie Crist and Mitt Romney.

I have long said that she would at the top of any Democrat’s list. She has what it takes and, although Kansas is red, it is really his home state and I expect he wants to win it in November.

He would choose a Liar. She is a thief. He would choose her and she wouldm continue to sabatoge Amerrica. The Kansas Legislature refused to removemher because they are set to continue recieving bribes. McCain sounds the best choice for President anyways. Yes, he wants bases in Iraq. As he has stated, “we have bases world wide”. They are places of peace and diplomacy. Obama needs 100% consultation. McCain uses consultation and experience. He doesnt sit back and sign as a puppet while others do it all. He is not just a “Rubber Stamp”. I dont agree with all his choices our politics. I dont agree 100% with anyone. I do feel his brains and heart are in the same direction. I feel that then opinion of the troops should guide us right know. We sit back in comfort while they are at War. Lets ask them their opinion. As to the economy, lets tell him and the other candidates what we feel here. Lets use the opinion poll of the troops for the choice in regards to War. Lets use the opinion poll here for the economy. McCain brains, heart and experience. Clinton, coattails and perkiness. Obama, “Yessir” in a white communicated way. Herbert West III west.herb@yahoo.com

What I like about our Governor is her grace and level-headedness, even when under fire. Just like Sen. Obama. Too bad fossils Herb and Don can’t claim any grace or level-headedness. For a Democrat to have 60% of the support of the electorate in a state with 50% registered Republicans is a testament to her qualifications to complement a presidential ballot that will unify America.

Quite frankly, I”m downright disgusted with the Democrats who have turned their backs on the Clintons. The Clintons didn’t deserve not a fraction of the hell republicans put them through, and only because they were GOOD at what they did for America.

If there was any question of how bad republicans are, this thread simply shows it. You get a republican president, and he does a decent job, and the democrats are happy that America is doing so well.

You get a Democratic President (or gov) who does a decent job- or even a GOOD job, and they can’t stop complaining and tearing them down. Its like…they don’t care how good or bad things are..as long as it is their party representing.

Sebelius has been a good governor, like it or not pukes, the polls have always favored her. So whine and cry somewhere else. You sound like Children. How about complaining about someone who is really doing a bad job, like your Legislators and President.

States that can vote in the elections: Guam, America Samoa, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and I believe there are more.
    ================================================
PM, they’re not states, and they can’t vote in the primary.

Guam is governed by a popularly elected governor and a unicameral 15-member legislature, whose members are known as senators. Guam elects one non-voting delegate, currently Madeleine Z. Bordallo, to the United States House of Representatives. Citizens in Guam vote in a straw poll for their choice in the U.S. Presidential general election, but since Guam has no votes in the Electoral College, the poll has no real effect. However, in sending delegates to the Republican and Democratic national conventions, Guam does have influence in the national presidential race, though these convention delegates are elected by local party conventions rather than voters in primaries.[2]

In the 1980s and early 1990s, there was a significant movement in favor of the territory becoming a commonwealth, which would give it a level of self-government similar to Puerto Rico and the Northern Mariana Islands. However, the federal government rejected the commonwealth version that the government of Guam proposed, due to it having clauses incompatible with the Territorial Clause (Art. IV, Sec. 3, cl. 2) of the United States Constitution. Competing movements with less significant influence exist, which advocate political independence from the United States, statehood, union with the Northern Mariana Islands as a single territory, or union with the current U.S. state of Hawaii.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guam

I spent eighteen months on Guam, and had a love/hate relationship with the island. There were problems with the youth and gangs, made up of native Chamorros, battling imported Filipinos who were hired as labor.

I played in a band, while building bombs for dropping on Nam, and saw first hand the problems. The island was also going under a major change at the time. Japan had rediscovered the island, and was buying it up left and right as a honeymoon retreat.

Many islanders went in native clothes prior to the 90’s. After a major hurricane struck the island, the missionaries told the people it was God punishing them for displaying their breasts. Sad to say, this happened just prior to my arriving. Darn!

The Democrats turned their backs on the Clintons? To be quite honest with you, Political Mama, I never did like the fact that Hillary and Bill both thought this nomination was going to be a cakewalk for Hillary. It’s been reported that Bill Clinton is working behind the scenes and going around to these Super Delegates and telling them that ‘it is Hillary’s turn’.

That is not how the nomination process goes. There should be choices to choose from and this year we had quite a few running. I’m glad Obama gave Hillary a run for her money. And I’m disappointed in the Clintons in their behavior within the past year.

And what I hear from people in my neighborhood is that they do not particularly want the Bush-Clinton-Bush Jr-Clinton dynasties to continue. Perhaps this is the year that the majority of Americans want true change and the After all, voting for McCain is just another Bush in disguise.

Barack Obama believes he has already secured the private support of enough super-delegates to beat Hillary Clinton in the race for the Democratic White House nomination, The Sunday Telegraph has learned.

The Illinois senator last week switched his attention to the general election battle against John McCain after locking down more than enough pledges to reach the victory target of 2,025 delegates.

A senior Democrat strategist, familiar with discussions at the highest levels of the Obama camp, has revealed that Mr Obama is now confident of the support of around 120 of the remaining 260 undeclared superdelegates.

His aides believe he will only need between 70 and 80 to be sure of the nomination if he wins the Oregon, Montana and South Dakota primaries as expected ater this month.

Using campaign funds for one elective office in an election for another office did not become illegal until the Kansas Supreme Court issued their decision in Cole v. Mayans in Dec. 2003. I have no idea if the Governor used funds from her Insurance Commissioner campaign in her first run for Governor, but if she did it was considered an acceptable use in 2002 when she ran. In fact, the Governmental Ethics office told Carlos Mayans - before the Supreme Court disagreed - that it was OK to use his leftover funds from being a State Representative to run for mayor. They would have told the Governor the same thing, if they had been asked.

Sooo, Herbie, you can’t with credibility argue that the Governor did anything illegal because she would have been using those campaign funds in a manner that was considered legal by Governmental Ethics. You can’t charge someone with a crime for doing something that was legal at the time of your actions. Attempts to do so are called ex post facto laws, and are unconstitutional. If you done any research on this issue before you stuck your head out from under the rock (again) you would have known better. But noooo, you would rather make wild-eyed, frivolous accusations which prove your lack of character.

Ok Kelly. She became Governor in 2004. Her first 4 years were 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007. Her first year on this term was 2008. It was ILLEGAL all along. It was just clarified on a case in 2003. She campaigned in 2003 and took Office in 2004. She knew it was Illegal. The State Rep who became Mayor had to resign do to the findings. As a Candidate for Sheriff I cannot except campaign funds from another candidate from any campaign funds they have, nor can I transfer any funds of my own from any prior campaign at all. Funds are not transferable. If I loose my bid for Sheriff this year. I cannot transfer those funds to anyone else, nor can I use them for myself in any campaign if I run again. Please justify your terminology of, “Crawling out from under a rock”. The statute that was clarified was on the books. It still is. She knew it was Illegal. She knew the campaign finace Laws as a former state candidate. I know them now. Can I abuse them and break the Law because dumbasses like you want her to slide thru because a female needs to be in office? The Office needs a female? I feel you are a “BIGOT” for blaming me, because how dare I question a woman. She is wrong, male or female!! She broke the Law, do to breaking the amounts allowed and the groups or people that the funds came from in the way she chose to campaign. Once they are declared they are designated. Once designated the funds are not transferable for 6 years on a 4 year term or 4 years on a 2 year term, to any other campaign. The only way legal is, if she had funds left over she could transfer them into her personal account and then declared her personal account as the resources for another campaign if she was not using “ANY” donations or fund raising at all from others other than self finance. If she completely self financed her campaign she could have transfered the funds to an account set as to such which any and all candidates must do by law. Each candidate has to set up a seperate account for campaign use only. If I choose to, I can contribute as much as I want to my Sheriff Campaign? I would have to refuse any and all outside donations etc:, to do this. If I except 1 penny from donations or campaign fund raising, I have to follow the guidelines of limits from my personal funds and I cannot transfer funds that derived from any prior campaign in the 6 year or 4 year statute of limitations. Stop embarassing yourself, because you clearly do not know what you are talking about. The last presidential election was in 2004, and the last gubernatorial election was in Nov 2006. She will complete this last term in office in Jan. 2011 when a new governor is inaugerated after being elected in Nov. 2010. Let me put it another way: Governors, congressmen and women, secretary of states and attorney generals, and Kansas statehouse senators and reps are ALWAYS elected in even-numbered years, and officially take office the following Jan.

You have metaphorically “crawled out from under a rock” like the proverbial “missing link” because you have no sense of history, or truth, or history of being interested in investigating the truth before you blather. And, oh by the way, Carlos Mayans did not have to resign being Mayor after losing the lawsuit. He just had to repay the improperly used funds. Mayans served out his 4-year term as mayor, until he was defeated last year - 2007, April. If you doubt any of this, ask Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh what was election day when Sebelius was first elected, or last elected. Feel free to ask Carol Williams at Governmental Ethics also. Hell, consult any Kansas newspaper archive.

She campaigned in 2002 with her Insurance Commission Money. This is ILLEGAL. See K.S.A. 25-4157a{c}. It explains the transfer of funds. Mayans had to replace/repay these funds. Governor Sebelius is and was wrong. Why is she allowed to keep or use her funds from one campaign to the other? And yea, bth, your just as stupid as Kelly. The practice of using campaign funds from one office to pursue a different office was not declared illegal until Dec. 2003 when Cole v. Mayans was decided by the Kansas Supreme Court. Governmental Ethics even thought it was legal until then. So just how could it have been illegal in 2002 when Sebelius was running for Governor? ‘Nuf said.

The statute is listed from 1989-1998. She knew the Law. Again 25-4157a, section c, stipulates all I have stated. I dont need a Supreme Ruling to understand the statute. It is very explanitory. It has not been updated, nor revised. It is still dated, 1989-1998. It is current and holds a copyright from 2002-2008, on the Kansas.gov website. “”"2002″”"!! “I know how to do the math. 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 was her first 4 years”

Well Herb - which is it? You must REALLY be stupid since it took “stupid Kelly” to make you correct your dates! Kind of like your boy McBush having to be repeatedly corrected by Lieberman about Sunnis and Shiites!

    Candidate for Sheriff - HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

    ;)

bth, which is the dates.? 2008 is her first year in this 4 year term. She made Governor in 2003, and innaugarated in 2004. 2004 was her firts year? 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 was her first 4 year term. 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 will be her 2nd 4 year term. Where did I miss figure, smartass? Besides, if she had money left over from her campaign, she had 4 options to disernate the extra funds from her campaign. 1. Political Committee, 2. State General Fund, 3. Qualified Charity/Church, 4. Party Committee, Republican or Democratic. When these funds were declared and the Campaign Account was closed she had to forfiet these funds accordingly. They could not give them back for another Campaign run. She got the funds back from where she had filed the remainder to the exceptable 4 by statute. If she did this she would not have access to the funds to transfer them. In this, the funds were given under false pretence. If I loose my bid at Sheriff and give my left over funds, after expenditures, to a church/charity. I cannot then run for another Office later and get the funds back from the same church/charity. This is Illegal. Who “Laundered” her funds and gave them back? Grab a paper bag JR before reading pass this!

In a discussion of whom would make a good VP for Obama and yes Sebellius name was discussed.
But the last one was …. Chuck Hagel, Republican from Nebraska whom is retiring from the Senate.
All the talking heads said Hagel was the best choice, I have to admit it does sound good on paper anyway.

“She made Governor in 2003, and innaugarated in 2004.”

WRONG! Elected Nov 2002. Inaugurated 2003.

    Re-elected Nov 2006. Started 2nd term 2007.

” Where did I miss figure, smartass?”

As I just described dumbass. As you even admitted at 12:15 with “Kelly, I know how to do the math. 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 was her first 4 years. 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010, will be her 2nd term”

So, you went back to your incorrect dates. Question: are all of your charges as (in)accurate as your ability to read a calendar?

Candidate for Sheriff - this is gonna be fun to watch!

Get your grand jury Herb. Put up or shut up!

w-dog - Hagel would bring foreign policy. Interesting. Also, of course, disaffected non-neocon Republicans.

Neither Obama nor Clinton can reach the 2,025 delegates needed to secure the nomination just through the final contests in five states and Puerto Rico. The means the superdelegates — the nearly 800 party leaders and elected officials who may vote for whichever candidate they choose regardless of the state primary or caucus results — are essential to capturing the nomination.

Clinton’s best chance to slow Obama is to buy herself more time by moving back the finish line. She will get that chance May 31 when the Democratic National Committee’s rules panel considers proposals to seat delegates that had been stripped from Florida and Michigan after they violated party rules by holding their primaries too early. If the delegates are reinstated that would increase the number of delegates needed to get the nomination to 2,209.

Even under the best scenario for Clinton, Obama would still be left with a lead of about 100 delegates, with fewer than 250 superdelegates left to be claimed.

To: bth, eventhough I am 1 year off, she still laundered her campaign funds, “smartass”! It wont always take a Grand Jury. The Ethic Commission can review her Funds at anytime. She still transfered funds, after she had placed them under false pretences. Herbert West III, Candidate for Sheriff, Miami County Ks, as of May 7th 2008. west.herb@yahoo.com
