Congratulations to David Rundle for receiving the Arc of Sedgwick County Adult Achiever of the Year award. The award recognizes citizens who have overcome disabilities to find success. Kevin Fish — executive director of the Arc, a non-profit agency serving individuals with developmental disabilities — said that not only has Rundle found personal success, he has become a “wonderful advocate†for people with disabilities. Rundle, who has cerebral palsy and epilepsy, writes commentaries for The Eagle, primarily on disability issues. “We need to help bring the needs of the disabled to the attention of the public and government,†Rundle said. “If I help do that as a writer, I am glad.â€

Bravo! I’m glad the Eagle hires people with disabilities, more should take note.
Way to go David!
Yes, I am familiar with both the man and his writing.
David has written for more than the Eagle. And he writes about more than disability concerns, he is not easily categorized, and he makes people think if they bother to read what he writes.

Mr. Rundle is a wonderful writer, and provides a valuable and much-needed perspective on disability issues in the political arena, and for our community.
Congratulations, Mr. Rundle, you are a credit to your profession.
Indeed, congratulations, David. Enjoy reading your commentary.
Thank you for your work..
Just compare his work with values boy’s and you gotta wonder…
why cant vb overcome HIS disabilities? Like bigotry?
A mind is a TERRIBLE thing to waste…
So WE… how about putting Rundle in place of the so called “values” boy?
I bet more folks share RUNDLE’s values than the idiot formerly known as castillo.
And values boy has won, um, HOW many awards?
But… I guess replacing the resident bigot with Rundle wouldnt draw in all those wingnut subscribers.
And imagine the hue and cry from the poor persecuted wichita taliban if values boy’s writing was recognized for what it is?
Birdcage liner.

I would second that. David used to have regular editorials published in the Ark Valley News (I am not sure why those seem to have stopped, but the publication did change ownership recently). He tends left, but not across the board. Like I said, I don’t imagine anyone would be comfortable with 100% of what he writes, but that is what comes from a complex writer with depth.

On the other hand, the Eagle does publish the guy I think is the best syndicated columnist in the country, Leonard Pitts, who, like David, really isn’t a guy who consistently writes within anyone’s comfort zone.
