I’ve got a better idea. Let’s put every kid on birth control (males the instant an effective one is found) and they don’t get to go off it until they’ve passed a comprehensive (possibly 4 yr.) course covering every detail of marriage and raising a family, and all the responsibilities entailed, including hands-on training in changing chernobyl diapers, and before and after pregnancy nude photos, AND they have a permanent, non dead-end job with a decent paycheck. To quote Old Amarante in “The Milagro Beanfield War,” “Nobody would do anything if they knew what they were in for!”
By the way, watch out about that talk of aborting morons- eugenics doesn’t work, and besides you’d end up eliminating a large portion of your republican base.
Having raised three kids, I understand your position on extremely late-term abortions. My own feeling is that a kid doesn’t become fully human until he leaves home. While I probably wouldn’t have aborted my kids as teenagers, the possibility that it might happen would have given me some much-needed leverage in trying times!

I’m so for abortion, it’s unbelievable! And I’m a republican. H@ll, I think they should force a parent to abort the child if they can’t show means to support it, or get non governmental help in doing so.

I’d even go as far as to say that if you raise a moran, it should be your duty to kill it! Kind of like an honor killing, but not for the stupid reasons the Muslims do it. Only for real important stuff, like listening to rap music AND living the lifestyle (I listen to it, but I know it’s not “real” and don’t adapt any kind of lifestyle around it)

Valid point – to which I would add two observations:

1. It was of limited effectiveness, and

2. In an ‘off-year’ election you have hundreds of individual races instead of one integrated campaign. It is difficult to establish a multi-issue approach for that.

As if the Democrats ran on anything other than being against the Iraq war last election cycle?

We all have our single issues and nearly every candidate or party or person tries to focus on what is most important to them or what will give them the most electability.

Someone will try to find some issue to drive a wedge against those they oppose.

That is politics….

It won’t be as easy with the multi-married philanderer candidate they’ve chosen. I’m afraid they’ll need to walk a careful line or their “family values” may slap them up side of the head. Or maybe this won’t bother them one iota since IOKIYAR. They do seem to have one set of expectations for the opponent and a differing set for themselves.
