My prediction: If I click on the link that old man price posted at 6:42, it will take me to a science denial website.
Anyone want to test that prediction?
In short, Britain’s Labour Party has discarded its “progressive” principles for environmental fear-mongering and salvationist rhetoric in the expectation that voters would accept that only government control, central planning and higher taxes could prevent global disaster.
Actually my dear Apophis,
It’s a political/financial link. It seems that Heckler has it right. He obviously took time to go to the link.
It is very important that you don’t. The world is starting to realize the crock of crap that the Goracle and his minions, the scientific grant whores, are trying to feed us.
I knew old man price couldn’t resist indulging his obsession with denying global climate change. It doesn’t matter if you label it a “political/financial link”, your denial of credible science is apparent.
……..too predictable!
ON Scott McClellen’s book, it was not long after the news broke that the standard dismissal was heard. “Well he is just trying to sell his book!”. Every time I hear that I envision Moses coming down from the mountain and reading off the Ten Commandments. Suddenly one Hebrew turns to another, “Man did you hear what God just said?.
The Hebrew he is talking to replies, “Well he is just trying to sell his book!”. You can not dismiss everything with it is just for personal gain.
Perhaps the sadist dismissal came with “ this is just common knowledge, everyone already knew all this.”.
Its sad because it is all too true, everyone already knew what happen with the build-up. The American people are divided into two camps. You either believe your lying eyes or you do not. Neither has any real comfort in it.
Picking up from yesterday’s discussion about whether the Supreme Court told American democracy to drop dead so they could install Worst. President. Ever.
They did.
In a widely cited study, the media consortium found that RepubliCONs had stole the election but strangely buried the finding under a host of meaningless “scenarios.”
The bottom line is this: “If all the ballots had been reviewed under any of seven single standards, and combined with the results of an examination of overvotes, Mr. Gore would have won.” — Ford Fessenden And John M. Broder, New York Times, November 12, 2001
Overvotes, in which the hole is punched for Gore and the name of Gore is written in, are legal votes. They should have and would have been counted under the Florida Supreme Court ruling.
Instead the Federal Supreme Court violated its own CONservative vow of non-interference of states’ rights issues (which voting is) and interposed themselves to change the outcome and screw democracy.
The result speaks for itself.
Writer Dog
Worse President ever —- he sets the example for the rest of the nation, his behavior is eventually mimicked by his followerrs —- in this case the people who made him —- made him a liar too
When this administration is done — I sincerely hope the new attorney general will launch an investigation in to the lying deceit of this administration …… would love to see Rove and Cheney in Orange suits in a perp walk ……
We will continue to see the biggest tell all cottage industry in Washington. But remember, they’ll be selling their books for profit! WPE that served the SPE (stupidest people ever).
I also heard the “fault” should be attributed to the liberal medias because they didn’t do their job in reporting the abuses and keeping the administration honest.
and
It was Scott McClellen who should be held accountable because he didn’t object AT THE TIME and that means he missed his chance and can’t now complain.
Worse yet — there will be some who will believe these or other excuses. You can’t fix stupid!
Let’s just get these idiots out of office before they start another unnecessary war.
Charles Barkley Quote
Short and sweet!!!!
“Poor People have been voting for Democrats
for the last 50 years,……….and they are still poor.”
That’s because too many stupid middle class and poor continue to be deceived and vot Republican. Can’t fix stupid.
Since the Eagle has yet to cover McClellan’s book, I do hope they cover it once it’s released. Otherwise majority Kansans won’t know what’s in it. So Eagle, consider it a community service.
Presidential candidate Barak Obama
“I had an uncle who was part of the first American troops to go into Auschwitz and liberate the concentration camps. The story in our family was that when he came home, he just went up into the attic and he didn’t leave the house for six months,” Obama said. “Now, obviously something had really affected him, but at that time there just weren’t the kinds of facilities to help somebody work through that kind of pain.”
Buchenwald,” campaign spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement.
“Yesterday he mistakenly referred to Auschwitz instead of Buchenwald in telling of his personal experience of a soldier in his family who served heroically.”
OOPS!
So he got the details of an old uncle’s war story obfusicated, big deal. Now, if it’s been his own war story, there might be a story there.
Wow, LJ.
What a gaffe!
Next thing you know, we’ll be hearing about how GW said something about a dire threat from Iraq before we invaded . . .
Like Reagan did.
You know what else?
Obama is left-handed.
Here’s a guy that didn’t even have the common decency to choose to be right-handed like everybody else . . .
From Scott McClellan
““I still like and admire President Bush,” McClellan writes”
“didn’t learn that what I’d said was untrue until the media began to figure it out almost two years later.
“Neither, I believe, did President Bush.”
So, do we believe only the negatives about the Bush administration in the book, or all of it?
Actually, Charles Barkley is wrong.
The poor generally don’t vote at all for either party.
And with good reason–they know that neither party is genuinely interested in helping them.

Maybe not a major point, and I still support Obama, but damn, he can;t even remember what concentration/death camp his great uncle helped liberate? I personally have had enough of stupidity in the past 8 years.
LJ there has been an ongoing debate on just how evil bush is, or is he just totally incompetent. You are posting some support for the latter. Way to go. History will have to be the ‘deceider’.
I couldn’t even tell you the names of my Great Uncles.
I will believe what has since been proven true — with investigations, through the courts, history, etc. Those parts that are Scott McClellan “opinions” are his “take.” They may be based on facts but even then they are his “take” on those facts. That’s what an opinion always is. He like all of us looks at all available and draws conclusions. Is that “empirical evidence?” No, it is opinion.
His “opinions” of bush innocence aren’t shared by me. I can’t look at the same facts he looks at and still like or admire bush.
I’m with you, Phantom! Our family has some genealogists (thank goodness!) and they can tell you the names, birth and death dates, how many children, who they married… back really far. It’s a good thing every family has this person or people who find that fascinating, so those like me don’t have to remember.
I think its a feat that Obamma remembered everything accurately except the name of the concentration camp!
“The world is starting to realize the crock of crap that the Goracle and his minions, the scientific grant whores, are trying to feed us.”
Geez will somebody put this fossil in a museum already?
Put him next to the dinosaur bones. He’s extinct too. He just isn’t ready to admit it.

8******************************************
If you are going to trot out a story to make a point, which is what he was doing, he shoulda got it right. Why be an apologist?
” think its a feat that Obamma remembered everything accurately except the name of the concentration camp!”
What exactly did he remember? The name of the uncle? The concenration camp? Hmmm. seems like neither one, he only “remembers” some family story about how is great uncle came home from war and stayed home for months. So, was it months, Or weeks> or days? or years? Or did he just remember it when his speechwriter wrote a nice little story?
Again, after the last 8 miserable years, I am giving ANY of these SOBS a a break, why are you?
“And with good reason–they know that neither party is genuinely interested in helping them.”
Hum…maybe if they’d help themselves their situation would improve.
Sounds like a good plan, ‘don’t wait for somebody else to do it for you…get off the porch and do it yourself’.
“littlejohn” squirms with –
“…do we believe only the negatives about the Bush administration in the book, or all of it?”
Without invoking Godwin’s Law, there were plenty of people in Germany who admitted they were caught up in the charisma and rhetoric of Adolph Hitler. At the time. And they wonder what or how it was that sucked them into such evil.
Yeah. George WMD Bush might be a “great” politician in history simply because he connived his way into a presidency and second term simply by manipulating the political process du jour.
But you have to believe he was really calling the shots. And there’s simply no evidence that Shrub was ever anything more than a figurehead in the right-wing machine.
McClellan, as with so many former Shrub Administration outcasts, finally came to his senses. Most of America (minus the 23% crazies) has caught up with the disaster George WMD Bush’s presidency has spawned.
And McBush promises four more years of it.

I think someone has a little problem of not being able to see the forest for the trees.
Probably because I accept all of them as being human. I’m not as concerned about remembering a family story and don’t think it unusual to not recall the details. His point was made to those who choose to listen. But for those who choose to pick nits they have another to pick.
He speaks each day, several times a day, and travels and doesn’t have great amounts of down time. I admire ALL of their stamina! Much as I hate bush (and I DO hate him!) I can understand why he spent so much of the first months in office at “the ranch,” relaxing. Campaigning looks exhausting!
hlp: The National Post is right wing of Attila the Hun and it’s founder/publisher is Conrad Black, you know the guy who just got 5-8 years for screwing stockholders and stealing pensions moneys after hollowing out corporations, now a convicted felon. Black gave up his citizenship to get/buy the title “Lord” in England. The National Post is a joke in the country it’s published
“I’m not as concerned about remembering a family story and don’t think it unusual to not recall the details. His point was made to those who choose to listen. But for those who choose to pick nits they have another to pick.”
So, was it a “story” with a good point, or was it a
piece of “family history”? Just because you support or don;t support someone, doesn;t mean you don’t hold their feet to the fire. Bush is a prime example. The outrages over BUsh “mispeaking” on the board, and in the press go on and on. Rightly so. SO, let’s hold them ALL to the same standard. But then, perhaps facts aren;t important, as long as the idea is conveyed?
Of course, in a very simplistic way, you’re right, Boxlock.
People bent on self-destructive behavior like meth addicts can’t really be helped if they don’t help themselves.
Granted.
On the other hand, how do you ask little kids to “help themselves” by doing something like reducing the lead in their environment?
http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2008-05-27-lead-levels-crime_N.htm
In what may be the strongest link yet between lead exposure and crime rates, researchers at the University of Cincinnati on Tuesday released new evidence, spanning more than 20 years, that draws a direct relationship between the amount of lead in a child’s blood and the likelihood he or she will commit crimes as an adult.
Research has shown before that lead has harmful effects on judgment, cognitive function and the ability to regulate behavior. But until now the best research focused on juveniles, not adults.
Now, researchers have collected data from as early as 1979 when pregnant women and their healthy babies had their blood drawn regularly at four Cincinnati medical clinics. By the time the children were 7, researchers had a complete portrait of lead levels.
Nearly two decades later, the researchers tracked down 250 of the subjects, ages 19-24. Controlling for a host of factors, including parental IQ, education, income and drug use, the team found that the more lead in a child’s blood from birth through age 7, the more likely he or she was to be arrested as an adult. The tie between high lead levels and violent crime was particularly strong.
Children in poor neighborhoods are often exposed to high levels of lead from old lead paint in dilapidated homes.

How do poor people become better citizens when the substandard housing they’re forced to live in actually makes them poor?
See also this article:
http://article.wn.com/view/2008/02/19/paul_krugman_poverty_poisons_brains/?template=cheetah-article%2Fdisplayarticle.txt
“Poverty in early childhood poisons the brain.” That was the opening of an article in Saturday’s Financial Times, summarizing research presented at a meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. As the article explained, neuroscientists have found that “many children growing up in very poor families with low social status experience unhealthy levels of stress hormones, which impair their neural development.”
*****
You have taken the very complex problem of poverty and boiled it down to a simple Horatio Alger morality tale–”the poor are lazy.”
Obviously, environment also has a huge impact as these studies clearly show.
BTW, the hazards of lead from paint and leaded gasoline were fully known since Austria outlawed leaded gasoline in 1913.
The US continued to use lead paint through the 60’s and leaded gasoline through the 70’s.
So much for “unregulated capitalism is always in your best interest . . . “
Have at it, littlejohn. Hold their feet to the fire. I think there are subjects important to America and others not worth spending my time and effort on. But you get to spend your time and effort doing what you see as right and good. I don’t know exactly where you’re planning to find this perfection you seek among mankind but it’s worth seeking!

so, did Austria outlaw lead paint also?
Did other countries? Was it only AUstria that was so enlightened? Was it only in legal in capitolist
countries? Seriously.
Not only is your theory simplistic, Boxlock, it is also self-serving.
If you blame the poor for being poor (”they’re just lazy”), you then absolve yourself of any responsibility for helping the poor.

Linda-
It was HIS speech, not mine. It was HIS uncle, not mine? It was his misremembering, not mine. I am not running for office. If I were running for office, and I went to make a point like he did, in a prepared speech, I would go to lenghts to make sure it was accurate? Do you not think it important to be accurate? Or just that the right point was made?
It was the Soviets that liberated Auscwhitz, not the Americans. So did he just dream up the entire story, or just the details? Did he just dream up the wrong name? Why would he get that wrong? Sorry, I am not giving him a bye here. I find his “mistake” minor in detail, but much higher in importance. I do not look for perfection. W

HEE HEE HEE!
Read ‘em and weep boys. Gay marriages will begin in California on June 14.
And there isnt a DAMN thing you can do about it!
http://www.planetout.com/news/article.html?date=2008/05/27/2
Have a safe trip to California, farmgrrl.
Funny how wingnuts say “love it or leave it” to the gay folks, but for Mexicans, it’s “Stay there and fix it”.
You just cant make this stuff up.
Unless yer a wingnut.
And in case it never entered your pea brain, RFL, it’s a little difficult to move a farm.
But thanks for playing. We are amused, and we DO encourage you to try again.
“Still, he doesn;t get a pass. Not from me, nor should he get one from anybody”
So what the Hell do you want him to do? Slash his wrists?
Damn – he corrected the mistake – what else should he do?
Bin Laden must be desperate to keep us in Iraq. I see he’s trying to do his part for the party by urging extremist to use WMD’s against the West. Fortunately, in the 7 yrs. since 9/11 bush has secured our borders, ports, and air cargo so the threats are empty. Riiiiight.
Congratulations, KsFarmGrrl, on the gay marriage victory in California.
Now gay folks will get to learn the beautiful thing that marriage is, the eventual ennui and the nagging, the break-up and splitting up of the household in a hate-filled divorce, custody battle of the dog etc.
Enjoy.
(Just kidding with my usual jaundiced view . . .)
It wasn’t when bush misspoke that was the exception, it was the rule.
Oh, his campaign said he mispoke, so everything is okay. Is that it? How many times must he misspeak or be corrected before we start to take notice?
“Gore a former US vice president who has become a leading international voice in the cause against global warming, was co-winner of this year’s Nobel Peace Prize. Gore’s effort was highlighted by his Oscar winning documentary film An Inconvienent Truth.
Klaus, an economist, said he opposed the “climate alarmism” perpetuated by environmentalism trying to impose their ideals, comparing it to the decades of communist rule he experienced growing up in Soviet-dominated Czechoslovakia.
“Like their (communist) predecessors, they will be certain that they have the right to sacrifice man and his freedom to make their idea reality,” he said.
“In the past, it was in the name of the Marxists or of the proletariat – this time, in the name of the planet,” he added.
Klaus said a free market should be used to address environmental concerns and said he oppposed as unrealistic regulations or greenhouse gas capping systems designed to reduce the impact of climate change.
“It could be even true that we are now at a stage where mere facts, reason and truths are powerless in the face of the global warming propaganda,” he said.
Klaus alleged that the global warming was being championed by scientists and other environmentalists whose careers and funding requires selling the public on global warming.
“It is in the hands of climatologists and other related scientists who are highly motivated to look in one direction only,” Klaus said.”

The Chez president doesn’t agree with Al Gore and GW advocates and he wants a chance to debate it. Are any GWs man enough to step up?
And gay folks in California can… wait for it…. BE MARRIED IN CHURCH!
HEEEEEEEE!
And no one forced the church to do the right thing.

PASADENA – All Saints Church in Pasadena, one of the largest and most liberal Episcopalian congregations in the country, announced Thursday it will begin performing wedding ceremonies for gay couples starting June 16.
In what All Saints Rector the Rev. Ed Bacon called a “historic vote,” church officials adopted the “Resolution on Marriage Equality” unanimously Thursday, after a special meeting of the 3,500-member congregation’s lay leadership.
The church’s action came in response to the California Supreme Court’s May 15 ruling overturning the ban on gay marriage approved by voters in 2000.
All Saints has performed blessings for same-sex couples for the past 15 years.
But Bacon described the church vestry’s vote as showing “stirring courage to move beyond lip service” to the church’s commitment to equality by extending marriage rights to gay members.
“Today’s decision is consistent with All Saints Church, Pasadena’s identity as a peace and justice church,” Bacon said in a statement Thursday. “It also aligns us with the Scriptures’ mandate to make God’s love tangible by `doing justice and loving mercy’ (Micah 6:8) and with the canons of our Episcopal Church that forbid discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.”
Those against same-sex marriage have vowed to overturn the appeals court’s decision by putting a constitutional amendment initiative on the November ballot.
Parkay- they found a dumpster baby in McPherson. I know you’ll be elated at that news, the once scarce phenomenon has been hitting Kansas specifically because of the work you’ve been doing to limit girls and women’s resources. So be proud man. Look at all the lives you’re ’saving’.
“it’s a little difficult to move a farm.”
Damn. I truly wish you could take a quick flight to LA – get hitched – and come on home and have a HUGE celebration.
Man, I’d even make up a batch of my world famous deviled egg ‘tater salad for the occasion.
Maybe one day, Ms. Grrl………………….
where’s rfl?
(crickets chirping)
He must be calling his pastor to find out what to say next. Or perhaps…
He’ll appear shortly as john stone?

I missed the whole context, but it seems the main point is HOW the uncle (irrelevant of his name) was AFFECTED (reguardless of WHICH camp) and there was no support system in place at the time to deal with such things. The reference to ‘…story in our family…’ could lead one to believe that the story could’ve easily been related to him incorrectly, or it was just something he’d heard as a wee lad. I’m sure the Grand Canyon isn’t nearly as big as I remember it from 45 plus years ago when I was 4 years old.
I’m so happy for the GLBT community, horray!
That’s how many states now? And more will soon follow.
I read that conservative SCOTUS judges were also siding more with worker’s rights, which is a very good thing.
Good morning junior!
Still living with your mommy? How’s that working for ya?
Thanks Clark.
But given that more than seventy percent of kansans hold their bigotry dear, the marriage wouldnt be recognized in dear old kansas.
Kansas… as bigoted as you think!
Pmom, the only other state where gay marriage is legal is Massachusetts.
You know, where they have one of the LOWEST divorce rates in the nation?
hehehehehhehehheheehhee…..
“The reference to ‘…story in our family…’ could lead one to believe that the story could’ve easily been related to him incorrectly, or it was just something he’d heard as a wee lad. ”
And perhaps not true at all.
“How many times must he misspeak or be corrected before we start to take notice?”
Take notice of what? He misspoke – it happens to everyone – it was a minor, unintentional mistake.
It’s not like he cherry picked intel to sell an unnecessary war to the American public.
farmgrrl has obviously never been to California because she does not realize that California is one of the most agriculturally active states in the 50. Just about every produce you can buy in the supermarket is grown in California.
So I am shocked.
You mean farmgrrl is not leaving? After being denied her right to marry for so long while living in “bigoted and wingnutty” Kansas, one would think that she sould jump at a chance to enjoy equal treatment with man/woman marriages in wonderful California.
I wonder what farmgrrl’s partner has to say about this. I am sure that she is bummed to have to endure being treated as a single person simply because of a farm that apparently can not be sold.
OR, maybe her life in “bigoted and wingnutty” Kansas is not so miserable afterall.
Can’t figure this one out. If being gay in a state that does not recognize gay marriages is so bad, than why does farmgrrl stay?
The lush farms in California are calling you farmgrrl.
“ksfarmgrrl” –
I forgot to mention yesterday how thankful your farm dodged the latest round of twisters.
Yeah, you shoulda been in the basement instead of looking out your kitchen window, but they’re damned impressive storms to look at, aren’t they.
I saw my first one in the flesh several years ago while driving across the Flint Hills. I was driving for a Kansas politician who was asleep in the passenger seat. For several minutes I was transfixed on the big ol’ funnel on the left side of the highway.
“Is that a tornado?” I finally asked.
He woke up and said, “Holly s#it! That’s a tornado! And a big’n!”
Turns out it was bigger than either of us imagined since it was a couple of miles away and sucked up several head of cattle grazing out on the prairie. But it was so damned big, it seemed right on us.
Anyway. Glad you and yours are safe.
KFG, Didn’t Jenna say Degeneres (however you spell that) could get married on daddy Bush’s farm on Ellen’s show?
Does a Cali marriage certificate transfer to Texas or is that a special dispensation from the Prez?
Yes, it happens to everyone, as is shown:
“Obama misspoke about his being conceived because of Selma. “Mr. Obama relayed a story of how his Kenyan father and his Kansan mother fell in love because of the tumult of Selma, but he was born in 1961, four years before the confrontation at Selma took place. When asked later, Mr. Obama clarified himself, saying: ‘I meant the whole civil rights movement.’” [New York Times, 3/5/07]”
Obama was forced to revise his assertion that lobbyists ‘won’t work in my White House.’ “White House hopeful Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) was forced to revise a critical stump line of his on Saturday — a flat declaration that lobbyists ‘won’t work in my White House’ after it turned out his own written plan says they could, with some restrictions… After being challenged on the accuracy of what he has been saying — in contrast to his written pledge — at a news conference Saturday in Waterloo, Obama immediately softened what had been his hard line in his next stump speech.” [Chicago Sun-Times, 12/16/07]”
“Sen. Obama said ‘I passed a law that put Illinois on a path to universal coverage,’ but Obama health care legislation merely set up a task force. “As a state senator, I brought Republicans and Democrats together to pass legislation insuring 20,000 more children. And 65,000 more adults received health care…And I passed a law that put Illinois on a path to universal coverage.” The State Journal-Register reported in 2004 that “The [Illinois State] Senate squeaked out a controversial bill along party lines Wednesday to create a task force to study health-care reform in Illinois.”
More? I personally do not want Barark Obama to turn out to be just another politician. Perhaps he is, and we are to just forgive and forget?
“
I thought NJ had gay marriage too.
“You mean farmgrrl is not leaving?”
Psssssssssssttttttt! RFL, your bigotry is showing – might want to tuck it back in.
THE UN – OBAMA WANTS TO SEND $68 BILLION MORE to this Corrupt and Incompetent Organization. See how wunnerful Big Government works!!!
UN Probe Says Procurement at Its $5 Billion Anti-Poverty Agency a Shambles
Wednesday, May 28, 2008
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,358953,00.html
The multibillion-dollar procurement business of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the U.N.’s flagship anti-poverty agency, is a gigantic shambles, according to UNDP’s own investigators.
Moreover, UNDP’s management has privately acknowledged that fact and is scrambling to fix the mess — even as it loudly denied concerns of a procurement scandal that have been raised by FOX News, among others.
In a confidential report obtained by FOX News, UNDP’s auditors have described the UNDP procurement organization that is spending well over $2 billion annually as:
— overwhelmed by its caseload at headquarters and in the field, while procurement ballooned from $800 million in 2003 to $2.5 billion in 2006 and $2.2 billion last year;
— often failing to provide plans to support its buying activities, which the report says causes many purchases of goods and services to be carried out on an “ad hoc basis” (in fact, more than $595 million worth of non-existent purchases were recorded, although the audit notes that they were not paid for);
— wallowing in shoddy paperwork and faulty bidding processes, which contributed to a “high number of waivers of the competitive process and to quality problems in the procurement process in general”;
— lacking the expertise to evaluate hundreds of millions of dollars worth of its most expensive and important purchases in civic construction and high-tech communications;
— drastically unqualified: Fully half of the organization’s procurement staff around the world were not certified for the basic requirements of their jobs, while the auditors also found the six-hour course for those who were certified to be “inadequate.” Additionally, the auditors noted, “there are entire offices without a single certified buyer”;
— suffering from an “apparent” conflict of interest at the top, where the people charged with vetting the procurement process for flaws are also members of the procurement office staff.
The same potentials for conflict of interest apparently dog local staffers, who, the report says, had not received official guidelines for disclosing their finances and interests, even though a policy demanding those declarations had been issued a year earlier.
Even more ominously, the same auditors point out that UNDP:
— has no sure way of knowing whether it is doing business with organizations that the U.N. itself has condemned for terrorist ties and says UNDP country offices find the current manual system of cross-checking with U.N. terrorist sanctions lists to be “cumbersome and inefficient”;
— has no formal policy for suspending or removing vendors for poor performance or corruption;
— and doesn’t ask new vendors for the identity of their owners or other corporate ties. This raises the possibility that vendors caught out for corruption or poor performance could simply switch names and reapply for approved status.
From Hank’s link:
“Britain’s Labour Party has discarded its “progressive” principles for environmental fear-mongering”
NO. Actually Tony Blair/Bush brought it down with the Iraq war. The close alignment of Labor with the Bush administration destroyed Labor’s position with the British people.
RFL you once again prove the idiocy of wingnuts in kansas. Why sell farm land here for a price that wouldnt buy a HOUSE much less a farm in California?
You are forgetting a word here. Lush CORPORATE farms in California.
Or are you so stupid you dont understand that?
Mostly, I just stay here to piss you off.
I see it’s working….
P-mom feigns sympathy for the attempted murder of a 6 week old baby while holding fast to the position that an unborn child can be murdered with impunity.
P-mom knows that there is no biological difference between a 6 week old baby and one that is unborn. Therefore a society which can justify abortions as a mere medical procedure can also justify the dumping of a baby in a dumpster.
Keeping abortion legal allows the cancerous belief the humans are only valuable if they are wanted by their mother. A mother did not want her 6 week old. She tossed the baby in a dumpster. A logical pro-choice decision.
The sentiment is mutual farmie.
Again, have a safe trip to California!
OMG, having Ellen get married on the bush ranch, in front of the bush cross, with john mcsame walking her down the aisle..
It just doesnt get any better than that.
Unless terry, joe and phred could be persuaded to be bridesmaids?

That would be almost as sacred as straight folks getting married while drunk, in Las Vegas, by an Elvis impersonator.
Sacred rite indeed!

RE: “P-mom feigns sympathy ”
Really, I read that as her seeing little difference between the two (but I can’t get into her mind, so I’m Prolly mistaken). Whereas you don’t seem to see the similarity of aborting at 6 weeks and working people to death or shipping them to a fraudulent war in order to pad your coffers.
I’d like to know how much Obama thinks his Global Poverty Act is going to cost US Taxpayers.
http://thomas.loc.gov/home/c110query.html (Look-up S 2433 Introduced by OBAMA)
The Global Poverty Acts calls mandates “the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal”.
http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/goals.html (UN Milleninium Goals)
Elimination of World Poverty. Hmmm…how much does that cost? Sounds like an expansion of the failed LBJ plan from the 1960’s. 50 years later, still the same poverty rate in the USA.
Obama wants to take an unsuccessful National Poverty Plan and expand it to The Whole Wide World! (THAT should help balance the US Budget!)
Here’s the UN Millennium Commitment – $$$$.
Obama’s Global Poverty Act will mandate the US Taxpayer to meet this commitment.
http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/docs/UNSD_MDG_Report_2007e.pdf
Success in achieving the MDGs in the poorest and most disadvantaged countries cannot be achieved by these countries alone. Developed countries need to deliver fully on longstanding commitments to achieve the official development assistance (ODA) target of 0.7 per cent of gross
national income (GNI) by 2015.
It requires, in particular, the Group of 8 industrialized nations to live up to their 2005
pledge to double aid to Africa by 2010 and European Union Member States to allocate 0.7 per cent of GNI to ODA by 2015.
In spite of these commitments, ODA declined between 2005 and 2006 and is expected to continue to fall slightly in 2007 as debt relief declines.
Unemployment rate in Wichita falls in April

The Wichita area unemployment rate was 3.5 percent, not seasonally adjusted, in April, according to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
That is better from 4.1 percent in March and the 3.8 percent rate in April of 2007.
The national unemployment rate was 4.8 percent in April, up from 4.3 percent from a year earlier.

farmgrrl, I am looking out for happiness and well being. How is that being caveman like? You describe being gay in a state that does not recognize gay marriages as a violation of your civil rights.
sooooo, what stay? seriously, your caricature of state approved marriage must not be grand equalizer which you describe it to be.
US National Income is $9.78 TRILLION.
http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/eco_gro_nat_inc-economy-gross-national-income
Obama’s Blobal Poverty Act (S 2433) would send 0.7% of our National Income to “Poor” Countries, EVERY YEAR!
(0.7% x $9.78 TRILLION = $68.46 BILLION)
So, Obama’s Plan is to steal $68.46 BILLION from US taxpayers every year to give to other countries.
And you Libs btich about the cost of Iraq & btich about the National Deficit & btich about the National Debt!
Great Plan Obama!

Oh, and there was another complainer too.

Ksfrmgrl don’t know you well but after reading several of your posts I am curious why you think it is a big deal that a church in CA is now going to be doing same sex marriages. I got the idea that you were an atheist.
Just curious – is it equality you are after or are you wanting to rub it in someones face?
Parkay- they found a dumpster baby in McPherson. I know you’ll be elated at that news, the once scarce phenomenon has been hitting Kansas
-P-Mom
Quick, somebody tell me how many mothers chose to to toss their baby in a dumpster in the United States prior to Roe!
Hmmm, now we are seeing babies dumped on a routine basis, P-Mom even notes this. However, how is P-Mom able to spin this as the fault of pro-lifers when the right to an abortion protected by the law?
What putrid cognitive faculties P-Mom must have if she can not see the obvious that a pro-choice climate is the current climate in which the decision to dump babies is made.
Farmgirl, married in a church!
Heeeeeeee! Heeeeeeeeee!
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
“Hmmm, now we are seeing babies dumped on a routine basis”
not everyone has a pig farm like they did in the old days
Obama’s $68 BILLION Global Poverty act will cost Every Man, Woman, and Child in the USA $227 per year, just to start with.
If you live in a home with 2 Parents and 2 Kids, YOUR SHARE is $908 per year, just to start with.
And some of you Libs complain about High Gas Prices……..
Max – how does that compare to the TRILLIONS your boy Bush is squandering in Iraq?
I spoke with Barack this morning, Max, and he told me that you were personally going to foot the bill for the global poverty initiative, since you are such a “compassionate conservative.”
He told me to thank you.
“Max – how does that compare to the TRILLIONS your boy Bush is squandering in Iraq?”
“Before the war, White House economic adviser Lawrence Lindsay estimated the cost at $100 to $200 billion. So the White House got rid of him and “re-estimated” the cost at $50 to $60 billion. It’s now over $500 billion.”
“U.S. direct spending on the war in Iraq already has surpassed the upper bound of Lindsey’s upper bound, and most economists attribute billions more in indirect costs to the war effort. Even if the U.S. exits Iraq within another three years, total direct and indirect costs to U.S. taxpayers will likely by more than $400 billion”
“Joseph Stiglitz, a Nobel Prize-winning economist and self-described opponent of the war, puts the final figure at a staggering $1 trillion to $2 trillion, including $500 billion for the war and occupation and up to $300 billion in future health care costs for wounded troops. Additional costs include a negative impact from the rising cost of oil and added interest on the national debt.”
Well, I guess it is possible
Good morning all of you happy bloggers.
Here’s my take:
The Democrats suck and are a bunch of liars (if you’re a Republican).
The Republicans suck and are a bunch of liars (if you’re a Democrat).
Am I fair and un-balanced, or what?
Ok, here’s something very interesting that I ran across this morning.
Them damned Jews are burning Bibles!
http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/meast/05/28/bible.burning/index.html
Where’s the outrage????
What right does the government have in preventing women from choosing to toss her baby in a trash dumpster? There are economic reasons prompting mothers to get rid of their helpless infants. Think about all the poverty we will eliminate by allowing mothers to discard their new born babies!
The decision to toss a baby in the trash is a choice.
Think about what is happening and what will continue to happen in America before you vote pro-choice.
My favorite disclosure from Scott McClellan’s book……………….
McClellan heard Bush on the phone in 2000 tell someone that he couldn’t remember if he had ever used cocaine.
He couldn’t freakin’ REMEMBER!?!?!
Say what?
Damn, I knew the man had a drinking problem, but he drank so much that he couldn’t remember if he had used cocaine?
Buth then, since I have from the beginning objected to the invasion of Iraq, I can object to the proposal of a tax on Americans as espoused by Barak Obama.
Poor people get abortions at the clinic with pro-lifers ranting at the doors.
Rich pro-lifers get a “D&C” *wink, wink* and their doctor drops an extra 50 grand in an off-shore account.
Same ol’, same ol’.

Obama’s forgettable Memorial Day: Conservative bloggers are fired up over Barack Obama’s Memorial Day speech, in which he said, “On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes—and I see many of them in the audience here today—our sense of patriotism is particularly strong” and talked about how his uncle helped liberate Auschwitz, a task actually accomplished by the Red Army. (Late Tuesday, Obama’s camp clarified that the candidate meant to say Buchenwald, not Auschwitz.)
Ed Morissey at Hot Air sighs: “Does Obama see dead people? Coming from Chicago, one might be tempted to joke that they would form a natural portion of his constituency, but obviously Obama confused this with Veterans Day, which honors our living veterans of war. Unfortunately, most of the nation makes the same mistake, and small wonder when its leadership can’t distinguish between the two.” Conservative Jimmie at the Sundries Shack says: “I’m going to call his verbal boners ‘Duh-bamas’ in honor of the man who graces us with them so very, very often.”

In other posts I’ve noted how the ubercapitalists were compensated for damage done to their war making factories in Germany due to Allied bombing. Historian Max Hastings’ new book REFERENDUM details the last part of the Pacific Campaign and reports on page 353 that American nurses were told to get rid of any money during the Battle of Battan for good reasons but eventually wished they had not done so. In Santo Thomas POW camp, prisoner/slaves were allowed to barter food from locals to augment the starvation diets, but with no assets the nurses signed IOU’s to fellow captives, representatives of large American firms like General Electric (the company is actually mentioned) whose credit worthiness was known to the local vendors. Upon liberation by Amerian troops, surviving nurses were presented with demands by the representative of these companies to repay the IOU’s, some over $1000.00. Japanese physical maltreatment had to be endured with this fiscal violation. The name of one of the nurses is metioned in the book but fear I would disespect her memory by publishing it here. Like, does anyone else get angry that this type of thing stil goes on?
OOPS! I got the title wrong on my post, the name of the book is RETRIBUTION. I’m reading another history with the title wrongly attributed in the above post.
Nathan,
No… I know why you do not believe the climate scientists.
You prefer to believe the non-scientific nonsense from people like Dennis Avery, who is an agricultural economist.
You prefer to believe lies and ignorance, instead of science.
Why don’t you two (Nathan and cosmo) admit it.
You both are people of faith. Both of you believe in what you believe through faith alone. Period.
The End.
Airbus is every bit as corrupt as boeing mgmt. ever was.
fleettwood,
Nathan relies on the “faith” of hoping that the lies he stupidly believes, like from Dennis Avery, will not be exposed.

What If a Republican Called, Like Obama, for God’s ‘Kingdom on Earth’?

“This is Anne Jones, reporting live from the headquarters of the ACLU, where the organization has issued a ‘DEFCON 1 Threat-to-the-Constitution Alert’ in the wake of a Republican presidential candidate’s call for the creation of God’s ‘kingdom on earth.’ We’re speaking with ACLU representative Amanda Rogers. Ms. Rogers, now that a Republican candidate has brought the wall that separates church and state crashing to the ground, can our constitutional system be saved?”
“Anne, I’m afraid the answer is a resounding ‘no,’ at least, not if someone who thinks like this, and who sadly reflects the thinking of his entire party, is elected president. Fortunately, there are candidates from another party who respect the constitutionally decreed separaration of church and state.”

At its annual meeting in Kentucky this weekend, the National Rifle Association focused most of its energy on gearing up its members to defeat the Democratic nominee in November, whether it is Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton.
NRA leaders warned that both risk eroding gun ownership rights. But their influence is hampered by a tough national climate for Republicans, after eight years of President George W. Bush, and a mixed record on past campaigns.
“Your presence here today will send a very strong message to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton: we’re watching,” said Chris Cox, executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action, at the group’s leadership forum Friday.
He added that he expects the 6,500 people who attended the forum and the other 4.3 million NRA members to have a “very strong presence at the voting booth” in November.

There is quite a lot of biological differences between a 6 week old baby and unborn, depending on the age of the fetus.
What I was referring to is that you have cut off every place for help that these women can turn to without some sort of negative consequence. They can’t just sign their babies over to be adopted, the father must be involved. They can’t get a late term abortion if they found out too late, they can’t go to the doctor if they’re on drugs for fear of being locked up, they can’t get on welfare or get help with a drop off place when they’ve been up for 24 hours with a crying baby and they’re at their wits end without them being tried for abandonment. They don’t get decent sex education to teach them where to go or what to do to keep from getting pregnant in the first place.
And if they were raped and DON”T want to have to talk to the police, they’re just SOL. I guess they can deal with it, because anyone they tell is going to report it.
Anyone who doesn’t agree with gay person is a biggot.
Anyone who doesn’t agree with Obama is a racist.
Anyone who doesn’t agree with Clinton is a misogynist.
The number of abortions in Scotland has risen for the third straight year, up by 4% to an all-time high of 13,081 abortions in 2006, despite the touted easy access for women and schoolgirls to the dangerous Plan B morning-after abortifacient, which is proven to increase the spread of venereal diseases rather than to decrease surgical abortions. The number of repeat abortions is increasing in Scotland, as well, as is the number of abortions committed upon underage girls. Furthermore, Plan B is only 72% or less effective, rather that the 89% claimed by Barr Laboratories.

Germans are reeling over a recent string of cases involving mothers accused or convicted of killing their babies. The grisly killings have come at a time when the country’s low birthrate has left the government searching for ways to encourage people to have more children. Many of the mothers have been struggling single women who hid their pregnancy from friends and family, gave birth alone and killed the newborn out of fear or desperation.
Lately, a 20-year-old woman confessed to putting her newborn infant in the freezer about three or four weeks ago, claiming it was dead. An autopsy showed the child was alive when placed in the freezer and the woman was arrested.
In April, a woman received the maximum sentence of 15 years for killing eight newborns between 1992 and 1998 and burying them in flower pots on her parents’ property.
Earlier this month, a teenager scrounging for a frozen pizza at his home in western Germany found the bodies of three infants–his siblings–in the family’s deep freezer. The mother was arrested. Also this month, a 22-year-old-woman was convicted of killing her three newborns by stuffing them into plastic bags. The bodies were discovered in 2007 in cartons in her parents’ garage.
82 young German children were killed by a parent in 2006. Mothers in the USofA kill more children each year than German mothers, in spite of safe abandonment laws enacted in every state, providing for the legal abandonment of unharmed newborns in hospitals, clinics, fire stations, and police stations.

Not one mention of co2 causing Global Warming
Half U.S. Climate Warming Due to Land Use Changes
Meteorologists Dr. Eugenia Kalnay and Dr. Ming Cai have found evidence that the observed temperature increase of 0.13 degrees Celsius (.234 degrees Fahrenheit) over the past 50 years has been influenced by changes in land use.
The well known “urban heat island” effect actually takes place at nighttime, the two scientists write, “when buildings and streets release the solar heating absorbed during the day.”
The effect of agricultural development, increasing evaporation during the day, also would tend to decrease the maximum temperature, but “irrigation would increase the heat capacity of the soil, thus increasing the minimum temperature,” they state.

Not exactly FarmGirl. The telephone survey of just
1,052 registered voters by the Field Poll. Who knows how those few are representative of the 15.5 million registered CA voters.
The Field Poll’s finding conflicts with a Los Angeles Times/KTLA poll of 705 voters released last week that found 54 percent backed the proposed gay marriage ban and 35 percent opposed it.
Additionally, the Field Poll is a media-sponsored public opinion news service.

So where are your priorities?
Sure seems like you embrace the political rhetoric and ignore the real-world effects of rational policy.
You people pull out inflammatory memes such as “the abortion industry and shout “Baby Killer!!” and shoot doctors and bomb clinics while those of us who are pro-choice (and pro-reality) are forced to fight you to keep abortion legal, safe, and rare.
The “Shouting ‘Baby Killer!’ Industry” has lost track of its stated goal. They’re taking your money, “parkay,” and getting fat on it while they ignore their purported cause.

Abrupt changes in the Arctic never happened before eh cosmos?
A Pervasive Millennial-Scale Cycle in North Atlantic Holocene and Glacial Climates
Gerard Bond, * William Showers, Maziet Cheseby, Rusty Lotti, Peter Almasi, Peter deMenocal, Paul Priore, Heidi Cullen, Irka Hajdas, Georges Bonani
Evidence from North Atlantic deep sea cores reveals that abrupt shifts punctuated what is conventionally thought to have been a relatively stable Holocene climate. During each of these episodes, cool, ice-bearing waters from north of Iceland were advected as far south as the latitude of Britain. At about the same times, the atmospheric circulation above Greenland changed abruptly. Pacings of the Holocene events and of abrupt climate shifts during the last glaciation are statistically the same; together, they make up a series of climate shifts with a cyclicity close to 1470 ± 500 years. The Holocene events, therefore, appear to be the most recent manifestation of a pervasive millennial-scale climate cycle operating independently of the glacial-interglacial climate state. Amplification of the cycle during the last glaciation may have been linked to the North Atlantic’s thermohaline circulation.
In any case, if we are correct that the 1470-year climate cycle is a pervasive component of Earth’s climate system, it must be present in previous glacial-interglacial intervals. If that turns out to be true, the cycle may well be the pacemaker of rapid climate change.

KFG,
Once again, merely opposing homosexual marriage doesn’t make me a bigot.
========================================
So, what DO you call it??
It’s amazing the social progress over time.
I know it IS a lot longer to you kfg, because you have lived with the descrimination.
But so much has changed, just since I was a kid.
The big insult to hang on other kids when I was growing up was to call them gay. Gay was also used as a general derogatory adjective. Something wasn’t lame or stupid. It was “gay”.
In my own kid, I see some of that still in the young culture. But the very first time I ever heard him use “gay” as a perjorative, I nipped that right in the bud. In our household, that is NOT acceptable.
I think you will live to see gay marriage kfg. I know to you it seems like forever. But as I say, I myself am surprised by societies progress just the last 30 years.

It has interpreted through his faith denomination that homosexual marriage is not allowed.
That is not being a bigot.
“Nathaniel” pleads –
“…merely opposing homosexual marriage doesn’t make me a bigot.”
Maybe not. But it’s a start.
And you never quit with your bigotry.
I don’t like attacking you, “Nathaniel.” It feels too much like booing at the Special Olympics.
I sense you’re severely disturbed, maybe due to PTSD, maybe not.
I’ve asked that you seek psychological help for the symptoms you display nearly every day in this forum. I’ve criticized the Veterans Administration and the Pentagon for giving short shrift to veterans such as you.
I, on the other hand will accept whatever the state dictates that ‘gay marriage’ will be legal.
However, I qualify that and have always qualified it as the teaching of my faith denomination interpretation of the bible does not allow the marriage of gays.
I am a citizen of the United States and if I was a citizen of California, I would abide by their laws.
My spiritual convictions do not make me a bigot. My understanding of the law make me a pragmatist and in understanding that I cannot use my beliefs from my personal convictions to force them upon others.
With all of that said, I pray for brave stances on both sides of those with convictions as it is not an easy issue to comprehend nor be flippant about.
If you thought there was a selling job done on the war… tune in to Barfield right now on KCTU:
–The city of Sunrise FL had line items for an assistant city manager, deputy police chief and deputy fire chief… but nobody ever filled the positions;
–City Council members were not allowed to send e-mails or use cell phones;
–City Council members were never told the location of Sunrise’s new arena until they had to vote on a zoning issue to rezone residential property to build it.

I do not hold science in a “blind faith”. But I do consider lying about AGW science, which the deniers do, very wrong and irresponsible.
You can oppose gay marriage in your faith for you and your family and even in your church.

Political Mama,
What is society? What is law and who makes that law?
If marriage is and has been defined as one man and one woman for who knows how long, how is that my imposition on homosexuals?
They are choosing a lifestyle and I ahve no problem with that.
I have no problem with them even getting access to things which have been attached to marriage.
Now, not even that is enough. They want official government recognition of being married.
Sorry, there is no reason they should be given that for a lifestyle choice which many disagree with.
They can live and be as gay as they want to be. When you start wanting to make others recognize that, they are the ones imposing themselves on the rest of us.
I am not a bigot. Constantly calling me that is no better than when KFG and others said I hated gay people.
Neither are true. Both are simply attacking me instead of engaging in discussion.

A bigot is a person who is intolerant of opinions, lifestyles, or identities differing from his or her own, and bigotry is the corresponding ideology.
The origin of the word bigot and bigoterie in English dates back to at least 1598, via Middle French, and started with the sense of “religious hypocrite”, especially a woman. Bigot is often used as a pejorative term against a person who is obstinately devoted to prejudices even when these views are challenged or proven to be false or not universally applicable or acceptable.
Forms of bigotry may have a related ideology or world views.
MrC — I dont seem to have it LoL
…or perhaps you would prefer this definition?
Main Entry:
big·ot Listen to the pronunciation of bigot
Pronunciation:
\?bi-g?t\
Function:
noun
Etymology:
French, hypocrite, bigot
Date:
1660
: a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance
— big·ot·ed Listen to the pronunciation of bigoted \-g?-t?d\ adjective
Whatever. By ANY definition, nathan, I think you fit the bill.
A rose by any other name and all.
Why do you care if anyone calls you a bigot? It’s what you are. Changing the NAME isnt going to make you NOT a bigot.
Am I a bigot kfg? :)
By the first definition -
“A bigot is a person who is intolerant of opinions, lifestyles, or identities differing from his or her own, and bigotry is the corresponding ideology.”
Intolerance of an opinion pretty much makes us all bigots then. :)
Well Reg, despite some things you’ve posted in the past, no, by your posts on this thread, I dont think you are a bigot.
I dont care how you feel or follow your faith. Just leave the laws free of religious intolerance. And I think that is what you are saying here.
Nathan,
Are you really that clueless about scientific methodology?
You can’t simply just “disagree” with a theory.
You have do research, get data, form a hypothesis, submit a paper to a credible journal, get published, and then have other scientists try to verify or refute it.
Your AGW deniers cannot do that. They instead write op-eds, and books like Avery’s that lie about what climate scientists believe.
Your AGW deniers are like people claiming to expert marksmen, but refusing to prove it at the gun range. All they have is empty talk — no action.
“Nathaniel” pontificates –
“If marriage is and has been defined as one man and one woman for who knows how long….”
That’s significant, “Nathaniel.” Since most states’ laws didn’t mention gender in marriage laws, at least in imposing genders on participants. (There are various ages of consent — i.e., 16 for females, 18 for males — but until twice-born homophobes got up on their hind legs and wrote genders into marriage laws.)
Ah, but there are plenty of tax breaks (and penalties — assuming the Cons weren’t lying when they were bitching about the so-called “Marriage Penalty” in the tax code a few years back. Okay, bad assumption. But I digress.) which are awarded to married couples.
The courts, which might — just might — be better at interpreting laws than you are, “Nathaniel,” simply noted that all those laws affecting two consenting adults who enter into a marriage contract don’t address gender. And never have.
But you can’t restrain yourself, “Nathaniel.” You go on with –
“…there is no reason they should be given that for a lifestyle choice which many disagree with.”
Hey. I might “disagree” with a skinny guy marrying a fat chick. So let’s outlaw that, “Nathaniel.”
“I am not a bigot.”
Yeah, right.
Please, “Nathaniel.” Four out of ten Iraq War veterans are afflicted by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Because I respect your military service and I see how you present yourself in this forum, I worry that you need treatment.
Go ahead and prove me wrong. Please see a mental health professional and prove me wrong if that’s how it turns out.
KFG,
Once again, simply quoting the meaning of the word is not an explanation of how that makes me one.
It doesn’t really bother me that you call me a bigot. It simply isn’t true.
In the discussion I am not going to concede that by not replying to it.
Before you called me a bigot all you could do was say I hated gays.
It is simply nothing more than the classic ad hominem.
If anything, I think you cheapen the word by calling me one. There are really people out there that are bigots and do really hate gay people.
When you cheapen the word by calling everyone who disagrees with your lifestyle choice a bigot, it no longer has the same effect when you are trying to call the real bigots a bigot.
Nathan — Since you’re not gay, how is it that a gay couple being married infringes on you?? Its not like they are competing with you for anything…
Carer to explain that??
KFG would your own definition make you a bigot because of your hatred of Christians?
“: a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance
— big·ot·ed Listen to the pronunciation of bigoted \-g?-t?d\ adjective”
Pope I don’t usually but into private conversations but you don’t seem to have a problem with that so I will. No where did I see Nathaniel say he felt threatened by gay marriage. Care to show that to me.
The problem several of you seem to have is that intolerance doesn’t equal disagreement.
If I was intolerant of your lifestyle or opinion I wouldn’t let you have either.
My disagreement with either of them is not intolerance.
Careful Chas, you might be a bigot because you are obstinately or intolerantly devoted to your own opinions and prejudices; especially one who regards or treats the members of a group (religious denominational faith) with hatred and intolerance.
Ummm observer — in your “brief” time on this Blog, I dont recal KFG saying anything about hating Christians… indifference, maybe… non-interest, sure… hatred?? No!!
Chas,
It doesn’t. What is your point?
observer — I didnt say it either!! care to check into new glasses??
Nathan, if it doesnt infringe on you, and you’re not competing with gay couples for anything, then what is your disagreement??
“Even then I have some compelling evidence to support God’s existence.”
In all honesty – without flaming – I would like to hear an explanation of that statement, Mr. Price.
Chas,
I believe that marriage is and should be between a man and a woman.
Simply because someone chooses to be different doesn’t mean they deserve special privledge and recognition for that.
What special privilege?? Thats an old talking point… Gay couples arent seeking special privilege… just equal rights!!
WS Clark,
Written and documented history and tradition for starters.
I believe people should take better care of the environment, and not drive gas guzzling vehicles… Doesnt give me a right to support laws against those who drive them…
Chas,
They have equal rights. And as I said before, marriage has become so linked to other things that I have no problem with those other things being afforded to other couples as well.
Nathan, you choose to be different from the gay community…
Why do you deserve the special privilege of having the right to get married to your person of choice??
Chas,
Sure it does. Congress and the liberals have been doing it for the last 50 years.
Ever heard of CAFE standards? There are all sorts of laws in place to protect the environment at the cost of others individual liberties.
Chas,
I don’t believe that marriage is a right.
Who determines your ability to get married, Nathan?? Do you have to seek permission from the State?? or from an attorney?? Who is it that determines your ability to APPLY for a marriage license??
Chas,
I will assume you know the answers to those questions.
Once again, what is your point?
“Nathaniel” claims –
“If I was [sic] intolerant of your lifestyle or opinion I wouldn’t let you have either.”
You wouldn’t let them have either?!
And who or what gives you the right, “Nathaniel,” to “let” others have a “lifestyle or opinion?!”
What would you do if you lived up to your personal opinion of being tolerant?
Do you really think the measure of your “tolerance” is that you’ve chosen to “let” others have a different opinion or lifestyle?
We who read WE Blog know full well that you don’t like to step outside your home without a handgun strapped to your side. We’ve heard how you’d react to a civil tort (i.e., someone killing your dog) with a bona fide felony (i.e., murdering them).
Given your record on this forum, we know that you, “Nathaniel,” think you are the judge of who is “Christian,” who lives an “acceptable” lifestyle, and who you think is subject to your judgment of what you should “let” happen.
This isn’t an attack. It’s a plea.
Please seek psychological help, “Nathaniel.”
People who continue to oppose gay marriage are not just bigots. They are vindictive bigots.
Even if they do not honestly hate the gay lifestyle, their continued advocacy for descrimination against gay people enables and empowers people who do.
Keeping score. There is no reason to oppose gay marriage. It doesn’t hurt anyone. It is offensive to some because of their own “ick” factor or their belief that it is wrong in God’s eyes. Well an “ick” factor is a lousy reason for prejudice. And any God I would believe in wouldn’t need personal enforcers of his word. If it were that important to him he’d take care of it himself.
Secondly, we can see that gay marriage IS going to be reality. It has already been legal in more than one instance. California may very likely make it legal. So, those who continue to opopose gay marriage are engaged in a lost cause. While they dig their heels in and fight what they cannot stop, people are hurting because of their stubborness. And that is nothing if not vindictive.
Nathan, I wish I could get you on video tape stating that marriage is not right… Cause after all of the outrage, you would need to find some place to hide!!
Nathan
“….. I wouldn’t let them have it”
How arrogant
Again you show a propensity for threatening and violent behavior —— Man up dick head
Nathan, NOBODY determines your ability to get married… NOBODY can tell you you cant get married to a consenting adult of your choice, so long as it is a female… NOBODY has the right to deny you a marriage certificate, so long as you are legal to get married… Laws about marriage are not laws allowing marriage… Therefore, Marriage IS a right… Only in your mind is marriage a privilege…
And once again, if a gay couple is not infringing on you, as you stated, and if they are not competing with you for anything, as you stated…
Then on what BASIS do you object to gay couples having the same right to get married as you have??
“Written and documented history and tradition for starters.”
Documentation written by man and the tradition of mankind.
I was hoping that you had “compelling evidence” of the existence of God.
No flaming – just asking.
Clark, there is also written, and documented history and tradition for the existence of Multiple Gods as well… No “compelling evidence for those either!! Just saying…
“I don’t believe that marriage is a right.”
Once again, I will ask, can a heterosexual couple, unrelated and consenting, be denied the right to marriage?
If the answer is no – then marriage is a right.
Please provide the rationale that it is not a right.
According to this definition(Wikipedia) and the definiton of license from Black’s law, a marriage is a privilege and not a right.
Black’s Law Dictionary defines “license” as, “The permission by competent authority to do an act which without such permission [...] would be illegal.” The authority to license implies the power to prohibit . A license by definition “confers a privilege” to do something. By allowing the state to exercise control over marriage, it is implied that we do not have a right to marry; marriage is a privilege. Those born in the US receive a birth certificate, not a birth license. Most would object to a birth license as it would imply that people must gain permission to be born. Following that same logic, many refuse to accept a marriage license and exercise their right to marry without obtaining permission from the state.[1]
Some groups believe that needing to obtain a marriage license from the State in order to be married is unnecessary or immoral. The Libertarian Party, for instance, believes that all marriages should be civil, not requiring sanction from the State.[2] Some Christian groups also feel that, since marriage is believed to be a contract between two people and God, no authorization from the State is required.[3]
LR2,
Obviously you have no ability to comprehend what you read.
My comment was an explanation of what intolerance is, not what I would actually do.
Idiot.
So who “grants” the privilege, McCluer? Given unrelated, consenting adults of the opposite sex, what would be the criteria for denying the “privilege” to marry?
Given that it cannot be denied, it is a RIGHT.
The various States grant permission. As the definition states, “A license by definition “confers a privilege” to do something”;
Therefore, the State, being the authority to issue licenses is granting the privilege of marriage via license application.
There is no “right” inferred, nor is it in the definition of a license.
I mentioned that march of society earlier.
I’d like to go back to that.
You know, people who oppose that march? Maybe they aren’t very smart.
The trend in society is toward tolerance and away from intolerance.
Sometimes though, once a tide starts moving?
It just keeps on going. Maybe even eventually at odds with itself. As to tolerance I mean?
People notice when they see deliberate meanness.
So, as the wave toward tolerance moves on. And goal after goal is washed over?
Maybe a bit up the beach, some idea of getting a little back for past grievances comes into play.
Then the folks who have fought change at every step might find themselves on defense not for what they are against. But maybe having to defend what is their deepest core beliefs.
I hope it would stop short of that.
But I wouldn’t count on it.
Clark, I think it might be interesting to approach local news media, KAKE, KSN, KWCH, and tell them that SOME folks in the Wichita area do not believe marriage is a Right… but rather a privilege… See where they run with it…
Regular — IF marriage is a Civil Union, then it IS state sanctioned…. If it is statutory, it is Civil…
I believe what everyone is looking for is a definition under rights to marry.
Answer.com provides one solution under Civil Rights.
(which btw is what happened in California with the decision)
Civil Rights
Rights protected by the U.S. Constitution. These rights can be enforced by court action. Among them are the right to own property, to utilize the courts, to marry, to contract, and to obtain other benefits set out by law, including all rights set out in federal statutes.
So, in essence, it’s not a matter of licensing rights, it turns out to be a matter of Civil Rights as defined by the Constitution.
Further explanation:
The rights belonging to an individual by virtue of citizenship, especially the fundamental freedoms and privileges guaranteed by the 13th and 14th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution and by subsequent acts of Congress, including civil liberties, due process, equal protection of the laws, and freedom from discrimination.
Which btw, was part of my decision acknowledging the legal affirmation by the California Courts.
Spiritually, I struggle with one eye blinded with the decision, but “render unto Caesar…blah blah” trumphs my spiritual convictions.
“Given unrelated, consenting adults of the opposite sex, what would be the criteria for denying the “privilege” to marry?”
When can the “privilege” be denied?
If it cannot be denied, it is a right.
Actually, Regular, AFTER I perform a marriage ceremony, the State issues a Certificate of Marriage… License before… Certificate afterwards…
Monkeyhawk,
Nathan Price is also the judge of what is credible science.
When an agricultural economist lies about what climate scientists believe, Nathan says that we should respect the lying economist.
Nathan believes that the lying economist is a honest, credible scientist.
And Nathan will say that you are a “believer in the holy religion of AGW, not science” if you disagree.
As I have stated often, Marriage IS a Right!!
As one who performs marriages, I certainly already knew that before… But thanks for the Civil Rights posting, Regular…
Actually,
If the majority of society one day decided that government endorsement of marriage was wrong, then it could be taken away.
Marriage is nothing more than a series of laws, all of which can be changed.
There could still be marriage in the church, just not recognized by the government.
Cosmos,
Is all that you can do is mischaracterize what people say to make your arguments?
Nathan, I cannot perform a marriage (legally) without signing the marriage license… Marriage is a STATE matter… The Church only serves to approve it for the church
The Church only approves the marriage licensed and recorded by the state… approves for benefit of the the CHURCH not the state!!
Regular, your spiritual convictions are not trumped… Your Church cannot be forced to accept Gay Marriage… and that is as it should be… Your Church is not required to agree with the State or Court decision on Gay Marriage — No more than the State can demand that anybody belong to a particular church (or any church)…
Oddly enough, obtaining a license from a state still remains a privilege. Finding the opportunity of a right under the Constitutional definition of Civil Rights, is not serendipity, but fundamental argument by Locke that that the natural rights of life, liberty and property should be interpreted as civil rights and protected by the sovereign state as an aspect of the social contract.
This social contract was further defined by our founding fathers to be part of the natural right.
Ironically and to the chagrin of progressive Liberals, Marx, Nietze and Freud thought the social contract violated principles because it places the individual rights over the structural order of the state.
Jeez, I guess none of the gay-haters can answer the question – how can the privilege of marriage be denied to a couple that is heterosexual, consenting, unrelated and of age?
Can’t answer, can you?
Because if the “privilege” cannot be denied, then it is a right, despite all the semantics and smoke screens.

“OMG, too funny! Amway bitches about a poll of 1000+ voters and wonders how representative it is…”
Umh, FarmGirl, the poll came from YOUR link.
In the same news article you used to lead posters
to believe:
“Majority of voters in California do NOT favor a constitutional hate amendment.”
By my taking the time to read YOUR link, I saw how really stupid your post was, and the heading which reflects how the MEDIA tells us, by their heading – WHAT people think.
By your own measure, the title of the article COULD have read:
“Majority of voters in California DO favor a constitutional hate amendment.”
Because another meaningless rinky-dinky poll shows voters are opposed.
I cited the 750+ to show how silly your 1000+ post is.
Again, I wish you well in gaining some kind of “officially” recognized Unity arrangement, which will provide you and yours the financial security you seek. But as I’ve said before, you are part of a very tiny minority, and not worth the political risk for candidates fighting 50-50 split races.
But my reading your post, taking the time to read your link, and providing you feedback really does not lead to being a bigot.
You gays are too, well sensitive, me thinks.
“You gays are too, well sensitive, me thinks.”
Being subjected to bigotry and discrimination will do that to you, me thinks.
You know I keep saying it and nobody listens. I bet that if we started going after Nathan and other anti-gay marriage people’s driver’s license, they’d feel their rights were being violated too.
Driving is a true privilige not a right. and I’m sure we can find many traffic infractions if we only watched them closely enough and petitioned the state to have their licenses removed.
Californians voted 4.6 million to 2.9 million to adopt a state law defining marriage and involving one man and one woman.
Since the legalization of same-sex “marriage” in Massachusetts, 27 states adopted a constitutional amendment preserving traditional marriage on a ballot. All ballot measures except one have passed by considerable majorities.
States that protect traditional marriage:
In both Constitution and Statute 24
In Statute Only 17
In Constitution Only 3
Total 44 states
The above illustrates that the will of the people, the voters in the vast majority of states – have voted in favor or protecting marriage as between a man and a woman.
What the CA Court decision reflects: Is how critically important it is for liberals to get their people places in the judges chambers.
How else do you override the majority vote in a democracy?
(Other than superdelegates, that is)
Pope you perform marriages! Well shiver me timbers you really are a pope. Sorry I was making fun of you. Is Benedict your last name. And you sure had me fooled. I had you filed with the atheist on this board. Wow.
“subjected to bigotry and discrimination”
How is that possible? Do Gays wear some sort of special clothing to distinguish their sexual preference? You know, like a Jewish Star?
I wouldn’t know a gay person, a heterosexual, or any other person’s sexual orientation by looking at them.
So how are they subjected to bigotry and discrimination?
My experience at work and play: Who cares?
I really don’t care who another person sleeps with. It’s not a discussion item.
Is there a secret handshake? A wink?
AmWay — just because people vote for a law, doesnt mean that what they vote for is Constitutiional… That is why we have Courts!! CA has said the law in CA ws unconstitutional… So, do you want to throw out the Law of the Land in favor of mass bigotry??
When Farmgirl walks into the Tractor Supply, or the feed mill, or the Do Drop Inn: How does anyone discriminate?
How do I tell a gay girl from a hetro girl?
From there, how does bigotry come in?
Further Clark, how does being subjected to bigotry make a person justified in calling everyone a bigot?
Scratching my head.
Arrgh I see pirate lingo.
Who else posts here that does that? Let me think.
If thats true AmWay then why do you care if they get married?? Your statements of “I dont care” dont hold up to scrutiny, or you would side with the CA Court!!
Chas, you are jumping on the bandwagon.
The majority of people throughout the United States have voted to define marriage as between a man and a woman.
Do you really believe these people are all bigots?
I hardly think so.
The courts aren’t throwing out a law because it was approved by bigots.
Suppose the majority of people voted against Catholics?? You cant tell them from other people… They dont have a secret hand shake… It isnt in their “eyes”
Suppose that democratic society voted to outlaw Roman Catholics??
And the court said NO….
Would you still make the same argument you make now?? If not, bigotry, your name is AmWay!!
Actually, AmWay, Yes I do!! Gay marriage threatens NOBODY!! It competes with NOBODY!! It has nothing to do with traditional marriage…. It doesnt effect it in any way but in the minds of Bigots!!
The Court is throwing out a law, passed by bigots, that is just flat out Unconstitutional!!
Get it??
On that note, I am heading for bed… poacking here for another move… Gotta get some sleep…
Good night; Good luck; God bless –
Whatever you conceive God to be!!
Blessings ALL!!
Blessings on Gay Marriage!!
“dont hold up to scrutiny”
I never said I didn’t care if they got “married”. I support them having civil unions or whatever else they want to call it. The relationship could carry the same whatever benefits a married couple has.
Let the people who believe in the unique relationship of marriage, have their cup of tea, and let the gays have theirs, but with a slightly different flavor.
Personally, I think the government should never have gotten into the OFFICAL MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE act to begin with. It has it’s roots in religion and probably social behavior of yesterdays society.
Take away the IRS breaks. Take away the Social Security breaks, take away the medicare/medicaid breaks, the healthcare breaks, and any other special treatments altogether.
Now that would be the fairest way to handle it.
for all you typo freaks…
poacking = packing
I thought it might just be another Chas’ism, like
STFU. Stir Fried For U. Gnite.
“Personally, I think the government should never have gotten into the OFFICAL MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE act to begin with. It has it’s roots in religion and probably social behavior of yesterdays society.”
[AmWay]
That is just SO WRONG… Marriage has always been in the hands of the State… NOT in religious roots… NEVER was!! In fact, in the society of yesterday, people would get married by the magistrate… later, the marriage was blessed by a priest/minister/rabbi… in Western society…
In primitive tribal society, there wasnt a difference…
Who would have thunk it? Chas calling 4.6 million Hollyfornians bigots.
I bet the Hollyfornian voters were getting back to their strict constructionists idealism aka Marx and Nietze which state that the individual freedoms are overridden by the will of the State.
Bigots, I think not. Constructionists, yes probably so.
Most community colleges offer an entry level course in Marriage and Family… perhaps you should look into taking one of those, AmWay…
Seriously!!
Reg — In CA, the Court says the State CANNOT override the rights of individuals… Just the reverse of your wrong statement of the “communist manifesto” Well, your statement isnt wrong about the manifesto… but you are attempting to apply it to a situation that does not apply to it!!
Geez!!

So Nathan… do you have a link to where you admitted that Dennis Avery was not a credible climate scientist?
Or did you lie when you said that I “mischaracterize[d]” you?
Remember, it’s not “Christian” to lie.
Perhaps Chas, but constructionist meaning that there are those who interpret the Constitution strictly as if each word has a specific meaning. I’ll have to look at the old California law regarding marriage to see if the 4.6 million voters were true to the constructionist view of the law on the books or it was something else.
As far as Marx, Nietz, et al, the gay marriage amendment would never pass if the State consisted of like minds. :)
Sorry, but the will of the state is the reality of pure socialism that rears its ugly head when supporters of said socialism least expect it.
Actually, gay rights are not on my list of must do for our country. We have plenty of big problems to resolve, and the tiny number of gays is not going to be on the national agenda – despite the blog power of a few gays.
I took issue with FarmGirl making it SOUND like all of California was turning in favor of Gays, when in fact her article concerned 1026 telephone polled voters. She laughs at another poll in the same article which was negative toward the gay agenda by 750 polled voters.
It’s called hype. And if you can get people excited and make them THINK that everyone ELSE is up in arms,
you have succeeded and are deserving of the Joseph Goebbels Propaganda Award.
“thunk it? Chas calling 4.6 million Hollyfornians bigots” Regular
Ouch!
Well Pope I get it now. Everyone else says in my opinion. You say it’s right because I say so. Those poor californians. They just needed you to straighten them out.
I personally don’t care who marries who. You can marry your boyfriend I really don’t care. Legally we need to define marriage before a whole new set of problems surface. In my opinion.
Whoever observer is, he/she is quite confused… The Court in CA says Gay couples can marry — very simple… The Court says the CA law against gay marriage was unconstitutional… violation of civil rights… constructionist or otherwise… Very simple… The citizens of CA who passed the ANTI GAY MARRIAGE law were voting for something Unconstitutional… MANY of us said the same thing before the Court ruling… Some day, the KS supreme court will say the same as the CA Court.. What a glorious day that will be for ALL Kansas, when ALL Kansans are FREE!!
Okay, here is the old California marriage law. It is as I suspected that the 4.6 million people voted for holding a strict constructionist view of what California law stated:
“From Findlaw:
FAMILY.CODE SECTION 300-310
300. Marriage is a personal relation arising out of a civil contract between a man and a woman, to which the consent of the parties capable of making that contract is necessary. Consent alone
does not constitute marriage. Consent must be followed by the issuance of a license and solemnization as authorized by this
division, except as provided by Section 425 and Part 4 (commencing
with Section 500).
300. (a) Marriage is a personal relation arising out of a civil contract between a man and a woman, to which the consent of the
parties capable of making that contract is necessary. Consent alone does not constitute marriage. Consent must be followed by the
issuance of a license and solemnization as authorized by this division, except as provided by Section 425 and Part 4 (commencing
with Section 500).
(b) For purposes of this part, the document issued by the county clerk is a marriage license until it is registered with the county
recorder, at which time the license becomes a marriage certificate.
…
308.5
Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.
Perhaps the fictitious character, Pope, has a boyfriend… I wouldnt know… Personally, I have a wife, two daughters, and 5 grand kids… LOL
Pope wrong once again. When will the fringe get tired of making fools of themselves by spouting over things they know nothing about. You sure are an uninformed pope.
Thanks Reg for the clarification.
Then the CA Court said the 308.5 violates the civil rights of gay coupoles. Hooray!! They made it right!!
Pope I am proud of you. Now if we can just educate you.
Well, now I HAVE to get to bed… Many boxes need packed tomorrow morning…. Nite all!
Regular,
Libs don’t care what the people vote for. What matters is having a handful of well placed judges to overrule the people.
It matters not that in 24 states, the voters in mostly large majorities – voted to define marriage as between a man and a woman.
Like Chas says – all them thar people are bigots!
One judge to rule them all.
Well they certainly overran the vote of the people. We will see if the people sit still for this. Time will tell. It isn’t finished I fear.
Them Texas boys are preparing the ‘rail, tar and feathers’ for Chas as we speak, so he has to pack. (joking…(chortles)
The voters weren’t saying they wanted to take the rights of gays to marry. They were saying that marriage had to be defined before anymore challenges were made and it became wide open to interpretation.
Yep yep yep the Right Wing stands proud for over throwing the Constitution of the United States, and tearing down the Court System…
How UNAmerican can you get?? Maybe we were wrong to get rid of the UnAmerican Affairs Committees in Congress… They could find a whole lot of fuel on this Blog!!
Well Reg where is jaybird when he is needed. I just noticed that we posted at the same time. I guess you could do that if you had two computers going at the same time and hit send at the same time. What do you think jaybird?
Pope what are you ranting about. Some strict constitutionists like to cross their ts and dot their is. Do you have a problem with this?
Yep there goes that right wing again not agreeing with the pope and he of course is always right.
Unamerican, give us a break and go pack.
AS I have stated before, the real fear of the religious right is the mistaken belief that gay marriage will be MANDATORY.
Rest easy, folks, no one is going to force you to marry Ralph from downtown.
Chas my friend?
You are debating James in 3 nics.
Well American, it’s a complex issue and one that I haven’t arrived at all the answers for myself as yet.
On one side of my family there are traditional marriages and on a newer side of the family, there is an Uncle Terry and Aunt Ben. – heh
I’ve met Uncle Terry and he is an extremely intelligent man (speaks several languages and is quite wealthy.) Haven’t met Aunt Ben yet. :)
As a person, Uncle Terry is very likeable and easy to get along with. He is very caring and passionate about treating humans like he wants to be treated.
As stated earlier, my spiritual side states that only males and females are to be married.
However, I don’t live my spiritual world in a legal context. That is, I cannot apply what I know to be true in my heart and soul to a government’s way of governing.
I can see both sides of the law concerning the gay marriage issue and it’s a terrible dilemma.
It’s like having a favorite toy and there is a dispute. The father rips the toy in half and gives each a half and says, “There, now go play and be happy.” Just not the same, if you know what I mean. (sorry bad analogy, but the mind is tired.) :)
Anyway, it’s a personal struggle within me and I have mixed feelings about it, but I continue to ponder it – with the realization there may never be a resolution in my worldly status.
WS you know you really don’t have to read between the lines in my posts. I say exactly what I mean. I don’t care if gay/lesbians marry whoever they wish but if the majority of people think there needs to be a strict definition of marriage then I don’t think the courts have the right to overturn that by inserting ‘civil rights’. The ammendment/referrendum simply defined marriage as between an man and woman.
Jaybird you are really denser than I gave you credit for.

Blah, blah,
“There is no reason to oppose gay marriage. It doesn’t hurt anyone.” Blah, Blah.
——
Look at the marriage stats in the USA. If I was gay I would be thrilled marriage was generally illegal. I could keep all of my things if the relationship went south. If it was legal that would mean I would only have a 50% chance of keeping 50% of MY property and only have visitation rights to my dog!!
(purely for humor)
“I don’t think the courts have the right to overturn that by inserting ‘civil rights’.” [okobserver]
As I stated earlier… a pefect example of the Anti-American view points being avowed on this Blog…. Civil rights are the foundation of this nation… take those away, and you tear down the country, our Law, and our Constitution… What Commie country does observer come from anyway??

Let’s see what else or who else he’s got.
“but if the majority of people think there needs to be a strict definition of marriage then I don’t think the courts have the right to overturn that”
Yes, they do. That is their job. The Founding Father defined the government with three separate but equal branches of government. It is the responsibility of the Judicial branch to protect the rights of minorities.
In 1950, the MAJORITY of Americans were just fine with “separate but equal.” The courts rules that it was unconstitutional.
Today, only the most bigoted among us would accept a “separate but equal” policy.
The courts are there to protect the minority.
Thank God.
“BlueJay” is a meaningless leach, or a thieving squawking bird, which ever you prefer.

I am pretty certain that no one in their right mind wants to go boating in your pond, Anti-everything.
Clark, I am simply saying if you are gay fine, want to get married fine. Just don’t force your lifestyle or flame it up any more than the rest of us. When there are flamboyant hetero parades ect. maybe I will change my mind. Bending most threads you(KFG) post on into a “gay issue” doesn’t help your cause.
Fish taste better in an un-boated pond Clark, you should know that.
“ANTI” declares –
“…When there are flamboyant hetero parades ect. maybe I will change my mind.”
“WSClark,” do you want to tell “ANTI” about the Mummers or shall I?
Clark, do you let the Jehovah Witness folk into your house when they come a knockin’?
“Just don’t force your lifestyle”
How is it that you figure that gays “force their lifestyles” on anyone?
And for the record, not that it matters, I am straight, Anti.
MH- I have seen a few of the “Gay Pride” parades…..Straight not so much, so go on, tell me.
For the record Clark, I don’t care what you are, doesn’t matter to me. For the record.
But I assume you have the “B” word lined up for me.
Cosmos,
Are you really this dumb or do you just pretend to be? Here is how you mischaracterize me and is an example of the tactic you use in almost every one of our discussions:
“Nathan Price is also the judge of what is credible science.”
When have I ever claimed such a thing? Never.
You are the one who labels everyone as credible or not. I do not attempt to argue that Climate scientists are not “credible” unless I am making an example of how you do it to any scientist whose funding comes from some company.
I simply disagree with some of the conclusions that scientists come to. I think most of them are probably pretty smart people who work hard and are credible.
You on the other hand? As I have asked you before, you have said that there are no credible scientists who oppose AGW.
“When an agricultural economist lies about what climate scientists believe, Nathan says that we should respect the lying economist.”
I have never said any such thing.
“Nathan believes that the lying economist is a honest, credible scientist.”
I never said any such thing.
“And Nathan will say that you are a “believer in the holy religion of AGW, not science” if you disagree.”
No, I say that about you cosmos. Just you. Maybe a few others here, but only those who declare with absolute authority that AGW is real and there can be no dissent.
Well, I gotta go. Wish I could have got in on this earlier, could have been a good conversation. Good night.

The tide has turned and you guys are SO on the wrong side of this issue. Wave bye bye as the train leaves the station without you.
Source: NYTimes
Gov. David A. Paterson has directed all state agencies to begin to revise their policies and regulations to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other jurisdictions, like Massachusetts, California and Canada.
In a directive issued on May 14, the governor’s legal counsel, David Nocenti, instructed the agencies that gay couples married elsewhere “should be afforded the same recognition as any other legally performed union.”
The revisions are most likely to involve as many as 1,300 statutes and regulations in New York governing everything from joint filing of income tax returns to transferring fishing licenses between spouses.
In a videotaped message given to gay community leaders at a dinner on May 17, Mr. Paterson described the move as “a strong step toward marriage equality.” And people on both sides of the issue said it moved the state closer to fully legalizing same-sex unions in this state.

Dinasaurs, waiting for better weather….
Why are you going to gay pride parades anti?
Cruising? Looking for folks you know so you can out them at work? Filming for your local church so THEY can out folks and tisk tisk at the antics?
Or… could it be… anti is looking for a little action on the down low?
Hint: If you dont like the parades, dont go. Dont watch. It’s really quite simple.
And have you ever seen thirty thousand “irishmen” puke in New York on St Paddy’s day?
I have. Let’s not talk about parade outrages. And how about the Christopher Columbus Day parades where you cant find a sober or virgin italian in the tristate area?
Oh yeah. LETS talk about “celebrations”.
I dont go to the ones that offend me.
Why do you?
Sorry MH, that was for Clark. However the context remains the same.
KFG,
My life will go on either way.
Being from around garden city and all, I wonder just how many gay pride parades anti has seen in person?
Or do you just watch the films from parades past in your church while lamenting the eeeeeevils of homosexuality?
Do you sport wood at the thought?
I’m thinking he’s never BEEN to a pride parade. He’s just spouting the american taliban talking points.
For sure he’s never been to the oh so tame Wichita parade….
Your life? ROFLMAO
Come back here when you GET a real life!
KFG, Driving in down town Topeka, KC, Denver, for business.
KFG as flamboyant and in your face as you think!
Blah, Blah, F’Blah.
“But I assume you have the “B” word lined up for me.”
Are you suggesting that you are BUTCH, Anti?
Dang.
KFG, did you not see me say-Clark, I am simply saying if you are gay fine, want to get married fine.
I don’t go to church. Bigot much.
Oh and, um, could you keep your crosses and nativity scenes off the courthouse lawns. I HATE when you flamboyantly (lights, colors, graven images and live animals) push your lifestyle on ME!
And could you tone down the 10000 flamboyant mega church crosses. I HATE when you ruin the city skyline just to push your lifestyle on others.
Oh and another thing, about that religious jewelry and those “christian flags”. COULD you please not offend the rest of us by pushing that lifestyle?
I mean, why do you have to be so PUBLIC about something that even jesus said should be done in private.
But I dont mind chritians, just dont ACT like one in public.
And I really dont mind straight people as long as they ACT gay in public!
“I don’t go to church. Bigot much.”
Huh?
Geez, pride parades are held one day a year. Now… what are the odds anti was in those cities on those pride parades and just happened to drive by on business.
Most pride parades are held on Sundays. WTF were you doing “driving downtown” for business on Sundays? Do you sell bibles?
I call bullshit.
And even if your long odds were true? Turn around. Find another route. You dont HAVE to go or watch if the parades offend you.
Sounds to me like someone schedules their “downtown business travel” with pride parades in mind.
Maybe I was right the first time. Maybe he attends those FLAMBOYANT parades because he’s a cruisin’ on the down low.
That would explain why he wants the parades under wraps.
KFG, you are going to start a fire, cool down. I am fine with gay marriage. I was at a “Union” Saturday in your neck of the woods. I have a good friend that is a cattle man that is gay…not a big deal to me. What bothers me is people baiting others with race, sex, ect. issues to start shit. Flaunting in the face of others for the only purpose to get a reaction. This doesn’t help your cause!!! It further divides people!
Downtown? Do you even KNOW where the Denver, Topeka and KC parades are held? WHEN they are held?
Tell me the streets and when they were held. I can check it out if you are not lying.
Which I think you are.
G.C. drive to K.C or Topeka for early Monday meetings. You do the math.
Also, I have seen them on Saturdays. The Point still stands.
“Flaunting in the face of others for the only purpose to get a reaction.:
That’s an old canard and a taliban talking point.
If the folks who react would stay away, we would still have parades. And better ones at that.
Like I said, dont like pride parades? Great. Stay away from them.
“G.C. drive to K.C or Topeka for early Monday meetings.”
So you were there in the morning or early afternoon? And you just happened to be there on pride day?
What month are pride parades held?
And again, what are the odds you were places for business on THREE pride parades?
Which did you see on Saturday, and which on Sunday?
And again, what are the odds? And now you go for Monday meetings on Saturdays?
Just keep diggin’ son. You aint out of the hole yet.
KFG, are you that ignorant?- for early Monday meetings.
And of course there was not an event every single time I went.
Put your feathers down please, you look desperate.
over a few years, I didn’t keep a dated log or take pics, or start a website. Sorry
Must be using the google franticly to find the pride dates.
Or… he took his sore and bruised ass to bed.
That’s what happens when you get it kicked.
I never said there was a parade everytime you went.
I said it’s mighty long odds that you would have been downtown on weekends for so many parades that you “accidently” stumbled upon.
If you were so offended, why did you go? Or were you seeking it out? Or are you just repeating the talking points and have REALLY never been to a pride parade?
I suspect the latter.
I am not going to leave at midnight to be in NE KS by 7 or 8 AM. I made a weekend out of it.
I spoke earlier about that tide toward tolerance that was going to wash over intolerance.
It’s here.
“Put your feathers down please, you look desperate”
Uh no, I’m not the one desperately trying to spin my way out of a statement that is the equivalent of having your alligator mouth overload your tadpole ass.
“I made a weekend out of it.”
I bet.
Me thinks anti was just ever so lucky to be in those three towns, on pride days, to make a weekend of it.
How conveeeeeeeenient!
Your hatred has caused you to completely missed the point. Unbelievable!
Again-I am fine with gay marriage. Thank you Nathaniel Price, for being honest.
Cant think of many who would go looking for entertainment in downtown KC or Topeka on a Sat. or Sun. nite… or Denver either… LOL
This is great spinning!!
KFG, again OVER YEARS, I also stumbled on a phelps parade/protest—-I was amazed at the hate from those idiots. Same with a White National Socialist (?) thing (I wouldn’t call it a parade). If you move off the farm you see different things…..not a secret any more.
KFG-”Me thinks anti was just ever so lucky to be in those three towns, on pride days, to make a weekend of it.”
Idiot, that is not why I “made a weekend of it”, those towns do have other things to offer you know.
And KFG, you have a baseless argument, other than attack and hate. Good night.
Again Cosmos,
All you can do is twist my words….
“So why did Nathan post the lying agricultural economist Dennis Avery here?”
What lie did he tell cosmos?
I posted a link to his list here as evidence that there are scientist who have studies which do not neccisarily go in line with the so called “concensus.”
“Nathan was actually admitting that Avery, and the other posts upthread were “all liars and hacks!”.”
I never admitted any such thing.
“Thank you Nathaniel Price, for being honest.”
You are welcome, now only if you could do the same.
But — you didnt disagree with this either >>
“The above illustrates that the will of the people, the voters in the vast majority of states – have voted in favor or protecting marriage as between a man and a woman.”
If you didnt speak against it, that could mean you are FOR what was voted erroneously in CA…

Inference is a weak argument.

Nathaniel, WHY are you unable to understand simple facts?
Avery has told many lies.
Dansgaard-Oeschger events are not global warming, and do NOT refute the “concensus”.
Most (probably all) of the scientists Avery lists AGREE with the “concensus”

A good “Point-Counterpoint” of Avery’s lies are here,
