McCain adviser doesn’t want to work against Obama

mccainAnother top aide is leaving John McCain’s campaign, though this time it is not because of lobbyist connections. Mark McKinnon, McCain’s top media consultant, is leaving because of a pledge he made last year not to campaign against Barack Obama. “I just don’t want to work against an Obama candidacy,” McKinnon said last year, adding that electing Obama “would send a great message to the country and the world.” McKinnon is a former Democrat but was a key consultant in President Bush’s 2000 and 2004 campaigns and has been with McCain since 2006. He said he will remain a “friend and fan” of McCain’s campaign.

Huh? A former Democrat who assisted Bush in his 2000 and 2004 campaigns is evidencing principles? Color me skeptical.

How many does this make now? How many in the last week? At least three key fund raisers chose to keep their ties to lobbyists secret so left the campaign. There was a spokesman. I think this makes SIX in one week! This is quite an organization, huh? Indicative of support he might expect when putting together a cabinet? Gives one pause, or should anyway.

I don’t know Steven, at times it does seem a war between what is right and Politics.
And certainly this year is one that many are put in a moral dilemma, if Hillary wins it will mean something more than simply another election. The same for Obama or Mc Cain it is the eight hundred pound gorilla in the room. Those who win will also be seen as being responsible for causing the lost of a first and best chance. We should not be seeing it that way, but such is the luck of having two firsts running in the same election. I can understand Mark Mc Kinnon’s dilemma and I would not want to be a part of it in this circumstance.
It is a hopeful sign though, perhaps what is right and moral is making a come back and putting the country’s good over Party Partisanship is the right thing to do.

God, wouldn’t that be great? I’m actually starting to see a glimmer of hope and light at the end of this 8 yr long dark tunnel we’ve been in.

Anyone know who McKinnon made the pledge to? Or do I need to read the link?
