But a new study found that as a group, immigrants of the past quarter century have been assimilating at a notably faster rate than did previous generations, the Washington Post reported. And this is in spite of the fact that today’s immigrants arrive here with lower levels of English proficiency and less earning power than immigrants at the turn of the 20th century.

Assimilating because of all the sanctuary cities and Libs who who talk about ‘evil employers’ hiring illegal aliens and then the Lib politicians protecting said illegal aliens even in matters where the illegal aliens commit crimes.

Illegals are illegals regardless of race. They are breaking the law and costing the American economy and taxpayer enormously. They are closing down emergency rooms at community hospitals and dumbing down our schools. I really, really hate to say this, but I agree with Boxlick. I understand that people want to make their lives better, and we offer that better life here, in addition to letting everyone know it! But if I rob a bank to feed my family, you can bet I’ll pay for that to the full extent of the law. Fair? Not hardly.
OTOH, I understand that our Immigration laws have not been enforced correctly for many years. When INS agents are bilking those trying to enter the country legally by taking their money for paperwork, then “losing” it, more than once, when companies are involved in hiring workers they know are in this country illegally, when landlords turn a blind and greedy eye to 10 to 15 people living in a rental house, steps need to be taken immediately.
An overhaul of the immigration system is not necessarily the answer. Enforcing the laws on the books (in all areas, not just immigration) would go a long way in correcting a worsening situation.

You question what am I going to do?
Continue to inform, however I can, the general populous of the problems arising from all the illegals. Write my state and federal leaders regularly. Report those companies I believe are hiring illegals to gain an unfair competitive advantage in the market place. Donate to organizations active against illegal alien entry like the Minuteman organization. Vote for those coming out strongly against illegal entry and for the enforcement of our laws, and those against any entitlements for illegals. When it becomes hard to get in, and harder to live comfortably once in if illegal, the flow will slow considerably.

Senate amnesty vote postponed ’til next week — time to create grassroots firestorm to stop it!
Because the House of Representatives unexpectedly delayed the Iraq supplemental spending bill late Thursday, the full Senate won’t be allowed today to vote on the amnesty bill that the Senate Appropriations Committee unexpectedly took up and approved Thursday.
Rosemary Jenks (Vice President, Government Relations, numbersusa.com) just finished reading the Iraq supplemental spending bill as it came out of committee. It would:
*Grant a three-year work visa followed by a permanent greencard to all illegal aliens who have been working as shepherds, goat herders and dairy herders.
*Grant a five-year work visa to the estimated 1.3 million illegal aliens working in other agricultural jobs — plus all of their families. There is no instruction on what happens after the five years.
*Grant a tripling of the maximum number of H-2B visas for lower skill, non-agricultural seasonal workers.
*Grant industries an extra 218,000 additional permanent green cards for skilled foreign workers.
Rosemary says you don’t have to have spent much time in the fields to
qualify for Feinstein and Craig’s amnesty.
You only have to meet ONE of the following three criteria to get the amnesty:
*Earned $7,000 working in agriculture during the 2004-2007 period.
*Or worked 863 hours in agriculture during the 2004-2007 period.
*Or worked at least a little bit in agriculture on 150 different days during the 2004-2007 period.
That amounts to an average of $1,750 per year …
*… or 216 hours per year (the equivalent of 4 hours per week) …
*… or parts of 37 days per year.
