It’s not as pithy as “wear sunscreen†or “if opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door,†but Gov. Kathleen Sebelius’ worthy suggestion for graduating seniors, offered in a recent commentary, bears repeating: “Take a moment to be proud of your accomplishments and don’t forget to thank your parents, your teachers or that special person in your life who has helped you reach this milestone and who will be with you as you strive for more to come.â€

True, graduates of high schools, community colleges, technical schools, four year colleges and universities, graduate schools and military training … should take a moment to quietly thank those who got you there so far.
Then shift gears to continue to move along on that long road to reach your goal.
Too bad politicians of all stripes can’t seem to match their goals to those of our younger generations today so we could all pull together.
It would be nice if they would also thank their country by enlisting in the military and serving it for 4 years before going to college.
Goes a long way to show that no man can do it ALL ALONE. You need help along the way no matter who you are.
Appreciate those who helped you get where you are, and then, help others who are less fortunate. Its pretty simple really. Ah hem.
Kev
That would be nice, except they would be in the company of the multi convicted felons that the Army and Marines are now allowing into the pack — and some evidence that gangs are sending their “soldiers” into the military to learn about armament, explosives, etc ……..
I wonder if the services will now allow concealed carry on bases, forts etc ….
I think many high school graduates are getting smart enough not be cannon fodder for what ever foreign misadventure that the government wants to put them in.
I know my daughter has been overrun with military brochures and pamphlets.
And if I remember right, I checked the box that said we didn’t want the military to contact her.
I have one grandson in college and three in high school right now. They are ALL smart enough to ignore the arm twisting. But it is at an all-time high!
Yeah, graduates.
Be thankful for wage slavery.
It could be worse after all . . .
