Chief justice’s lighter side

robertskuChief Justice John Roberts wasn’t entirely serious in his talk last week to a packed house at the University of Kansas. Asking his audience to ponder life without the Louisiana Purchase, which turned 205 years old this week, he said: “Imagine a Kansas cookout with berets instead of ball caps, beef bourguignonne instead of barbecue and fans yelling ‘Vive les Jayhawks.’æ”

Then there was this: “I find that when I tell lawyer jokes to a mixed audience, the lawyers don’t think they’re funny and the nonlawyers don’t think they’re jokes.”

“Seizures are the lighter side of Mr. Roberts.”

    I don’t even know what that means . . .

    Oh well.

I don’t know why we should be surprised that even a Chief Justice of the SCOTUS can be funny, and have a sense of humor. Like all of us, he’s just human.

What is it about Kansas that it has become the destination for every CON in the current administration?

    Bush, twice

    Cheney

    John Roberts

    KKKarl Rove

Government of the corporations, by the corporations and FOR the corporations.

I laughed at his humor! Do lawyers know the most lawyer jokes?

Capn, there aren’t many places left where the worst of this administration can actually find an appreciative audience, guess Kansas is one of those isolated places.

Captain, I think kansas may change it’s slogan from “as bigoted as you think” to…

    The Last Refuge of Scoundrels!

And Roberts has been hospitalized for unexplained seizures. Nice of beber to be so tolerant of illness.

Well, there isn’t much to draw anyone here. And the younger generation leaves in droves. Last one out turn off the kerosene lamp, and close the door on the outhouse.

Well, I think he’s almost there- lawyer jokes aren’t funny and all too often they aren’t jokes. More’s the pity.
