The next few days will test whether President Bush can be of fundraising service to John McCain, despite a presidential approval rating that just fell to a record low 23 percent in a Reuters/Zogby poll. Bush will raise money for the nominee-to-be at three events in Arizona and Utah this week. McCain certainly needs help of some kind, having raised $18.5 million in April as the Democratic rivals raised a combined $51.7 million. Bush also will pay a visit to Kansas Thursday to raise money for state Sen. Nick Jordan’s challenge of Rep. Dennis Moore, D-Lenexa.

President G.W. Bush still has the attraction of the “Fame factor” someone for better or worst is famous and the chance to be close is worth money. Years later who ever attends can say when his name is brought up can say “ I met him”. That said, yes you wonder if any Republican running for office cringes at the thought of being reminded that they will be running with Bush’s face superimposed over their own.
“writerdog” notes –
“…Bush still has the attraction of the “Fame factor” someone…”
In Hollywood they’re called “Star-Fuc#ers.”
It’s interesting that in the most Republic Party-oriented state in the union, Utah, they originally scheduled a huge hotel ballroom for the fund-raiser, then moved it to a private home because they couldn’t sell enough tickets. And McBush doesn’t want to be photographed with Shrub again. (Not after that bear hug.)
23% of Americans think Dumbya is doing a good job, however, and they and they alone have a spare $25,000-a-plate to eat rubber chicken and be seen with the worst president in American history. Even they can’t fill the rumpus room of a private home in Salt Lake City.
The billionaires invested just a few thousands of dollars each into Bush’s campaign and they got back millions and millions in crony contracts and tax breaks.
Buying a RepubliCON president is just good business.
That’s why Bush actually said, “some call you the haves and the have-mores. I call you my base.“
And check that 23 percent approval rating.
He’s lower than Nixon when Nixon resigned.
Bush is the only pResident since modern polling began who spent his entire second term below 50 percent approval.
Nice job, CONs. Way to f*** up by supporting your f*** up of a president.
I hope they get lots of good pictures of Bush and McCain. Maybe they can get Hagee or Parsley to do the opening prayer.
The pres. with the lowest rating since polling began, still is a big fund raiser. His base, the ultra rich continue to give pay back for their preferential tax and law changes, courtest of GWB. Bush and Repub. party have only the very rich, and very ignorant supporting them.
McCain has already guarded against the photo ops, the fund raises will be closed to the media. They’re not pandering to their ignorant poor backers this time around, just the money people. Which is why that group was excluded from the Repub. Rove fund raiser.
The Prez: “Yeah, I’m going to do a fundraisination for my buddy John. I don’t understand why he asked me to wear these glasses with the fake nose and use the rear entrance. It’s a misquestion in my own mind!”
Headline should be “Can bush fill McCain’s Coffin?” I for one think bush will bury McCain!
McCain/Bush or Bush/McCain. See the difference?
No!
I wonder why Rhonda didn’t mention that Bush planned a fundraiser in Arizona but had to change venues to prevent the mass number of empty seats. The planners were also concerned that the number of protesters would outnumber the people paying to get in.
bth,
There’s only one manly embrace picture that matters: the one in which Huggy Bear gets him some sugar from All Hat.

McCain is SOOOOOOOOOOO toast. The Right actually WANTS him to fail, to put some time between themselves and the Bush “Administration,” and to furnish a cautionary tale as to what happens to you if you run as a political “maverick”–not that McCain is one, by the way.
The numbers–or, in this case, the lack of them–tell the tale.
The Prez: “Yeah, I’m going to do a fundraisination for my buddy John. I don’t understand why he asked me to wear these glasses with the fake nose and use the rear entrance. It’s a misquestion in my own mind!”
McCain: Well ahh Mr. President the straight talk is it for your own safety… Ahh that’s it ….( McCain step another five feet away incase there are any cameras in the bushes) For your safety!”.
No doubt it’ll be harder to get a camera through security than at a Stone’s concert!
The Prez: “And you want me to wear adress?? OK, I guess, but forget the high heels; I’m wearing my wingtips with my dress– a fella gotta draw the line summer!!”
