Pay attention to pope, Brownback says

popeIn a Washington Times commentary, Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., anticipated Pope Benedict XVI’s message to America and asked people to listen closely. “While our nation’s churches will not immediately fill up following his visit, perhaps we can hope for something more modest: an ever-so-slight movement closer to the recognition that we are all one human family.

“These days offer the chance to reflect on things eternal: life and love, Heaven and Hell, human frailty and human destiny. My prayer is that we do not pass it up.”
Brownback, a convert to Catholicism, also was at the center of a controversy over a Senate resolution welcoming the pontiff. Brownback sponsored the legislation, which passed the Senate Thursday only after language mentioning “each and every human life” was excised at the urging of Democrats, who viewed it as a reference to abortion.

Then why are we killing our brothers and sisters in Iraq?

Good on the Dems keeping the cons honest!

Brownback and the cons are always trying to shove a nose into the tent. Or rather the bedroom.

They don’t care about every human life. Witness Darfur, Tibet, and millions of Americans without access to health care.

Good for the Dems keeping the cons from talking the talk til they walk the walk.

Benedict’s visit will ultimately be one of hope. He tells us, “the one who hopes lives differently.” He will invite us to a different kind of life: not simply a moral conversion, but a conversion of our whole way of being. He will tell us we are more than we think we are, with a dignity — and a destiny — beyond our imagining.

Wow! Sounds like the Pope and Brownback are both endorsing Obama.

That is exactly the message of Senator Obama!!!

“Each and every human life”. So Nancy Pelosi thought that was objectionable. Says a lot, doesn’t it, about the viewpoint and priorities of the Democrat party.

And if she thought this was a reference to abortion, what is she admitting?

“Nancy Pelosi” should have been “Barbara Boxer”.

I read that same endorsement for Obama from Brownback AND His Holiness, KansasNative!

Maybe they both appreciate being treated as an intelligent adult and recognize problems aren’t even addressed by the game of politics, let alone solved!

Gives me some “hope” that Brownback may be able to think!

“the one who hopes lives differently.”

Good advice from Mr. Brownback. I hope that both he and his colleague Sen. Robertson listen carefully to what the Pope says today at the United Nations about war. I hope that both senators prayerfully consider their roles in supporting the execution of Bush’s war on Iraq and perhaps consider how the Pope himself demonstrated humility by apologizing for and expessing shame for the Church’s handling of its past misdeeds. Both Brownback and Robertson are culpable for what we see in Iraq today.

Good post kansasdem! What a kind, Christian way you have of looking at the world. I join you in hope.

Roberts and Brownback in prayer about their part in the war…

bushco being humble enough to EVEN admit errors — it’s too much to expect apologies…

I would like to propose the idea that some, not all, of those wanting a strategic withdrawal of troops as the Iraqi army is able to step up are not “pro-war” and don’t like it that we are continuing to have casualties and spend massive bucks. But they also believe that the job must be finished.

I would also like to propose the idea that some, not all, of those who want to get out of Iraq yesterday are not “anti-war” nor ignorant of the carnage that would ensue should we leave precipitously. But in their judgment the loss of US lives and money is simply not worth it.

    There.

Also, I think that there should be timetables for withdrawal, with a little flexibility. And those timetables should be top secret, known only to top US and Iraqi leaders. Who knows, they may now exist.

Brownback says listen to the Pope, the Pope opposes the occupation of Iraq, Brownback supports to occupation. Brownback is a hypocrite. ’nuff said.

While Sen. Brownback is prayerfully considering the Pope’s message to the UN,he should prayerfully consider repudiating the words of the fundamentalist Prostestant evangelical John Haggee, whom he sidled up to to get Haggee’s endorsement of John McCain. Haggee is a bigot who curses Catholics. Here’s what the president of the Catholic League said when McCain said he was quoting Haggee out of context: “Did we also mischaracterize Hagee when he called my religion ‘The Great Whore,’ the ‘apostate church,’ the ‘anti-Christ’ and a ‘false cult system’? McCain cannot ignore Hagee’s lies any more than he can tolerate his bigotry. This is getting out of control.”

Good question for Mr. Brownback, a recent convert to Catholicism: Do you repudiate Mr. Haggee and reject his support for Sen. McCain?

I don’t expect either GOP Senator Brownback or Democrat Governor Sebellius to be invited to work in the presidential administrations of McCain or Obama because both continually refuse the ignore the outrageous human rights violations in which hundreds of children have been illegally stolen from their parents by out of control juvenile courts as grist for an EVIL child protective agency industry in Kansas which employees hundreds of unethical or incompetent social workers, attorneys & psychologists. Recently dozens of cases are surfacing in which Wichita judges and attorneys committed illegal acts. Sebelius aid Patrick Woods is aware of these many allegations. Brownback’s Wichita staffer Tammy Woods was at the August 2007 Pachyderm Club meeting in which State Representative Jim Morrison (Chairman of the House Committee on Government Efficiency( told the audience that he had illegally received a copy of a cancelled check to bribe a Sedgwick County family law judge in a custody dispute. Sedgwick Country District Court Judicial candidate Bruce Brown, was also present. Should citizens expect Bruce Brown to publicly talk about documented cases of illegal acts by Wichita attorneys & judges (that are currently running for election or re-election) when Brown’s campaign manager is the Foulston Seifken attorney, Gary Ayers? After all Ayers’ former law partner, US Attorney Eric Melgren, is supposed to investigate allegations of bribery and Ayer’s former partner, Carol Beier, is the Kansas Supreme Court Justice responsible for monitoring problems in Sedgwick County, and Ayers’ partner, Mikel Stout is on the Commission on Judicial Qualifications that recently refused to censure or remove Judge Rebecca Pilshaw for her criminal activity and Ayers’ former partner, Gloria Flenje-Focht is a member of the brand new Commission on Judicial Evaluations which is supposed to evaluate district court judges so the average citizen can decide if the judge should be retained or re-elected.
The hypocrisy of Brownback & Sebellius are especially odious. Brownback parades around 3rd world countries pontificating about human rights abuses while he ignores the fascism practiced by his protoge, US attorney, Eric Melgren. Sebellius who is married to federal magistrate Gary Sebellis and whose only join the private sector was to work as a lobbyist for the Kansas Trial Attorneys’ Association has proven that she is a prostitute for the fascist Kansas Supreme Court & Kansas Bar Association. Is anyone really surprised that Sebellius top aides were the spouse of a Supreme Court Justice Donald Allegrucci and the long-term director the corrupt Board of Healing Larry Buening which recently covered up, delayed and minimized the discipline of a West Wichita family physician who drugged up his female patient with powerful psychotropic drugs, seduced her and then raped her twice. Buening and his top assistant, general counsel, Mark Stafford, recently resigned after both the Kansas Senate & House passed resolutions requesting their resignations.

The women voters in Kansas need to demand answers to find out if District Attorney Nola Foulston, SRS Regional Director Jean Hogan, Justices Kay McFarland & Carol Beier, Wichita Judge Pilshaw and Federal Judge Kathleen Vrtil have sold their souls to become part of the greedy good old boy network that profits by endanger the physical and psychological health of women and children. Justice Beier’s record is especially odious because she was a former staff attorney for for the Women’s & Children’s center at and recommended that Sedgwick County District Court Chief Administrative Judge Richard Ballinger be re-appointed for another 2 year term in January 2006 even after the Commission on Judicial Qualifications started investigating Balliinger for encouraging another Judge Warren Wilbert for having an inappropriate relationship which a female family law court employee who filed a sexual harassment complaint against Wilbert. The fear of retaliation from the gangster Wichita Bar Association and the good old boy network of Sedgwick County District Court judges is so strong that no courageous GOP or Democrat attorney has filed to challenge Ballinger or Wilbert in the general election or in the August primary despite their public censures in early 2006.
Christian voters should ask themselves if Senator Brownback & US Representative Todd Tiahrt are only narcissistic “kingdom builders” who have literally sold their souls to be re-elected. I hope that Sebellius & Brownback & the partners at Foulston Seifkin read Matthew Chapter 18 and ponder if the millstones around their neck are starting to feel heavy. I pray that Municipal Judge Bruce Brown and his opponents will address these issues especially in response to citizens’ questions during public forums.
