"They were studies showing that overall violent crime rates go down."

The numbers don't support that, Nathan, no matter what the NRA says.

The murder rate in Wichta has almost dounbled in the last year...that should be cause for concern regardless of the reason...we need to do something about the violence in this country, and anytime you have a population that is that out of control and flood it with guns, and people use this lethal weapon to settle their differnces or attempt suicide, then there is going to be more death.
We have more than 14 times the rate of gun deaths than any industrialized country. I'm not saying that people shouldn't be able to protect themselves...but we need stricter gun regulation so that guns aren't so accessable to those who have no business having one. And the penalties for criminals possessing a gun should be much stiffer, not just a slap on the hand.

"Weasel actions by Obama."

129 out of over 4,000. 50 plus of the present votes as part of a Democratic Party legislative strategy.

Give it a rest - it's a non-issue.

Mary,

The studies cited are not as general as saying "crime" goes down.

They were studies showing that overall violent crime rates go down.

Again, it has been barely a year since the Concealed Carry law has been passed and just over 10,000 Kansas residents have gotten a Concealed Carry license.

The only one here distorting things to make some political point is you.

You continue to have nothing to offer in this conversation beyond your irrational and emotional fear of guns.

What the New York Times wrote on Obama's Present vote

“If you are worried about your next election, the present vote gives you political cover,” said Kent D. Redfield, a professor of political studies at the University of Illinois at Springfield. “This is an option that does not exist in every state and reflects Illinois political culture.”

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/20/us/politics/20obama.html

As I said, Obama is worried about his political life which is purely selfish self interest and Obama is putting his political life above the will of the people.

Reg / Grm — A NO vote in committee is of no consequence… Obama voted PRESENT on the Floor vote… the one that actually counts for something…

THUS — Grm — You sstill cannot show where Obama voted on on 1095 because he didnt vote NO on 1095 — For what I hope is the LAST time… He voted PRESENT!!
---------------------------------

It's still weaseling out by not taking a stance Chas, no matter how one looks at it.

People of Illinois I'm very sure did not vote for Obama to vote "Present" in the Illinois State Senate.

Chas what is your point in proving he voted present. Does that make him noble or what? He did not support a bill that would have given human status to a new born. He voted by his non vote to allow that baby to be discarded like yesterdays garbage as if they never existed. Do you get the point yet. I guarantee the American public will get it. You are backing a flawed candidate. I couldn't say it any clearer.

As for late term abortions, I recall asking you the other day, Grm, how many of the 50 states have NO restrictions on late term abortions... You simple gave a typical type blow off answer...

Now, ANSWER the question...

How many of the 50 States have NO restrictions on late term abortions??

IF you find any, then they should be encouraged to implement them...

I care about you too, Chas!

Well they say that I'm egotistical

I don't even know what that means

I guess it has something to do with the way

I fit in my skin tight blue jeans.

Chas,

I do believe the point ksgrm was trying to make is that Obama took a position of NO in the debate both on the floor and in the conference committee.

He then did a weasel movement and voted "Present" to avoid future conflict on his position.

This would be like you or I going to a Poll place to vote, initial by our name that confirms out name and address that we indeed were present and identified, but we never stepped into the voting booth.

It's a weasel action and says that Obama abuses the system to try to make himself look good.

Did Obama Actually Vote For Infanitide?
I finally came across the hard facts concerning Obama's voting record on the protection of infants here.

IL Senate 2001

* Senate Bill 1095, Born Alive Infant Protection Act
* Voted "no" in the Senate Judiciary Committee (March 28, 2001)
* Argued against the bill on the IL Senate floor (March 30, 2001)
* Voted "present" for the bill (March 30, 2001)

Chas as you can see in comittee he clearly voted against it. The coward then didn't have the courage of his convictions and voted 'present' in the senate.

What a loser. Just keep backing and practice saying President McCain.
