"This documentary is going to do a lot to expose the irrational arrogance and fear in the Darwinist community. Such that they will stoop to ruining careers in order to keep it a true believers only club. Even on the site blog Stein is being shouted down.

"Mark your calendars for April 18th and go see it.

"I dare you."

Scientists have this funny requirement, namely, that alternative theories be alternative scientific theories. There is no ID theory, just continued Rosanne Rosanna Danna objections involving "irreducable complexity" and, most importantly as to revelations of motive, objections to the very methodological naturalism basis of science (see the comments of people like Phillip Johnson). I suspect, outlander, that I already know a lot more about the ID movement than you do. You have already made it clear in earlier posts that you are a biblical literalist, and that is the very reason why the ID movement exists, to convince people like yourself that your views are backed by "scientists". That, and to try to forcably accomodate through political means ID philosophy in teaching science.

I probably don't need to see Stein's mockumentary, but if I do, I will make damn sure that neither Stein nor anyone else involved in the making of this movie makes money from it, or for that matter that I make no contribution towards recouping the cost of making this propoganda.

It's my way of "winning Ben Stein's money". ;-)

"Political_mama" --

"...I seriously don’t see how any smart person can be duped with all that fast double talk. I think he quoted 3 scriptures, all apart from each other, and then went off on a million different tangents of interpretation. Very hard to follow along. I think they do that on purpose."

Of course it's on purpose. In fact, it's scripted.

There was a documentary out a few years ago that caught the Assemblies of God annual convention and included people such as Jimmy Swaggart and other major (in that demonimantion, anyway) stars of mega-churches and radio and televangelism.

And they got talking about other people's sermons they'd preach!

Somebody mentioned one of the old-timers in that church and talked about gettting saved or whatever as a result of hearing it as a kid. And then he added, "And I've preached that sermon hundreds of times!" And then they talked about preachers they'd heard preaching the old classic sermons and got into the nuances of style. Stuff like, "Ol' Billy Sol Kindheart could get 'em coming up for the altar call before the offering!"

And others started dropping names of other preachers' sermons they'd preached all the time!

So many of those sermons are theatrical pieces!

This isn't to say those old sermons might not have saved souls every time they were performed. But that's what a lot of fundies and evangelicals study at bible "college."

It's theatre. And it's an art. Like being a magician or an actor. It takes advantage of what Aristole called "the willing suspension of disbelief."

And there's no saying Jimmy Swaggart and Reverend Moon and the Buddha and Billy Graham and Tammy Faye Bakker and Jesus and Joseph Smith and David Koresch and Jim Jones and former-Nazi Pope Benedict ARE'T men of God. (The Tammy Faye thing, especially.) But the way all of 'em did what the did and do, it's been "on purpose."

(A remdinder: Send your contributions to help out the poor, poor oil executives who might not make another $400 Million in the next quarter without another $18 Billion in taxpayers' dollars in subsidies to: HOBO (Help Out Big Oil), MonkeyHawk, Treasurer)*

OH my gosh, Amway, a hypocrite? I'd have never guessed.

And we thought the younger generation was the 'me' generation.

You know, I take care of the elderly, and for those who sit here and say they did everything themselves, BULL. One doctor I take care of told me he got all of his education from taxpayers. Sure he lives a good life, but he has no clue that those things aren't available to us anymore.

His wife, a nurse, was given her nursing education by working for the hospital that trained her. she did not pay out anything for her education. It came out of her paycheck.

Working for moving up isn't like it was back then.

Poor Old AmWay has swallowed the koolaide. He is not a worker, he is an owner; getting his due from the proletariat. Uh huh, who could doubt it?

Will he help his grandchildren, by making sacrifices on his entitlements? Hell, no. He is due what he paid in.

Feel sorry for any poor soul related to this fine citizen.

Careful Monkeyhawk, I said that one time and people took me seriously.

But the big oil executives have all our best interests in mind. I am just one of millions of Americans who own oil equities outright, in mutual funds, and/or in 401 plans.

God bless em.

Outlander, I'd love to hear your interpretation of the scriptures.

Do you dispute that the bible says those things?

Day-um, "Mary Caruso" --

You may be right!

I remember when Jesus strapped on his six guns and sauntered into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday announcing "There's a new Marshall in town!"

I think it was in the King...oops...Jesse James Version of the Holy Bible.
