Barack Obama said he gave his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the benefit of the doubt when Obama earlier repudiated comments excerpted from some of Wright’s old sermons. But after Wright’s incendiary comments Monday, Obama tried to leave no doubt today that he was repudiating both Wright and his views. “His comments were not only divisive and destructive but I believe that they end up giving comfort to those who prey on hate, and I believe that they do not portray accurately the perspective of the black church,” Obama said. “They certainly don’t portray accurately my values and beliefs.” Obama specifically denounced Wright’s “ridiculous proposition” that the U.S. government was involved in creating AIDS, Wright’s support of National of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, and Wright equating U.S. wartime efforts to terrorism. If Wright thinks Obama’s previous denunciation was “political posturing,” then “he doesn’t know me very well,” Obama said, adding later that Wright’s comments are “completely opposed to what I stand for and where I want to take this country.”
Obama said he wanted to be very clear that “Rev. Wright does not speak for me.” But Obama’s political opponents won’t be so willing to cut those ties.

As I’ve said before and it’s turning out to be true,
“Obama was fer Reverend Wright before he was agin him.”

If a Freshman senator from Illinois can do it, anyone can. See how easy it is. You tell the religious nut jobs that they don’t control politics.
Now will McCain repudiate Hagee and Parsley?
I don’t know, he may think our good friend Mr Regular will consider him a flip-flopper.
This was probably about the best thing he could do in a very tricky situation.
I make you a bet right now.
Wright’s ego won’t let it end here.
Next, HE will probably attack Obama as phoney or something.
Which actually will not be a bad thing. Wright COULD increasingly convince the whole world that he is just a nut.
“Wright COULD increasingly convince the whole world that he is just a nut.”
Most of us are already there…
Dear Presidential Candidate,
You cannot sit and listen to that kind of message for 20 years, call the man your spiritual mentor and expect not to be judged by it.
Obama is a coward.
Wright has said nothing new, in the last several days.
First, Obama says he, “Can not disown” Wright.
Then, Wright says absolutely NOTHING new —
And Obama disowns Wright?
I know what Obama SHOULD do next.
Obama should go to New York and face down Sharpton, telling Sharpton to accept the verdict of the court, in that police shooting case.
It would be a very smart thing for Obama to do:

I’m going to have to find out what exactly Wright said yesterday, apparently I missed something.
Heh like paulie’s assessment means anything to anyone.
If Paul could order Obama and Wright to change their skin color then he’d do it.
They killed the last African American that dared to challenge the Republican/Democrat power structure.
That was forty years ago this month.
You would think that we had come closer to the dream.
The racist (WE Blog for illegitimate children) have gotten their way - they have managed to bring Obama down without having to reveal their true opposition to Barack.
They should be very proud.
God help the next African American that attempts to challenge the Republican/Democrat power structure.
It’s all yours now - African American men and women may as well fold their tents and go home - the power brokers have spoken.
Not taking the bet Blue Jay. That’s a sucker bet. Will this affect NC? If there is any advice I would give, it would be to Hillary. Send Bill to Vegas with some spending money and don’t let him try to win back the Black Vote. She needs to do it herself. You got a week Hillary, move quickly.
I wouldn’t say that Clark. After all, Bill might try to win back the black vote in NC. Then Obama is ‘in like flint’
By the way. I am still a bit new. Who is Paulie?
Followed the link to the NY Post and the Bell Case. I almost fell out of my chair laughing when Sharpton accused Obama of “grandstanding.”
Oh, the irony . . . . .

Just who would “they” be? Last I heard, it was one guy with a rifle. Who’s now serving time for same.
So who is “they?”
Hey VET - maybe Hillary could hire Monica to keep Bill ‘occupied’
“Just who would “they” be?”
The Republican Party that does not want to face a black man in the general election.
The Democrat Party that does not want to nominate a black man to compete in the general election.
The white population of America that does not want to see a black man in a position of power.
Any more questions?
If you are referring to the killer of Dr. King, GMC, I missed your point.
“Who’s now serving time for same.”
James Earl Ray died years ago - he did not act alone - if you believe that he did, you are delusional.
White America killed Doctor King.
How about not voting for a Senator who has the most Liberal voting record in the Senate as a reason not voting for Obama.
How about not voting for a person who uses ‘weasel’ tactics like voting present to get out making a commitment to voting yes or no on issues that may affect him politically because he has to make a commitment (shock.)
Obama can try to bury the bones of his past, but his voting record is public and there for all to see.
Obama is experiencing the Malcolm X syndrome.
Obama is being taken out by his own.
WS
With your preoccupation with Obama’s race and how that is why he is now seemingly doomed.
I have to wonder. Were you for him just because he is black? Because increasingly this seems to be the only thing about him that you will mention.
The hope and change bit has gone by the by. And you bewail the loss of Obama (and he aint out yet!) is only because he is black?
I am not implying that. But NO ONE should vote for Obama because he is black anymore than they would not vote for him because he is black.
And in case you don’t know, Obama aint quitting. He’s in a spot to be sure. But why not hold off on the wake?
Valid point Regular. At least you are talking about the man’s voting record now instead of what type of toilet paper he uses. WS, I am not so sure about what you say about white people. Even my wife’s son (his late father was black) admited that Wright was racist and stupid. It’s also clear if Colin Powell (sp?) were to run, he would win in a walk. Dems and even GOP would like him.

“paulie” is variously known as “econ 101″ and “Franklin”.
He is sorta the blog charachature of a neocon. We think he wears bush underoos and he once said bush belonged on Mt. Rushmore.
Guilt by association.
This shows how desperate the CONs are to dig dirt on Obama.
The only thing they could find was the black equivalent of Rush Limbaugh.
They got nuthin’.
VET - I would never vote for ‘WMD’ Powell for anything.
Hey Larry,
On this BLOG there are some people that actually live their convictions. Ben is a very good guy that works very hard in environmental issues. He has been istrmental in cleaning up the local rivers amongst other things.
Steven is our resident Darwinist. Very knowlegeable and passionate. Always brings a lot to the discussion.
Nathaniel is my boy. He is the resident Marine and Christian apologist. Very strong convictions and willing to discuss or fight for them.
Paulie is our man that has spent a lot of his life fighting for pro life issues. Very active in the community when it comes to various pro life issues.
Ksfrmgrrl is our representatative from the gay community. She is also our farmer and official fried chicken and potato salad girl. Cross her at your peril!
I’m the dog trainer, fundamentalist, young earth creationist.
I’m leaving a few people out, that actually walk the walk, and I apologize. We have quite a diverse bunch of citizens here and a few whiners.
“ProudMan” asserts –
“Dear Presidential Candidate,

Okay. So tell me who John WMD McCain’s “spiritual advisor is. Who is Hillary’s? Who is Shrub’s?
Why does such a question seem to matter only when the candidate and pastor are African American?

“The question” as you put it, probably matters with every candidate.
However, in the case of Obama, his political career would never have gotten off the ground, in the first place, if not for Rev. Wright and his church.
Obama and Wright were joined at the hip.
Wright’s church is heavily involved in political matters and was a huge help to Obama.

“Franklin” is forced to admit –
“The question” as you put it, probably matters with every candidate.”
So why aren’t you asking it?
Why aren’t you answering it?
Just who is John Sidney McCain the Third’s spiritual adviser?
Where does he worship? Who does he worship with? What are McCain’s theological beliefs?
Just where has McCain spent his Sunday mornings in a pew next to his (his word) trollep of a second wife?
Is it the same church he attended while he was cheating on his first wife?
How does McBush’s religion deal with issues such as adultery and divorce?
Paul and his ilk’s views can be summed up like this, “Them uppitty Black folk need to know their place and shut up.”
Have a mint julip Paul.
Regular I just learn the best reason not to vote for Obama, HE EAT JELL-O MOLD! I could never vote for someone that eats Yell-o mold! I hate Jell-o mold he really is an elitist! But as to voting present in the Senate, well there goes most of the Kansas delegation!
“How about not voting for a Senator who has the most Liberal voting record in the Senate as a reason not voting for Obama.”
Why is Bernie Sanders voting record any reason not to vote for Obama?
Maggotpunk that is not even close to being fair, Paul is not a racist he is a partisan! If it is Democratic he hate it. irregardless of color, gender or religious affiliation. You can damn him for being too partisan and blinded by his partisanship. BUT make no mistake or claim, it is not Obama’s color that he stands against.
If Obama was the Republican nominee you would see him defending him to the end. Even as Partisan as he is, to his credit he does admit when he agrees with something even if it comes from a Democrat! He just does not agree that often…
No WD, it’s completely fair. Wright says something about how it’s wrong for America to slaughter innocent people and Paul calls it hateful and racist. Hagee says that God wants gays killed, that God damned America by destroying parts of it with a Katrina killing thousands, and wants America to bomb innocent people in Iran, and those comments are acceptable.
What’s the difference? Their skin color. And how does Wright’s views affect Obama? Because they have the same skin color. That’s the only connection.
I think Monkeyhawk has a point.
At first, I considered the “Wright issue” worth a look, for a simple reason: I wanted to know what influence he was having on Obama, to see if he held any particularly nutty metaphysical beliefs (beyond–sorry people–believing in a imaginary all-powerful creature!
).
I found his initial response quite adequate, indeed eloquent.
Now that Wright is continuing to embarrass him and drive down his polls numbers, he threw down the gauntlet. Had had to. Do “all Americans” disagree with Wright? Of course not. Hell, while I wouldn’t call our soldiers terrorists, the fact is that U.S. policy has resulted in actions often indistinguishable from terrorism–and deliberately so. As for other things: Well, the Million Man March was cool, but Farrakan is still a racist, anti-Semitic nutjob.
But at this point he will probably have to show up before the cameras bearing the man’s severed head before it ceases to be an issue. There is a seven-degree-of-Kevin-Bacon to this whole campaign, unfortunately (I’m including criticisms of Hillary): Obama’s God guy likes Farrakhan, therefore Obama likes Farrakhan. A prominent Hillary supporter makes a statement that could be viewed as racist, therefore Hillary is a racist.
I can think of other examples.
From my perspective, Wright hasn’t gotten any nuttier, and Obama hasn’t gotten any less sane. The fact that Wright chose to emphazize the very issues that caused problems for Obama in the first place shows the man is in a star trip, and perhaps getting even for being publicly dissed in the first place.
I attack liberals.
I have said harsh things about:
Clinton
Clinton
Gore
Kerry
None are Black.
It WOULD be racist if I treated Obama any differently than the way I treat other liberals.
P.S. Since pastors are fair game, let’s do it. Who is McCain’s spiritual advisor?
Paul, the inventor of the, “Some of the people I attack most are White” excuse to why he’s not a racist.
Maggot
My girlfriend has Black nieces and a Black nephew.
They call me “pops” because that is what my girlfriends daughter calls me.
Screw you!
I do not suffer from “White Guilt” — as I know that I have done nothing to feel guilty about.
In fact, I have done far more to fight racism than the majority of people on this planet.
Well I’ll let Paul defend himself, but as I said for Paul it is about party and not color. Hagee is Mc Cain’s the Republicans curse. While Wright is Obama’s curse the Democrat. How does that matter? I think Paul said he is Catholic? After the flap over Hagree’s statement about Catholics what else could cause him to give a pass and even than I am not sure he did give Hagree a past.

The Wright video is on page two - it is called something like “How to Sabotage a Presidential Campaign”.
In defense of his AIDS statement Wright says that after Tuskegee, he thought the U.S. government could do anything to black people. One can’t reasonably deny that that event was a low point for our government.
My parents are my proxies for a sub-set of voters. They were big time Obama supporters. The Wright deal has changed that for them. It is really too bad, I think.
I was actually leaning more toward Obama when he was not willing to abandon Wright [the first racism speech]. I am troubled by his latest dodges.
Wright is enjoying his 15 minutes of fame someone was saying this a.m. I believe that is correct.
“With your preoccupation with Obama’s race and how that is why he is now seemingly doomed.”
My hope for the future is gone. My belief in America is gone. My believe in the Democrat Party is gone. My believe in the fundamental goodness of Americans is gone.
I no longer care.
Belief - Believe
Who gives a damn?
Who gives a damn?
I do. It’s ain’t over ’til it’s over, man. And you don’t think we won’t see this shit in the general election?
Even Obama’s fiercest detractors have to admit that he can take a punch, and come back stronger.
Steven, what exactly did you expect the man to do?
Ask your parents the same question.
Thanks for the vote of confidence, Hank.
A correction, though. I don’t consider myself a darwinist. I think the theory of evolution is a useful theory which has had excellent explanatory power for the last 150 years. The hundreds of experiments that have been conducted on the various aspects of the theory, have upheld its basic tennets. The preceding are just facts, not points for debate.
Thanks, again.
“And you don’t think we won’t see this shit in the general election?”
This has been fixed - the Clintons and the McCains have made sure that this will be an all white campaign. Any respect that I had for Bill Clinton is gone. I am sorry that I defended the man during impeachment and all his lies and distortion.
For the first time in my life - all fifty six years - I am sorry that I am a Democrat.
Screw the Republicans.
Screw the Democrats.
We all know that Obama has been Swiftboated and he has no chance.
And Hillary is damned proud of that - Bill is even more proud - Chelsea is ecstatic.
I don’t give a damn any longer.
I will not vote for McCain.
I will not vote for Hillary.
I will pass on this election - at least for president - for the first time in my life.
I am damned sorry that I am a Democrat.
Rage,
What impressed me about Obama when he said he could not abandon Wright was that it seemed to me that he was not afraid to stand up for what he believed in. He is looking like a politician now - “I will tell you what you want to hear”. I understand how one could see that Wright backed him into a corner. That, however, does not take away from the fact that, if you think about it, Wright’s perspective is pretty understandable.
Let’s say that the government in the recent history of this country said it was okay to do medical experiments on current or former Wichitans whereby they could die from the experiment. Do you think you and I might not be a little resentful?
There are southern states making apologies for slavery, but the federal government will not do so. Has there been a policy in our history more deserving of an official apology than slavery? I suspect the reason it won’t happen is the “R” word - reperations. There are several U.S. banks that have records of their Slave financial interests. In some cases calculating money owed would be easy and it would wreck some powerful monied interests in this country - which is why it won’t happen.
I don’t blame Wright for being bitter and angry. I think I might be, too, if I had lived his experience.
My parents are blue collar democrats in their 70’s. The whole race thing is different for them and I suspect that their distate for the whole story might not be a whole lot different from what Paul provided us above.
White America has paid “reparations” — the Civil War was the worst war in our history, and should be reparation, enough.
“Irish need not apply” was what some of my ancestors faced.
Have you seen the movie “Gangs of New York”? The rich Protestant New Yorkers paid their way out of the draft. The poor Irish getting off the boats? What, exactly, is the difference between a forced military draft and slavery?
Not much, really, if you think about it!
Slavery exists in the world, today. What have Obama and his pastor done to fight current, existing slavery?
The race issue is about current political power, and those who seek power.
The race issue is no longer about justice.
I had high hopes that Obama would help to put the race issue behind us.
He has not.
That is HIS failure, not mine.
Ode to Obama’s pastor
The Rev Wright believes it seems
That AIDS is a but racist scheme
And our country deals in terror
That Farrakahn is quite the bomb
And the press they mock his prayer
Now Barack decides he might
Cause to harm his primary fight
Action taken, avoid the fuss
Goes the Rev beneath the bus
outlander
By the way, the Reverend Wright has NOTHING to be bitter about.
Teh Reverend Wright has had a much more comfortable life than the vast majority of Americans.
Damn WSClark………………………isn’t that attiude a bit harsh?
Are you ready for four more years of McSame?
I retract what I said earlier about “Rev” Wright…he’s certifiably insane.
My theory is that Hill’s camp has paid him to sabotage Obama’s chances for the nomination.
I’m glad Obama turned his back on him…he tried to stay loyal, but Wright doesn’t deserve that, his grandstanding and narcissism is showing through loud and clear.
Wright WANTS Obama to fail..is that what you all really want to?
“I had high hopes that Obama would help to put the race issue behind us.” [Franklin]
It’s pretty hard to do that, when the Media, and Talk show hosts (Like Limbaugh and his stupid drivel song “Barack the Magic Negro”), and yes, even Dr. Wright, wont LET him put the race issue behind us…. Just listen to what Obama SAYS about our country, our hopes, our dreams, and our future…. Forget that he is black!!
It really isnt hard to do!!
“My theory is that Hill’s camp has paid him to sabotage Obama’s chances for the nomination.”
Oh good lord Mary not you too!
Come on.
The right says all the time how formidable the “Clinton war machine” is. But it was not Senator Clinton brought this out. Indeed, she initially refused to even comment on it. She could only do that for so long.
And she ALSO has said that whoever the nominee is, the other candidates voters should not vote for McCain out of anger. When did Obama ever say anything like that.
Listen. I sat there and listened as Wright made those remarks with my jaw on the floor. I don’t now how or precisely why he chose to do that. But it made me astonished and angry too.
There COULD be more reasons than age, why Rev. Wright retired from Trinity Church… ya know?? Just saying…
Project Chaos is creeping ahead slowly as planned…
(chortles)
“This has been fixed -”
Uh huh.
For more than a year. 20 some debates. All that goes into a campaign. More than a dozen opponents on BOTH sides eliminated. MILLIONS of dollars spent dragging it all out.
To drop the axe this late in the game.
You are torqued at the whole damn world.
And it’s all the fault of one man who was SUPPOSED to be Obama’s friend.
Ya know I wonder?
If Senator Clinton is the nominee, she will likely win. Obama too.
But if it be Clinton?
Will his own dittoheads lynch frog mouth Limbaugh?
“Slavery exists in the world, today. What have Obama and his pastor done to fight current, existing slavery?”
Wright and Farakhan have worked on anti-poverty issues in America. Wright has gone to Cuba to work with fellow Christians. Of course I don’t need to remind you what he did in Libya although you seem to have a problem with that. He worked against apartheid in South Africa while your boy Cheney voted to maintain apartheid.
Of course that all pales in comparison to what you have done.
From all that Limbaugh has been spouting lately, He had better start making interest payments, on his “talent on loan from God.” LOL
Nah, J R.
They’ll never lynch Rush Limbaugh.
Who else will tell them that they are rich and successful, even though they’re not and he is by lying to them?
It’s like a abusive husband and his enabling victim. He just has to hit her and she knows she “deserves” it.
ReguLiar “never listens to Rush Limbaugh” except he knows all about what Limbaugh’s doing.
Kinda like being married and never have been married, I guess . . .
The media wasn’t quite as concentrated as when I held my nose and helped install Clinton in ‘92.
Before anyone pounces on this, this was the reverse of what I meant to convey. Media concentration = worse.
Sorry.
After denouncing his pastor, Obama has plans to do the followinig:
1) He will join the NRA. He’ll tell a story about his hunting days in Chicago when he bagged 3 Snipe in one day! He’ll declare that he now supports Concealed Carry and is against Gun Bans, Gun Registration, and Gun Owner Licensing.
2) He will join the KKK, as invited by Dem Senator Byrd.
3) He will annouce that he is now for the war in Iraq, and that he will declare a Holy War on Muslims.
4) He will declare that he is now Jewish.
5) He will promise to make the tax cuts permanent and still balance the budget by cutting spending.
6) He will visit Michael Jackson’s doctor and turn himself white.
7) He will declare that he himself is bi-sexual, and that he’ll form a special Gay Coalition in Congress.
9) He will denouce terrorists and state that he will never meet with terrorist leaders.
10)He will promise to vote Present, on every bill that crosses his desk.

Someone should tell Rev. Jeremiah Wright, if he wants to prove government-sponsored genocide against the black race, he should come to Kansas and look and the widespread conspiracy in the judicial and executive branches of state government to cover up abortion mill crimes, where one third of the babies killed by racist, criminal abortionist quacks are black.
Then there are the condoms with a known significant failure rate being pushed at black schoolchildren by Planned Parenthood, resulting in over 48% of black schoolgirls being infected with venereal diseases. Some of these girls are going to die within a few years from AIDS or cervical cancer.
This is all likely part of Planned Parenthood’s decades-old human weeding program.
What the hell Troy Newman? Are you saying that Planned Parenthood gives different condoms to blacks, or no condoms to whites? And guess what, the STD rate is going up for EVERYONE because of your stupid abstinence only programs which do not work.
Idiot. Only you would think kids having babies and staying poor is a good thing. Guess what? Poverty kills too.

Why is the Rev. getting so much press time? How many other candidates speakers were asked to speak to the press gathering?
At the very least McCains REvs. should have been invited too.
I have promised my friends among the Obama supporters not to overplay this.
I say again that I feel Obama has handled his…crazy former pastor in the best and fairest way.
But there is a matter of Obama’s honesty and credibility.
I do not know how often he attended this church.
It is a stretch to believe that Obama was in that church for 20 years and did not know of Wrights rather strongly and eagerly voiced beliefs.
“White America has paid ‘reparations’”
They have not. My original comments are “awaiting review” - so that gives one an idea, how ludicrus I think Paul’s lying crap is.
We are so dumb. This had to be a setup. It would make total sense to me that Obama would go to Wright and tell him to say something so outrageous that he’d have to distance himself from him.
But Obama’s political opponents won’t be so willing to cut those ties.
Just read through the above posts for proof of that.
If that’s all ya got, guys, ya ain’t got much. But, please, keep repeating it. You only hurt yourself…and your party.

Pmom, if we are speak of people being dumb, I regard the Clinton/McCain collusion accusations as being implausible but certainly not entirely impossible.
I regard your hunch in exactly the same way.
They’re both dumb.
“Monkeyhawk”
Man up a little. If you want to know about the spiritual mentors of the other major candidates go do a little research.
Perhaps you will fulfill the dream of the anti-religious lefties and show how all pastors are nutjobs. . . Or perhaps you will find a more likely truth in that Wright is a far-left racist nutjob.
Those who think that Obama abandoned his principles in the latest thing he said about Wright missed the most important dynamic in what Wright has been saying in his media blitz tour. Namely, he said that Obama’s denunciation of his REMARKS were simple politics. Never mind the fact that Obama’s denunciation of Wright’s remarks has been very consistent with the message that Obama has been saying all along.
Wright got personal to defend himself. Wright basically backhanded Obama, and Obama responded in kind.
I have said it before, after watching the extended version of the sermons, what Wright said was not that extreme or out of line. Put in context it was no more then the majority of preachers have been saying.
“God damn America!” unless it changes its ways! ( it seems people do not see that tail)
“The Chickens have come home to roost” an example of what many were saying as to the cause of 9-11.
But the Wright went on to say that we should be turning to God in such situations.
I have not actually seen or read exactly where the Aids comment or the US of KKKA comes from.
But would not be surprised after watching the other two’s sources to find they too would have been in context. As to the Aids though, if he was speaking metaphorically he is correct! Aids in the beginning was a Gay and minority illness. There for it was not of a concern to the establishment as a whole… The Government did not give a damn! In that since it was not doing anything about it is was in effect using it.
The “scrooge ideology”… Ridding of the surplus population, hate Gays do nothing about Aids! Hate Blacks do nothing about Aids!
The Nazi Doctor Jose Magalia experiments on the Jews though he discovered many breakthroughs. It was said that because his discoveries and breakthrough were the results of such amoral and inhuman processes. They would not be used and were locked away or destroyed.
Yet Tuskegee was just as amoral and inhuman, so how much further would it be to think that Aids was at the least could have been used with intent.
Now I do agree that Wright is a walking nightmare for the Obama campaign, up to the press club Wright was doing what he was entitled to do. Defend himself , his church and people. He had been wronged and only through Political eyes could that not be seen. But he had also painted himself into a corner, the same corner that Fox Locally painted himself into and nationally Roberts and the like have. When you wrap your personal agenda in the cloak of the Lord’s word. You can not back down and say you were wrong, because that would be saying that God was wrong. All you can do it make it worst!
Never mind the fact that Obama’s denunciation of Wright’s remarks has been very consistent with the message that Obama has been saying all along.
Agree or disagree with that message, this does seem to be the one point that gets lost in the sauce.

Seems Obama took money, lots of money, both personal and campaign money, from a company that Obama helped to get a government grant!
Obama linked to funding Terrorists
A top official at the Pentagon during former-President George H. W. Bush’s Administration and a former CIA intelligence officer maintain that Barack Obama and former Weather Underground honcho William Ayers funneled money to Professor Rashid Khalidi, a known terrorist sympathizer.

Obama and his terrorist connections
Khalidi has been accused of having ties to the Palestinian Liberation Organization, based on his work for Wafa in the late 1980s. Khalidi has been accused of being “a director of the Palestinian press agency,” publishing an “adulatory book” on the PLO in which he personally thanked Yasser Arafat,[16] and acting as an advisor to the Palestinian delegation during peace negotiations.
A reported friendship between Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and Khalidi’s family when Khalidi taught at the University of Chicago. Articles by Aaron Klein and John Bachelor, writers respectively for conservative outlets World Net Daily and Human Events, were referenced by rival political campaigns and reprinted in wider-circulation media.
In Chicago in 1995, Mr. Khalidi and his wife Mona founded the Arab American Action Network (AAAN), a group associated with confrontational statements of support for Palestinians and antagonism toward Israel. In 2001 and again in 2002, the Woods Fund of Chicago, with directors Ayers and Obama, made grants of $40,000 and $35,000 to the AAAN. Importantly, the AAAN vice-president Ali Abunimah of Electronic Intifada has remembered Mr. Obama’s speaking in 1999 against “Israeli occupation” at a charity event for a West Bank refugee camp; and Mr. Abunimah, an American citizen, Hyde Park resident and Princeton graduate, has also recalled Mr. and Mrs. Obama at a fundraiser held for the then-Congressional candidate Obama in 2000 at Rashid and Mona Khalidi’s home, where Mr. Obama made convincing statements in support of the Palestinian cause.
There is also a report that Mr. Obama attended a farewell dinner for Professor Khalidi on the latter’s appointment to Columbia University and move to New York, at which Mr.
Obama socialized with the Khalidis as well as with Edward Saïd, and at which Mr. Obama left a polite testimonial, as did Mayor Daley and Governor Blagojevich.
It is necessary to consider, in light of Mr. Obama’s politically rich relationship with Mr. Khalidi and his colleagues, that Palestinian sources in Ramallah confirm, for Aaron
Klein of WorldNetDaily.com and my radio shows on WABC and KFI, that Rashid Khalidi was a paycheck-receiving PLO agent when it was formally named as a terrorist organization. In Beirut from 1976 to 1982, Mr. Khalidi headed the Palestinian press agency WAFA, for which his wife Mona Khalidi also worked. Mr. Khalidi also served Yasser Arafat’s PLO at the Madrid conference in 1991. Mr. and Mrs. Khalidi have yet to comment on their reported political, financial and programmatic association with Mr. Obama in Chicago; as recently as last week neither of the Khalidis would speak on the telephone when asked about Mr. Obama, Mr. Rezko or Mr. Auchi.(Batchelor)

Obama Is Throwing Wright Under the Bus
April 30, 2008 02:09 PM ET | Michael Barone
or
Who else will Obama have to throw under the Bus? His PLO connections?
On Monday, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright spoke at the National Press Club in Washington, with nationwide reverberations. On Tuesday, Barack Obama denounced Wright and his statements. Judging from the talk I’ve been hearing from Democratic insiders since Wright’s Monday speech, Obama did what he had to do. But the problem remains. Obama has now taken two positions on Wright. March 13: No, I cannot disown him. April 29: Yes, I can. Left still unanswered is the question: How can the man we heard deliver that speech in July 2004 about what unites us—in which his strongest line was “in the blue states we worship an awesome God”—how could that Barack Obama have attended the church of that Rev. Jeremiah Wright for 20 years? And not just attended: He and his wife contributed more than $20,000 to the church. It just doesn’t add up. It undercuts Obama’s very appealing theme of bridging divisions in our society.
In 2000, Al Gore won 67 percent of the vote in Broward County and 62 percent in Palm Beach County—both have large Jewish populations. In this year’s Florida primary, Obama lost those counties to Clinton by 57 percent to 33 percent and 61 percent to 27 percent. No Democrat can carry Florida without big margins in Broward and Palm Beach.
Note: Obama’s connection to known terrorists funders like Rashid Khalidi, critic of Israel and advocate for Palestinian rights and Obama’s friend, will kill his chance for the Presidency. Obama has sided with the PLO and against Israel, that’s a three strike law in Florida.
Obvious lesson: No Democrat can carry Florida without large popular-vote margins in Broward and Palm Beach counties. Or even come close. There’s just no other county in Florida where a Democrat can win by anything like such a large margin. And without overwhelming support from Jewish voters, no Democrat can win big popular-vote margins in Broward and Palm Beach.

FIRST question from Billo to Senator Clinton was about pastor Wright.
Senator Clinton spent less than 2 minutes on it. And she was very fair.
She then put Billo on his heels with every question he threw at her!

It is a victory, a BIG victory, for conservatives, that Obama and the Clintons are talking to Fox News at all!
I can remember when the MoveOn.NUTS would not let your candidates talk to Fox.
Now, Fox has not changed, and —
YOUR candidates HAVE CHANGED THEIR MINDS!
Paul - PROVE your claim that moveon would prevent someone from going on FAUX. I call BS. Lets see the proof Rossell.
Victory?
What victory?
It’s the beginning of sweeps and O’Reilly went bullying.
He IS your leading blowhard.
Senator Clinton bested him easily.
It is at the very most an acknowledgement that Fox “news” exists.
Fox “news” is not generally known among those with an IQ above wool.
Really? I thought the term “Love fest” best described the Hillary interview on O’Reilly.
Ben
Again I prove you wrong:

I really suggest, Ben, that you do a little search-engine research before you try “calling me out” on anything again.
You have made yourself look silly, that way, many times now!
“The groups have successfully pressured Democratic presidential candidates not to appear at any debate sponsored by FOX, and are also trying to get Home Depot Inc. to stop advertising there.”
Paul - your buddies at FAUX provide no evidence to support their claims. All we have is their claim; nothing more.
For Heaven’s sake Ben, all you — or anyone else for that matter — need to do is type “Democrats Cancel Fox Debate” into your browser:
http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSN0918742820070310
Reuters says that MoveOn.org had a Fox Boycott campaign.
If you don’t have Long Term Care insurance yet, Ben, you need to buy it now, before you are diagnosed. This was a HUGE issue only a few months ago, and you have forgotten already!
Your memory is failing you.
