The latest pop culture comparison of the Democratic presidential candidates is that Barack Obama is a Mac and Hillary Clinton is a PC. It started out as a style comparison, with Doug Kendall writing in the Huffington Post how Obama is young, hip and inspiring, while Clinton is “like that old-reliable PC that we keep on our desks.†But the New York Times reported that the analogy also works with the candidate’s Web sites. Obama’s Web site is much cooler and more harmonious than Clinton’s site.
While the comparison isn’t flattering, Clinton can take comfort in that PC far outsells Mac. As the Times noted, “PC, no doubt, would win the Electoral College by historic proportions (with Mac perhaps carrying Vermont).â€

You know what, my kid has a mac, and I don’t find them to be all that at all. I’ll stick with PC thank you very much. And Hillary too.
Besides, PC is the one who has created everything that Mac simply tries to re-create.
Sound familiar?
Why did it take so long? Finally a pop culture reference that we can all understand! OK now we can stop all this campaigning, simply vote with the computer that is setting in front of you! Now the question is, if Hillary is a P.C. and Obama is a Mac. Mc Cain is so old does that make him a Commodore 64? An Alistair?
I know a Pencil and a piece of paper!
For what it is worth?
Rush Limbaugh is also a Mac user.
Oh, Christ, what next? How about Hillary is nutmeg, Obama is cinnamon? Obama is from Mars, Hillary is from Venus? Can we get any sillier?
By the way, pmom, no reflection on your candidate, but this statement is factually wrong:
Besides, PC is the one who has created everything that Mac simply tries to re-create.
I usually use a PC myself because it’s the 800-pound gorilla in the room: software is more readily available, it’s a hassle to change over, and I’m simply more familiar with the platform. But the fact is that much of what was in earlier Macs ended up in the PC platform, and rarely the reverse.
And, then, of course there’s Vista. . .
As one more person that thinks Mac’s are over-rated, I totally agree with Phillip’s assessment.
LOL
Windows can be run on your Mac if you’re stuck in that operating system. And, anyone can pick up their iMac and keyboard and tuck them under their arm and off you go — all components in a slim frame. The best of both.
Could we still have what some have called a “dream ticket?”
I’m just wondering. . .
When I was in the Navy, I qualified on submarines. Therefore, I was qualified to wear ‘dolphins’.
When you serve on a submarine, or any place else in the Navy for that matter, you would not ever wear the dolphin insignia in any way, belt buckle, embroidered on a hat or jacket, stenciled on a T-shirt or tattooed on your butt, if you hadn’t earned them. If you hadn’t BTDT.
Now, all that being said, I’m I the only one a little put off by the Obamaman wearing a USMC T-shirt for his Hoosier Hoops photo op?
Just wonderin’
Could be worse, Mr. Price, he could wear a flight suit, land on the deck of a carrier thirty miles out at sea and declare “Mission Acomplished.”
Dad,
The T-shirt is not a big deal unless it was a T-shirt that has specifics on it.
We give those things away to friends and family all the time.
Good comeback WS. That was just beautiful.
Well Mr. Clark,
Couple of problems with your ‘Good comeback’.
First of all, GWB has BTDT. He was a fighter pilot in the National Guard. He looks quite comfortable in his flight suit.
Second, no matter how you want to look at it the ‘Mission Accomplished’ banner was appropriate. The ‘mission’ of the aircraft carrier (the mission referred to by the banner) was in fact accomplished.
If you wish to try and mis-represent the meaning of the banner and attach it to the war, even then it is accurate. By the time the carrier returned home we had won the war.
I never cease to be amazed at how little the libs have. They have to cling to a lie and repeat it often enough so that the kool-aid drinkers like Clark and P-Mom actually begin to believe it.
Obama is your perfect candidate. Unlike Hillary he is not a liar. He is the lie! Cling to him. He’s going to be all you got after June!
“By the time the carrier returned home we had won the war.”
Jeez, then why have about 4,000 American service men and women died since then?
“The ‘mission’ of the aircraft carrier (the mission referred to by the banner) was in fact accomplished.”
So ships returning to home port normally fly a banner stating “Mission Accomplished?” If so, then I would like to see more photos of ships with similar banners – if not, then your point is not accurate.
“He looks quite comfortable in his flight suit.”
I was a pretty good football player in Junior High School, but you won’t find me dressing up like a linebacker.
“They have to cling to a lie and repeat it often enough so that the kool-aid drinkers like Clark and P-Mom actually begin to believe it.”
What lie? Bush said that “major combat operations were over and the (coalition) had prevailed in the (war.)
He was wrong.
Gotta big laugh thanks to HLP. First we get a story about how you can’t wear a dinky dolphin insignia in the USN if you haven’t served on a sub. Seems yall were really, really strict about. THEN we get a “but it’s perfectly accurate when Commander Codpiece, a former NATIONAL GUARD pilot, rumored to be AWOL late in his service, struts about in a NAVY flight suit on the deck of a USN carrier.”
Dophins bad (even if you’re in the USN), flightsuits good (even if you never served near the USN).
You guys kill me. You never seem to think about the consequences of your unconditional support of Bush. So yeah your dolphin? It sure seems pretty lame to me.
WS
Obama was NEVER in the Marines.
George W. Bush actually DID serve his country, and has earned the right to wear a flight suit.
“Obama was NEVER in the Marines.”
Never said he was bonehead – try reading instead of being an asshole, Rossell.
As for Bush, he was in the TANG – a position his Daddy got him so that he could avoid ‘Nam. Everyone that was of age in the late Sixties KNEW that NG service was for the connected and was a ticket to get out of service in ‘Nam.
Grown men don’t dress up and play fighter pilot.
During the Viet Nam Era, 97 National Guard members were killed in SE Asia – that amounts to .167 percent of the 58,193 total that were killed.
George W Bush had less than a 0.2 percent chance of being killed in ‘Nam when he “volunteered” to serve his country in the TANG in 1968.
If George was so damned interested in serving his country, he could have volunteered for active duty service in one of the branches of the military that actually saw duty in ‘Nam.
You know, like Kerry and Gore.
Put your ass on the line in active duty instead of putting your ass on a barstool.
BTW – Obama may be a Mac, Hillary a PC. OK.
But McCain’s a Cylon:
