Well, for starters, Louisiana governors are elected in non-partisan elections. Bobby Jindal won a four-way race.

Remember how Barbara Bush emoted at how much those New Orleans refugees were enjoying their exile to the AstroDome?

And the best location is New Orleans. Start by relocating all the Bush political appointees. Move them by the hundreds; it would help improve home values, the quality of public education and pump millions into the local economy.

Involve Tulane, UNO, Xavier and the LSU system. Bring in experts from around the nation for teaching, research and training.

McCain is pandering here.

NO President will ever have the authority to order state and local officials to do THEIR jobs. The locals did a horrible job, in New Orleans.

FEMA teaches local officials, in their own training classes, not to even expect Federal help until several days after a disaster hits.

New Orleans during Katrina just shows what damage Socialism does, when an entire population of people have horrible local leadership and depend far too much on the government.

Here’s his “answer” when asked what to do about the ongoing disaster of ethnically cleansed New Orleans:

“He also told reporters he was not sure if he would rebuild the lower 9th ward as president. “That is why we need to go back is to have a conversation about what to do -rebuild it, tear it down, you know, whatever it is,” he said.”

And then, of course, there’s the matter of what he WAS doing the day Katrina hit–the day he says “never again” will happen under a McCain Presidency. Oh, wait–right: he was receiving a birthday cake from George Bush on an airport landing strip in Phoenix.

Indeed. You would think that he is running for president of something. Making promises that he can’t keep.

Don’t worry my little minyons, the federal government under my control will protect you from the next citywide flood from a Cat 3 hurricane. That way, your inept local leaders can procede with their vacation schedule.

I can tell you although the response from government at all levels was poorly handled, the planning and design of New Orleans response plan was disgraceful.

Anyone wanting to debate this is more than welcome. I do have an advantage, I’ve been trained and educated to make such evaluations.

McCain apparently hasn’t heard: the disgraceful response was the fault of the democratic mayor of New Orleans and the democratic LA governor. He needs to keep up!
