If you are having problems posting . . .

Several bloggers have had trouble posting comments after they registered. Here are instructions our online people have given for a common problem:
If you will log out, then log in again, this will reset your user cookie and the comment form should then work correctly. Once you’re logged back in, the grayed-out boxes should be prefilled with your user name and e-mail address.
If you have continued problems, contact Nick Jungman at njungman@wichitaeagle.com.

You know I was thinking it might make the whole spambot thing easier if we were required to sign in DAILY. I know it sucks, but if it works.

    Good idea, P_Mom.

Also, are user names getting pulled? I keep seeing the spam sites coming up over and over.

Registration has no effect if the editors don’t cull the bad ones out.

The sock puppet parade seems to have lessened.

We still have blogmonitor (Regular) but other than him, it’s been a lot less chaotic.

    I’m not blogmonitor either Crapn.

Don’t you ever get tired of being lame and wrong?

Look like the spam is showing up exclusively on the Trackbacks. Reg was actually right about that: turn off trackbacks, and that makes their job a lot harder.

I’ll make myself look as ill informed as I really am by asking — what are trackbacks?

Would turning them off reduce the number of “hits?” We know how important those hits are and it seems they are fewer since registration began so they sure wouldn’t want to do something to further reduce them.
