Actually, no longer: the NYT has STOPPED charging for the content on its site. Which is good because, I can’t see paying for a zombie like Bill Kristol to get to Paul Krugman.

How exactly did you liberals ask the editors?

Did any of you go there in person to set up a meeting and talk to them in person?

Perhaps the seriousness of the request is weighed for the seriousness of the response?

Better yet, why don’t you contact the editors now and ask them why this time they did do something and not when you asked, then you could stop whining and figure out the truth. Unless you are just wanting to whine.

For the record, CF2K wrote to Philip last late-Summer / early-Fall with a similar request, but was politely declined. That was their decision and I honored it. However, one suspects that the intervening months of blog antics may have had as much to do with the Editors’ more recent receptivity to Hank Price’s suggestion as did his having scheduled a face to face meeting with them.

The editors are busy folks, and I didn’t want to waste their time. But I guess there’s an object lesson here, squeaky wheel etc, that one would be foolish to ignore.

My advice for this is simple: get a free, unimportant email address, and use that. I already get tons o’ spam @ my public address (particularly after I posted it here), but that’s okay. My primary account is nearly spam-free: 3 spam mails in a month (which can be easily traced back to one merchant I’ll never trust again!).
