Russia shocker — Medvedev wins!

medvedevputing.jpgThe outcome of Russia’s election Sunday wasn’t exactly a surprise: Official Kremlin candidate Dmitry Medvedev, Vladimir Putin’s handpicked successor, won a landslide victory in an election marred by ballot stuffing, suppression of votes and harassment of serious opposition candidates.
This is what a sham election looks like. And sadly enough, most Russians don’t seem to care.
Now America is laying the groundwork for working with the 42-year-old lawyer, who is largely an unknown quantity and is widely seen as Putin’s man.
Meanwhile, Putin — now prime minister — has redefined his new position as the “highest executive office in the country.”
Who really will run Russia remains to be seen. But Putin, it’s safe to say, won big.

The real problem is Bush and Putin are soul mates. Remember when Bush said it would be so much easier if this was a monarchy? It all fits.

And in reality could this not also be said of American voters? The most disheartening statement about Elections, Candidates and our elected officials. Is what are you going to do, they are all criminals!”.
Apathy is an illness that has inflected American Politics.

Relations between the U.S. and Russia has been heating up along with the U.S. and China. Is it possible that we have taken the idea we are the last super power and therefore we rule the world. Too far? Thank you Mr. Neoconservatives!

Yes China has been spending more than their GNP on their military and military technology. Just who do you suppose they might have in mind as an opponent?

    Hey Pleefer,

I thought Ralph Nader was the spoiler and kept the democrats from winning in 2000.

    Don’t you think?

Phantom, I see it two folded one is that China having suckled on the tits of Capitalism does not want to be relegated to the dust bin of “just an other” status. There for they are upgrading their military with money they had not had before. But being still Communists they have the mentality that if they become strong enough that no one can deny them what they want. But second for the foreseeable future I think they will rather take the lesson from Japan and you can conquer the world through Capitalist means and have the world surrender at your door step.

Japan’s economy has been in a massive slump for the past decade. And inflation is starting to chomp on China. Granted, it is good to be king, but it is a pretty exhausting gig and you gotta keep an eye on things.
