According to the Times, Vermont Republics have decided that proposing 4 more years of Augustus Stupidus is a better way to lose the general than proposing Armageddon. By a pretty fur piece, too.
Don’t really see a lot of difference there, myself. :-?
Pop the Corks! It’s 100 year (old?)war, EADS McCain, representing the Republicans. But, I guess we already knew that.
I was very impressed by the fact that the leading dem. in just about every state had more votes than the combined total of the republicans.
I do believe it’s more than repub. crossover to jimmy the outcome (they have no shame).
And the race goes on some more!! TX is still up in the air!! The whole race is still up in the air!! But, I doubt if ANY Republican can beat either Democrat candidate!!
I’m just curious since this is the first time in a lot of years that I’m not voting republican, does anyone have thoughts on what will happen if the Deomcratic contest goes to the Covention floor? Ithink it could it could split the party into 2 camps, which could help Mcain’s campaign
I think the party will unite, dems. are truly thrilled (except JR!) with our choices. The campaign may even become bit more civil so as to not prove too divisive. The die hard bushies will unite around McCain and it will matter not.
I’d rather see Hillary in the WH. But, will not be too disappointed if it’s Obama. If it’s McCain we’re all in trouble. The jury is still out on whether America is strong enough to withstand 8 yrs. of bush jr., another 4 would be fatal.
We’ll thank Rush and Coulter when we’re saying Madam President. It’s their awfulness along with Bush’s horrible policies that is allowing her to win you know.
Where ARE the Obama supporters? I didn’t leave when Hillary lost, I was upset, sure.
I don’t think it’s going to hurt us to play this out. I think people are finally figuring it out that Hillary has the experience we NEED. Obama once he started putting bits and pieces of his plan out there, everyone realized, oh oops.
That’s where experience comes into play. Obama will make a fabulous VP. But Hillary is what we need right now.
Frankly, JR and P-Mom, I don’t know how anyone can support Clinton at this point.
She leading because she’s running a cut-throat, negative campaign.
1. The “red-phone” ad is fear-mongering in the Karl Rove mold. She’s saying that Obama can’t be trusted. Sh!t, who needs ‘Pukes when you’ve got Zellary doing the “swift-boating” for you?
2. She said that “I have the experience to be President. Sen. McCain has the experience to be President. Barack Obama has words.”
Thanks, Senator Clinton, for endorsing the Republican candidate over the Democratic candidate.
3. Obama started his speech by congratulating Zellary on her wins in Ohio and Rhode Island. Zellary did not congratulate Obama on Vermont or for that matter last time when he swept several states.
4. The photo of Obama in a turban and Zellary’s hesitation to say that Obama is a Christian is more right-wing swift-boating.
5. The Hillary campaign’s planted lie that Obama really supports NAFTA has now been proven a lie. Oops, too late for Obama.
6. Hillary refuses to release papers from her time as first lady (thanks, Hillary Bush). She also will not release her tax returns.
7. Rush Limbaugh told Republicans in Texas to cross over and vote for Hillary. And they did.
I’m really saddened that Clinton can only win this way, and that Democratic supporters would celebrate Hillary pulling a Bush on a fellow Dem.
Fortunately, Obama doesn’t need to go all-Bush on Hillary’s ass because he’ll probably end up with the same number of delegates or even more by the time he wins the Texas caucuses.
Obama swept the gay community under the rug, in his own words, he doesn’t support gay marriage.
He also pulled a fast one tonight to keep some voting places open taht were heavily black. There was no legal standing to do it, so they made a dispute.
These ties to this landlord dude are disturbing. There’s a lot.
I think you know full well that Hillary is best, you sit here on this board and fight nasty with the republicans, but then expect Obama to just float on by. Get real WS.
If there is anything we’ve learned from Republicans, it’s how to lose a campaign by running a fair game.
Actually, no. We’ve been terribly hurt by 8 years of Worst. President. Ever. as you and I both agree.
And why?
Because Al Gore had to run AWAY from the Bill BJ Clinton disgrace. This is a man who was getting hounded every which way from Sunday by the right-wing political death squads, and he picked that moment to carry on a sleazy affair in the fricking Oval office.
Now, that’s a guy who puts party before his personal needs, eh?
OH geez Capn come ON. Hillary can still pull this off or she wouldn’t still be in the race. I believe she will do it, and we’ll be a stronger America for it. Obama can take his turn in the VP spot learning. Then when Hillary hands it over 8 years later, he’ll be ready.
I expected this kind of a campaign from the ‘Pukes, not from within my own party.
I’m starting to wonder why even bother working for Dems when our national leaders are so ambition they’ll do anything to win, the same as the ‘Pukes.
Two, you ask if I want to work with Republicans?
Of course, they’re Americans too. They deserve to be represented the same as I deserve to be represented.
Most Republicans are not bad people. They will work for the good of the country too if we finally get a leader who will lead instead of crush the opposition.
A Barack Obama only comes around once in a generation. Ambitious pols who want to run things are as common as dirt.
Of course, they’re Americans too. They deserve to be represented the same as I deserve to be represented.
Most Republicans are not bad people. They will work for the good of the country too if we finally get a leader who will lead instead of crush the opposition.
Oh I agree with you Capn that the balance of Republican voters are not evil.
But they ARE …….poorly thinking.
What does the right do to the left? What does management in this country do to the workers?
Where do you yourself know where it is we are headed?
The evil greedy want to crush everyone in their way. They post it here all the time.
If we offer to the country a general election campaign and candidate who will divide this country down the middle again, it is a prescription for losing the White House - again. The future of this country - indeed the future of this planet - may well depend on who wins the White House. I am convinced that we must have a candidate who can represent 55% - 60% of the country - the rest of the electorate you are right - we need not seek their vote. But we cannot win the White House if Democrats are going to run a campaign that treats Independents and Republicans as if they have no right to vote for our Democrat. This is one of the tendencies I’ve noticed in Democratic politics over four decades - once we win an election - even if it is not a victory that captures all chambers of Congress and the White House - then we start cloistering ourselves and acting like elitists. Now, I don’t believe this observation is cause to flee the Party in favor of Nader - that is just another prescription for defeat and disaster. But we need to take a hard look in the mirror. We can’t capture all branches of Congress and the White House by ourselves. And there are many good-hearted, freedom-loving, generous and compassionate Inds and Reps out there whom we do need to court in campaigns, and pledge to work with AFTER victory. Indeed, on many occasions they are members of our own family, like my son who is a Libertarian.
There is no doubt that Hillary’s win in Texas is largely due to cross over votes from the Republicans that were urged on by Limball, Coulter and others to vote for Hillary in Texas. Not because they like her but because the polls show she will be easier to beat in November. The question now becomes how many other primaries can the Republicans vote in.
Well, one thing’s for sure; next January were going to swear in a different kind of president than we ever have before. Our next president will be either a Black Man, a Woman or a Zombie! Whichever we get, our new president is going to inherit problems of a number and magnetude that this nation has never faced before. Whoever manages to get us out of this extra-deep Bush latrine is going to be the greatest President this country has ever had!
Twisty, according to WOAI Radio in San Antonio this morning, a LOT of Repubs did the cross over thing in TX yesterday… Why do the Dems let the Repubs dictate who wins their primaries like that?? The Dems beat them out of the Senate and the House, so THEY turn around and dictate to the Dems who their Nominee for President should be?? Maybe thats why the Dems have those super-delegates?? To off set the Repub cross over voters!! Yuck!!
For all of Clinton’s wins, she only gained 1-2 delegates. This means that she is still behind in the delegate count by 157-158. And with only approx. 600+ delegates left(1000 prior to yesterday), she didn’t do what she needed to.
Speaking of cross-over voters, this will really confuse the issue. I crossed over in Kansas. But I voted for Obama baby! I did so because Bill, I mean Hillary, will bring another Clinton Dynasty and I’m tired of Bush and Clinton. Those who profess that Hillary will be a return to the “good times” of the nineties are mistaken. It’s a different world we live in. The economy is different. But what Hillary is sure to represent: old time politic.
Regardless, I didn’t follow the republican dogma either: those that profess Mclame has a better chance of beating Hillary than Obama.
I wonder if there are/were crossovers like me too?
It looks like the Texas caucuses are going for Obama as expected. That means Hillary gets bragging rights but not much more than that in terms of delegates.
As far as J R’s concern about who will really fight for the disadvantaged, we have Obama’s background as proof. He was raised in a single-parent home and his mom was on food stamps for awhile. Contrast that with Hillary’s upper-middle class upbringing.
“A house divided against itself cannot stand.” A. Lincoln
For eight years, the ‘Pukes have run roughshod over people like me who want peace and prosperity for all–for their own personal gain.
Enough.
I don’t want to do what has been done to me. I want to treat them as I wish to be treated.
If that makes me “naive,” well, then as Portia says in The Merchant of Venice “I never did repent for doing good, nor shall I now . . . “
OMG, I’m laughing so hard I almost fell off the computer chair.
Would you Obama folks like a little CHEESE with that whine?
heheheheh.
So… when Hillary supporters noted the crossover repubs put Obama over the top in Kansas, we were whiners who were overreacting? And crossover votes were a GOOD thing to show Obama had crossover appeal?
And now? If there were lots of crossovers in Tx, it is a bad thing and we are letting the repubs rat bugger the primary?
Heheheheheheheheheh.
Ever heard the saying, “you cant have it both ways”?
Oh so discouraged, with just this little setback for the golden man, and you are still convinced he has the nomination all but locked up? Is this the Obama way? To fold like a cheap card table when the going gets tough?
THere is a reasons Hillary is using the word FIGHTER! She is one. And the real democrats WANT a fighter. Appeasement seems to be losing its appeal.
And you think the repubs are gonna play nice with him? If he cant stand up to Hillary, you think he can stand up to the Rs when the chips are down?
heheheheheheheh.
I didnt want to say anything earlier, since the Obamamaina folks have been SO damn nasty about Hillary and GLOATING over his every victory…
…but everyone I knew in Texas was voting for Hillary. EVERYONE.
Now, I know my pals are not all that representative of the gen pop of Texas, and Austin IS a little island of sanity in a crazy state, but…
Maybe my pals are not so out of the mainstream? Even my lovely African American ex said the ladies at the black hair dressing place were ALL voting for Hillary. They are tired of waiting their turn, and they think HILLARY will server them better than Obama. Really.
Hillary supporters, I’m proud of you for not being as mean and gloating as the Obama folks have been for the last month or so. She’s still got a looooong fight ahead to put her feet up on the White House kitchen table a la Ann Richards.
IF there is a house divided, it’s because the loser wont support the winner. If Hillary is nominated and then loses, the Obama folks prefered their sour grapes over victory.
If Obama is nominated and then loses, the Hillary folks will be guilty of not supporting him.
So.. the question is, who is big enough to get over a loss?
And even if Obama wins, he’s polling within the margin of error over mccain. Sorry to disappoint you kelly and monkey and others. We’re GOING to have a divided country no matter which candidates wins the dem nomination. Those 45-50 percenters who support mccain are NOT going to roll over for Obama. Or Hillary.
Get used to it, and quit throwing up false stuff to support your guy. Crossovers, divided country, etc. are ALL red herrings.
The question is which one is smart enough, tough enough and enough of a FIGHTER to win?
The difference is that the cross-over vote in most states has been FOR Obama. Which is good because people are voting for the candidate they believe is best.
The cross-over vote in Tejas was directed by Rush Limbaugh to hurt the Democratic party–to hinder the better candidate from getting the nomination so the ‘Pukes can win in November.
Yeah, well some of us think the “crossover” vote in Kansas was also promoted by the ksgop. Got any proof of either one? Didnt think so.
“When it comes to stopping Bush’s war for oil in Iraq, not so much”
Uh, my understanding is Obama’s voting record IN THE SENATE is identical to Hillary’s in terms of stopping the war.
Please point out where HE has voted to stop funding, stop the war, etc.
Otherwise? He votes like Hillary. Dont even TRY to pull that stuff on us. Like she said, he made a speech in 2002. Since then? His votes against the war have been, uh, not so much…
No one forced Obama to make loving statements about the Republican party.
He has not backed off of them. Indeed, he brags that Republicans support him. And he asks us to distance friends in the effort to reach enemies.
This is not a sad day. It’s a joyous one. The Democratic party process for determining a nominee is being played out more extensively than at any time in recent memory. And whatever nominee emerges will be well vetted for the experience.
Hillary wins Ohio and Texas
To know what this means, you don’t need “Lexis”
The Dems will continue to squabble and spend
While Repubs and others, McCain works to blend
So… I guess the answer to “how has Obama voted since he’s been IN the senate” would be…
Nothing different from Hillary?
Easy to make speeches from the outside. Harder to cast those votes on the inside.
I imagine Hillary will apologize for her vote about the time Obama apologizes for his McClurkin love fest?
I dont agree with the war either. Had Obama cast any votes DIFFERENT from Hillary, you might have a case. But since he ALSO followed the party line after he was elected… I guess I cant see any difference.
Other than him throwing me and mine under the bus to pander to the evangelicals in South Carolina.
Race card indeed.
That’s just like Obama, no? Play the war card, then back away. Play the race card, then back away. Play the gay card, well, you know the drill.
And I’m sure the Rezko trial this week is just an eeeeeevil Clinton plot to deny Obama the nomination.
These three (McCain, Hillary, Obama) are the best we can do? An over the hill geezer Bush lite who has principles, except when he needs the vote, A wench who has no core, and some guy who comes out of nowhere, with little experience, and promises little but change? How sad for our country. And yuo can pick on my characterizations all you want. My mind says its still early, best I could do. But then, I am not running for office.
Didn’t Obama state that if elected, he would immediately begin to withdraw troops from Iraq?
Bring them home?
Didn’t Hillary say she would keep forces there for the future at least until 2013? Didn’t she also promote permanent bases in the middle east and Iraq to “continue the fight on Al Queda?”
“I can only WISH my core were as sturdy as Hillary’s. She is one tough cookie. Just what we need.”
She is indeed one rough cookie. Hollow, but tough. She cares not one whit about anything but being elected. Of course, that puts her in line with most politicians. She would turn on you in a heartbeat ifit would ensure victory, I am convinced. Just another frigging politician.
“Well, one thing’s for sure; next January were going to swear in a different kind of president than we ever have before. Our next president will be either a Black Man, a Woman or a Zombie! Whichever we get, our new president is going to inherit problems of a number and magnetude that this nation has never faced before. Man, is that worth repeating. Thank you Jed!
This president has added three trillion dollars to the national debt - a greater amount than all former presidents combined. That includes only a portion of the real costs of Iraq (which will total 3 trillion dollars - when you include the lifelong - in some cases - of medical care our returning vets will require). But those costs in Iraq were well worth it, right? Riiiiighttttt…
As Jed points out, cleaning up this mess will not be pretty. I call on ANY candidate to tell us the truth about our economic situation - the crushing nature of our debt and the ever rising costs of deficit spending. If any do that, and NONE have so far, that person will get my vote.
We cannot pass this mess on to our children and grandchildren.
“I call on ANY candidate to tell us the truth about our economic situation - the crushing nature of our debt and the ever rising costs of deficit spending.”
Well, LJ, it is not usually a good tactic to say:
“I’ll raise your taxes, and cut popular entitlement programs” - that is not completely the politicos’ fault. We voters don’t want to face reality, either.
“I call on ANY candidate to tell us the truth about our economic situation - the crushing nature of our debt and the ever rising costs of deficit spending.”
http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1719614,00.html?cnn=yes
But the March 4 results have not changed Obama’s strongest talking point (and reality point) for why Clinton should exit the Democratic race: Math. It appears numerically impossible for her to overtake his lead among elected delegates.
Neither Obama nor Clinton can win the 2,025 delegates required for nomination without some combination of elected delegates (those chosen in primaries and caucuses) and superdelegates (party and elected officials who are automatic delegates to the Democrats’ Denver convention this summer). About 800 of the approximately 4,000 delegates are superdelegates and several hundred of them are still uncommitted to either candidate.
Given the remaining contests — many with electorates favorable to Obama — Obama’s existing hundred-plus delegate lead, and the rules by which Democrats apportion delegates, it is almost a political and mathematical certainty that Obama will have an elected delegate lead at the end of the process . . .
Steven Davis posted that Bush had added 3 trillion to the national debt. I responded with the 1.5 trillion Clinton added.
Percent of GDP is a game people play, to baffle people with their BS. It lessens the effect. It allows bragging rights where none exist.
The bottom line is that national debt our children, grandchildren, and greats will inherit and must pay back - increased 1.5 trillion dollars under WJ Clinton.
Just got back from Texas and a party/voting trip. Will report later if I have more time. 5 Buses, 311 people splitting up and doing the rounds in and near Dallas/Ft.Worth, over 2,900 votes cast - PRICELESS!
BOTTOM LINE:
The Rush campaign to get Hillary the wins in Ohio and Texas was successful!
It is more important now than ever (thanks to you) that the truth about WJ Clinton’s presidency be made known - and not allow even little white lies to flurish.
Hillary is running on Bill Clinton’s legacy. Fine.
But let’s make sure it is the truth.
Max, ya just cant project from BILL’s presidency, to a “not yet” presidency of Hillary!! They are two different people… AND, we have had 9/11 and 8 yrs of Bush between then and now… BIG differences….
“If she has no other experience then 7 years as a Senator, then her experience doesn’t qualify her to be POTUS.”
Your hero, Max, only had eight years experience as Governor of Texas prior to being installed as POTUS - and he had ZERO national or foreign policy experience.
Well, that is not completely true - he did snort the finest cocaine from Columbia.
“Percent of GDP is a game people play, to baffle people with their BS. It lessens the effect. It allows bragging rights where none exist.”
Would you rather have 100,000 dollars in income and 10,000 in debt or 1,000,000 dollars in income and 20,000 dollars in debt?
Pretending that the only thing that matters is the “total debt” is saying that “10,000 is lower than 20,000, so 10,000 is better.”
Obviously, debt is only important relative to income. GDP is like the “income” of the nation. National debt to GDP is the most logical way to look at it, which is why economists do it that way.
Lastly, debt under Clinton–5 trillion.
Debt under Bush–9.2 trillion and counting.
The difference is over 4 trillion. Bush hasn’t quite doubled the national debt, but he’s come damn close.
“Bush himself has admitted to using cocaine prior to 1976.”
A quick google search did not find any such admittance. Please provide a link.
Of course, it really doesn;t matter any more. THankfully, this man is on the way out.
Fox News Alert: George W. Bush Admits Cocaine Habit
And…………………..
“Bush has essentially admitted that he used cocaine in his Clintonesque, carefully worded partial denials. He won’t deny using cocaine or marijuana, though under persistent questioning he said that he hadn’t used cocaine in the last 7 years. Most newspapers report that he denies using cocaine since 1974, but that’s not exactly true.”
If the Clinton campaign has learned anything from the two-week campaign that preceded the Ohio and Texas votes, it is that Hillary Clinton will not win unless Barack Obama loses. The senator from Illinois must be damaged, badly, or so the theory goes, in order for the senator from New York to grab the Democratic nomination from his clutches. Make no mistake: The candidate and her Clintonistas have sought to inflict that damage.
This campaign moves so fast that it is easy to forget everything that happens in a two-week timespan. But, since Clinton lost Wisconsin’s February 19 primary, the hits really have kept coming. There was “Barack stole lines from Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick” hit. There was the “Barack stole a page from Karl Rove when he sent out negative mailings” hit. There was the “Barack dresses like a Muslim” hit. There was the “Barack’s campaign told the Canadians one thing about trade and Ohio another thing” hit. There was the “Barack’s not the guy you want answering the phone in the White House” hit. There was even the “Barack’s defiling the memory of Ann Richards because she would have wanted Hillary to have a clean shot at the nomination” hit. And always, always, always, there was the steady drumbeat from candidate Clinton that: “”I have a lifetime of experience I will bring to the White House. I know Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience he will bring to the White House. And Senator Obama has a speech (against authorizing President Bush to attack Iraq) he made in 2002.”
Now, the strategy has been sufficiently-if-not-completely validated.
“Let alone, that no where is there evidence of Bush saying he used Cocaine.”
“I have not used cocaine in the last seven years.”
“I have not murdered anyone in the last seven years.”
“I have not stolen anything from my company in the last seven years.”
Looking at the last two examples, you would conclude that whomever made those statements was guilty of those crimes PRIOR to the last seven years, right?
But when it comes to George W Bush, you say that his statement was NOT an admission that he used cocaine PRIOR to the last seven years?
True, Bush never admitted to using cocaine. He just never denied using cocaine. Other people closely connected to the Bush family said Bush used cocaine. What is clearly evident is that Bush is a drunk and during his stint with the Air National Guard before he went AWOL he was kept from flying because he was often too drunk to fly.
Now that the Republicans made military service irrelevant as a qualification for the office of President what is McCain going to brag about? I guess he can brag about helping to send those tanker jobs to France or his role in the S&L scandal, or the number of lobbyists that are running his campaign, or his love of torture. Hard to say.

True, Bush never admitted to using cocaine.
Ta Ding. Correct answer. Regardless of how you interpret his 7 year denials, etc. He never admitted to using cocaine—Which is what WSCLARK said he did.
Max claims Hillary has 8 years experience as Co-President. Ummm Max, when did the COTUS allow for a co-presidency?? Did I miss that amendment?? Hillary was no more of a co-president than Mrs. Wilson, or Nancy Reagan… Yea, remember how Nancy had to consult with her soothsayer(astrologer) to see what days Ronnie could fly?? LOL Unreal!! I dont think Hillary ever did such a thing as that!!
Hud — Eight years as First Lady of the USA is a valid claim on any resume… She knows how the presidency works, in a way that only what, a small handful of women know?? That is certainly experience that is noteworthy…
Look, being First Lady has unique experiences among women in America… They have a knowledge of the inner workings of the political process.. much moreso than secret service officials… I am not going to argue about the experience or non-experience of secret service agents… That is not even in the same ball park!! Different team altogether!!

Who is Chas arguing with. Are there two Chas’s here tonight or is Sugar :: using his nic again.
Oh yea, and dont forget to bring up Monica as often as you can to try to discredit Hillary too… I mean, you all go for everything else that is irrelevant… Because you have nothing SOLID….
Chas putting Bill back in the White House could be viewed as torture for the White House Pages. At least when he was prez he didn’t have all day to chase them. With Hill busy being prez he would be unsupervized all day with nothing to do. I smell disaster here.

Well Clark since you just quit using drugs 18 months ago, and are an old grandfather, that must make you George druggies together!

Thank you Editors! SMOOOOOOOOOOCH.
This is hillarious, I think perhaps the media is being sent a message!

I still think this SNL cartoon is funny:

Funny at first, Econ, but it needs editing. Way too long.
Was that Tim Ross, aka Tuvok from Star Trek Voyager, doing Obama’s voice? :D
Test: if I understand the HTML, this should be a pic of Tuvok:
It’s only a matter of time before Rove II thinks of this.
Woops. Are images not supported here now?
Sorry for that. The actor’s name is Russ, not Ross. Sorry for THAT, too.

McCain projected to win Republican Nomination, passed the delegate thresh hold. Fox News
Huck is dropping out. Wondered how long he was gonna hold on.
Huck said he would drop out when someone got 1,191. He did.
Huckabee’s speech is reflective of the Oak Ridge Boys’ song, “40 Hour Week” Neat way he used of getting around actual ‘quotes’ from the lyrics…
Senator Clinton projected to win Rhode Island!
Imagine that…
The creater of the “Incumbant Protection and Media Empowerment in Deciding Elections Act” wins the nomination.
Who could have imagined that the media golden boy would win with the media having such power in the election?
The TX caucuses are still going on in Houston… just a phone call from a friend there!! Long night ahead for Obama and Clinton..
Not sure how Clinton is winning in Ohio… and Obama winning or leading in TX… strange!!
Clinton just took the lead in TX!
Clinton is blowing him away in Ohio
Amazing!!
I had a feeling she was gonna make a comeback ya know, she just can’t lose, she’s always been one to do it.
NBC projects Hillary wins Ohio!!
Taking into account the weird Texas primary/caucus, a close showing for Hillary there and a Clinton win in Ohio means she MUST stay in the race.
I heard something earlier.
Something about no Presidential candidate has ever won without carrying Ohio.
If that is the case, the strongest Democratic candidate as determined by Ohio MUST remain in the race.
Not yet Barack!
Not yet!
Time for an Obama/Clinton or a Clinton/Obama ticket.
Pop the Corks! It’s 100 year (old?)war, EADS McCain, representing the Republicans. But, I guess we already knew that.

Oh yah, Ann Coulter was supporting Hillary too!
And the race goes on some more!! TX is still up in the air!! The whole race is still up in the air!! But, I doubt if ANY Republican can beat either Democrat candidate!!
I would take either one.
Tomorrow Eads McCain goes to the WH to get the Master’s blessing! Must see tv.
“I here by crown you Agustus Stupidius the 2nd!”: “Don’t fret, you needn’t know anything about economics.”
The Democratic party process is choosing the next President.
McCain has HUGE problems with campaign finance.
He will lose to either Senator Clinton or Senator Obama.
Let’s have the BEST democratic choice to kick his butt.
I’m just curious since this is the first time in a lot of years that I’m not voting republican, does anyone have thoughts on what will happen if the Deomcratic contest goes to the Covention floor? Ithink it could it could split the party into 2 camps, which could help Mcain’s campaign
The Democratic party is rediscovering political debate.
And the Repbulican party has their old, tired, unloved, sacrificial lamb.
Now at last it IS morning in America!
JR,
So, are you saying that you don’t think a brokered convention would be bad for the party?
I think the party will unite, dems. are truly thrilled (except JR!) with our choices. The campaign may even become bit more civil so as to not prove too divisive. The die hard bushies will unite around McCain and it will matter not.
Phantom,
I hope you are right. I don’t think this country can stand four more years of bush’s poliies. Can’t believe I voted for him, hope I’m forgiven
Oh HO!
Barack JUST now is starting to sound like a Democrat and not a Republican sympathizer.
Thank you Senator Clinton!
poliie=policies
Oops scratch that. He’s back on the change and “work with Repbulicans crap” again.
And NOW he is on the blame the victim kick! Oops he just advocated equal opportunity.
I am posting as he speaks.
Geez this guy is all over the map!
He’s right and left and back again!
Sheesh is he gonna fart a rainbow? NOW he is into the American dream crap.
I note the absence of the Obama supporters here.
Don’t you see? This is your problem. This is Obama’s problem.
You have to stand up and fight.
And if you are not doing it here for him, how am I supposed to believe he will be in the White House standing up for me?
This is the most important election maybe in American history. And it’s good that it aint over as to the nominees.
I’d rather see Hillary in the WH. But, will not be too disappointed if it’s Obama. If it’s McCain we’re all in trouble. The jury is still out on whether America is strong enough to withstand 8 yrs. of bush jr., another 4 would be fatal.
Sorry, was watching a movie. No need to watch the entire vote, only the outcome. And it ain’t over yet. It’s going to be an interesting summer.
I don’t want to hurt Obama, but this is a campaign for President and all of them go after each other. Obama hasn’t been an angel either.
I’m sad that we can’t have someone who has real true honest debate instead of ‘lets all just hope’.
In the end, we have GOT to regain the White House, either democrat.
Fortunately, Obama doesn’t need to go all-Bush on Hillary’s ass because he’ll probably end up with the same number of delegates or even more by the time he wins the Texas caucuses.
The rest of the States fall out in Obama’s favor.
“Obama hasn’t been an angel either.”
Actually, he has. He has run a high-minded, principled campaign.
The difference is that he wants to win the right way, not the Bush way . . .
What makes you think he’ll win the caucus but lose the primary?
He doesn’t support gay marriage.
Neither does Hillary. And unlike Obama, her spouse was in a position for 8 years to actually DO something about helping gay rights.
I think you know full well that Hillary is best, you sit here on this board and fight nasty with the republicans, but then expect Obama to just float on by. Get real WS.
If there is anything we’ve learned from Republicans, it’s how to lose a campaign by running a fair game.
8 years ago there is NO way Clinton could have ever gotten very far. We’ve progressed a lot in 8 years thankfully.
So we should do what they do because it wins elections?
How about we don’t do what they do and still win?
Let’s try that this time.
BTW, it’s CapnA not WS.
“We’ve progressed a lot in 8 years.”
Excuse me Capn but Obama called my inability to pay for health insurance for my son my fault.
Obama has also extolled Reagan and called the GOP the party of ideas.
I’m not your enemy Capn. But the way I see it Obama is not my friend.
He seems the choice of those with principle AND comfort. Well, my priciples are intact. I aint too comfortable.
Why do you want Obama in a walk?
And just who are you willing to walk over to reach out to the enemy?
Obama didn’t say any of those things, J R.
But you seem to want to believe that he did very badly.
Bill did a dumb thing, and you forget, that some forces were at work that were crooked as Al Gore won that election.
I’m sorry I mistook you for WS. I’m getting tired now.
It still blows my mind that America was more bent out of shape about that BJ than WPE’s illegal war and dismantling of the constitution.
As I said before, Obama is going to win enough delegates to win the nomination.
But the question is how many stabs in the back he can take from Zellary before she hands the election to McCain.
Which IMHO I don’t think bothers her in the least.
From day one, nothing mattered to Hillary except Hillary.
Why do you think she stuck it out with serial philanderer boy-child Bill?
He could take her where she wanted to go.
Capn ?
Obama wants to reach out to Republicans.
Do you?
Now I credit you your presence here. But why are you irate?
Senator Clinton did not put words in Obamas mouth. He has said he wants to work with Republicans.
How has such an approach worked out for you here Capn?
I’m sorry. I see Obama as a Republican sympathizer.
OH geez Capn come ON. Hillary can still pull this off or she wouldn’t still be in the race. I believe she will do it, and we’ll be a stronger America for it. Obama can take his turn in the VP spot learning. Then when Hillary hands it over 8 years later, he’ll be ready.
Learning to vote for the war, and not apologizing for it.
Learning to vote for NAFTA and then saying that he didn’t support it.
Learning to hide his papers and his tax records.
Learning that “lobbyists are good” as Hillary once said on record.
No thanks.
Here is what it comes down to Capn.
I cannot vote for Obama. And that is based on his own words.
Now can you vote for Hillary? Can you ask your candidate to step back and learn what he is getting into before he extends the hand to the enemy?
You are not hurting Capn. But an awful lot of folks are. Pretty words and calls to embrace the right don’t mean much to me.
First, I’m not irate. I’m deeply saddened.
“Two, you ask if I want to work with Republicans?
Of course, they’re Americans too. They deserve to be represented the same as I deserve to be represented.
Most Republicans are not bad people. They will work for the good of the country too if we finally get a leader who will lead instead of crush the opposition.
Oh I agree with you Capn that the balance of Republican voters are not evil.
But they ARE …….poorly thinking.
What does the right do to the left? What does management in this country do to the workers?
Where do you yourself know where it is we are headed?
The evil greedy want to crush everyone in their way. They post it here all the time.
Geez wake up!
JR -
If we offer to the country a general election campaign and candidate who will divide this country down the middle again, it is a prescription for losing the White House - again.
Got any a actual facts to back that up, Kev. How many Republicans crossed over?
Yuck!!
Chas.
Waaaahaaahaaaaaahhhhahahah.
whiner
“Maybe thats why the Dems have those super-delegates?? To off set the Repub cross over voters!!”
Right Chas. We cannot trust the Democrat voters to know what they want; so we will just do something to override ther votes.
For all of Clinton’s wins, she only gained 1-2 delegates. This means that she is still behind in the delegate count by 157-158. And with only approx. 600+ delegates left(1000 prior to yesterday), she didn’t do what she needed to.
“For all of Clinton’s wins, she only gained 1-2 delegates”
Not to worry daves, this is a job for:
the super-delegates!!!!!!!
Thanks, Kelly.
Hillary fights hard for Hillary.
No question about that.
When it comes to stopping Bush’s war for oil in Iraq, not so much.
Crossovers like germie and Amway in Kansas = good
Crossovers in Texas = bad
Got it!
Or will you just settle for appeasement?
The difference is that the cross-over vote in most states has been FOR Obama. Which is good because people are voting for the candidate they believe is best.
The cross-over vote in Tejas was directed by Rush Limbaugh to hurt the Democratic party–to hinder the better candidate from getting the nomination so the ‘Pukes can win in November.
That’s the difference.
Since then? His votes against the war have been, uh, not so much…
…and GEEZ, is there a republican anywhere who ISNT supporting Obama? Certainly not here. So much for the repubs WANTING to run against Hillary.
They WANT to see the democrats divided. Looks like they are winning, but the only people who can divide democrats are democrats.
Hillary is supposed to just give up and play along for the good of the party?
Cant WAIT to turn THAT one around on the Obama folks…
No one forced Obama to make loving statements about the Republican party.
He has not backed off of them. Indeed, he brags that Republicans support him. And he asks us to distance friends in the effort to reach enemies.
This is not a sad day. It’s a joyous one. The Democratic party process for determining a nominee is being played out more extensively than at any time in recent memory. And whatever nominee emerges will be well vetted for the experience.
Hillary voted to give Worst. President. Ever. the authority to invade Iraq.
Obama, from the floor of the Illinois Senate, denounced the Iraq Invasion.
Hillary never has.
End of story.
“From the floor of the Illinois Senate”?
Interesting tidbit. That serves to illustrate how little national experience Obama has.
It also shows that he was not privy to all the information that Hillary was when she cast her vote.
Well ya know outlander, some folks say Hillary won the popular vote but Obama is ahead in the delegate count.
I dont know how one figures a “popular” vote in caucus situations, but, if it’s true?
I bet Hillary would be glad to accept if Obama wants to bow out.
For the good of the party and all, dontchya know?
Obama fighting for the nomination at any cost to the party = good.
Hillary fighting for the nomination at any cost to the party = bad.
Got it!
Since captain thinks it’s a BAD thing for Hillary to fight for Hillary to win… I guess Obama will STOP fighting for Obama… when?
Yeah. I WANT Hillary to fight as hard to beat mccain as she is for “herself” (big eye roll) to win. THAT is the POINT we’ve been making!
And captain, do you get paid by the word for posting “zellary” and “hitlary” or do you just do it “for the good of the party”?
And captain, do you get paid by the word for posting “zellary” and “hitlary” or do you just do it “for the good of the party”?
LMFAO. Farmie did you used to be a sniper? Cause you’ve GOT to be the damnedest sharpshooter out here. Nailed it Farmie, nailed it.
Heh Solly, thanks. Actually, I’m better with a shotgun where close is good enough.
Heheheheheheheh. Sorry, I normally agree with captain and he is usually my buddy. But we SERIOUSLY disagree on this Obama-Hillary thing.
Careful what you say. You may have to eat those words later on.
Me? Hell, I’m ALWAYS chewing away on some past remark…
Eat my words? My candidate is still ‘in the race’ only no one knows it :-D
I’ve been eating crow the whole damn time. Gonna start changing the recipe so it at least seems different.
No sol, heheh. I meant the Obama folks might want to keep their words a little softer and sweeter.
Ya never know when the worm will turn. Er.. the voters will turn…
I can only WISH my core were as sturdy as Hillary’s. She is one tough cookie. Just what we need.
Can’t change their past war votes and actions…..
“These three (McCain, Hillary, Obama) are the best we can do?”
LittleJohn, it appears to me I will not be voting for anyone this election. I will be voting against whomever I feel will do the least harm.
I’m obviously not alone.
Whoever manages to get us out of this extra-deep Bush latrine is going to be the greatest President this country has ever had!”
Yeah, good luck with that. :(
Well, LJ, it is not usually a good tactic to say:
“I’ll raise your taxes, and cut popular entitlement programs” - that is not completely the politicos’ fault. We voters don’t want to face reality, either.
“I call on ANY candidate to tell us the truth about our economic situation - the crushing nature of our debt and the ever rising costs of deficit spending.”
Y’all saw it coming…
http://www.RonPaul2008.com
The real truth express.
“This president has added three trillion dollars to the national debt - a greater amount than all former presidents combined.”
Yeah, Clinton only racked up half that amount.
Clinton paid down the national debt as a percent of GDP.
Way down.
Bush shot it right back up again.
Of course.
http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1719614,00.html?cnn=yes
Given the remaining contests — many with electorates favorable to Obama — Obama’s existing hundred-plus delegate lead, and the rules by which Democrats apportion delegates, it is almost a political and mathematical certainty that Obama will have an elected delegate lead at the end of the process . . .
Here’s a link for an easy to see graph, AmWay.
http://zfacts.com/p/318.html
Here are the numbers from the United States Treasury:
01/21/1993 Clinton took office
$4,174,218,594,232.91 National Debt
01/22/2001 Clinton left office
$5,728,195,796,181.57 National Debt
$1,553,977,201,948.66 1.5 trillion increase during Clinton’s first eight year term.
http://www.treasurydirect.gov/NP/NPGateway
You have to compare apples to apples Capn.
Figures don’t lie, but liars figure
And yes Bush was twice as bad!!!!!!
And don’t forget how Clinton had several chances to get Osama bin Laden, but didn’t.
“And don’t forget how Clinton had several chances to get Osama bin Laden, but didn’t.”
Old stories, not true, but keep on believin’, Max.
http://cliffschecter.bravenewfilms.org/blog/31401-did-clinton-campaign-darken-obama-s-skin-tone
Everybody see this Clinton attack on Obama?
“it is almost a political and mathematical certainty that Obama will have an elected delegate lead at the end of the process . . .”
While true? This is irrelevant.
Obama would need to win over 70% of the remaining delegates to secure the nomination.
This is only slightly less likely than Senator Clinton winning the 90% of the remaining delegates she would need to secure the nomination.
It’s going to the convention. And my prediction is the Obama train will now begin to lose steam.
Obama is only what 44? He should do the graceful thing and take the second seat. He can be President in 2016.
Max,
It is more important now than ever (thanks to you) that the truth about WJ Clinton’s presidency be made known - and not allow even little white lies to flurish.
Hillary is running on Bill Clinton’s legacy. Fine.
But let’s make sure it is the truth.
“Obama is only what 44? He should do the graceful thing and take the second seat.”
Why?
Max, are you saying that you took busses to TX, and fraudulently voted in the TX primaries for Clinton, so you could carry out Rush’s prophecy??
Ummmm isnt that illegal??? Hmmmm…..
Max, ya just cant project from BILL’s presidency, to a “not yet” presidency of Hillary!! They are two different people… AND, we have had 9/11 and 8 yrs of Bush between then and now… BIG differences….
Who’s Presidency was it?
Hillary either has 8 years of experience as co-President or not.
If she has no other experience then 7 years as a Senator, then her experience doesn’t qualify her to be POTUS.
If she does have 8 years experience as co-President, then she takes the blame and the credit for everything from 93-01.
Max reads the tabloids and believes what he reads. (That sure was a dang cute picture of Jesus holding the baby dinosaur.)
Max gave up his credibility when he posted that the KKK endorses Obama (with a link to a British tabloid.).
Max is one smart cookie.
Any news on when Hillary will release her tax returns?
WS Clark,
When did Bush do Cocaine and where is your evidence?
“When did Bush do Cocaine and where is your evidence?”
Bush himself has admitted to using cocaine prior to 1976.
WS Clark,
Really? When and where did Bush ever admit that?
“Bush himself has admitted to using cocaine prior to 1976.”
A quick google search did not find any such admittance. Please provide a link.
Of course, it really doesn;t matter any more. THankfully, this man is on the way out.
Post the quote where he said he snorted cocaine. Those exact words not where you read his ‘real’ meaning into words he said.
I know WS you say you neveeeerrr lie. Prove it.
“I know WS you say you neveeeerrr lie. Prove it.”
You mean like your son was in the Gulf during the Cole incident?
Like that?
WS Clark,
Dont get distracted.
Where is this admitance from Bush that he used Coacaine?
WS Clark,
Or was that an admittance that you lied about Bush?
Fox Noise said it………… It HAS to be true.
http://wonkette.com/politics/george-w‘-bush/fox-news-alert-george-w-bush-admits-cocaine-habit-225767.php
Most newspapers report that he denies using cocaine since 1974, but that’s not exactly true.”
http://www.realchange.org/bushjr.htm#cocaine
Why would Bush say that he hadn’t used in marijuana or cocaine IN THE LEAST SEVEN YEARS?
LEAST = LAST………………
Clinton enjoyed a blow, now and then. So did Bush II.
Which one was worse?
WS Clark,
For someone who insists on “real” links in any other discussion, how on earth do you think that a link to the wonkette is going to mean anything?
Let alone, that no where is there evidence of Bush saying he used Cocaine.
You clearly stated that Bush said he used cocaine.
Now you can either prove that or admit you were wrong.
Remember all those talks about character before you answer.
On top of that, it was a Fox reporter who mistakingly said Bush admitted to using Cocaine and was immediately corrected too.
Fox News hardly “reported” anything about Bush admitting he used Cocaine.
I’m off to work, but I won’t expect you to admit you were wrong by the time I get back.
You could always surprise me though.
From THE NATION Magazine:
Funny logic there, I would have to say……
As for character, Price - of the two of us, which one has gotten a thread shutdown?
Eh?

“He never admitted to using cocaine—Which is what WSCLARK said he did.”
“I have not used cocaine in the LAST seven years.”
What else does that mean?
If he never used cocaine, why DIDN’T he just say, I have NEVER used coke?
Easy, right?
OBAMA WINS IN TEJAS
http://edition.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/state/#TX
Obama gained 4 delegates over Hillary in the Texas election, and he won 56% of the caucus. That puts him over in the popular vote as well.
Texas Primary: Clinton 64/ Obama 60
Texas Caucus: Obama 38/ Clinton 30
WSClark is right.
HW Bush once said that “I have never used cocaine. However, I can’t say that about my son.”
Hillary Clinton has seven years of experience as a Senator.
Barack Obama has three years as a Senator and additional experience as a State Legislator.
If “experience” is the issue, then the Democrats should nominate Robert Byrd or Edward Kennedy.
That ain’t gonna happen……
When did Obama quit using street drugs?
Max claims Hillary has 8 years experience as Co-President. Ummm Max, when did the COTUS allow for a co-presidency?? Did I miss that amendment?? Hillary was no more of a co-president than Mrs. Wilson, or Nancy Reagan… Yea, remember how Nancy had to consult with her soothsayer(astrologer) to see what days Ronnie could fly?? LOL Unreal!! I dont think Hillary ever did such a thing as that!!
I think Obama may be on the ‘cocaine’ patch, he has admitted using ‘nicotine’ supplements for his habit.
Well, here goes the Obama lying machine again… now comes the “drug agenda” — Pretty soon, somebody will try to show that he was a bad soldier!!
“Max claims Hillary has 8 years experience as Co-President. Ummm Max, when did the COTUS allow for a co-presidency??”
Chas., Hill is the one including the eight years on her resume’.
“Well, here goes the Obama lying machine again… now comes the “drug agenda” — Pretty soon, somebody will try to show that he was a bad soldier!!”
Obama never was in the military, he was too busy doing crack cocaine in and after high school.
Hud — Eight years as First Lady of the USA is a valid claim on any resume… She knows how the presidency works, in a way that only what, a small handful of women know?? That is certainly experience that is noteworthy…
By that logic Chas, we should be electing Secret Service agents as Presidential Candidates. :D
Shall we discuss the drugs that are part of your everyday life there “Regular”?
You take one for some deep neurological disorder if I recall?
I really don’t think drugs legal or illegal is a place you want to go.
Look, being First Lady has unique experiences among women in America… They have a knowledge of the inner workings of the political process.. much moreso than secret service officials… I am not going to argue about the experience or non-experience of secret service agents… That is not even in the same ball park!! Different team altogether!!
Go ahead JR, make it personal. It’s all you know how to do.
——————————————-
Well Chas, then Laura Bush should be running!
On the Librarian ticket! :)
“Look, being First Lady has unique experiences among women in America…”
Yes, and more so if Bill is the President.
I am not sure Monica could be called “unique”.
Sorry, but she did not get all that much experience during her tour of “First Lady”. Much of the time she was not even talking to Bill.
Chas.

Who is Chas arguing with. Are there two Chas’s here tonight or is Sugar :: using his nic again.
I think in B. Clinton’s first term, Hillary was too busy shuffling White Water papers from room to room and saying “she didn’t recall.”
I wonder if her former Law Firm paid H. Clinton for her recollection abilities?
If they did, they sure got jipped!
Why dont you form a new party — Librarians United of America… They can run “Curious George” as their favorite son candidate!! LOL
George Goebel died some time back, can’t use that moniker.
Oh yea, and dont forget to bring up Monica as often as you can to try to discredit Hillary too… I mean, you all go for everything else that is irrelevant… Because you have nothing SOLID….
I wonder if cigars will be allowed in the H. Clinton White House?
Chas putting Bill back in the White House could be viewed as torture for the White House Pages. At least when he was prez he didn’t have all day to chase them. With Hill busy being prez he would be unsupervized all day with nothing to do. I smell disaster here.
Cigars? I did not even know that Hill and Monica had something going on until Chas. said something about Monica discredited Hillary.
There is no discussion possible here — Bye all!!
Hud I always thought we didn’t get the whole story!
Chas you are just no fun anymore. Good nite!
Good Nite!
Blessings to Hank’s Shoulder! :)
wait, I’m probably not done yet.
Or maybe I am. Depends, maybe…
“When did Obama quit using street drugs?”
When he was a teenager - unlike George who continued to use until he was nearly forty.
It is one thing to use coke at 17, quite another to do so at 37.
Right?
Or are you buying that “youthful indiscretion” from Henry Hyde?
Breaking news on the election front:

“Eight years as First Lady of the USA is a valid claim on any resume…”
Do you people even listen to yourselves?
If Mrs. Bush made that claim, would that be the same? Mrs. Reagan? Mrs. Carter? Mrs. Ford?
Please, stop, while you’re still behind.
“Depends, maybe…”
Or maybe the lower-priced store brand.

Well Clark since you just quit using drugs 18 months ago, and are an old grandfather, that must make you George druggies together!
“Well Clark since you just quit using drugs 18 months ago, and are an old grandfather, that must make you George druggies together!”
Actually, dumbass, I have never used cocaine or heroin - commonly known as street drugs.
And I am not old, idiot, I am not quite 56.
By the way, how is that police investigation of me coming - should I still be watching for the blue flashing lights?
