What is it with El Dorado and rising Democratic Party stars? Something in the water? Or the oil? During his appearance at the Kansas Democratic Party’s annual Washington Days event in Topeka last week, Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine (in photo) talked of his Kansas roots: He grew up in Overland Park, and his mother is from El Dorado and his father from Wamego. Kaine has been mentioned as a possible running mate for Barack Obama, who won the Virginia primary this year with Kaine’s enthusiastic support. Kaine said of Obama last year: “When I found out his mother grew up in the same town as my mom, El Dorado, Kan., I knew we knew we were separated at birth and I had to support him.’’

All is not coming up roses for Democrats in El Dorado. Good grief, Sen. Peggy Palmer represents them. She is the blonde twin of Brenda Landwehr.
Wow, just wow. So support comes from being from the same town?
I wonder since Phred Phelps is from Topeka, if he feels a kinship with him too?
Oh probably so, since ole Obama seems to have this underlying dislike of gays.
By the way, that’s also why I chose not to go to Washington Days…I knew it’d be all about the Obama lovefest.
I didn’t want to go hang around with a bunch of republicans.
Bob Dole and Arlen Specter are both from Russell.
Ditto on Washington Days Pmom. It’s always a cult of some personality. If not obama, then sebelius, or vilsac (remember him?) etc. And the anti-gay thing is an annual ritual there. The gays present a resolution of support, and the state committee finds a reason to turn it down.
Wash, rinse, repeat….
Obama and Kaine separated at birth? They are destined for greatness because of their home towns?
The party of Jefferson weeps. It’s come to this…
“Bob Dole and Arlen Specter are both from Russell”
And boy, it shows, doesnt it?
I went to Wash Days. I sure as hell ain’t a Republican, never have been. I’ve voted for a few Repubs from time to time over 35 years, but it has been rare.
I had a great time, and I met a bunch of candidates – and they ain’t Republicans either – who are running for public office this year all over the state.
We missed you, Poli-mama, but you can always attend Demofest (no, it isn’t Republifest) in September in Wichita.
